Deuteronomy 29

1 These are the words of the covenant which the LORD commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, in addition to the covenant which he made with them in Horeb.

১সদাপ্রভু হোরেবে ইস্রায়েলের লোকদের সঙ্গে যে নিয়ম স্থির করেছিলেন, তাছাড়া মোয়াব দেশে তাদের সঙ্গে যে নিয়ম স্থির করতে মোশিকে আজ্ঞা করলেন, এই সব সেই নিয়মের বাক্য।

2 Moses called to all Israel, and said to them: Your eyes have seen all that the LORD did in the land of Egypt to Pharaoh, and to all his servants, and to all his land;

২মোশি সমস্ত ইস্রায়েলকে ডাকলেন এবং তাদেরকে বললেন, সদাপ্রভু মিশর দেশে ফরৌণের, তাঁর সব দাসের ও সব দেশের প্রতি যে সব কাজ তোমাদের সামনে করেছিলেন, তা তোমরা দেখেছ;

3 the great trials which your eyes saw, the signs, and those great wonders.

৩পরীক্ষাসিদ্ধ সেই সব মহৎ প্রমাণ, সেই সব চিহ্ন ও সেই সব মহৎ অদ্ভুত লক্ষণ তোমরা নিজের চোখে দেখেছ;

4 But the LORD has not given you a heart to know, eyes to see, and ears to hear, to this day.

৪কিন্তু সদাপ্রভু আজ পর্যন্ত তোমাদেরকে জানার হৃদয়, দেখার চোখ ও শোনার কান দেননি।

5 I have led you forty years in the wilderness. Your clothes have not grown old on you, and your sandals have not grown old on your feet.

৫আমি চল্লিশ বছর মরুপ্রান্তে তোমাদেরকে চালিয়েছি; তোমাদের গায়ে তোমাদের পোষাক পুরানো হয়নি ও তোমার পায়ে তোমার জুতা পুরাতন হয়নি;

6 You have not eaten bread, neither have you drunk wine or strong drink, that you may know that I am the LORD your God.

৬তোমরা রুটি খাওনি এবং আঙ্গুর রস কি সুরা পান করনি; যেন তোমরা জানতে পার যে, আমিই তোমাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু।

7 When you came to this place, Sihon the king of Heshbon and Og the king of Bashan came out against us to battle, and we struck them.

৭আর তোমরা যখন এই জায়গায় উপস্থিত হলে, তখন হিষ্‌বোনের রাজা সীহোন ও বাশনের রাজা ওগ আমাদের সঙ্গে যুদ্ধ করতে বের হলে আমরা তাদেরকে আঘাত করলাম;

8 We took their land, and gave it for an inheritance to the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to the half-tribe of the Manassites.

৮আর তাদের দেশ নিয়ে অধিকারের জন্যে রূবেণীয় ও গাদীয়দেরকে এবং মনঃশীয়দের অর্ধেক বংশকে দিলাম।

9 Therefore keep the words of this covenant and do them, that you may prosper in all that you do.

৯অতএব তোমরা যা যা করবে, সমস্ত বিষয়ে যেন উন্নতিলাভ করতে পার, এই জন্য এই নিয়মের কথা সব পালন কোরো এবং সেই অনুসারে কাজ কোরো।

10 All of you stand today in the presence of the LORD your God: your heads, your tribes, your elders, and your officers, even all the men of Israel,

১০তোমরা সবাই আজ তোমাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর সামনে দাঁড়িয়ে আছ, তোমাদের অধ্যক্ষরা, তোমাদের বংশ সব, তোমাদের প্রাচীনরা, তোমাদের শাসকরা, এমন কি, ইস্রায়েলের সব পুরুষ,

11 your little ones, your wives, and the foreigners who are in the middle of your camps, from the one who cuts your wood to the one who draws your water,

১১তোমাদের বালক বালিকারা, তোমাদের স্ত্রীরা এবং তোমার শিবিরের মধ্যে তোমার কাঠ কাটার লোক থেকে জলবাহক পর্যন্ত এবং বিদেশী, সবাই আছ;

12 that you may enter into the covenant of the LORD your God, and into his oath, which the LORD your God makes with you today,

১২যেন তুমি তোমার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর সেই নিয়মে ও সেই শপথে আবদ্ধ হও, যা তোমার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু আজ তোমার সঙ্গে করছেন;

13 that he may establish you today as his people, and that he may be your God, as he spoke to you and as he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

১৩এই জন্য করছেন, যেন তিনি আজ তোমাকে নিজের লোক হিসাবে স্থাপন করেন ও তোমার ঈশ্বর হন, যেমন তিনি তোমাকে বলেছেন, আর যেমন তিনি তোমার পূর্বপুরুষ অব্রাহাম, ইস্‌হাক ও যাকোবের কাছে শপথ করেছেন।

14 Neither do I make this covenant and this oath with you only,

১৪এবং আমি এই নিয়ম ও এই শপথ শুধু তোমাদেরই সঙ্গে করছি, তা না;

15 but with those who stand here with us today before the LORD our God, and also with those who are not here with us today

১৫বরং আমাদের সঙ্গে আজ এই জায়গায় আমাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর সামনে যে কেউ দাঁড়িয়ে আছে ও আমাদের সঙ্গে আজ যে নেই, সেই সবের সঙ্গে করছি।

16 (for you know how we lived in the land of Egypt, and how we came through the middle of the nations through which you passed;

১৬কারণ আমরা মিশর দেশে যেভাবে বাস করেছি এবং জাতিদের মধ্যে দিয়ে যেভাবে এসেছি, তা তোমরা জানো

17 and you have seen their abominations and their idols of wood, stone, silver, and gold, which were amongst them);

১৭এবং তাদের ঘৃণার্হ জিনিস সব, তাদের মধ্যে কাঠের, পাথরের, রূপার ও সোনার মূর্ত্তি সব দেখেছ।

18 lest there should be amongst you man, woman, family, or tribe whose heart turns away today from the LORD our God, to go to serve the gods of those nations; lest there should be amongst you a root that produces bitter poison;

১৮এই জাতিদের দেবতাদের সেবা করতে যাবার জন্য আজ আমাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু থেকে যার হৃদয় অন্য পথে ফিরে যায়, এমন কোনো পুরুষ কিংবা স্ত্রী কিংবা গোষ্ঠী কিংবা বংশ তোমাদের মধ্যে যেন না থাকে, বিষগাছের কি নাগদানার মূল তোমাদের মধ্যে যেন না থাকে

19 and it happen, when he hears the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying, “I shall have peace, though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart,” to destroy the moist with the dry.

১৯এবং এই শাপের কথা শোনার দিনের কেউ যেন মনে মনে নিজের ধন্যবাদ করত না বলে, আমি ভিজের সঙ্গে শুকনোর ধ্বংস করার জন্য নিজের হৃদয়ের একগুঁয়েমিতায় চললেও আমার শান্তি হবে।

20 The LORD will not pardon him, but then the LORD’s anger and his jealousy will smoke against that man, and all the curse that is written in this book will fall on him, and the LORD will blot out his name from under the sky.

২০সদাপ্রভু তাকে ক্ষমা করতে রাজি হবেন না, কিন্তু সেই মানুষের ওপরে তখন সদাপ্রভুর রাগ ও তাঁর কোপ ধূমায়িত হবে এবং এই বইয়ে লেখা সমস্ত শাপ তার ওপরে শুয়ে থাকবে এবং সদাপ্রভু আকাশমণ্ডলের নীচে থেকে তার নাম মুছে দেবেন।

21 The LORD will set him apart for evil out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant written in this scroll of the Torah.

২১আর এই নিয়মের বইয়ে লেখা নিয়মের সব শাপ অনুসারে সদাপ্রভু তাকে ইস্রায়েলের সব বংশ থেকে বিপর্যয়ের জন্য বিতাড়িত করবেন।

22 The generation to come—your children who will rise up after you, and the foreigner who will come from a far land—will say, when they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses with which the LORD has made it sick,

২২আর সদাপ্রভু সেই দেশের উপরে যে সব আঘাত ও রোগ আনবেন, তা যখন আগামী বংশ, তোমাদের পরে উৎপন্ন তোমাদের সন্তানরা এবং বিদেশ থেকে আসা বিদেশী দেখবে

23 that all of its land is sulphur, salt, and burning, that it is not sown, doesn’t produce, nor does any grass grow in it, like the overthrow of Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim, which the LORD overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath.

২৩এবং সদাপ্রভু নিজের রাগে ও ক্রোধে যে সদোম, ঘমোরা, অদমা ও সবোয়িম শহর উৎপন্ন করেছিলেন, তার মত এই দেশের সব ভূমি গন্ধক, জলন্ত লবণে পরিপূর্ণ হয়েছে, তাতে কিছুই বোনা যায় না ও তা ফল উৎপন্ন করে না ও তাতে কোনো তৃণ হয় না, এ সব যখন দেখবে; তখন তারা বলবে,

24 Even all the nations will say, “Why has the LORD done this to this land? What does the heat of this great anger mean?”

২৪এমন কি, সব জাতি বলবে, সদাপ্রভু এ দেশের প্রতি কেন এমন করলেন? এমন মহাক্রোধ প্রজ্বলিত হবার কারণ কি?

25 Then men will say, “Because they abandoned the covenant of the LORD, the God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them out of the land of Egypt,

২৫তখন লোকে বলবে, কারণ এই, তাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু মিশর দেশ থেকে সেই পূর্বপুরুষদেরকে বের করে আনার দিনের তাদের সঙ্গে যে নিয়ম স্থির করেন, সেই নিয়ম তারা ত্যাগ করেছিল

26 and went and served other gods and worshipped them, gods that they didn’t know and that he had not given to them.

২৬আর গিয়ে অন্য দেবতাদের সেবা করেছিল, যে দেবতাদেরকে তারা জানত না, যাদেরকে তিনি তাদের জন্য নির্ধারণ করেননি, সেই দেবতাদের কাছে নত করেছিল;

27 Therefore the LORD’s anger burnt against this land, to bring on it all the curses that are written in this book.

২৭তাই এই বইয়ে লেখা সমস্ত শাপ দেশের উপর আনতে এই দেশের বিরুদ্ধে সদাপ্রভুর রাগ প্রজ্বলিত হল

28 The LORD rooted them out of their land in anger, in wrath, and in great indignation, and thrust them into another land, as it is today.”

২৮এবং সদাপ্রভু রাগে, ক্রোধে ও মহাকোপে তাদেরকে তাদের দেশ থেকে অন্য দেশে নিক্ষেপ করেছেন, যেমন আজ দেখা যাচ্ছে।

29 The secret things belong to the LORD our God; but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.

২৯গোপন বিষয় সব আমাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর অধিকার; কিন্তু প্রকাশিত বিষয় সব আমাদের ও চিরকাল আমাদের বংশধরদের অধিকার, যেন এই নিয়মের সব কথা আমরা পালন করতে পারি।
