Acts 24
1 And after five days, the high-priest Ananias came down with the elders, and one Tertulius an orator, who appeared before the governor against Paul.
Po pěti pak dnech sstoupil nejvyšší kněz Ananiáš s staršími a s nějakým Tertullem řečníkem. Kteříž postavili se před vládařem proti Pavlovi.
2 And when he was called, Tertullus began to accuse him, saying, "As by thee we enjoy much peace, and glorious things are done to this nation by thy prudent administration,
A když povolán byl, počal žalovati Tertullus, řka:
3 we acknowledge it upon all occasions and in all places, most noble Felix, with all thankfulness.
Kterak mnohý pokoj způsoben jest nám skrze tebe, a mnohé věci v tomto národu výborně se dějí skrze tvou opatrnost, to my i všelijak i všudy se vším děkováním vyznáváme, výborný Felix.
4 But that I may not trespass upon thee too far, I beg thou wouldst hear us a few words with thy wonted goodness.
Ale abych tě déle nezaměstknával, prosím, vyslyšiž nás maličko podlé obyčeje přívětivosti své.
5 For having found this man a pestilent fellow, and a mover of sedition among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ring-leader of the sect of the Nazarenes,
Nalezli jsme zajisté muže tohoto nešlechetného, a vzbuzujícího různice mezi všemi Židy po všem světě, a vůdci té sekty Nazaretské.
6 and attempting to profane the temple, we apprehended him, and would have judged him according to our law.
Kterýž také i o to se pokoušel, aby chrámu poškvrnil; a kteréhož javše, vedlé zákona svého chtěli jsme souditi.
7 But Lysias the tribune came upon us, and with great violence took him away out of our hands, commanding his accusers to come unto thee:
Ale přišed hejtman Lyziáš s mocí velikou, vzal ho z rukou našich,
8 from whom thou mayst thyself by examining him come to the knowledge of all these things of which we accuse him."
Rozkázav, aby žalobníci jeho šli k tobě. Od něhož ty sám budeš moci, vyptaje se, zvěděti o tom o všem, z čeho my jej viníme.
9 And the Jews also assented, saying, that these things were so.
A k tomu se přimluvili i Židé, pravíce, že to tak jest.
10 Then Paul, when the governor permitted him to speak, answered in this manner, "As I know that thou hast been many years a judge to this nation, I do the more chearfully answer for myself:
Tedy Pavel odpověděl, když mu návěští dal vládař, aby mluvil: Od mnohých let věda tebe býti soudcím národu tomuto představeným, s lepší myslí k tomu, což se mne dotýče, odpovídati budu,
11 because thou mayst know, that there are not more than twelve days since I went up to worship at Jerusalem:
Poněvadž ty můžeš to věděti, že není tomu dní více než dvanácte, jakž jsem přišel do Jeruzaléma, abych se modlil.
12 and they neither found me disputing with any one in the temple, or making sedition among the people, neither in the synagogues, nor in the city:
A aniž mne nalezli v chrámě s někým se hádajícího, aneb činícího roty v zástupu, ani v školách, ani v městě,
13 nor can they prove the things of which they now accuse me.
Aniž toho prokázati mohou, což na mne nyní žalují.
14 But this I confess unto thee, that after the way, which they call heresy, so do I worship the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law, and the prophets:
Ale totoť před tebou vyznávám, že podlé té cesty, kterouž nazývají kacířstvím, tak sloužím Bohu otců, věře všemu, cožkoli psáno jest v zákoně a v prorocích,
15 having hope in God, (which they themselves also expect) that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust.
Maje naději v Bohu, že bude, jehož i oni čekají, vzkříšení z mrtvých, i spravedlivých i nespravedlivých.
16 And on this account do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence both towards God and towards men.
Sám pak o to pracuji, abych měl svědomí bez úrazu před Bohem i před lidmi vždycky.
17 Now after several years I came to bring alms to my nation, and offerings.
Po mnohých pak letech přišel jsem, almužny nesa národu svému a oběti.
18 Upon which some Jews from Asia found me purified in the temple, neither with multitude nor with tumult:
Při čemž mne nalezli v chrámě očištěného, ne s zástupem, ani s bouřkou, někteří Židé z Azie,
19 who ought to have been here before thee, and make good their charge, if they had any thing against me.
Kteříž by měli tuto také před tebou státi a žalovati, měli-li by co proti mně.
20 Or let these themselves say, if they found any crime in me, when I stood before the sanhedrim;
Aneb nechať tito sami povědí, nalezli-li na mně jakou nepravost, když jsem stál v radě.
21 unless for this one expression, that I cried out when I stood among them, For the resurrection of the dead I am called in question by you this day."
Leč to jedno promluvení, že jsem zavolal, stoje mezi nimi: Pro vzkříšení z mrtvých já k soudu potažen jsem dnes od vás.
22 And when Felix heard these things he put them off, (for he had been more particularly informed concerning this way of religion, ) and said, When Lysias the tribune comes down, I will thoroughly examine your matters.
A vyslyšav to Felix, odložil jim, řka: Až bych o té cestě něco místnějšího vyzvěděl, když hejtman Lyziáš sem přijede, posoudím té pře vaší.
23 And he commanded the centurion to keep Paul secure, and to let him have some liberty, and to hinder none of his friends from assisting him or coming to him.
I poručil setníkovi, aby Pavla ostříhal, a polehčil mu, a nebránil žádnému z přátel jeho posluhovati jemu aneb navštěvovati ho.
24 Some days after Felix coming with his wife Drusilla, a Jewess, sent for Paul, and heard him concerning faith in Christ.
Po několika pak dnech přišed Felix s Druzillou, manželkou svou, kteráž byla Židovka, zavolal Pavla, a slyšel od něho o víře v Krista.
25 And as he was reasoning of justice, temperance, and a future judgement, Felix trembled, and said, Go thy way for this time, and I will take a proper opportunity to call for thee again.
A když on vypravoval o spravedlnosti a o zdrželivosti a o budoucím soudu, ulekl se Felix, a odpověděl: Nyní odejdi, a v čas příhodný povolám tě.
26 And hoping also that money would be given him by Paul, that he might discharge him; he sent for him the more frequently, and conversed with him.
Přitom pak nadál se, že jemu Pavel dá peníze, aby jej propustil, pročež i tím častěji, povolávaje ho, mluvíval s ním.
27 But after two years Felix received a successor, Porcius Festus; and being willing to gain favor with the Jews lest Paul confined.
Po dvou pak letech měl po sobě náměstka Felix Porcia Festa, a chtěje se zalíbiti Židům Felix, nechal Pavla v vězení.
