1 Korintanoj 14

1 Sekvu amon; tamen deziregu spiritajn donacojn, sed prefere, ke vi profetadu.

Labour after charity, and be desirous of spiritual gifts: but especially that ye may prophesy.

2 Ĉar tiu, kiu per lingvo parolas, ne al homoj parolas, sed al Dio; ĉar neniu komprenas, sed en la spirito li parolas misterojn.

For he, that speaketh in an unknown tongue, speaketh not to men, but to God: for no one understandeth, though in spirit he speaketh mysteries.

3 Sed la profetanto parolas al homoj edifon kaj konsilon kaj konsolon.

But he, that prophesieth, speaketh edification, and exhortation, and comfort to men.

4 Tiu, kiu per lingvo parolas, edifas sin mem; sed la profetanto edifas la eklezion.

He, that speaketh in an unknown tongue, edifieth himself: but he, that prophesieth, edifieth the church.

5 Mi volas, ke vi ĉiuj parolu per lingvoj, sed prefere, ke vi profetadu; kaj pli granda estas la profetanto, ol la per lingvoj parolanta, krom se li ankaŭ interpretas, por ke la eklezio ricevu edifon.

I could wish that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edification.

6 Sed nun, fratoj, se mi venus al vi, parolante per lingvoj, kiel mi vin helpus, se mi ne parolus al vi, aŭ en formo de malkaŝado, aŭ de sciado, aŭ de profetado, aŭ de instruado?

Now, my brethren, if I come to you speaking with many tongues, what shall I profit you, unless I speak intelligibly to you of revelation, or knowledge, or prophecy, or doctrine?

7 Eĉ la senvivaĵoj, kiuj produktas sonon, ĉu fluto, ĉu harpo, se ili ne donas diferencon en la sonoj, kiel oni scios, kio estas flutata aŭ harpata?

As inanimate things which give a found, whether pipe or harp, unless they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall what is piped or harped be understood?

8 Ĉar se la trumpeto donos necertan voĉon, kiu pretiĝos por batalo?

For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who will prepare himself for the battle?

9 Tiel ankaŭ vi, se vi per la lango ne donas parolon facile kompreneblan, kiel oni scios, kio estas parolata? ĉar en la aeron vi parolus.

So also unless ye utter by the tongue intelligible words, how shall what is spoken be understood? for thus ye will be only talking to the wind.

10 Eble estas tiom da specoj de voĉoj en la mondo, kaj nenia estas sensignifa.

There are, it may be, as many kinds of voices in the world as people, and none of them insignificant.

11 Se do mi ne scios la signifon de la voĉo, mi estos, rilate la parolanton, barbaro, kaj la parolanto estos por mi barbaro.

But if I know not the force of the words, I shall be to him that speaketh a barbarian, and he that speaketh will be a barbarian to me.

12 Tiel same ankaŭ vi, dum vi fervore deziras spiritajn donacojn, klopodu, ke vi havu abunde por la edifo de la eklezio.

So ye also, since ye are so desirous of spiritual gifts, seek to abound in them to the edification of the church.

13 Tial kiu parolas per lingvo, tiu preĝu, ke li interpretu.

Wherefore let him, that speaketh in an unknown tongue, pray that he may interpret.

14 Ĉar se mi preĝas per lingvo, mia spirito preĝas, sed mia intelekto estas senfrukta.

For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit indeed prayeth, but my meaning is fruitless.

15 Kio do estas? Mi preĝos spirite, kaj mi preĝos ankaŭ intelekte; mi kantos spirite, kaj mi kantos ankaŭ intelekte.

What is then to be done? I will pray with the Spirit, but I will pray to be understood: I will sing with the spirit, but I will sing to be understood.

16 Alie, se vi benas spirite, kiamaniere tiu, kiu okupas la lokon de la malklerulo, diros Amen ĉe via dankesprimo? ĉar li ne scias, kion vi diras.

For if thou bless in the spirit, how shall the unlearned say Amen to thy thanksgiving, when he knoweth not what thou sayst?

17 Ĉar vi ja bone dankesprimas, sed la alia ne estas edifata.

thou indeed givest thanks well, but the other is not edified.

18 Mi dankas Dion, mi parolas per lingvoj pli ol vi ĉiuj;

I thank God, I speak with tongues more than you all.

19 tamen en la eklezio mi preferus paroli kvin vortojn per mia intelekto, por ke mi instruu ankaŭ aliajn, ol dek mil vortojn per lingvo.

But in a public assembly I had rather speak five words to be understood, that I may instruct others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.

20 Fratoj, ne estu infanoj en viaj mensoj; tamen en malico estu infanetoj, sed en la mensoj estu plenaĝuloj.

My brethren, be not children in sense: but in malice be infants, and in your judgements shew yourselves to be men.

21 En la leĝo estas skribite: Per balbutantaj lipoj kaj per lingvo fremda Mi parolos al ĉi tiu popolo; kaj tamen tiel ili ne volos aŭskulti Min, diras la Eternulo.

It is written in the law, "By men of another language, and by other lips, will I speak to this people, and even so they will not listen to me, saith the Lord."

22 Tial la lingvoj estas kiel signo, ne al la kredantoj, sed al la nekredantoj; sed la profetpovo estas kiel signo, ne al la nekredantoj, sed al la kredantoj.

So that tongues are for a sign, not to believers but to unbelievers: but prophecy not to unbelievers but to those that believe.

23 Se do la tuta eklezio kunvenos, kaj ĉiuj parolos per lingvoj, kaj tien envenos nekleruloj aŭ nekredantoj, ĉu ili ne diros, ke vi frenezas?

If then the whole church be come together and all speak in unknown tongues, and there come in illiterate persons, or infidels, will they not say that ye are mad?

24 Sed se ĉiuj profetos, kaj envenos nekredanto aŭ neklerulo, li estos konvinkata de ĉiuj, li estos juĝata de ĉiuj;

But if all prophesy, and there come in an unbeliever, or one unlearned, he is convinced by all, he is judged by all.

25 la sekretoj de lia koro estos elmontrataj; kaj sekve li falos sur sian vizaĝon kaj adoros Dion, deklarante, ke Dio ja estas ĉe vi.

And thus the secrets of his heart are made manifest; so that falling down upon his face he will worship God, declaring that God is indeed among you.

26 Kio do estas, fratoj? Kiam vi kunvenas, ĉiu havas psalmon, havas instruon, havas malkaŝaĵon, havas lingvon, havas interpretaĵon. Ĉio fariĝu por edifo.

What is then to be done, my brethren? when ye come together, if any of you hath a psalm, a doctrine, a tongue, a revelation, an interpretation, ---let all be done for edification.

27 Se oni parolas per lingvo, tio estu duope, aŭ triope je plejmulto, kaj laŭvice; kaj unu interpretu;

And if any one speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at most by three, and that by turns; and let one interpret.

28 sed se ne ĉeestas interpretanto, oni silentu en la eklezio; kaj li parolu al si kaj al Dio.

But if there be no interpreter, let him be silent in the assembly; and let him speak to himself and to God.

29 Kaj la profetoj parolu duope aŭ triope, kaj la aliaj interdiferencigu.

And let but two or three of the prophets speak, and the others judge.

30 Sed se al alia apudsidanta io malkaŝiĝos, la unua silentu.

And if any thing be revealed to another sitting by, let the first have done speaking before the other begins.

31 Ĉar vi ĉiuj povas profeti unuope laŭvice, por ke ĉiuj lernu, kaj ĉiuj ricevu konsilon;

For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.

32 kaj la spiritoj de la profetoj estas submetataj al la profetoj;

And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets:

33 ĉar Dio estas Dio ne de konfuzo, sed de paco; kiel en ĉiuj eklezioj de la sanktuloj.

for God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as we see in all the assemblies of the saints.

34 La virinoj silentadu en la eklezioj; ĉar ne estas permesate al ili paroli, sed ili submetiĝu, kiel ankaŭ diras la leĝo.

Let your women be silent in your assemblies: for it is not permitted to them to speak, but they are to be in subjection, as the law saith.

35 Kaj se ili volas lerni ion, ili demandu al siaj edzoj hejme; ĉar estas honte por virino paroli en la eklezio.

And if they would learn any thing, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it does not become women to speak in a public assembly.

36 Kio? ĉu el vi la vorto de Dio eliris? ĉu ĝi venis al vi solaj?

Did the word of God come out first from you? or did it come to you only?

37 Se iu ŝajnas al si esti profeto aŭ laŭspirita, li sciiĝu pri tio, kion mi skribas al vi, ke ĝi estas la ordono de la Sinjoro.

If any one seem to be a prophet, or acted by the Spirit, let him acknowlege that what I write to you are the commandments of the Lord.

38 Sed se iu ne scias, li ne sciu.

But if any will be ignorant, let him be ignorant.

39 Tial, fratoj, deziregu profeti, kaj ne malpermesu paroli per lingvoj.

Wherefore, my brethren, be most desirous to prophesy, and yet forbid not to speak with tongues:

40 Sed ĉio fariĝu konvene kaj laŭorde.

but let all things be done decently and in order.
