Psalmien 135

1 Halleluja! Ylistäkää Herran nimeä. Ylistäkää, te Herran palvelijat,

Praise ye the LORD. Praise ye the name of the LORD; praise [him], O ye servants of the LORD:

2 jotka seisotte Herran huoneessa, meidän Jumalamme huoneen esikartanoissa.

Ye that stand in the house of the LORD, in the courts of the house of our God.

3 Ylistäkää Herraa, sillä Herra on hyvä, veisatkaa kiitosta hänen nimellensä, sillä se on suloinen.

Praise ye the LORD; for the LORD is good: sing praises unto his name; for it is pleasant.

4 Sillä Herra on valinnut Jaakobin omaksensa, Israelin omaisuudeksensa.

For the LORD hath chosen Jacob unto himself, [and] Israel for his peculiar treasure.

5 Sillä minä tiedän, että Herra on suuri, ja meidän Herramme korkeampi kaikkia jumalia.

For I know that the LORD is great, and that our Lord is above all gods.

6 Kaiken, mitä Herra tahtoo, hän tekee, sekä taivaassa että maassa, merissä ja kaikissa syvyyksissä;

Whatsoever the LORD pleased, that hath he done, in heaven and in earth, in the seas and in all deeps.

7 hän, joka nostaa pilvet maan ääristä, tekee salamat ja sateen ja tuopi tuulen sen säilytyspaikoista;

He causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings for the rain; he bringeth forth the wind out of his treasuries.

8 hän, joka surmasi Egyptin esikoiset, niin ihmisten kuin eläinten;

Who smote the firstborn of Egypt, both of man and beast.

9 hän, joka lähetti tunnusteot ja ihmeet sinun keskellesi, Egypti, faraota ja kaikkia hänen palvelijoitansa vastaan;

He sent signs and wonders into the midst of thee, O Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his servants.

10 hän, joka kukisti suuret kansat ja tuotti surman väkeville kuninkaille,

Who smote many nations, and slew mighty kings;

11 Siihonille, amorilaisten kuninkaalle, ja Oogille, Baasanin kuninkaalle, ja kaikille Kanaanin valtakunnille

Sihon king of the Amorites, and Og king of Bashan, and all the kingdoms of Canaan:

12 ja antoi heidän maansa perintöosaksi, perintöosaksi kansallensa Israelille.

And gave their land for an heritage, an heritage unto Israel his people.

13 Herra, sinun nimesi pysyy iankaikkisesti, Herra, sinun muistosi polvesta polveen.

Thy name, O LORD, [endureth] for ever; thy memorial, O LORD, throughout all generations.

14 Sillä Herra hankkii oikeuden kansalleen ja armahtaa palvelijoitansa.

For the LORD shall judge his people, and repent himself concerning his servants.

15 Pakanain epäjumalat ovat hopeata ja kultaa, ihmiskätten tekoa.

The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands.

16 Niillä on suu, mutta eivät ne puhu, niillä on silmät, mutta eivät näe,

They have mouths, but they speak not; eyes have they, but they see not;

17 niillä on korvat, mutta eivät kuule, eikä niillä ole henkeä suussansa.

They have ears, but they hear not; neither is there any breath in their mouths.

18 Niiden kaltaisia ovat niiden tekijät ja kaikki, jotka niihin turvaavat.

They that make them shall be like unto them; yea, every one that trusteth in them.

19 Te, Israelin suku, kiittäkää Herraa, te, Aaronin suku, kiittäkää Herraa.

O house of Israel, bless ye the LORD: O house of Aaron, bless ye the LORD:

20 Te, Leevin suku, kiittäkää Herraa, te, Herraa pelkääväiset, kiittäkää Herraa.

O house of Levi, bless ye the LORD: ye that fear the LORD, bless ye the LORD.

21 Kohotkoon Herralle kiitos Siionista, hänelle, joka Jerusalemissa asuu. Halleluja!

Blessed be the LORD out of Zion, who dwelleth at Jerusalem. Praise ye the LORD.
