1 Kings 13
1 And lo, a man of God hath come from Judah, by the word of Jehovah, unto Beth-El, and Jeroboam is standing by the altar — to make perfume;
da erschien zu Bethel auf das Geheiß Jahwes ein Gottesmann aus Juda, als Jerobeam eben am Altare stand, um zu räuchern.
2 and he calleth against the altar, by the word of Jehovah, and saith, 'Altar! altar! thus said Jehovah, Lo, a son is born to the house of David — Josiah his name — and he hath sacrificed on thee the priests of the high places who are making perfume on thee, and bones of man are burnt on thee.'
Der rief wider den Altar auf Geheiß Jahwes und sprach: Altar, Altar! so spricht Jahwe: Einst wird dem Hause Davids ein Sohn geboren werden, namens Josia; der wird auf dir die Höhenpriester schlachten, die auf dir räuchern, und Menschengebeine wird man auf dir verbrennen!
3 And he hath given on that day a sign, saying, 'This [is] the sign that Jehovah hath spoken, Lo, the altar is rent, and the ashes poured forth that [are] on it.'
Und er kündigte jenes Tags ein Wahrzeichen an, indem er sprach: Dies ist das Wahrzeichen, daß Jahwe solches geredet hat: der Altar wird bersten, daß die Fettasche, die darauf ist, verschüttet wird.
4 And it cometh to pass, at the king's hearing the word of the man of God that he calleth against the altar in Beth-El, that Jeroboam putteth forth his hand from off the altar, saying, 'Catch him;' and his hand is dried up that he hath put forth against him, and he is not able to bring it back unto him,
Als aber der König das Wort des Gottesmannes vernahm, das dieser wider den Altar zu Bethel rief, streckte Jerobeam vom Altar herab seine Hand aus und befahl: Greift ihn! Da verdorrte seine Hand, die er wider ihn ausgestreckt hatte, und er konnte sie nicht wieder an sich ziehen.
5 and the altar is rent, and the ashes poured forth from the altar, according to the sign that the man of God had given by the word of Jehovah.
Der Altar aber barst, und die Fettasche wurde vom Altar herab verschüttet, gemäß dem Wahrzeichen, das der Gottesmann auf Geheiß Jahwes angekündigt hatte.
6 And the king answereth and saith unto the man of God, 'Appease, I pray thee, the face of Jehovah thy God, and pray for me, and my hand doth come back unto me;' and the man of God appeaseth the face of Jehovah, and the hand of the king cometh back unto him, and it is as at the beginning.
Da hob der König an und sprach zu dem Gottesmanne: Begütige doch Jahwe, deinen Gott, und bitte für mich, daß ich meine Hand wieder an mich ziehen könne! Da begütigte der Gottesmann Jahwe, so daß der König seine Hand wieder an sich ziehen konnte, und sie war wie zuvor.
7 And the king speaketh unto the man of God, 'Come in with me to the house, and refresh thyself, and I give to thee a gift.'
Darauf redete der König mit dem Gottesmann und sprach: Komm mit mir ins Haus und labe dich, so will ich dir ein Geschenk geben!
8 And the man of God saith unto the king, 'If thou dost give to me the half of thine house, I do not go in with thee, nor do I eat bread, nor do I drink water, in this place;
Der Gottesmann aber erwiderte dem Könige: Und wenn du mir die Hälfte deines Besitzes gäbest, so käme ich doch nicht mit dir, würde auch keine Speise nehmen noch Wasser trinken an diesem Ort.
9 for so He commanded me by the word of Jehovah, saying, Thou dost not eat bread nor drink water, nor turn back in the way that thou hast come.'
Denn also ist mir befohlen durch das Wort Jahwes, welches lautete: Du darfst dort weder Speise nehmen noch Wasser trinken und darfst den Weg, den du gegangen bist, nicht nochmals einschlagen!
10 And he goeth on in another way, and hath not turned back in the way in which he came in unto Beth-El.
Hierauf zog er auf einem anderen Wege von dannen und kehrte nicht auf demselben Weg zurück, den er nach Bethel gekommen war.
11 And a certain aged prophet is dwelling in Beth-El, and his son cometh and recounteth to him all the deed that the man of God hath done to-day in Beth-El, the words that he hath spoken unto the king, — yea, they recount them to their father.
Es wohnte aber ein alter Prophet zu Bethel; dessen Söhne kamen und erzählten ihm alles, was der Gottesmann jenes Tags zu Bethel gethan hatte, und die Worte, die er zum Könige geredet hatte. Als sie das ihrem Vater erzählt hatten,
12 And their father saith unto them, 'Where [is] this — the way he hath gone?' and his sons see the way that the man of God hath gone who came from Judah.
fragte sie ihr Vater: Welchen Weg ist er von dannen gezogen? Da wiesen ihm seine Söhne den Weg, den der Gottesmann gezogen war, der aus Juda gekommen war.
13 And he saith unto his sons, 'Saddle for me the ass,' and they saddle for him the ass, and he rideth on it,
Er aber gebot seinen Söhnen: Sattelt mir den Esel! Und als sie ihm den Esel gesattelt hatten, bestieg er ihn,
14 and goeth after the man of God, and findeth him sitting under the oak, and saith unto him, 'Art thou the man of God who hast come from Judah?' and he saith, 'I [am].'
ritt dem Gottesmanne nach und fand ihn unter der Terebinthe sitzend. Da fragte er ihn: Bist du der Gottesmann, der aus Juda gekommen ist? Er antwortete: Ja.
15 And he saith unto him, 'Come with me to the house, and eat bread.'
Da bat er ihn: Komm mit mir heim und nimm Speise!
16 And he saith, 'I am not able to turn back with thee, and to go in with thee, nor do I eat bread or drink with thee water in this place,
Er aber sprach: Ich kann nicht mit dir umkehren und dich begleiten, werde auch weder Speise nehmen, noch Wasser trinken an diesem Ort.
17 for a word [is] unto me by the word of Jehovah, Thou dost not eat bread nor drink there water, thou dost not turn back to go in the way in which thou camest.'
Denn durch das Wort Jahwes ist zu mir geredet worden: Du darfst weder Speise nehmen, noch Wasser daselbst trinken; du darfst den Weg, den du gegangen bist, nicht nochmals einschlagen!
18 And he saith to him, 'I also [am] a prophet like thee, and a messenger spake unto me by the word of Jehovah, saying, Bring him back with thee unto thy house, and he doth eat bread and drink water;' — he hath lied to him.
Da sprach er zu ihm: Auch ich bin ein Prophet wie du, und auf das Geheiß Jahwes hat ein Engel also zu mir geredet: “Bringe ihn wieder mit dir heim, daß er Speise nehme und Wasser trinke”! Damit belog er ihn.
19 And he turneth back with him, and eateth bread in his house, and drinketh water.
Da kehrte er mit ihm um und nahm Speise in seinem Haus und trank Wasser.
20 And it cometh to pass — they are sitting at the table — and a word of Jehovah is unto the prophet who brought him back,
Während sie aber zu Tische saßen, erging das Wort Jahwes an den Propheten, der ihn zurückgeholt hatte.
21 and he calleth unto the man of God who came from Judah, saying, 'Thus said Jehovah, Because that thou hast provoked the mouth of Jehovah, and hast not kept the command that Jehovah thy God charged thee,
Da rief er dem Gottesmanne, der aus Juda gekommen war, Folgendes zu: So spricht Jahwe: Darum daß du dich gegen den Befehl Jahwes aufgelehnt und das Gebot, das dir Jahwe, dein Gott, gab, nicht beobachtet hast,
22 and turnest back and dost eat bread and drink water in the place of which He said unto thee, Thou dost not eat bread nor drink water — thy carcase cometh not in unto the burying-place of thy fathers.'
sondern bist umgekehrt, hast Speise genommen und Wasser getrunken an dem Ort, von dem er dir sagte: du darfst dort weder Speise nehmen, noch Wasser trinken! so soll dein Leichnam nicht in deiner Väter Grab kommen!
23 And it cometh to pass, after his eating bread, and after his drinking, that he saddleth for him the ass, for the prophet whom he had brought back,
Nachdem er nun Speise genommen und nachdem er getrunken hatte, ließ er ihm den Esel satteln, den des Propheten, der ihn zurückgeholt hatte.
24 and he goeth, and a lion findeth him in the way, and putteth him to death, and his carcase is cast in the way, and the ass is standing near it, and the lion is standing near the carcase.
Als er aber weggezogen war, traf unterwegs ein Löwe auf ihn; der tötete ihn. Und sein Leichnam lag hingestreckt auf dem Weg, und der Esel stand neben ihm, und der Löwe neben dem Leichnam.
25 And lo, men are passing by, and see the carcase cast in the way, and the lion standing near the carcase, and they come and speak [of it] in the city in which the old prophet is dwelling.
Als nun Leute vorübergingen, da sahen sie den Leichnam auf dem Wege hingestreckt und den Löwen neben dem Leichnam stehen. Da kamen sie und erzählten es in der Stadt, in der der alte Prophet wohnte.
26 And the prophet who brought him back out of the way heareth and saith, 'It [is] the man of God who provoked the mouth of Jehovah, and Jehovah giveth him to the lion, and it destroyeth him, and putteth him to death, according to the word of Jehovah that he spake to him.'
Als nun der Prophet, der ihn von dem bereits angetretenen Wege zurückgeholt hatte, davon hörte, rief er: Es ist der Gottesmann, der sich gegen den Befehl Jahwes aufgelehnt hat; darum hat ihn Jahwe dem Löwen preisgegeben: der hat ihn zermalmt und getötet gemäß dem Worte Jahwes, das er zu ihm geredet hat.
27 And he speaketh unto his sons saying, 'Saddle for me the ass,' and they saddle [it].
Dann sprach er also zu seinen Söhnen: Sattelt mir den Esel! Sie thaten es.
28 And he goeth and findeth his carcase cast in the way, and the ass and the lion are standing near the carcase — the lion hath not eaten the carcase nor destroyed the ass.
Da ritt er hin und fand seinen Leichnam auf dem Weg hingestreckt, den Esel aber und den Löwen neben dem Leichnam stehen. Der Löwe hatte weder den Leichnam gefressen noch den Esel zermalmt.
29 And the prophet taketh up the carcase of the man of God, and placeth it on the ass, and bringeth it back, and the old prophet cometh in unto the city to mourn and to bury him,
Da hob der Prophet den Leichnam des Gottesmannes auf, legte ihn auf den Esel und führte ihn zurück. Und er kam in die Stadt des alten Propheten, um die Totenklage zu halten und ihn zu begraben.
30 and he placeth his carcase in his own grave, and they mourn for him, 'Oh, my brother!'
Er legte aber den Leichnam in sein eigenes Grab, und man hielt um ihn die Klage: Ach mein Bruder!
31 And it cometh to pass, after his burying him, that he speaketh unto his sons, saying, 'At my death — ye have buried me in the burying-place in which the man of God is buried; near his bones place my bones;
Und als er ihn begraben hatte, sprach er also zu seinen Söhnen: Wenn ich gestorben bin, so begrabt mich in dem Grab, in welchem der Gottesmann begraben ist; neben seine Gebeine legt meine Gebeine, damit meine Gebeine unversehrt gelassen werden mit seinen Gebeinen!
32 for the word certainly cometh to pass that he called by the word of Jehovah concerning the altar which [is] Beth-El, and concerning all the houses of the high places that [are] in cities of Samaria.'
Denn die Drohung, die er auf Geheiß Jahwes wider den Altar zu Bethel und wider alle Höhentempel in den Städten Samarias ausgerufen hat, wird sicher in Erfüllung gehen!
33 After this thing Jeroboam hath not turned from his evil way, and turneth back, and maketh of the extremities of the people priests of high places; he who is desirous he consecrateth his hand, and he is of the priests of the high places.
Auch nach dieser Begebenheit bekehrte sich Jerobeam nicht von seinem schlimmen Wandel, sondern bestellte aufs Neue alle beliebigen Leute zu Höhenpriestern. Wer da wollte, dem füllte er die Hand, und so wurde der ein Höhenpriester.
34 And in this thing is the sin of the house of Jeroboam, even to cut [it] off, and to destroy [it] from off the face of the ground.
Solches aber geriet dem Hause Jerobeams zur Versündigung und zur Vernichtung und Vertilgung vom Erdboden hinweg.
