2 Chroniques 18
1 Josaphat avait des richesses et des honneurs en abondance, et il s'allia à Achab.
Now Jehoshaphat had riches and honor in abundance; and he joined affinity with Ahab.
2 Après quelques années, il descendit auprès d'Achab à Samarie. Achab lui tua en abondance des moutons et des bovins, ainsi qu'au peuple qui était avec lui, et il le poussa à monter avec lui à Ramoth Galaad.
After certain years he went down to Ahab to Samaria. Ahab killed sheep and cattle for him in abundance, and for the people who were with him, and moved him to go up with him to Ramoth Gilead.
3 Achab, roi d'Israël, dit à Josaphat, roi de Juda: « Veux-tu aller avec moi à Ramoth Galaad? » Il lui répondit: « Je suis comme toi, et mon peuple comme ton peuple. Nous serons avec toi à la guerre. »
Ahab king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat king of Judah, "Will you go with me to Ramoth Gilead?" He answered him, "I am as you are, and my people as your people. We will be with you in the war."
4 Josaphat dit au roi d'Israël: « Je te prie de t'enquérir d'abord de la parole de Yahvé. »
Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, "Please inquire first for the word of YHWH."
5 Alors le roi d'Israël rassembla les prophètes, quatre cents hommes, et leur dit: « Irai-je à Ramoth Galaad pour combattre, ou dois-je m'abstenir? » Ils ont dit: « Monte, car Dieu la livrera entre les mains du roi. »
Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, four hundred men, and said to them, "Shall we go to Ramoth Gilead to battle, or shall I refrain?" They said, "Go up; for God will deliver it into the hand of the king."
6 Mais Josaphat dit: « N'y a-t-il pas ici un prophète de Yahvé en plus, pour que nous le consultions? »
But Jehoshaphat said, "Isn't there here a prophet of YHWH besides, that we may inquire of him?"
7 Le roi d'Israël dit à Josaphat: « Il y a encore un homme par qui nous pouvons consulter Yahvé; mais je le déteste, car il ne prophétise jamais rien de bon à mon sujet, mais toujours du mal. C'est Michée, fils d'Imla. » Josaphat a dit: « Que le roi ne le dise pas. »
The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of YHWH; but I hate him, for he never prophesies good concerning me, but always evil. He is Micaiah the son of Imla." Jehoshaphat said, "Do not let the king say so."
8 Alors le roi d'Israël appela un officier et dit: « Va vite chercher Michée, fils d'Imla. »
Then the king of Israel called an officer, and said, "Get Micaiah the son of Imla quickly."
9 Le roi d'Israël et Josaphat, roi de Juda, étaient assis chacun sur son trône, revêtus de leurs robes, et ils étaient assis sur une place ouverte à l'entrée de la porte de Samarie; et tous les prophètes prophétisaient devant eux.
Now the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah sat each on his throne, arrayed in their robes, and they were sitting in an open place at the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets were prophesying before them.
10 Sédécias, fils de Chenaana, se fit des cornes de fer et dit: « Yahvé dit: Avec celles-ci tu pousseras les Syriens jusqu'à ce qu'ils soient consumés. »
Zedekiah the son of Kenaanah made him horns of iron, and said, "Thus says YHWH, 'With these you shall push the Arameans, until they are consumed.'"
11 Tous les prophètes l'ont prophétisé, en disant: « Monte à Ramoth Galaad, et prospère, car Yahvé la livrera entre les mains du roi. »
All the prophets prophesied so, saying, "Go up to Ramoth Gilead, and prosper; for YHWH will deliver it into the hand of the king."
12 Le messager qui était allé appeler Michée lui parla ainsi: « Voici, les paroles des prophètes disent du bien au roi d'une seule bouche. Que ta parole soit donc, je te prie, semblable à l'une des leurs, et qu'elle dise du bien. »
The messenger who went to call Micaiah spoke to him, saying, "Look, the words of the prophets declare good to the king with one mouth. Let your word therefore, please be like one of theirs, and speak good."
13 Michée dit: « L'Éternel est vivant, je dirai ce que mon Dieu dit. »
Micaiah said, "As YHWH lives, whatever my God says to me, that I will speak."
14 Lorsqu'il fut arrivé auprès du roi, celui-ci lui dit: « Michée, irons-nous à Ramoth Galaad pour combattre, ou dois-je m'abstenir? » Il a dit: « Monte, et prospère. Ils seront livrés entre tes mains. »
When he had come to the king, the king said to him, "Micaiah, shall we go to Ramoth Gilead to battle, or shall I refrain?" He said, "Go up, and prosper. They shall be delivered into your hand."
15 Le roi lui dit: « Combien de fois t'adjurerai-je de ne me dire que la vérité au nom de Yahvé? »
The king said to him, "How many times shall I adjure you that you speak to me nothing but the truth in the name of YHWH?"
16 Il dit: « J'ai vu tout Israël dispersé sur les montagnes, comme des brebis qui n'ont pas de berger. Yahvé a dit: « Elles n'ont pas de maître. Que chacun retourne en paix dans sa maison ».
He said, "I saw all Israel scattered on the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd. YHWH said, 'These have no master. Let them return every man to his house in peace.'"
17 Le roi d'Israël dit à Josaphat: « Ne t'ai-je pas dit qu'il ne prophétiserait pas du bien à mon sujet, mais du mal? »
The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "Did I not tell you that he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?"
18 Michée dit: « C'est pourquoi écoutez la parole de l'Éternel. J'ai vu l'Éternel assis sur son trône, et toute l'armée des cieux debout à sa droite et à sa gauche.
Micaiah said, "Therefore hear the word of YHWH: I saw YHWH sitting on his throne, and all the army of heaven standing on his right hand and on his left.
19 Yahvé dit: Qui séduira Achab, roi d'Israël, pour qu'il monte et tombe à Ramoth Galaad? L'un parlait en disant ceci, et l'autre en disant cela.
YHWH said, 'Who shall entice Ahab king of Israel, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth Gilead?' One spoke saying in this way, and another saying in that way.
20 Un esprit sortit, se tint devant l'Éternel, et dit: Je le séduirai. « Yahvé lui dit: « Comment?
A spirit came out, stood before YHWH, and said, 'I will entice him.' "YHWH said to him, 'How?'
21 « Il a dit: « J'irai, et je serai un esprit de mensonge dans la bouche de tous ses prophètes ». « Il dit: 'Tu le séduiras, et tu l'emporteras aussi. Va et fais-le.
"He said, 'I will go forth, and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.' "He said, 'You will entice him, and will prevail also. Go forth, and do so.'
22 « Maintenant, voici que Yahvé a mis un esprit de mensonge dans la bouche de vos prophètes, et Yahvé a dit du mal de vous. »
"Now therefore, look, YHWH has put a lying spirit in the mouth of these your prophets; and YHWH has pronounced disaster concerning you."
23 Alors Sédécias, fils de Chenaana, s'approcha, frappa Michée sur la joue et dit: « Par où l'Esprit de Yahvé est-il sorti de moi pour te parler? »
Then Zedekiah the son of Kenaanah came near, and struck Micaiah on the cheek, and said, "Which way did the Spirit of YHWH go from me to speak to you?"
24 Michée dit: « Voici ce que tu verras ce jour-là, quand tu entreras dans une pièce intérieure pour te cacher. »
Micaiah said, "Look, you shall see on that day, when you shall go into an inner room to hide yourself."
25 Le roi d'Israël dit: « Prends Michée, et tu le porteras à Amon, gouverneur de la ville, et à Joas, fils du roi,
The king of Israel said, "Take Micaiah, and carry him back to Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king's son;
26 et tu diras: « Le roi dit: « Mets cet homme dans la prison, et nourris-le de pain d'affliction et d'eau d'affliction, jusqu'à ce que je revienne en paix »".
and say, 'Thus says the king, "Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I return in peace."'"
27 Michée dit: « Si vous revenez en paix, Yahvé n'a pas parlé par moi. » Il dit: « Écoutez, vous tous, peuple, tous! »
Micaiah said, "If you return at all in peace, YHWH has not spoken by me." He said, "Listen, you peoples, all of you."
28 Le roi d'Israël et Josaphat, roi de Juda, montèrent à Ramoth Galaad.
So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth Gilead.
29 Le roi d'Israël dit à Josaphat: « Je me déguiserai, et j'irai au combat; mais toi, mets tes vêtements. » Le roi d'Israël se déguisa donc, et ils allèrent au combat.
The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "I will disguise myself, and go into the battle; but you put on your robes." So the king of Israel disguised himself; and they went into the battle.
30 Or, le roi de Syrie avait donné cet ordre aux chefs de ses chars: « Ne combattez ni les petits ni les grands, si ce n'est seulement contre le roi d'Israël. »
Now the king of Aram had commanded the captains of his chariots, saying, "Fight neither with small nor great, except only with the king of Israel."
31 Lorsque les chefs des chars virent Josaphat, ils dirent: « C'est le roi d'Israël! » Ils firent donc demi-tour pour le combattre. Mais Josaphat cria, et l'Éternel le secourut, et Dieu les poussa à s'éloigner de lui.
It happened, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, "It is the king of Israel." Therefore they turned around to fight against him. But Jehoshaphat cried out, and YHWH helped him; and God moved them to depart from him.
32 Lorsque les chefs des chars virent que ce n'était pas le roi d'Israël, ils cessèrent de le poursuivre.
It happened, when the captains of the chariots saw that it was not the king of Israel, that they turned back from pursuing him.
33 Un homme tira son arc au hasard et frappa le roi d'Israël entre les jointures de l'armure. Il dit alors au conducteur du char: « Fais demi-tour et emporte-moi hors de la bataille, car je suis gravement blessé. »
A certain man drew his bow at random, and struck the king of Israel between the joints of the armor. Therefore he said to the driver of the chariot, "Turn your hand, and carry me out of the army; for I am severely wounded."
34 La bataille s'intensifia ce jour-là. Cependant, le roi d'Israël se soutint dans son char contre les Syriens jusqu'au soir; et vers le coucher du soleil, il mourut.
The battle increased that day. However the king of Israel propped himself up in his chariot against the Arameans until the evening; and about the time of the going down of the sun, he died.
