Numbers 35
1 And the Lord spak these thingis to Moises, in the feeldi places of Moab, aboue Jordan,
Og Herren tala atter til Moses på Moabmoarne ved Jordan, midt for Jeriko, og sagde:
2 ayens Jericho, Comaunde thou to the sones of Israel, that thei yyue to dekenes of her possessiouns,
«Seg til Israels-sønerne: «De skal gjeva levitarne byar til bustad i det landet de kjem til å eiga, og utmarki som ligg ikring, skal de og lata levitarne få.
3 citees to dwelle, and the suburbabis of tho bi cumpas, that thei dwelle in `the citees, and the suburbabis be to beestis, and `werk beestis;
Byarne skal dei hava til å bu i, og utmarki som høyrer til, skal vera til beite for klyvdyri og feet og all buskapen deira.
4 whiche suburbabis schulen be strecchid forth fro the wallis of citees with outforth `bi cumpas, in the space of a thousynde paacis;
Utmarki som de gjev levitarne, skal nå tusund alner ut ifrå bymuren rundt ikring.
5 ayens the eest schulen be two thousynde cubitis, and ayens the south in lijk manere schulen be two thousynde cubitis, and at the see that biholdith to the west schal be the same mesure, and the north coost schal be endid bi euene terme. And the citees schulen be in the myddis, and the suburbabis with outforth.
Utanfor byen skal de mæla upp tvo tusund alner på austsida, og tvo tusund alner på sudsida, og tvo tusund alner på vestsida, og tvo tusund alner på nordsida, og byen skal liggja midt i; det skal vera bymarkerne deira.
6 Forsothe of tho citees whiche ye schulen yyue to dekenes, sixe schulen be departid in to helpis of fugityues, `ether of fleynge men, that he that schedde blood, fle to tho; and outakun these sixe, ye schulen yyue to dekenes othere two and fourti citees,
Dei byarne som de gjev levitarne, skal vera dei seks fredstaderne, som dråpsmenner kann røma til, og attåt deim skal de gjeva tvo og fyrti andre byar.
7 that is, togidere eiyte and fourti, with her surburbabis.
I alt skal de gjeva levitarne åtte og fyrti byar med beitemarkerne som høyrer til.
8 And tho citees that schulen be youun of the possessiouns of sones of Israel, schulen be takun awey, mo fro hem that han more, and fewere `schulen be takun awey fro hem that han lesse, alle bi hem silf schulen yyue bi the mesure of her eritage, citees to dekenes.
Og av dei byarne som de gjev deim av eigedomen åt Israels-sønerne, skal dei taka fleire frå den som hev mykje land, og færre frå den som hev lite. Kvar skal gjeva levitarne byar etter som han hev fenge land til.»»
9 The Lord seide to Moises,
Og Herren tala atter til Moses, og sagde:
10 Spek thou to the sones of Israel, and thou schalt seie to hem, Whanne ye han passid Jordan, in the lond of Canaan,
«Tala til Israels-sønerne og seg til deim: «Når de fer yver Jordan og til Kana’ans-landet,
11 deme ye whiche citees owen to be in to the helpis of fugityues, whiche not wilfuli han sched blood.
so lyt de velja dykk ut nokre byar som de skal hava til fredstader, so ein dråpsmann som uviljande hev drepe nokon, kann røma dit.
12 In whiche whanne the fleere hath fled, the kynesman of hym that is slayn, schal not mow sle hym, til he stonde in the siyt of the multitude, and the cause of hym be demed.
Dei byarne skal vera dykk til ei trygd mot den som vil hemna dråpet, so dråpsmannen ikkje skal lata livet, fyrr han hev stade til doms for lyden.
13 Forsothe of tho citees that ben departid to the helpis of fugityues,
Dei byarne som de tek til fredstader, skal vera seks i talet.
14 thre schulen be ouer Jordan, and thre in the lond of Canaan;
Tri av deim skal vera på austsida av Jordan og tri i Kana’ans-landet; fredstader skal dei vera.
15 as wel to the sones of Israel as to comelyngis and pilgryms; that he fle to tho citees, that schedde blood not wilfuli.
Både for Israels-borni og for dei framande og innflutte som bur millom deim, skal desse seks byarne vera til ei livd, so den som uviljande hev drepe nokon, kann søkja dit.
16 If ony man smytith a man with yrun, and he that is smytun is deed, `the smyter schal be gilti of mansleyng, and he schal die.
Den som slær ein med eit jarnhandyvle, so han døyr, han er ein manndråpar, og manndråparen skal lata livet.
17 If he castith a stoon, and a man is deed bi the strook, he schal be punyschid in lijk maner.
Tek nokon ein stein, stor nok til å drepa ein mann, og slær ein med so han døyr, då er han ein manndråpar, og manndråparen skal lata livet.
18 If a man smytun with a staf dieth, he schal be vengid bi `the blood of the smytere.
Tek nokon eit trehandyvle som dei kann drepa folk med, og slær ein med det, so han døyr, då er han ein manndråpar, og manndråparen skal lata livet.
19 The niy kynesman of hym that is slayn schal sle the mansleere; anoon as he takith hym, `that is, the manquellere, he schal sle hym.
Det er blodhemnaren kann slå manndråparen i hel; so snøgt som han finn honom, skal han slå honom i hel.
20 If bi haterede a man hurtlith, `ethir schoufith, `a man, ethir castith ony thing in to hym bi aspiyngis,
Dersom nokon støyter til ein av hat, eller kastar noko på honom med vilje, so han døyr,
21 ether whanne he was enemy, smoot with hond, and he is deed, the smytere schal be gilti of mansleyng. The kynesman `of him that is slayn, anoon as he findith him, `that is, the sleere, schal sle hym.
eller av fiendskap slær ein med neven, so han døyr, so skal den som gjorde det lata livet; han er ein manndråpar: og blodhemnaren skal slå honom i hel so snøgt han finn honom.
22 That if bi sudeyn caas, and without hatrede and enemytees,
Men dersom nokon støyter til ein av vanvare, utan fiendskap, eller kastar einkvar tingen på honom mot sin vilje,
23 he doith ony thing of these;
eller råmar honom med ein stein, stor nok til å drepa ein mann, og ikkje ser honom, og han døyr av det, men dråpsmannen ikkje var hans uven eller vilde honom vondt,
24 and this is preued in heryng `of the puple, and the questioun of blood is discussid bitwixe the smytere and the kynesman,
då skal lyden døma millom dråpsmannen og blodhemnaren etter desse loverne.
25 the innocent schal be delyuered fro the hond of the vengere, and bi sentence of iugis he schal be led ayen in to the citee, to which he fledde, and he schal dwelle there, til the grete preest die, which is anoyntid with oile.
Og lyden skal verja dråpsmannen for blodhemnaren, og føra honom attende til fredstaden som han hadde søkt til, og der skal han vera til øvstepresten, han som er salva med den heilage oljen, er avliden.
26 If the sleere is foundun with out the coostis `of the citees that ben asigned to exilid men,
Men kjem han utum fredstaden som han hev tydt til,
27 and is slayn of him that is vengere, he that sleeth him, `that is, the exilid man, schal be with out gilt;
og blodhemnaren råkar honom der - utanfor fredstaden - so kann hemnaren slå honom i hel, og det skal ikkje reknast for manndråp;
28 for the exilid man ouyte sitte in the citee `til to the `deth of the bischop; forsothe aftir that thilke bischop is deed, the mansleere schal turne ayen in to his lond.
for dråpsmannen lyt halda seg i fredstaden sin, til øvstepresten er avliden; då fyrst kann han fara heim att til si eigi bygd og sin eigedom.
29 These schulen be euerlastynge and lawful thingis in alle youre dwellyngis.
Dette skal gjelda for lov og rett hjå dykk alle tider og alle stader.
30 A mansleere schal be punyschid vndur witnessis; no man schal `be dampned at the witnessyng of o man.
Hev nokon gjort manndråp, so skal han lata livet, so framt det er meir enn eitt vitne mot honom; etter ein manns vitnemål må ingen dømast frå livet.
31 Ye schulen not take prijs of him which is gilti of blood, anoon and he schal die.
De må ikkje taka imot løysepengar for ein som er saka i manndråp og dømt til dauden, han skal lata livet.
32 Men exilid, and fugityues, schulen not mow turne ayen in ony maner in to her citees, bifore the deeth of the bischop, lest ye defoulen the lond of youre abitacioun,
Og de må ikkje taka imot løysepengar for ein som hev tydt til ein fredstad, og lata honom koma ut att og bu ein annan stad i landet, fyrr øvstepresten er avliden.
33 which is defoulid bi the blood of innocent men; and it may not be clensid in other maner, no but bi the blood of hym, that schedde the blood of anothir man.
De skal ikkje vanhelga det landet de bur i; for blodet vanhelgar landet, og landet fær ikkje soning for blodet som hev runne der utan med blodet av den som rende det ut.
34 And so youre possessioun schal be clensid, for Y schal dwelle with you; for Y am the Lord, that dwelle among the sones of Israel.
Difor skal du ikkje sulka det landet de bur i, og som eg hev min bustad i; for eg Herren, hev bustaden min millom Israels-folket.»»
