John 12
1 Jesus however, six days before the passover, came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, who had been dead, and whom He raised from the dead.
過越の祭の六日 前に、イエス、ベタニヤに來り給ふ、ここは死人の中より甦へらせ給ひしラザロの居る處なり。
2 Therefore they made Him a supper there, and Martha waited at table, but Lazarus was one of them that sat down with Him.
此處にてイエスのために饗宴を設け、マルタは事へ、ラザロはイエスと共に席に著ける者の中にあり。
3 And Mary taking a pound of ointment of spikenard of great value, anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped them with her hair; and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.
マリヤは價 高き混りなきナルドの香 油 一斤を持ち來りて、イエスの御足にぬり、己が頭髮にて御足を拭ひしに、香 油のかをり家に滿ちたり。
4 Therefore said one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, who was about to betray Him,
御弟子の一人にて、イエスを賣らんとするイスカリオテのユダ言ふ、
5 Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence and given to the poor?
『何ぞこの香 油を三 百デナリに賣りて、貧しき者に施さざる』
6 He said this, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and having the common purse he carried what was put into it.
かく云へるは貧しき者を思ふ故にあらず、おのれ盜人にして、財嚢を預り、その中に納むる物を掠めゐたればなり。
7 Jesus therefore said, Let her alone, she hath reserved this as for the day of my burial.
イエス言ひ給ふ『この女の爲すに任せよ、我が葬りの日のために之を貯へたるなり。
8 For the poor ye have always with you, but me ye have not always.
貧しき者は常に汝らと偕に居れども、我は常に居らぬなり』
9 And a great number of the Jews understanding that He was there, came not only on account of Jesus, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom He had raised from the dead.
ユダヤの多くの民ども、イエスの此處に居給ふことを知りて來る、これはイエスの爲のみにあらず、死人の中より甦へらせ給ひしラザロを見んとてなり。
10 Wherefore the chief priests took counsel to put Lazarus also to death.
かくて祭司長ら、ラザロをも殺さんと議る。
11 Because on his account many of the Jews went away from them, and believed on Jesus.
彼のために多くのユダヤ人さり往きてイエスを信ぜし故なり。
12 The next day a great multitude that were come to the feast, hearing that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, took branches of palm-trees,
明くる日、祭に來りし多くの民ども、イエスのエルサレムに來り給ふをきき、
13 and went out to meet Him, and cried, Hosanna! blessed be the king of Israel, who cometh in the name of the Lord.
棕梠の枝をとりて出で迎へ、『「ホサナ、讃むべきかな、主の御名によりて來る者」イスラエルの王』と呼はる。
14 And Jesus having gotten a young ass sat thereon,
イエスは小驢馬を得て之に乘り給ふ。これは録して、
15 as it is written, "Fear not, O daughter of Sion, behold thy king cometh sitting on an ass's colt."
『シオンの娘よ、懼るな。視よ、なんぢの王は驢馬の子に乘りて來り給ふ』と有るが如し。
16 Now his disciples did not understand these things at the first: but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written concerning Him, and that they had done thus unto Him.
弟子たちは最初これらの事を悟らざりしが、イエスの榮光を受け給ひし後に、これらの事のイエスに就きて録されたると、人々が斯く爲ししとを思ひ出せり。
17 And the people that were with Him testified, that He called Lazarus out of the grave, and raised him from the dead:
ラザロを墓より呼び起し、死人の中より甦へらせ給ひし時に、イエスと偕に居りし群衆、證をなせり。
18 and for this reason the people went to meet Him, because they heard that He had done this miracle.
群衆のイエスを迎へたるは、かかる徴を行ひ給ひしことを聞きたるに因りてなり。
19 The pharisees therefore said among themselves, Do ye not see that ye prevail nothing? Behold, all the world is gone after Him.
パリサイ人ら互に言ふ『見るべし、汝らの謀ることの益なきを。視よ、世は彼に從へり』
20 And among those that came up to worship at the feast there were certain Greeks:
禮拜せんとて祭に上りたる者の中に、ギリシヤ人 數人ありしが、
21 that came to Philip who was of Bethsaida in Galilee, and asked him, saying, Sir, we have a desire to see Jesus.
ガリラヤなるベツサイダのピリポに來り、請ひて言ふ『君よ、われらイエスに謁えんことを願ふ』
22 And Philip cometh and telleth Andrew, and then Andrew and Philip told Jesus.
ピリポ往きてアンデレに告げ、アンデレとピリポと共に往きてイエスに告ぐ。
23 And Jesus answered them saying, The time is come that the Son of man is to be glorified.
イエス答へて言ひ給ふ『人の子の榮光を受くべき時きたれり。
24 Though I tell you indeed and in truth, Except a grain of wheat fall into the ground and die, it remaineth alone; but if it die, it produceth much fruit.
誠にまことに汝らに告ぐ、一粒の麥、地に落ちて死なずば、唯一つにて在らん、もし死なば、多くの果を結ぶべし。
25 So he, that loveth his life, shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world, shall preserve it unto life eternal. (aiōnios g166)
己が生命を愛する者は、これを失ひ、この世にてその生命を憎む者は、之を保ちて永遠の生命に至るべし。 (aiōnios g166)
26 If any man would serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: and if any one serve me, him will my Father honour.
人もし我に事へんとせば、我に從へ、わが居る處に我に事ふる者もまた居るべし。人もし我に事ふることをせば、我が父これを貴び給はん。
27 Now is my soul troubled, and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I to this hour.
今わが心さわぐ、われ何を言ふべきか。父よ、この時より我を救ひ給へ、されど我この爲にこの時に到れり。
28 Father, glorify thy name. Then came a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.
父よ、御名の榮光をあらはし給へ』ここに天より聲いでて言ふ『われ既に榮光をあらはしたり、復さらに顯さん』
29 The people therefore that stood by, and heard it, said, That it was thunder: but others said, it was an angel spake to Him.
傍らに立てる群衆これを聞きて『雷霆 鳴れり』と言ひ、ある人々は『御使かれに語れるなり』と言ふ。
30 Jesus answered and said, This voice came not for my sake, but for yours.
イエス答へて言ひ給ふ『この聲の來りしは、我が爲にあらず、汝らの爲なり。
31 Now is the judgement of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.
今この世の審判は來れり、今この世の君は逐ひ出さるべし。
32 And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, shall draw all men unto me.
我もし地より擧げられなば、凡ての人をわが許に引きよせん』
33 This He said, signifying what death He should die.
かく言ひて、己が如何なる死にて死ぬるかを示し給へり。
34 The people answered Him, We have heard out of the law, that the Messiah abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, the Son of man must be lifted up? who is this Son of man? (aiōn g165)
群衆こたふ『われら律法によりて、キリストは永遠に存へ給ふと聞きたるに、汝いかなれば人の子は擧げらるべしと言ふか、その人の子とは誰なるか』 (aiōn g165)
35 Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while the light is to be with you; walk while ye have the light, least darkness overtake you; for he that walketh in the dark knoweth not whither he goeth.
イエス言ひ給ふ『なほ暫し光は汝らの中にあり、光のある間に歩みて、暗黒に追及かれぬやうにせよ、暗き中を歩む者は往方を知らず。
36 While ye have the light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and then went away, and concealed himself from them.
光の子とならんために、光のある間に光を信ぜよ』イエス此 等のことを語りてのち、彼らを避けて隱れ給へり。
37 But though He had done so many miracles before their eyes, yet they did not believe on Him:
かく多くの徴を人々の前におこなひ給ひたれど、なほ彼を信ぜざりき。
38 so that the word of Esaias the prophet was fulfilled, which he spake, saying, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?
これ預言者イザヤの言の成就せん爲なり。曰く『主よ、我らに聞きたる言を誰か信ぜし。主の御腕は誰にあらはれし』
39 And therefore they could not believe; for Esaias had also said,
彼らが信じ得ざりしは此の故なり。即ちイザヤまた云へらく、
40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart, that they might not see with their eyes, and understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.
『彼らの眼を暗くし、心を頑固にし給へり。これ目にて見、心にて悟り、ひるがへりて、我に醫さるる事なからん爲なり』
41 These things said Esaias when he saw his glory, and spake concerning Him.
イザヤの斯く云へるは、その榮光を見し故にて、イエスに就きて語りしなり。
42 There were however many of the chief rulers that believed on Him; but because of the pharisees they did not confess it, lest they should be excommunicated.
されど司たちの中にもイエスを信じたるもの多かりしが、パリサイ人の故によりて言ひ顯すことをせざりき、除名せられん事を恐れたるなり。
43 For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.
彼らは神の譽よりも人の譽を愛でしなり。
44 And Jesus raised his voice, and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me only, but on Him that sent me:
イエス呼はりて言ひ給ふ『われを信ずる者は我を信ずるにあらず、我を遣し給ひし者を信じ、
45 and he that beholdeth me, beholdeth Him that sent me.
我を見る者は我を遣し給ひし者を見るなり。
46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me, might not abide in darkness.
我は光として世に來れり、すべて我を信ずる者の暗黒に居らざらん爲なり。
47 And if any one hear my words and believe not, I do not condemn him: for I am not now come to condemn the world, but to save the world.
人たとひ我が言をききて守らずとも、我は之を審かず。夫わが來りしは世を審かん爲にあらず、世を救はん爲なり。
48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word, that I have spoken, will condemn him at the last day.
我を棄て我が言を受けぬ者を審く者あり、わが語れる言こそ終の日に之を審くなれ。
49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father, who sent me, gave me a commandment, what I should say and what I should speak.
我はおのれに由りて語れるにあらず、我を遣し給ひし父みづから、我が言ふべきこと語るべきことを命じ給ひし故なり。
