Proverbs 26

1 As snow in summer, and as rain in harvest, So honour [is] not comely for a fool.

౧ఎండాకాలానికి మంచు ఎలానో కోతకాలానికి వర్షమెలానో అలానే బుద్ధి లేనివాడికి గౌరవం తగినది కాదు.

2 As a bird by wandering, as a swallow by flying, So reviling without cause doth not come.

౨రెక్కలు కొట్టుకుంటూ ఎగురుతున్న పిచ్చుక, రివ్వున ఎగిరిపోయే వానకోయిల ఎలా నేలకు దిగవో అలానే శాపానికి అర్హుడు కాని వాడికి శాపం తగలదు.

3 A whip is for a horse, a bridle for an ass, And a rod for the back of fools.

౩గుర్రానికి చెర్నాకోల. గాడిదకు కళ్ళెం. మూర్ఖుల వీపుకు బెత్తం.

4 Answer not a fool according to his folly, Lest thou be like to him — even thou.

౪మూర్ఖుడి మూఢత చొప్పున వాడికి జవాబు ఇవ్వద్దు. అలా ఇస్తే నువ్వు కూడా వాడి లాగానే ఉంటావు.

5 Answer a fool according to his folly, Lest he be wise in his own eyes.

౫వాడి మూర్ఖత్వం చొప్పున మూర్ఖుడికి జవాబివ్వు. అలా చేయకపోతే వాడు తన దృష్టికి తాను జ్ఞానిననుకుంటాడు.

6 He is cutting off feet, he is drinking injury, Who is sending things by the hand of a fool.

౬మూర్ఖుడితో కబురు పంపేవాడు కాళ్లు తెగగొట్టుకుని విషం తాగిన వాడితో సమానం.

7 Weak have been the two legs of the lame, And a parable in the mouth of fools.

౭అవిటి వాడి కాళ్ళలో బలం ఉండదు. బుద్ధిలేని వాడి నోటిలో సామెత కూడా అంతే.

8 As one who is binding a stone in a sling, So [is] he who is giving honour to a fool.

౮బుద్ధిలేని వాణ్ణి గొప్ప చేసే వాడు వడిసెలలో రాయి కదలకుండా కట్టేసే వాడితో సమానం.

9 A thorn hath gone up into the hand of a drunkard, And a parable in the mouth of fools.

౯మూర్ఖుల నోట సామెత మత్తులో ఉన్న వాడి చేతిలో ముల్లు గుచ్చుకున్నట్టు ఉంటుంది.

10 Great [is] the Former of all, And He is rewarding a fool, And is rewarding transgressors.

౧౦బుద్ధిలేని వాణ్ణి, లేదా అటుగా వెళ్తూ ఉండే ఎవరో ఒకరిని కూలికి పెట్టుకునే వాడు అందరినీ గాయపరచే విలుకాడితో సమానం.

11 As a dog hath returned to its vomit, A fool is repeating his folly.

౧౧తన మూర్ఖత్వాన్ని పదేపదే బయట పెట్టుకునే వాడు కక్కిన దాన్ని తినడానికి తిరిగే కుక్కతో సమానం.

12 Thou hast seen a man wise in his own eyes, More hope of a fool than of him!

౧౨తానే జ్ఞాని అనుకునే వాణ్ణి చూసావా? వాణ్ణి సరి చేయడం కంటే మూర్ఖుణ్ణి సరి చేయడం తేలిక.

13 The slothful hath said, 'A lion [is] in the way, A lion [is] in the broad places.'

౧౩సోమరి “దారిలో సింహం ఉంది” అంటాడు. “ఆరు బయట సింహం పొంచి ఉంది” అంటాడు.

14 The door turneth round on its hinge, And the slothful on his bed.

౧౪బందుల మీద తలుపు తిరుగుతుంది. తన మంచం మీద సోమరి అటూ ఇటూ పొర్లుతాడు.

15 The slothful hath hid his hand in a dish, He is weary of bringing it back to his mouth.

౧౫కంచంలో సోమరి తన చెయ్యి ముంచుతాడు. దాన్ని తిరిగి నోటికి ఎత్తుకోవడం అతనికి బద్ధకం.

16 Wiser [is] the slothful in his own eyes, Than seven [men] returning a reason.

౧౬సహేతుకమైన కారణాలు చూపగల ఏడుగురి కంటే సోమరి తానే జ్ఞానిననుకుంటాడు.

17 Laying hold on the ears of a dog, [Is] a passer-by making himself wrath for strife not his own.

౧౭తనకు సంబంధంలేని పోట్లాటలో తల దూర్చేవాడు. దారినపోయే కుక్క చెవులు పట్టుకొనే వాడితో సమానం.

18 As [one] pretending to be feeble, Who is casting sparks, arrows, and death,

౧౮తన పొరుగువాణ్ణి మోసపుచ్చి నేను నవ్వులాటకు చేశాననే వాడు నిప్పు బాణాలు విసిరే వెర్రి వాడితో సమానం.

19 So hath a man deceived his neighbour, And hath said, 'Am not I playing?'

20 Without wood is fire going out, And without a tale-bearer, contention ceaseth,

౨౦కట్టెలు లేకపోతే మంట ఆరిపోతుంది. కొండేలు చెప్పేవాడు లేకపొతే జగడం చల్లారుతుంది.

21 Coal to burning coals, and wood to fire, And a man of contentions to kindle strife.

౨౧నిప్పు కణికెలకు బొగ్గులు, అగ్నికి కట్టెలు. పోట్లాటలు రేపడానికి కలహప్రియుడు.

22 The words of a tale-bearer [are] as self-inflicted wounds, And they have gone down [to] the inner parts of the heart.

౨౨కొండేలు రుచిగల పదార్థాల వంటివి. అవి కడుపులోకి మెత్తగా దిగిపోతాయి.

23 Silver of dross spread over potsherd, [Are] burning lips and an evil heart.

౨౩చెడు హృదయం ఉండి ప్రేమగా మాట్లాడే పెదాలు ఉండడం మట్టి పెంకుపై పూసిన వెండి పూతతో సమానం.

24 By his lips doth a hater dissemble, And in his heart he placeth deceit,

౨౪పగవాడు పెదాలతో మాయలు చేసి అంతరంగంలో కపటం దాచుకుంటాడు.

25 When his voice is gracious trust not in him, For seven abominations [are] in his heart.

౨౫వాడు దయగా మాటలాడితే వాడి మాట నమ్మవద్దు. వాడి హృదయంలో ఏడు అసహ్యమైన విషయాలు ఉన్నాయి.

26 Hatred is covered by deceit, Revealed is its wickedness in an assembly.

౨౬వాడు తన ద్వేషాన్ని కపట వేషంతో కప్పుకుంటాడు. సమాజంలో వాడి చెడుతనం బట్టబయలు అవుతుంది.

27 Whoso is digging a pit falleth into it, And the roller of a stone, to him it turneth.

౨౭గుంట తవ్వే వాడే దానిలో పడతాడు. రాతిని పొర్లించే వాడి మీదికే అది తిరిగి వస్తుంది.

28 A lying tongue hateth its bruised ones, And a flattering mouth worketh an overthrow!

౨౮అబద్ధాలాడే నాలుక తాను నలగగొట్టిన వాళ్ళను ద్వేషిస్తుంది. ముఖస్తుతి మాటలు పలికే నోరు నాశనం తెస్తుంది.
