Romans 8
1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who don’t walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
Il n'y a donc maintenant aucune condamnation pour ceux qui sont en Jésus-Christ, qui ne marchent pas selon la chair, mais selon l'Esprit.
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus made me free from the law of sin and of death.
Car la loi de l'Esprit de vie dans le Christ Jésus m'a affranchi de la loi du péché et de la mort.
3 For what the law couldn’t do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God did, sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh,
Car ce que la loi ne pouvait pas faire, puisqu'elle était faible par la chair, Dieu l'a fait, en envoyant son propre Fils à la ressemblance d'une chair pécheresse et pour le péché, il a condamné le péché dans la chair,
4 that the ordinance of the law might be fulfilled in us who don’t walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
afin que l'ordonnance de la loi soit accomplie en nous qui ne marchons pas selon la chair, mais selon l'Esprit.
5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.
Car ceux qui vivent selon la chair s'attachent aux choses de la chair, mais ceux qui vivent selon l'Esprit s'attachent aux choses de l'Esprit.
6 For the mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace;
Car la pensée de la chair, c'est la mort, mais la pensée de l'Esprit, c'est la vie et la paix;
7 because the mind of the flesh is hostile toward God, for it is not subject to God’s law, neither indeed can it be.
car la pensée de la chair est hostile à Dieu, parce qu'elle n'est pas soumise à la loi de Dieu, et qu'elle ne le peut pas.
8 Those who are in the flesh can’t please God.
Ceux qui sont dans la chair ne peuvent plaire à Dieu.
9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if it is so that the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if any man doesn’t have the Spirit of Christ, he is not his.
Or vous n'êtes pas dans la chair, mais dans l'Esprit, si tant est que l'Esprit de Dieu habite en vous. Or, si quelqu'un n'a pas l'Esprit du Christ, il ne lui appartient pas.
10 If Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the spirit is alive because of righteousness.
Si Christ est en vous, le corps est mort à cause du péché, mais l'esprit est vivant à cause de la justice.
11 But if the Spirit of him who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised up Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.
Or, si l'Esprit de celui qui a ressuscité Jésus d'entre les morts habite en vous, celui qui a ressuscité Jésus-Christ d'entre les morts donnera aussi la vie à vos corps mortels par son Esprit qui habite en vous.
12 So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
Ainsi donc, frères, nous sommes débiteurs, non pas de la chair, pour vivre selon la chair.
13 For if you live after the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
Car si vous vivez selon la chair, vous devez mourir; mais si par l'Esprit vous faites mourir les actions du corps, vous vivrez.
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are children of God.
Car tous ceux qui sont conduits par l'Esprit de Dieu sont enfants de Dieu.
15 For you didn’t receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”
En effet, vous n'avez pas reçu un esprit d'asservissement à la crainte, mais vous avez reçu l'Esprit d'adoption, par lequel nous crions: « Abba! Père! »
16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God;
L'Esprit lui-même atteste par notre esprit que nous sommes enfants de Dieu;
17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with him, that we may also be glorified with him.
et si nous sommes enfants, nous sommes aussi héritiers, héritiers de Dieu et cohéritiers du Christ, si nous souffrons avec lui, afin d'être aussi glorifiés avec lui.
18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which will be revealed toward us.
Car je considère que les souffrances du temps présent ne sont pas dignes d'être comparées à la gloire qui sera révélée à notre égard.
19 For the creation waits with eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed.
Car la création attend avec impatience que les enfants de Dieu soient révélés.
20 For the creation was subjected to vanity, not of its own will, but because of him who subjected it, in hope
En effet, la création a été soumise à la vanité, non par sa propre volonté, mais à cause de celui qui l'a soumise, dans l'espérance
21 that the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of decay into the liberty of the glory of the children of God.
que la création elle-même aussi sera délivrée de l'esclavage de la corruption pour entrer dans la liberté de la gloire des enfants de Dieu.
22 For we know that the whole creation groans and travails in pain together until now.
Car nous savons que, jusqu'à présent, la création tout entière gémit et soupire dans la douleur.
23 Not only so, but ourselves also, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for adoption, the redemption of our body.
Non seulement cela, mais nous aussi, qui avons les prémices de l'Esprit, nous gémissons en nous-mêmes, attendant l'adoption, la rédemption de notre corps.
24 For we were saved in hope, but hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for that which he sees?
En effet, nous avons été sauvés dans l'espérance; mais l'espérance qui se voit n'est pas une espérance. Car qui espère ce qu'il voit?
25 But if we hope for that which we don’t see, we wait for it with patience.
Mais si nous espérons ce que nous ne voyons pas, nous l'attendons avec patience.
26 In the same way, the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we don’t know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can’t be uttered.
De même, l'Esprit vient en aide à nos faiblesses, car nous ne savons pas prier comme il faut. Mais l'Esprit lui-même intercède pour nous par des gémissements inexprimables.
27 He who searches the hearts knows what is on the Spirit’s mind, because he makes intercession for the saints according to God.
Celui qui sonde les cœurs sait ce que pense l'Esprit, car il intercède pour les saints selon Dieu.
28 We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose.
Nous savons que toutes choses concourent au bien de ceux qui aiment Dieu, de ceux qui sont appelés selon son dessein.
29 For whom he foreknew, he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.
Car ceux qu'il a connus d'avance, il les a aussi prédestinés à être conformes à l'image de son Fils, afin qu'il soit le premier-né entre plusieurs frères.
30 Whom he predestined, those he also called. Whom he called, those he also justified. Whom he justified, those he also glorified.
Ceux qu'il a prédestinés, il les a aussi appelés. Ceux qu'il a appelés, il les a aussi justifiés. Ceux qu'il a justifiés, il les a aussi glorifiés.
31 What then shall we say about these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
Que dirons-nous donc de ces choses? Si Dieu est pour nous, qui peut être contre nous?
32 He who didn’t spare his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how would he not also with him freely give us all things?
Lui qui n'a pas épargné son propre Fils, mais l'a livré pour nous tous, comment ne nous donnerait-il pas aussi avec lui librement toutes choses?
33 Who could bring a charge against God’s chosen ones? It is God who justifies.
Qui pourrait porter une accusation contre les élus de Dieu? C'est Dieu qui justifie.
34 Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, yes rather, who was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.
Qui est celui qui condamne? C'est le Christ qui est mort, ou plutôt qui est ressuscité des morts, qui est à la droite de Dieu, et qui intercède pour nous.
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Could oppression, or anguish, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
Qui nous séparera de l'amour du Christ? L'oppression, ou l'angoisse, ou la persécution, ou la famine, ou la nudité, ou le péril, ou l'épée?
36 Even as it is written, “For your sake we are killed all day long. We were accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”
Selon qu'il est écrit, « Pour votre bien, nous sommes tués toute la journée. Nous étions considérés comme des moutons pour l'abattage. »
37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
Non, dans toutes ces choses, nous sommes plus que vainqueurs par celui qui nous a aimés.
38 For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers,
Car je suis persuadé que ni la mort, ni la vie, ni les anges, ni les principautés, ni les choses présentes, ni les choses à venir, ni les puissances,
39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from God’s love which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
ni la hauteur, ni la profondeur, ni aucune autre créature ne pourra nous séparer de l'amour de Dieu qui est en Jésus-Christ notre Seigneur.
