Isaiah 9
1 As the former time made light The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, So the latter hath honoured the way of the sea, Beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the nations.
Denn nicht wird Düster bleiben, wo Drangsal war! In der früheren Zeit hat er Schmach über das Land Sebulon und das Land Naphthali gebracht, aber in der künftigen Zeit wird er die Straße nach dem Meere, das Gelände am Jordan, den Bezirk der Heiden, zu Ehren bringen.
2 The people who are walking in darkness Have seen a great light, Dwellers in a land of death-shade, Light hath shone upon them.
Das Volk, das in Finsternis wandert, wird ein großes Licht erblicken; über denen, die in umnachtetem Lande wohnen, wird ein Licht erglänzen.
3 Thou hast multiplied the nation, Thou hast made great its joy, They have joyed before Thee as the joy in harvest, As [men] rejoice in their apportioning spoil.
Du wirst reichen Jubel geben, wirst große Freude verleihen! Sie werden sich vor dir freuen, wie man sich in der Ernte freut, wie man jubelt, wenn man Beute teilt.
4 Because the yoke of its burden, And the staff of its shoulder, the rod of its exactor, Thou hast broken as [in] the day of Midian.
Denn das Joch, das sie drückt, und den Stab auf ihrem Nacken, den Stock ihres Treibers, zerbrichst du wie am Tage der Midianiterschlacht.
5 For every battle of a warrior [is] with rushing, and raiment rolled in blood, And it hath been for burning — fuel of fire.
Denn jeglicher Schuh, der im Getümmel einhertritt, und die durch Blutlachen dahingeschleiften Gewänder werden verbrannt, dem Feuer zur Speise!
6 For a Child hath been born to us, A Son hath been given to us, And the princely power is on his shoulder, And He doth call his name Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Father of Eternity, Prince of Peace.
Denn ein Kind wird uns geboren, ein Sohn wird uns gegeben, und die Herrschaft kommt auf seine Schulter, und er nennt ihn: Wunderrat, Gottheld, Ewiger, Friedensfürst.
7 To the increase of the princely power, And of peace, there is no end, On the throne of David, and on his kingdom, To establish it, and to support it, In judgment and in righteousness, Henceforth, even unto the age, The zeal of Jehovah of Hosts doth this.
Groß ist die Herrschaft und der Friede ohne Ende auf dem Throne Davids und über seinem Königreiche, indem er es festigt und stützt durch gerechtes Gericht von nun an auf ewig. Der Eifer Jahwes der Heerscharen wird solches thun!
8 A word hath the Lord sent into Jacob, And it hath fallen in Israel.
Der Herr hat ein Wort wider Jakob ausgesandt - das wird in Israel niederfallen,
9 And the people have known — all of it, Ephraim, and the inhabitant of Samaria, In pride and in greatness of heart, saying,
und das ganze Volk soll es spüren, Ephraim und die Bewohner Samarias - wider den Hochmut und stolzen Sinn, in dem sie sprachen:
10 'Bricks have fallen, and hewn work we build, Sycamores have been cut down, and cedars we renew.'
Backsteine sind eingefallen, aber mit Quadern wollen wir aufbauen! Sykomoren sind umgehauen, aber Cedern wollen wir an ihre Stelle setzen!
11 And Jehovah setteth the adversaries of Rezin on high above him, And his enemies he joineth together,
Und Jahwe erhob Rezin über sie und stachelte fort und fort ihre Feinde auf,
12 Aram from before, and Philistia from behind, And they devour Israel with the whole mouth. With all this not turned back hath His anger, And still His hand is stretched out.
Aram im Osten und die Philister im Westen, und sie fraßen Israel mit vollem Maule. Bei alledem wandte sich sein Zorn nicht, und blieb seine Hand noch ausgereckt.
13 And the people hath not turned back unto Him who is smiting it, And Jehovah of Hosts they have not sought.
Aber das Volk wandte sich nicht zu dem, der es schlug, und nach Jahwe der Heerscharen fragten sie nicht.
14 And Jehovah cutteth off from Israel head and tail, Branch and reed — the same day,
Da hieb Jahwe von Israel ab Kopf und Schwanz, Palmzweig und Binse, an einem Tage -
15 Elder, and accepted of face, he [is] the head, Prophet, teacher of falsehood, he [is] the tail.
die Vornehmen und Angesehenen sind der Kopf, und die Propheten, die Lügen reden, sind der Schwanz -
16 And the eulogists of this people are causing to err, And its eulogised ones are consumed.
und die Führer dieses Volks wurden Irreleiter und die Geführten zu Grunde gerichtet.
17 Therefore, over its young men the Lord rejoiceth not, And its orphans, and its widows He pitieth not, For every one [is] profane, and an evil doer, And every mouth is speaking folly. With all this not turned back hath His anger, And still His hand is stretched out.
Deshalb verschont der Herr weder seine junge Mannschaft, noch erbarmt er sich seiner Waisen und Witwen; denn sie alle sind Ruchlose und Bösewichter, und jeder Mund redet Schändliches. Bei alledem wandte sich sein Zorn nicht, und blieb seine Hand noch ausgereckt.
18 For burned as a fire hath wickedness, Brier and thorn it devoureth, And it kindleth in thickets of the forest, And they lift themselves up, an exaltation of smoke!
Denn die Gottlosigkeit brannte wie Feuer, das Dornen und Gestrüpp verzehrt, und zündete das Dickicht des Waldes an, daß es in hochwirbelndem Rauch aufging.
19 In the wrath of Jehovah of Hosts Hath the land been consumed, And the people is as fuel of fire; A man on his brother hath no pity,
Durch den Ingrimm Jahwes der Heerscharen brannte das Land aus, und wurde das Volk wie dem Feuer zur Speise, keiner verschonte den andern!
20 And cutteth down on the right, and hath been hungry, And he devoureth on the left, And they have not been satisfied, Each the flesh of his own arm they devour.
Rissen sie rechts Stücke ab, so blieben sie doch hungrig; fraßen sie links, so wurden sie doch nicht satt. Sie fraßen ein jeder das Fleisch seines eigenen Arms:
21 Manasseh — Ephraim, and Ephraim — Manasseh, Together they [are] against Judah, With all this not turned back hath His anger. And still His hand is stretched out!
Manasse den Ephraim und Ephraim den Manasse, sie beide vereint wider Juda, - bei alledem wandte sich sein Zorn nicht, und blieb seine Hand noch ausgereckt.
