1 Poste venis Moseo kaj Aaron, kaj diris al Faraono: Tiel diris la Eternulo, la Dio de Izrael: Permesu, ke Mia popolo iru kaj faru al Mi feston en la dezerto.
After these things, Moses and Aaron entered, and they said to Pharaoh: “Thus says the Lord God of Israel: Release my people, so that they may sacrifice to me in the desert.”
2 Sed Faraono diris: Kiu estas la Eternulo, kies voĉon mi devas obei kaj lasi Izraelon iri? mi ne konas la Eternulon, kaj al Izrael mi ne permesos iri.
But he responded: “Who is the Lord, that I should listen to his voice and release Israel? I do not know the Lord, and I will not release Israel.”
3 Kaj ili diris: La Dio de la Hebreoj vokis nin; permesu, ke ni iru vojon de tri tagoj en la dezerton kaj ni alportu oferon al la Eternulo, nia Dio, por ke Li ne frapu nin per pesto aŭ glavo.
And they said: “The God of the Hebrews has called us, so that we may go three days’ journey into the wilderness and sacrifice to the Lord our God. Otherwise, a pestilence or the sword may befall us.”
4 Sed la reĝo de Egiptujo diris al ili: Kial vi, Moseo kaj Aaron, fortiras la popolon de ĝiaj laboroj? iru al viaj laboroj.
The king of Egypt said to them: “Why do you, Moses and Aaron, distract the people from their works? Go back to your burdens.”
5 Kaj Faraono diris: Jen multenombra estas nun la popolo de la lando, kaj vi volas liberigi ilin de iliaj laboroj!
And Pharaoh said: “The people of the land are many. You see that the turmoil has increased: how much more if you give them rest from the works?”
6 Kaj Faraono ordonis en tiu tago al la voktoj de la popolo kaj al ĝiaj kontrolistoj, dirante:
Therefore, on the same day, he instructed the overseers of the works, and the taskmasters of the people, saying:
7 Ne donu plu pajlon al la popolo por la farado de la brikoj, kiel ĝis nun; ili mem iru kaj kolektu al si pajlon.
“You shall no longer give chaff to the people to form bricks, as before. But they may go and gather straw.
8 Sed la nombron de la brikoj, kiun ili pretigas ĝis nun, postulu de ili, ne malgrandigu ĝin; ĉar ili vagas senlabore, tial ili krias: Ni iru kaj alportu oferon al nia Dio.
And you shall impose upon them the same quota of bricks that they made before. Neither will you lessen anything, for they are idle, and therefore they cry out, saying: ‘We shall go and sacrifice to our God.’
9 Oni devas premi tiujn homojn per la laboro, por ke ili estu okupitaj de ĝi kaj ne atentu mensogajn vortojn.
They shall be oppressed with works, and these shall occupy them, so that they may not agree to lying words.”
10 Tiam eliris la voktoj de la popolo kaj ĝiaj kontrolistoj, kaj diris al la popolo: Tiel diras Faraono: Mi ne donos al vi pajlon;
And so the overseers of the works and the taskmasters went out and said to the people: “Thus says Pharaoh: I give you no chaff.
11 iru mem, prenu al vi pajlon, kie vi trovos; sed el via laboro nenio estos deprenata.
Go, and collect it wherever you are able to find it. Neither will anything of your work be diminished.”
12 Tiam la popolo disiĝis en la tuta lando Egipta, por kolekti pecojn da pajlo.
And the people were dispersed through all the land of Egypt, in order to gather straw.
13 Kaj la voktoj insistadis, dirante: Pretigu vian ĉiutagan laboron, kiel tiam, kiam vi havis pajlon.
Likewise, the overseers of the works pressured them, saying: “Complete your work each day, just as you were accustomed to do before, when straw was given to you.”
14 Kaj la kontrolistojn Izraelidojn, starigitajn super ili de la voktoj de Faraono, oni batadis, dirante: Kial vi ne pretigis vian ordonitan nombron da brikoj hieraŭ kaj hodiaŭ, kiel ĝis nun?
And those who were first in the works of the sons of Israel were scourged by Pharaoh’s taskmasters, saying: “Why have you not filled the quota of bricks, neither yesterday, nor today, just as before?”
15 La kontrolistoj Izraelidoj venis kaj kriis al Faraono, dirante: Kial vi agas tiel kun viaj sklavoj?
And the first among the sons of Israel came, and they cried out to Pharaoh, saying: “Why do act against your servants in this way?
16 Pajlo ne estas donata al viaj sklavoj, kaj brikojn oni ordonas al ni fari; kaj nun viaj sklavoj estas batataj, kaj via popolo pekas.
Straw is not given to us, and yet the same amount of bricks is commanded. So we, your servants, are cut up by scourging, and injustice is done against your people.”
17 Sed li diris: Mallaboruloj vi estas, mallaboruloj, tial vi diras: Ni iru, ni alportu oferon al la Eternulo.
And he said: “You are idle. And for this reason you say, ‘We shall go and sacrifice to the Lord.’
18 Kaj nun iru, laboru, kaj pajlon oni ne donos al vi, kaj la difinitan nombron da brikoj liveru.
Therefore, go and work. Straw will not be given to you, and you will return the customary number of bricks.”
19 Kaj la kontrolistoj Izraelidoj vidis, ke estas al ili malbone, ĉar estas dirite: Ne malgrandigu la ĉiutagan nombron de viaj brikoj.
And the first among the sons of Israel saw themselves in a crisis, because it was said to them, “Nothing at all will be lessened from the bricks throughout each day.”
20 Ili renkontis Moseon kaj Aaronon, kiuj staris antaŭ ili, kiam ili eliris de Faraono.
And they met with Moses and Aaron, who stood opposite them as they departed from Pharaoh.
21 Kaj ili diris al tiuj: La Eternulo rigardu vin, kaj juĝu vin por tio, ke vi malbonodorigis nian odoron antaŭ Faraono kaj antaŭ liaj servantoj, kaj donis glavon en iliajn manojn, por mortigi nin.
And they said to them: “May the Lord see and judge, because you have caused our odor to become foul before Pharaoh and his servants, and you have provided him with a sword, in order to kill us.”
22 Tiam Moseo turnis sin al la Eternulo, kaj diris: Mia Sinjoro! kial Vi faris malbonon al tiu popolo? kial Vi sendis min?
And Moses returned to the Lord, and he said: “Lord, why have you afflicted this people? Why have you sent me?
23 De tiu tempo, kiam mi venis al Faraono, por paroli en Via nomo, li fariĝis pli malbona kontraŭ tiu popolo, kaj Vi ne savis Vian popolon.
For from the time that I entered to Pharaoh, so as to speak in your name, he has afflicted your people. And you have not freed them.”
