< Psalmowo 78 >

1 Asaf ƒe nufiameha. O! Nye dukɔ, mise nye nufiame, eye miɖo to nye numenyawo.
An Instructive Psalm. Asaph’s. Give ear, O my people, to mine instruction, Bend your ear to the sayings of my mouth;
2 Make nye nu, aƒo nu le lododowo me. Magblɔ nu siwo le ɣaɣla, nu siwo li tso blema ke.
I will open, in a parable, my mouth, I will pour forth enigmas out of antiquity; —
3 Nu siwo míese, eye míenya, nu siwo mía fofowo tsɔ tu xoe na mí.
Which we have heard, and come to know, And, our fathers, have recounted to us;
4 Míawo míaɣlae ɖe mía viwo o, ke boŋ míagblɔ Yehowa ƒe dɔwɔwɔ siwo dze na kafukafu, eƒe ŋusẽ kple nukudɔ siwo wòwɔ la na megbeviwo.
We will not withhold [them] from their children, To a later generation, recounting the praises of Yahweh, Even his might and his wonders which he wrought;
5 Ewɔ ɖoɖowo na Yakob, eye wòɖo se anyi ɖe Israel, se siwo ŋu wòde se na mía fofowo be woafia wo viwo,
When he set up a testimony in Jacob, And, a law, appointed in Israel, —Which he commanded our fathers, That they might make them known to their children;
6 ale be dzidzime megbetɔwo hã nanya wo, eye vi siwo womedzi haɖe o hã nanya wo, ne woawo hã nafia wo viwo.
To the end, A later generation, might come to know, Children who should be born, Who should arise, and recount [them] to their children;
7 Ekema woatsɔ woƒe mɔkpɔkpɔ ada ɖe Mawu dzi, eye womaŋlɔ eƒe nuwɔwɔwo be o, ke boŋ woalé eƒe sewo me ɖe asi.
That they might set, in Elohim, their confidence, —And not forget the doings of El, But, his commandments, might observe;
8 Ke womanɔ abe wo fofo kɔlialiatɔwo, dzidzime dzeaglã, ame siwo ƒe dzi meku ɖe Mawu ŋu o, eye woƒe gbɔgbɔ meto nyateƒe nɛ o la ene o.
And not become, like their fathers, a generation stubborn and rebellious, —A generation that fixed not their heart, Neither was their spirit, faithful with GOD.
The sons of Ephraim—armed bowmen, Turned in the day of battle;
They kept not the covenant of God, And, in his law, refused to walk;
11 Woŋlɔ nu si wòwɔ la be, esiwo nye nukunu siwo wòɖe fia wo.
And forgat His doings, And his wonders which he had showed them:
12 Ewɔ nukunu le wo fofowo ŋkume le Egiptenyigba dzi, le Zoan nuto me.
In presence of their fathers, wrought he, wondrously, —In the land of Egypt—the field of Zoan:
13 Ema atsiaƒu, hekplɔ wo to emee, eye wòna tsi la tɔ dzɔ kã abe glikpɔ ene.
He clave the sea, and caused them to pass through, And reared up the waters like a mound;
14 Etsɔ lilikpo kplɔ woe le ŋkeke me, eye wòtsɔ dzo keklẽ kplɔ woe le zã me.
And led them, by a cloud, in the daytime, And all the night, by a light of fire;
15 Efe agakpe me le gbegbe, eye wòna tsi wo wòsɔ gbɔ abe atsiaƒumetsiwo ene.
He used to cleave rocks in the desert, And let them drink as out of mighty deeps;
16 Ena tsi do tso agakpe me eye tsi la si bababa abe tɔsisiwo ene.
And he brought forth streams out of the cliff, And caused waters to flow down, like rivers.
17 Ke woyi edzi gawɔ nu vɔ̃ ɖe eŋu, eye wodze aglã ɖe Dziƒoʋĩtɔ la ŋu le gbedzi.
But again, once more sinned they against him, Resisting the Most High in a land of drought:
18 Wotsɔ woƒe lɔlɔ̃nu te Mawu kpɔ, esi wobia nuɖuɖu si le wo dzrom vevie.
They put GOD to the proof in their heart, By asking food to their mind:
19 Woƒo nu tsi tsitre ɖe Mawu ŋu be, “Ɖe Mawu ate ŋu aɖo kplɔ̃ na mí le gbedzia?
Yea they spake against Elohim, —They said, Can GOD prepare a table in the desert?
20 Esi wòtsɔ nu ƒo agakpe la, tsi do bababa, eye tɔʋuwo si kplakplakpla. Gake ɖe wòate ŋu ana nuɖuɖu mía? Ate ŋu ana lã eƒe dukɔa?”
Lo! he hath smitten a rock, And waters, have gushed out, Yea, torrents, have rushed along, —Food also, can he give? Or provide flesh for his people?
21 Esi Yehowa se wo ŋkɔ la, dzi kui vevie; eƒe dzo bi ɖe Yakob ŋu, eye eƒe dɔmedzoe de dzi ɖe Israel ŋu,
Therefore, Yahweh hearkened, and became wroth, —And, a fire, was kindled against Jacob, Moreover also, anger, mounted against Israel;
22 elabena womexɔ Mawu dzi se, alo ka ɖe eƒe xɔname dzi o.
Because, They believed not in God, Nor trusted in his salvation;
23 Ke hã la, eɖe gbe na lilikpowo le dzi, eye wòʋu dziƒo ƒe ʋɔtruwo,
Though he had commanded the skies above, And, the doors of the heavens, had opened;
24 ena mana dza tso dziƒo na dukɔ la be woaɖu, eye wòna bli wo tso dziƒo.
And had rained on them manna to eat, And, the corn of the heavens, had given to them:
25 Amegbetɔ ɖu mawudɔlawo ƒe nuɖuɖu, eye wòɖo nuɖuɖu si sinu wohiã la ɖe wo.
The food of the mighty, each one did eat, Nourishment, sent he them to the full;
26 Etu ka ɣedzeƒeya tso dziƒo, eye wòkplɔ dzigbeya kple eƒe ŋusẽ.
He let loose an east wind in the heavens, Then guided he, in his might, a south wind;
27 Ena lã dza ɖe wo dzi abe ʋuʋudedi ene, eye xe dzodzoewo abe ƒutake ene.
And rained upon them flesh as the dust, And, like the sand of the seas, birds of wing;
28 Ena woge dze woƒe asaɖa me, eye woƒo xlã woƒe agbadɔwo.
And let them fall in the midst of their camp, —Round about their habitations.
29 Ale woɖui ʋuu heɖi ƒo taŋ, elabena ewɔ nu si dzrom wole la dzi na wo.
So they did eat and were abundantly filled, When, what they longed for, he had brought them: —
30 Ke hafi nuɖuɖu si wodzro la navɔ, eye esi wògale nu me na wo ko la,
They had not turned away from what they had longed for, Yet was their food in their mouth,
31 Mawu ƒe dɔmedzoe bi ɖe wo ŋu; ewu ame sesẽwo le wo dome, eye wòlã Israel ɖekakpuiwo ƒu anyi.
When, the anger of God, mounted against them, And he slew of their vigorous youths, And, the choice young men of Israel, caused he to bow down in death.
32 To nu siawo katã gbɔ hã la, wogayi nu vɔ̃ wɔwɔ dzi, eye togbɔ be ewɔ nukunuwo hã la, womexɔe se o.
For all this, sinned they still, And believed not in his wonders;
So he ended, in a breath, their days, And their years, in a sudden terror!
If he slew [of] them, then they sought him, Yea they turned, and did earnestly seek GOD;
35 Woɖoa ŋku edzi be Mawue nye woƒe Agakpe, eye Mawu Dziƒoʋĩtɔ lae nye woƒe Ɖela.
And remembered that, Elohim, was their rock, Yea, EL Most High, their Redeemer:
36 Ke emegbe la, wotsɔa woƒe nu flunɛ, eye wotsɔa woƒe aɖe daa alakpa nɛ.
So they spake him fair with their mouth, And, with their tongue, did promise him falsely;
37 Woƒe dziwo meku ɖe eŋu vavã o, eye womewɔ eƒe nubabla dzi le nyateƒe me o.
But, their heart, was not fixed with him, Nor were they trusty in his covenant:
38 Gake ekpɔ nublanui na wo; etsɔ woƒe vodadawo ke wo, eye metsrɔ̃ wo o. Zi geɖe la, eɖoa asi eƒe dziku dzi, eye menaa eƒe dɔmedzoe katã bina o.
Yet, he, full of compassion, would put a propitiatory-covering over iniquity, and not destroy, —Yea, many a time, turned he back his anger, And would not stir up all his wrath.
So then he remembered, That, Flesh, they were, A Wind departing, that returneth not.
40 Zi nenie womedze aglã ɖe eŋu le gbedzi, eye womedo vevesese nɛ le kuɖiɖinyigba dzi o!
How often they, Resisted him in the desert, Vexed him, in the waste:
41 Enuenu wotea Mawu kpɔna, eye wodoa dziku na Israel ƒe Kɔkɔetɔ la.
Yea they again put GOD to the test, And, to the Holy One of Israel, caused they sorrow:
42 Womeɖo ŋku eƒe ŋusẽ dzi, gbe si gbe wòɖe wo tso ŋutasẽla ƒe asi me,
They remembered not his hand—The day, When he ransomed them from the adversary;
When he set, in Egypt, his signs, And his wonders, in the plain of Zoan;
44 Etrɔ woƒe tɔsisiwo wozu ʋu, eye womete ŋu no woƒe tɔʋumetsi o.
When he turned, into blood, their Nile-streams, And, their own rivers, could they not drink;
45 Eɖo togbato ƒe ha gã aɖe ɖe wo dome, woɖu wo kple akpɔkplɔwo wogblẽ woƒe nuwo.
He sent among them, The gad-fly, and it devoured them, And the frog, and it despoiled them;
46 Etsɔ woƒe nukuwo na ʋetrawo kple woƒe kutsetsewo na ʋetsuviwo.
When he gave to the corn-locust their produce, And their toil, to the swarming locust;
47 Egblẽ woƒe waingblewo kple kpetsi, eye woƒe gbotiwo kple tsidzadza sesẽ.
He killed, with hail, their vine, And their sycomores, with frost:
48 Etsɔ woƒe nyihawo na kpetsi, eye wòtsɔ woƒe lãhawo na dzikedzo.
When he gave up, to hail-storms, their beasts, And their cattle, to pestilent fevers;
He sent among them the heat of his anger, Wrath and indignation and distress, —A mission of messengers of misfortune:
50 Eɖe mɔ ɖi na eƒe dɔmedzoe; meɖe woƒe agbe tso ku me o, ke boŋ etsɔ wo de asi na dɔvɔ̃.
He leveled a path for his anger, Withheld not, from death, their soul, But, their life—to the pestilence, he delivered:
51 Ewu Egiptetɔwo ƒe ŋgɔgbevi siwo nye woƒe ŋutsunyenye ƒe kutsetse gbãtɔwo le Ham gbadɔwo te.
So he smote, Every first-born in Egypt, The beginning of their strength, in the tents of Ham;
52 Gake ekplɔ eƒe dukɔ la abe lãhawo ene, eye wòkplɔ wo abe alẽwo ene to gbedzi.
And he set forth, like sheep, his people, And guided them, like a flock in the desert;
53 Ekplɔ wo le dedinɔnɔ me, ale be womevɔ̃ o, gake ƒu la tsyɔ woƒe futɔwo dzi.
Yea he led them securely, and they dreaded not, And, their enemies, the sea did cover.
54 Ale wòkplɔ wo va eƒe anyigba kɔkɔe la ƒe liƒo dzi, va tonyigba si eƒe nuɖusi xɔ la gbɔ.
Then brought he them within his own holy bounds, The mountain-range, which his right hand made his own:
55 Enya dukɔwo le wo ŋgɔ, eye wòma woƒe anyigba na wo be wòanye woƒe domenyinu, eye wòna Israel ƒe toawo nɔ woƒe aƒewo me.
So he drave out, before them, [whole] nations, And allotted them, by line, an inheritance, And caused to dwell, in their own homes, the tribes of Israel.
56 Ke wote Mawu kpɔ, wodze aglã ɖe Dziƒoʋĩtɔ la ŋu, eye womelé eƒe sewo me ɖe asi o.
But they tested and resisted God Most High, And, his testimonies, did not observe;
But drew back and dealt treacherously, like their fathers, They turned aside, like deceitful bowmen;
58 Wotsɔ woƒe nuxeƒewo do dɔmedzoe nɛ, eye woƒe legbawo na ŋuʋaʋã tso le eya amea me.
And provoked him to anger with their high places, And, with their images, used to move him to jealousy.
59 Esi Mawu se wo ŋkɔ la, dzi kui vevie ŋutɔ, eye wògbe Israel keŋkeŋ.
God heard and was wroth, And greatly abhorred Israel;
So he gave up the habitation of Shiloh, The tent he had set up among Men;
61 Eɖo nubablaɖaka si nye eƒe ŋusẽ la ɖe aboyome, eye wòtsɔ eƒe atsyɔ̃nu de asi na futɔ la.
Yea he gave up, into captivity, his strength, And his beauty into the hand of an adversary;
And delivered up, to the sword, his people, And, with his own inheritance, was he wroth;
63 Ena dzo fia eƒe ɖekakpuiwo, eye womedzi srɔ̃ɖeha na eƒe ɖetugbiwo o.
His young men, were devoured by fire, And, his virgins, were not praised in song;
His priests, by the sword, did fall, And, his widows, were not able to bewail.
65 Tete Aƒetɔ la nyɔ tso alɔ̃ me abe ale si aha kɔna le mo na ame si no wain mu la ene.
Then awoke, as one that had slept, Adonay, As a warrior exulting with wine!
66 Enya eƒe futɔwo do ɖe megbe, eye wòdo ŋukpe mavɔ wo.
So he smote his adversaries in the rear, Reproach age-abiding, laid he upon them.
Howbeit he rejected the tent of Joseph, And, the tribe of Ephraim, did not choose:
68 Ke boŋ etia Yuda ƒe to la, esi nye Zion to si wòlɔ̃na vevie.
But made choice of the tribe of Judah, The mountain of Zion, which he loved;
69 Etu eƒe kɔkɔeƒe la abe kɔkɔƒe ene, eye abe anyigba si wòli kee tegbetegbe ene.
And built, like the heights, his sanctuary, Like the earth, he founded it to times age-abiding.
70 Etia David dɔla, eye wòɖee le alẽkpo me;
And made choice of David his servant, And took him from among the folds of the sheep:
71 tso alẽkplɔdɔ me, eye wòkplɔe vɛ be wòakplɔ eƒe dukɔ, Yakob kple eƒe domenyinu, Israel.
From after the sucking ewes, he brought him in, —To be shepherd to Jacob his people, And to Israel, his inheritance.
72 David kpɔ wo dzi le dzi dzɔdzɔe me, eye wòkplɔ wo le aɖaŋu me.
So he did shepherd them, according to the singleness of his heart, And, with the discernment of his hands, used he to guide them.
