Malachi 2
1 And now, to you [is] this charge, O priests,
Maintenant donc, [c’est] pour vous [qu’est] ce décret, ô prêtres.
2 If ye hearken not, and if ye lay [it] not to heart, To give honour to My name, said Jehovah of Hosts, I have sent against you the curse, And I have cursed your blessings, Yea, I have also cursed it, Because ye are not laying [it] to heart.
Si vous n’écoutez pas et si vous ne prenez pas à cœur de donner gloire à mon nom, dit Yahweh des armées, j’enverrai contre vous la malédiction, et je maudirai vos bénédictions; — et déjà je les ai maudites, parce que vous n’avez pas pris à cœur! —
3 Lo, I am pushing away before you the seed, And have scattered dung before your faces, Dung of your festivals, And it hath taken you away with it.
Voici que je ferai manquer vos semences, je répandrai du fumier sur vos visages, le fumier de vos fêtes, et on vous emportera avec lui.
4 And ye have known that I have sent unto you this charge, For My covenant being with Levi, Said Jehovah of Hosts.
Vous saurez alors que je vous ai adressé ce décret, afin que mon alliance avec Lévi demeure, dit Yahweh des armées.
5 My covenant hath been with him of life and of peace, And I make them to him a fear, and he doth fear Me, And because of My name he hath been affrighted.
Mon alliance avec Lévi fut [une alliance de] vie et de paix, et je lui donnai ces biens; [une alliance de] crainte, et il me craignit et trembla devant mon nom.
6 The law of truth hath been in his mouth, And perverseness hath not been found in his lips, In peace and in uprightness he walked with Me, And many he brought back from iniquity.
La loi de vérité était dans sa bouche, et il ne se trouvait pas d’iniquité sur ses lèvres; il marchait avec moi dans la paix et la droiture, et il détourna du mal un grand nombre [d’hommes].
7 For the lips of a priest preserve knowledge, And law they do seek from his mouth, For a messenger of Jehovah of Hosts he [is].
Car les lèvres du prêtre gardent la science, et de sa bouche on demande l’enseignement, parce qu’il est l’ange de Yahweh des armées.
8 And ye, ye have turned from the way, Ye have caused many to stumble in the law, Ye have corrupted the covenant of Levi, Said Jehovah of Hosts.
Mais vous, vous vous êtes écartés de la voie; vous en avez fait trébucher un grand nombre dans la loi; vous avez perverti l’alliance de Lévi, dit Yahweh des armées.
9 And I also, I have made you despised and low before all the people, Because ye are not keeping My ways, And are accepting persons in the law.
Et moi, à mon tour, je vous ai rendus méprisables et vils pour tout le peuple, parce que vous ne gardez pas mes voies et que vous avez égard aux personnes en [appliquant] la loi.
10 Have we not all one father? Hath not our God prepared us? Wherefore do we deal treacherously, Each against his brother, To pollute the covenant of our fathers?
N’y a-t-il pas un même père pour nous tous? Un même Dieu ne nous a-t-il pas [tous] créés? Pourquoi sommes-nous infidèles l’un envers l’autre, profanant l’alliance de nos pères?
11 Dealt treacherously hath Judah, And abomination hath been done in Israel, and in Jerusalem, For polluted hath Judah the holy thing of Jehovah, That He hath loved, and hath married the daughter of a strange god.
Juda est infidèle, et une abomination est commise en Israël et à Jérusalem; car Juda profane ce qui est consacré à Yahweh, ce que [Yahweh] aime; il épouse la fille d’un dieu étranger.
12 Cut off doth Jehovah the man who doth it, Tempter and tempted — from the tents of Jacob, Even he who is bringing nigh a present to Jehovah of Hosts.
Pour l’homme qui fait cela, que Yahweh retranche des tentes de Jacob celui qui veille et celui qui répond, et celui qui offre l’oblation à Yahweh des armées!
13 And this a second time ye do, Covering with tears the altar of Jehovah, With weeping and groaning, Because there is no more turning unto the present, Or receiving of a pleasing thing from your hand.
Voici une seconde chose que vous faites: vous couvrez de larmes l’autel de Yahweh, [vous le couvrez] de pleurs et de gémissements, en sorte que Yahweh n’a plus égard à l’oblation, et qu’il ne reçoit plus de votre main une [offrande] agréable.
14 And ye have said, 'Wherefore?' Because Jehovah hath testified between thee And the wife of thy youth, That thou hast dealt treacherously against her, And she thy companion, and thy covenant-wife.
Et vous dites: « Pourquoi? » — Parce que Yahweh a été témoin entre toi et la femme de ta jeunesse, à laquelle tu as été infidèle, elle qui était ta compagne et la femme de ton alliance.
15 And He did not make one [only], And He hath the remnant of the Spirit. And what [is] the one [alone]! He is seeking a godly seed. And ye have been watchful over your spirit, And with the wife of thy youth, None doth deal treacherously.
Aucun n’a fait cela, ayant du reste de l’Esprit [divin]. — » Et que [fit] l’Un? » — Il cherchait une postérité divine. Prenez donc garde à votre vie, et que [nul] ne soit infidèle à la femme de sa jeunesse.
16 For [I] hate sending away, said Jehovah, God of Israel, And He [who] hath covered violence with his clothing, said Jehovah of Hosts, And ye have been watchful over your spirit, And ye do not deal treacherously.
Car je hais la répudiation, dit Yahweh, le Dieu d’Israël; car c’est couvrir de violence son vêtement, dit Yahweh des armées. Prenez donc garde à votre vie et ne soyez pas infidèles.
17 Ye have wearied Jehovah with your words, And ye have said: 'In what have we wearied Him?' In your saying: 'Every evil-doer [is] good in the eyes of Jehovah, And in them He is delighting,' Or, 'Where [is] the God of judgment?'
Vous avez fatigué Yahweh par vos paroles. Et vous dites: « En quoi l’avons-nous fatigué? » — En disant: « Quiconque fait le mal est bon aux yeux de Yahweh, et en ces gens-là il prend plaisir! » Ou bien: « Où est le Dieu de la justice? »
