Luke 24
1 And on the first of the sabbaths, at early dawn, they came to the tomb, bearing the spices they made ready, and certain [others] with them,
Le jour du sabbat, elles se reposèrent, selon le commandement; mais, le premier jour de la semaine, à l'aube, elles se rendirent au tombeau, portant les aromates qu'elles avaient préparés.
2 and they found the stone having been rolled away from the tomb,
Elles trouvèrent qu'on avait roulé la pierre loin du sépulcre,
3 and having gone in, they found not the body of the Lord Jesus.
et, étant entrées, elles ne trouvèrent point le corps du Seigneur Jésus.
4 And it came to pass, while they are perplexed about this, that lo, two men stood by them in glittering apparel,
Elles ne savaient qu'en penser, lorsque leur apparurent deux hommes vêtus d'habits d'une éclatante blancheur.
5 and on their having become afraid, and having inclined the face to the earth, they said to them, 'Why do ye seek the living with the dead?
Comme elles étaient saisies de frayeur, et qu'elles baissaient la tête vers la terre, ils leur dirent: «Pourquoi cherchez-vous parmi les morts celui qui est vivant?
6 he is not here, but was raised; remember how he spake to you, being yet in Galilee,
Il n'est point ici, mais il est ressuscité. Rappelez- vous la manière dont il vous a parlé, quand, étant encore en Galilée,
7 saying — It behoveth the Son of Man to be delivered up to the hands of sinful men, and to be crucified, and the third day to rise again.'
il vous disait qu'il fallait que le Fils de l'homme fût livré entre les mains des pécheurs, qu'il fût crucifié, et qu'il ressuscitât le troisième jour.»
8 And they remembered his sayings,
Alors, elles se ressouvinrent des paroles de Jésus,
9 and having turned back from the tomb told all these things to the eleven, and to all the rest.
et, à leur retour du sépulcre, elles rapportèrent toutes ces choses aux Onze et à tous les autres disciples.
10 And it was the Magdalene Mary, and Joanna, and Mary of James, and the other women with them, who told unto the apostles these things,
Celles qui leur firent ce rapport, étaient Marie Madeleine, Jeanne, Marie, mère de Jacques, et les autres femmes qui étaient avec elles;
11 and their sayings appeared before them as idle talk, and they were not believing them.
mais les apôtres ne virent dans ce rapport que des rêveries et ne crurent point ces femmes.
12 And Peter having risen, did run to the tomb, and having stooped down he seeth the linen clothes lying alone, and he went away to his own home, wondering at that which was come to pass.
[Toutefois Pierre se leva, courut au sépulcre, et, s'étant baissé, il vit les bandes qui étaient à terre, toutes seules, et s'en retourna chez lui, surpris de ce qui était arrivé.]
13 And, lo, two of them were going on during that day to a village, distant sixty furlongs from Jerusalem, the name of which [is] Emmaus,
Ce même jour, deux disciples allaient dans un village nommé Emmaüs, éloigné de Jérusalem de soixante stades;
14 and they were conversing with one another about all these things that have happened.
et ils s'entretenaient de tous ces événements.
15 And it came to pass in their conversing and reasoning together, that Jesus himself, having come nigh, was going on with them,
Pendant qu'ils parlaient et discutaient, Jésus lui-même s'approcha, et fit route avec eux.
16 and their eyes were holden so as not to know him,
Mais ils avaient comme un bandeau sur les yeux, de sorte qu'ils ne le reconnurent point.
17 and he said unto them, 'What [are] these words that ye exchange with one another, walking, and ye are sad?'
Il leur dit: «De quoi vous entretenez-vous chemin faisant?... et vous êtes tout tristes.»
18 And the one, whose name was Cleopas, answering, said unto him, 'Art thou alone such a stranger in Jerusalem, that thou hast not known the things that came to pass in it in these days?'
L'un d'eux, qui s'appelait Cléopas, lui répondit: «Tu es bien le seul dans Jérusalem, qui ne sache pas ce qui s'est passé ces derniers jours.»
19 And he said to them, 'What things?' And they said to him, 'The things about Jesus of Nazareth, who became a man — a prophet — powerful in deed and word, before God and all the people,
— «Et quoi?» leur dit-il. Ils lui répondirent: «Ce qui est arrivé à Jésus de Nazareth, qui était un prophète puissant en oeuvres et en paroles, devant Dieu et devant tout le peuple:
20 how also the chief priests and our rulers did deliver him up to a judgment of death, and crucified him;
comment nos principaux sacrificateurs et nos sénateurs l'ont livré pour être condamné à mort, et l'ont crucifié.
21 and we were hoping that he it is who is about to redeem Israel, and also with all these things, this third day is passing to-day, since these things happened.
Pour nous, nous espérions que ce serait lui qui délivrerait Israël; mais, après tout cela, voici le troisième jour, aujourd'hui, que ces événements se sont passés.
22 'And certain women of ours also astonished us, coming early to the tomb,
Il est vrai que des femmes qui sont avec nous, nous ont extraordinairement surpris: elles s'étaient rendues au point du jour au sépulcre,
23 and not having found his body, they came, saying also to have seen an apparition of messengers, who say he is alive,
et, n'ayant point trouvé son corps, elles sont venues dire que des anges leur sont apparus, et qu'ils le disent vivant.
24 and certain of those with us went away unto the tomb, and found as even the women said, and him they saw not.'
Quelques-uns des nôtres sont allés au sépulcre, ils ont trouvé toutes choses comme les femmes l’avaient annoncé; mais lui, ils ne l’ont pas vu.»
25 And he said unto them, 'O inconsiderate and slow in heart, to believe on all that the prophets spake!
Alors il leur dit: «Hommes dépourvus de sens, esprits lents à croire tout ce qu'ont dit les prophètes!
26 Was it not behoving the Christ these things to suffer, and to enter into his glory?'
Ne fallait-il pas que le Messie passât par ces souffrances pour entrer dans sa gloire?»
27 and having begun from Moses, and from all the prophets, he was expounding to them in all the Writings the things about himself.
Puis, commençant par Moïse, et poursuivant par tous les prophètes, il leur expliqua, dans toutes les Ecritures, ce qui le concernait.
28 And they came nigh to the village whither they were going, and he made an appearance of going on further,
Cependant ils approchèrent du village où ils se rendaient, et comme l’étranger paraissait vouloir aller plus loin,
29 and they constrained him, saying, 'Remain with us, for it is toward evening,' and the day did decline, and he went in to remain with them.
ils le pressèrent de s'arrêter, disant: «Reste avec nous; car voici le soir, et le jour a déjà baissé; »et il entra dans le village pour rester avec eux.
30 And it came to pass, in his reclining (at meat) with them, having taken the bread, he blessed, and having broken, he was giving to them,
Quand il se mit à table avec eux, il prit le pain, et ayant prononcé la bénédiction, il le rompit, et le leur donna:
31 and their eyes were opened, and they recognized him, and he became unseen by them.
alors leurs yeux se dessillèrent; ils le reconnurent; mais il disparut de devant leurs yeux.
32 And they said one to another, 'Was not our heart burning within us, as he was speaking to us in the way, and as he was opening up to us the Writings?'
Ils se dirent l'un à l'autre: «Notre coeur n'était-il pas tout brûlant au dedans de nous, lorsqu'il nous parlait en chemin, et qu'il nous expliquait les Écritures?»
33 And they, having risen up the same hour, turned back to Jerusalem, and found gathered together the eleven, and those with them,
Et, se levant à l'heure même, ils retournèrent à Jérusalem. Ils trouvèrent réunis les Onze et leurs compagnons,
34 saying — 'The Lord was raised indeed, and was seen by Simon;'
qui leur dirent: «Le Seigneur est réellement ressuscité, et il est apparu à Simon.»
35 and they were telling the things in the way, and how he was made known to them in the breaking of the bread,
Ils racontèrent à leur tour, ce qui leur était arrivé en chemin, et comment ils l'avaient reconnu au moment où il avait rompu le pain.
36 and as they are speaking these things, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith to them, 'Peace — to you;'
Pendant qu'ils s'entretenaient ainsi, lui-même parut au milieu d'eux.
37 and being amazed, and becoming affrighted, they were thinking themselves to see a spirit.
Frappés de stupeur et d'effroi, ils crurent voir un esprit;
38 And he said to them, 'Why are ye troubled? and wherefore do reasonings come up in your hearts?
et Jésus leur dit: «Pourquoi êtes-vous troublés? Pourquoi vous faites-vous des idées folles?
39 see my hands and my feet, that I am he; handle me and see, because a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me having.'
Voyez mes mains et mes pieds: c'est bien moi. Palpez-moi, et considérez qu'un esprit n'a ni chair ni os, comme vous voyez que j'en ai.»
40 And having said this, he shewed to them the hands and the feet,
[Après avoir ainsi parlé, il leur montra ses mains et ses pieds.]
41 and while they are not believing from the joy, and wondering, he said to them, 'Have ye anything here to eat?'
Comme la joie les rendait encore incrédules, et qu'ils ne revenaient pas de leur surprise, il leur dit: «Avez-vous ici quelque chose à manger?»
42 and they gave to him part of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb,
Ils lui présentèrent un morceau de poisson rôti et un rayon de miel.
43 and having taken, he did eat before them,
Il les prit, et les mangea devant eux.
44 and he said to them, 'These [are] the words that I spake unto you, being yet with you, that it behoveth to be fulfilled all the things that are written in the Law of Moses, and the Prophets, and the Psalms, about me.'
Puis il leur, dit: «C'est là ce que je vous annonçais quand j'étais encore avec vous; je vous disais qu'il fallait que s'accomplit tout ce qui est écrit de moi dans la Loi de Moïse, dans les Prophètes et dans les Psaumes.»
45 Then opened he up their understanding to understand the Writings,
Alors il leur ouvrit l'esprit, afin qu'ils entendissent les Ecritures.
46 and he said to them — 'Thus it hath been written, and thus it was behoving the Christ to suffer, and to rise out of the dead the third day,
Et il leur dit: «C'est ainsi qu'il est écrit que le Messie souffrirait, et qu'il ressusciterait des morts le troisième jour,
47 and reformation and remission of sins to be proclaimed in his name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem:
et qu'on prêcherait en son nom la repentance et le pardon des péchés à toutes les nations, en commençant par Jérusalem.
48 and ye — ye are witnesses of these things.
Vous êtes témoins de ces faits.
49 'And, lo, I do send the promise of my Father upon you, but ye — abide ye in the city of Jerusalem till ye be clothed with power from on high.'
Maintenant, je vais vous envoyer ce que mon Père vous a promis; pour vous, demeurez tranquillement dans la ville, jusqu'à ce que vous soyez revêtus d'une puissance qui vient d'en haut.»
50 And he led them forth without — unto Bethany, and having lifted up his hands he did bless them,
Il les emmena hors de la ville, jusqu’à Béthanie; et, élevant les mains, il les bénit.
51 and it came to pass, in his blessing them, he was parted from them, and was borne up to the heaven;
Pendant qu'il les bénissait, il se sépara d'eux.
52 and they, having bowed before him, did turn back to Jerusalem with great joy,
Pour eux, ils s'en retournèrent à Jérusalem, pleins d'une grande joie;
53 and were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.
et ils étaient continuellement dans le temple, louant et bénissant Dieu.
