1 Chroniques 4
1 Les fils de Juda: Pérez, Hetsron, Carmi, Hur et Shobal.
Judah's descendants were Perez, Hezron, Karmi, Hur, and Shobal.
2 Reaja, fils de Shobal, engendra Jahath; et Jahath engendra Ahumai et Lahad. Ce sont là les familles des Zorathites.
Shobal was the father of Reaiah. Reaiah was the father of Jahath. Jahath was the father of Ahumai and Lahad. These were of the clans of the Zorathites.
3 Voici les fils du père d'Etam: Jezreel, Isma et Idbash. Le nom de leur sœur était Hazzelelponi.
These were the ancestors of the clans in the city of Etam: Jezreel, Ishma, and Idbash. Their sister's name was Hazzelelponi.
4 Penuel était le père de Gedor et Ezer le père de Hushah. Ce sont les fils de Hur, premier-né d'Ephrata, père de Bethléhem.
Peniel was the ancestor of the clans in the city of Gedor. Ezer was the originator of the clans in Hushah. These were descendants of Hur, the firstborn of Ephrathah and the originator of Bethlehem.
5 Ashhur, père de Tekoa, avait deux femmes: Héla et Naara.
Ashhur the father of Tekoa had two wives, Helah and Naarah.

Jabez was more respected than his brothers. His mother called him Jabez. She said, “Because I bore him in pain.”
10 Jabez invoqua le Dieu d'Israël et dit: « Que tu me bénisses et que tu étendes mon territoire! Que ta main soit avec moi, et que tu me gardes du mal, afin que je ne fasse pas de mal! ». Dieu lui a accordé ce qu'il demandait.
Jabez called out to the God of Israel and said, “If only you would truly bless me, expand my territory, and your hand will be with me. When you do this you will keep me from harm, so that I may be free from pain!” So God granted him his prayer.
11 Chelub, frère de Shuhah, engendra Mehir, qui engendra Eshton.
Kelub brother of Shuhah became the father of Mehir, who was the father of Eshton.
12 Eshton engendra Beth Rapha, Paseah, et Tehinnah, père de Ir Nahash. Ce sont là les hommes de Réca.

13 Fils de Kenaz: Othniel et Seraia. Fils d'Othniel: Hathath.
Kenaz's sons were Othniel and Seraiah. Othniel's sons were Hathath and Meonothai.
14 Meonothaï engendra Ophra; et Seraja engendra Joab, père de Ge Harashim, car ils étaient artisans.
Meonothai became the father of Ophrah, and Seraiah became the father of Joab, the originator of Ge-Harashim, whose people were craftsmen.
15 Fils de Caleb, fils de Jephunné: Iru, Éla, et Naam. Le fils d'Elah: Kenaz.
The sons of Caleb son of Jephunneh were Iru, Elah and Naam. Elah's son was Kenaz.
16 Fils de Jehallelel: Ziph, Zipha, Tiria et Asarel.

17 Fils d'Ezra: Jether, Mered, Epher et Jalon; la femme de Mered enfanta Miriam, Shammai et Ishbah, père d'Eshtemoa.

The sons of Shimon were Amnon, Rinnah, Ben-Hanan, and Tilon. The sons of Ishi were Zoheth and Ben-Zoheth.
21 Fils de Schéla, fils de Juda: Er, père de Leca, Laada, père de Maréscha, et les familles de la maison de ceux qui travaillent le lin fin, de la maison d'Ashbea;

Mishma's descendants were Hammuel his son, Zakkur his grandson, and Shimei his great-grandson.
27 Shimei eut seize fils et six filles; mais ses frères n'eurent pas beaucoup d'enfants, et toute leur famille ne se multiplia pas comme les enfants de Juda.
Shimei had sixteen sons and six daughters. His brothers did not have many children, so their clans did not increase greatly in numbers as the people of Judah did.

32 Leurs villages étaient Etam, Aïn, Rimmon, Tochen et Ashan, soit cinq villes,

These mentioned by name were leaders in their clans, and their clans increased greatly.
39 Ils allèrent jusqu'à l'entrée de Gedor, à l'est de la vallée, pour chercher des pâturages pour leurs troupeaux.
They went near Gedor, on the east side of the valley, to seek pasture for their flocks.
40 Ils trouvèrent de riches et bons pâturages, et le pays était vaste, tranquille et paisible, car ceux qui habitaient là auparavant descendaient de Cham.
They found abundant and good pasture. The land was broad, quiet, and peaceable. The Hamites had formerly lived there.
41 Ceux dont on a écrit le nom vinrent au temps d'Ézéchias, roi de Juda, et ils frappèrent leurs tentes et les Meunim qui s'y trouvaient; ils les détruisirent entièrement jusqu'à ce jour, et ils habitèrent à leur place, car il y avait là des pâturages pour leurs troupeaux.
These just listed by name came in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and attacked the Hamite settlements and the Meunites, who were there also. They destroyed them completely and lived there because they found pasture for their flocks.
42 Une partie des fils de Siméon, cinq cents hommes, se rendirent à la montagne de Séir, avec pour chefs Pelatia, Nearia, Rephaja et Uzziel, fils de Jishi.
From them, from the sons of Simeon, five hundred men went to Mount Seir with Pelatiah, Neariah, Rephaiah, and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi, as their leader.
43 Ils frappèrent le reste des Amalécites qui s'étaient échappés, et ils y ont vécu jusqu'à ce jour.
They defeated the rest of the Amalekite refugees, and have lived there to this day.
