Numbers 16
1 Lo! forsothe Chore, the sone of Isuar, sone of Caath, sone of Leuy, and Dathan and Abiron, the sones of Heliab, and Hon, the sone of Pheleph, of the sones of Ruben, rysen ayens Moises,
Korah, son åt Jishar Kahatsson av Levi-ætti, og Datan og Abiram, sønerne hans Eliab, og On Peletsson av Rubens-ætti tok til å yppa seg mot Moses,
2 and othere of the sones of Israel, two hundryd men and fifti, prynces of the synagoge, and whiche weren clepid bi names in the tyme of counsel.

3 And whanne `thei hadden stonde ayens Moises and Aaron, thei seiden, Suffice it to you, for al the multitude is of hooly men, and the Lord is in hem; whi ben ye reisid on the puple of the Lord?
Dei slo seg i hop mot Moses og Aron, og sagde til deim: «No lyt det vera nok! Heile lyden er heilag, alle saman, og Herren er midt imillom deim; kvi vil då de all tid halda dykk gildare enn Herrens lyd?»
4 And whanne Moises hadde herd this, he felde lowe on the face.
Då Moses høyrde det, kasta han seg ned på jordi.
5 And he spak to Chore, and to al the multitude; he seide, Eerli the Lord schal make knowun whiche perteynen to hym, and he schal applie to hym hooli men; and thei whiche he hath chose, schulen neiye to hym.
Og han tala til Korah og heile flokken hans, og sagde: «I morgon vil Herren syna kven som er hans folk, og kven som er heilag og kann koma inn til honom, og dei som han då vel, skal få koma inn til honom.
6 Therfor do ye this thing; ech man take his cencere, thou Chore, and al thi counsel;
Gjer no so, du Korah og heile flokken din: Tak i morgon med dykk glodfat,
7 and to morewe whanne fier is takun vp, putte ye encense aboue bifor the Lord, and whom euer the Lord chesith, he schal be hooli. Ye sones of Leuy ben myche reisid.
og hav eld i deim, og legg røykjelse på elden for Herrens åsyn, og den som Herren vel, han skal vera heilag. Lat so det vera nok, de Levi-søner!»
8 And eft Moises seide to Chore, Ye sones of Leuy, here.
Og endå sagde Moses til Korah: «Høyr no, de Levi-søner!
9 Whether it is litil to you, that God of Israel departide you fro al the puple, and ioynede you to hym silf, that ye schulden serue hym in the seruyce of tabernacle, and that ye schulden stonde bifor the multitude of puple, and schulden serue hym?
Er de ikkje nøgde med at Israels Gud hev skilt dykk ut frå Israels-lyden, so de skulde vera næmare honom og greida arbeidet i Herrens hus, og ganga lyden til handa?
10 Made he therfor thee and alle thi bretheren the sones of Leuy to neiy to hym silf, that ye chalenge to you also preesthod,
Han hev teke deg og alle brørne dine, Levi-sønerne, innåt seg, og no trår de etter preste-embættet og?
11 and al thi gaderyng togidere stonde ayens the Lord? For whi what is Aaron, that ye grutchen ayens hym?
Det er mot Herren de hev slege dykk i hop, du og heile flokken din; for kva er Aron? Kann det vera verdt å setja seg upp i mot honom?»
12 Therfor Moises sente to clepe Dathan and Abiron, the sones of Heliab; whiche answeriden, We comen not.
So sende Moses bod etter Datan og Abiram, sønerne hans Eliab; men dei svara: «Me kjem ikkje!
13 Whethir is it litil to thee, that thou leddist vs out of the lond that flowide with mylk and hony, to sle vs in the deseert, no but also thou be lord of vs?
Er det ikkje nok at du lokka oss burt frå eit land som fløymer med mjølk og honning, so me skulde døy i øydemarki? Vil du no attpå råda og rikja yver oss?
14 Verili thou hast bronyt vs in to the lond that flowith with streemys of mylk and hony, and hast youe to vs possessioun of feeldis, and of vyneris; whethir also thou wolt putte out oure iyen?
Ikkje heller hev du ført oss til eit land som fløymer med mjølk og honning, og gjeve oss åkrar og aldehagar til eiga! Trur du då du kann synkverva desse mennerne? Me kjem ikkje!»
15 We comen not. And Moises was wrooth greetli, and seide to the Lord, Biholde thou not the sacrifices of hem; thou wost that Y took neuere of hem, yhe, a litil asse, nethir Y turmentide ony of hem.
Då vart Moses brennande harm, og han sagde til Herren: «Ansa ikkje offeret deira! Ikkje so mykje som eit asen hev eg teke frå deim, og ingen av deim hev eg gjort noko til meins.»
16 And Moises seide to Chore, Thou and al thi congregacioun stonde asidis half bifor the Lord, and Aaron to morewe bi hym silf.
So sagde han til Korah: «Møt no fram for Herrens åsyn i morgon, du og heile flokken din! Aron skal og møta fram,
17 Take ye alle bi you silf youre censeris, and putte ye encense in tho, and offre ye to the Lord, tweyn hundrid and fifti censeris; and Aaron holde his censer.
og de skal taka kvar sitt glodfat og leggja røykjelse på deim, og bera deim fram for Herrens åsyn, tvo hundrad og femti glodfat, og du og Aron skal og taka kvar sitt glodfat.»
18 And whanne thei hadden do this, while Moises and Aaron stoden,
So tok dei kvar sitt glodfat, og hadde eld i deim, og lagde røykjelse på og stod i møtetjelddøri, og det same gjorde Moses og Aron;
19 and thei hadden gaderid al the multitude to the `dore of the tabernacle ayens hem, the glorie of the Lord apperide to alle.
og Korah samla heile lyden imot dei framanfor møtetjelddøri. Då synte Herrens herlegdom seg for heile lyden.
20 And the Lord spak to Moises and Aaron,
Og Herren tala til Moses og Aron, og sagde:
21 and seide, Be ye departid fro the myddis of this congregacioun, that Y leese hem sodeynli.
«Skil dykk frå denne lyden, so skal eg gjera ende på deim, so fort som ein blunkar med auga.»
22 Whiche felden lowe on the face, and seiden, Strongeste God of the spiritis of al fleisch, whethir `thin yre schal be fers ayens alle men, for o man synneth?
Men dei kasta seg på kne, og sagde: «Allvelduge Gud, du som råder yver alle manneliv, vert du vill på heile lyden, for di ein mann syndar?»
23 And the Lord seide to Moises,
Og Herren svara Moses:
24 Comaunde thou to al the puple, that it be departid fro the tabernaclis of Chore, and of Dathan, and of Abiron.
«Seg til folket at dei skal hava seg burt frå bustaden åt Korah og Datan og Abiram og frå alt som derikring er!»
25 And Moises roos, and yede to Dathan and Abiron; and while the eldre men of Israel sueden hym,
So reiste Moses seg upp og gjekk burt til Datan og Abiram, og Israels hovdingar fylgde honom.
26 he seide to the cumpeny, Go ye awey fro the tabernaclis of wickid men, and nyle ye touche tho thingis that parteynen to hem, lest ye ben wlappid in the synnes of hem.
Og han tala til folket, og sagde: «Gakk burt frå husi åt desse gudlause mennerne, og kom ikkje innåt noko som høyrer deim til; elles kjem de og til å lida for alle synderne deira!»
27 And whanne thei hadden gon awei fro the tentis `of hem bi the cumpas, Dathan and Abiron yeden out, and stoden in the entryng of her tentis, with wyues, and fre children, and al the multitude.
Då flutte dei seg burt frå buderne åt Korah og Datan og Abiram og alt som var ikring um. Men Datan og Abiram kom ut og stod i buddøri med konorne sine og borni, både store og små.
28 And Moises seide, In this ye schulen wite that the Lord sente me, that Y schulde do alle thingis whiche ye seen, and Y brouyte not forth tho of myn owne herte.
Og Moses sagde: «Dette skal de hava til merke på at Herren hev sendt meg til å gjera alle desse verki, og at det ikkje er av meg sjølv eg gjer det:
29 If thei perischen bi customable deeth of men, and wounde visite hem, bi which also othere men ben wont to be visitid,
dersom desse døyr på same vis som anna folk, og møter lagnaden som alle andre menneskje, so hev Herren ikkje sendt meg;
30 the Lord sente not me; but if the Lord doith a newe thing, that the erthe opene his mouth, and swolewe hem, and alle thingis that perteynen to hem, and thei goen doun quyke in to helle, ye schulen wite that thei blasfemeden the Lord. (Sheol h7585)
men dersom Herren let henda noko som aldri fyrr hev hendt, dersom jordi let upp gapet sitt, og gløyper deim og alt som deira er, so dei fer livande ned i helheimen, so veit de at desse mennerne hev spotta Herren.» (Sheol h7585)
31 Therfor anoon as he cesside to speke, the erthe was brokun vndur her feet,
Ikkje fyrr hadde han sagt dei ordi, so rivna grunnen under føterne deira;
32 and the erthe openyde his mouth, and deuowride hem, with her tabernaclis, and al the catel `of hem;
jordi let upp gapet sitt, og gløypte deim og husi deira og alt folket hans Korah og alt det dei åtte.
33 and thei yeden doun quike in to helle, and weren hilid with erthe, and perischiden fro the myddis of the multitude. (Sheol h7585)
Dei for livande ned i helheimen med alt som deira var, jordi gøymde deim, og dei kvarv burt or lyden. (Sheol h7585)
34 And sotheli al Israel that stood bi the cumpas, fledde fro the cry of men perischinge, and seide, Lest perauenture the erthe swolewe also vs.
Og heile Israel, som stod rundt ikring, rømde då dei høyrde skriket deira; dei var rædde jordi skulde gløypa deim med.
35 But also fier yede out fro the Lord, and killide tweyn hundrid and fifti men that offriden encense.
So for det eld ut frå Herren, og brende upp dei tvo hundrad og femti mennerne som hadde bore fram røykjelse.
36 And the Lord spak to Moises, and seide,
Då tala Herren til Moses, og sagde:
37 Comaunde thou to Eleasar, sone of Aaron, preest, that he take the censeris that liggen in the brennyng, and that he schatere the fier hidur and thidur; for tho ben halewid in the dethis of synneris;
«Seg til Eleazar, son åt Aron, øvstepresten, at han skal taka upp glodfati som ligg att der elden hev fare, og strå glørne vidt utyver! For heilage er dei,
38 and that he bringe forth tho in to platis, and naile to the auter, for encense is offrid in tho to the Lord, and tho ben halewid, that the sonis of Israel se tho for a signe and memorial.
glodfati åt desse mennerne som laut lata livet for syndi si; de skal hamra dei ut til plator, og klæda altaret med deim. Dei hev vorte framborne for Herrens åsyn; difor er dei heilage, og skal vera eit varsl for Israels-borni.»
39 Therfor Eleazar, preest, took the brasun senseris, in whiche censeris thei whiche the brennyng deuouride hadden offrid, and he `brouyt forth tho in to platis, and nailide to the auter;
Og Eleazar, presten, gjorde som Moses hadde sagt honom frå Herren: han tok koparfati som dei hadde bore fram dei mennerne som brann upp, og smedarne hamra plator av deim til å klæda altaret med,
40 that the sones of Israel schulden haue thingis aftirward, bi whiche thei schulden remembre, lest ony alien, and which is not of the seed of Aaron, neiy to offre encense to the Lord, lest he suffre, as Chore sufferide, and al his multitude, while the Lord spak to Moises.
so Israels-borni skulde koma i hug at ingen framand, ingen som ikkje er av Arons ætt, må ganga fram og brenna røykjelse for Herrens åsyn; elles kjem han til å fara same ferdi som Korah og hans flokk.
41 Forsothe al the multitude of the sones of Israel grutchide in the dai suynge ayens Moises and Aaron, and seide, Ye han slayn the puple of the Lord.
Dagen etter mukka heile Israels-lyden mot Moses og Aron, og sagde: «Det er de som hev drepe Herrens folk!»
42 And whanne discensioun roos,
og ålmugen tok til å samla seg mot deim. Moses og Aron vende seg mot møtetjeldet; då såg dei at skyi låg yver tjeldet, og herlegdomen åt Herren skein fram.
43 and noise encresside, Moises and Aaron fledden to the tabernacle of the boond of pees; and aftir that thei entriden in to it, a cloude hilide the tabernacle, and the glorie of the Lord apperide.
So gjekk dei fram for møtetjeldet,
44 And the Lord seide to Moises and to Aaron,
Og Herren tala til Moses, og sagde:
45 Go ye awey fro the myddis of this multitude, also now Y schal do awey hem. And whanne thei laien in the erthe, Moises seide to Aaron,
«Sjå til å koma dykk burt frå denne hopen, so skal eg tyna dei i ein augneblink!» Då kasta dei seg på kne,
46 Take the censer, and whanne fyer is takun vp of the auter, caste encense aboue, and go soone to the puple, that thou preye for hem; for now ire is gon out fro the Lord, and the wounde is feers.
og Moses sagde til Aron: «Tak glodfatet; legg i gløder frå altaret, og hav røykjelse uppå, og skunda deg so burt til lyden med det, og gjer soning for deim! For Herren hev slept harmen sin laus - sotti er komi!»
47 And whanne Aaron hadde do this, and hadde runne to the myddis of the multitude, which the brennynge wastid thanne, he offeride encense;
Aron gjorde som Moses sagde, og tok glodfatet og sprang midt inn i flokken; sotti hadde då alt teke til å herja millom folket. So lagde han røykjelsen på gløderne, og bad ei soningsbøn for folket,
48 and he stood bytwixe the deed men and lyuynge, and bisouyte for the puple, and the wounde ceesside.
med han stod der millom daude og livande. Då stana sotti;
49 Sotheli thei that weren smytun weren fourtene thousynde of men and seuene hundrid, with outen hem that perischiden in the discencioun of Chore.
men det var fjortan tusund og sju hundrad som døydde i den sotti, umfram deim som miste livet for Korahs skuld.
50 And Aaron turnyde ayen to Moyses, to the dore of the tabernacle of boond of pees, aftir that the perischyng restide.
Då sotti hadde gjeve seg, gjekk Aron attende til Moses, til møtetjelddøri.
