Romans 2
1 Therefore you are without excuse, O man, whoever you are who judge. For in that which you judge another, you condemn yourself. For you who judge practice the same things.
Portanto, és inexcusável quando julgas, ó homem, quem quer que sejas, porque te condenas a ti mesmo naquilo em que julgas o outro; pois tu, que julgas, fazes as mesmas coisas.
2 We know that the judgment of God is according to truth against those who practice such things.
E bem sabemos que o juízo de Deus é segundo a verdade sobre os que tais coisas fazem.
3 Do you think this, O man who judges those who practice such things, and do the same, that you will escape the judgment of God?
E tu, ó homem, que julgas os que fazem tais coisas, cuidas que, fazendo-as tu, escaparás ao juízo de Deus?
4 Or do you despise the riches of his goodness, forbearance, and patience, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?
Ou desprezas tu as riquezas da sua benignidade, e paciência e longanimidade, ignorando que a benignidade de Deus te leva ao arrependimento?
5 But according to your hardness and unrepentant heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath, revelation, and of the righteous judgment of God,
Mas, segundo a tua dureza e teu coração impenitente, entesouras ira para o dia da ira e da manifestação do juízo de Deus;
6 who “will pay back to everyone according to their works:”
O qual recompensará cada um segundo as suas obras;
7 to those who by perseverance in well-doing seek for glory, honor, and incorruptibility, eternal life; (aiōnios g166)
A saber: a vida eterna aos que, com perseverança em fazer bem, procuram glória, e honra e incorrupção; (aiōnios g166)
8 but to those who are self-seeking and don’t obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, will be wrath, indignation,
Mas a indignação e a ira aos que são contenciosos, e desobedientes à verdade e obedientes à injustiça.
9 oppression, and anguish on every soul of man who does evil, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
Tribulação e angústia sobre toda a alma do homem que obra o mal; primeiramente do judeu e também do grego:
10 But glory, honor, and peace go to every man who does good, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
Glória, porém, e honra e paz a qualquer que obra o bem; primeiramente ao judeu e também ao grego;
11 For there is no partiality with God.
Porque, para com Deus, não há acepção de pessoas.
12 For as many as have sinned without the law will also perish without the law. As many as have sinned under the law will be judged by the law.
Porque todos os que sem lei pecaram sem lei também perecerão; e todos os que sob a lei pecaram pela lei serão julgados.
13 For it isn’t the hearers of the law who are righteous before God, but the doers of the law will be justified
Porque os que ouvem a lei não são justos diante de Deus: mas os que praticam a lei hão de ser justificados.
14 (for when Gentiles who don’t have the law do by nature the things of the law, these, not having the law, are a law to themselves,
Porque, quando os gentios, que não tem lei, fazem naturalmente as coisas que são da lei, não tendo estes lei, para si mesmos são lei
15 in that they show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience testifying with them, and their thoughts among themselves accusing or else excusing them)
Os quais mostram a obra da lei escrita em seus corações, testificando juntamente a sua consciência, e seus pensamentos, ora acusando-se, ora defendendo-se;
16 in the day when God will judge the secrets of men, according to my Good News, by Jesus Christ.
No dia em que Deus há de julgar os segredos dos homens, por Jesus Cristo, segundo o meu evangelho.
17 Indeed you bear the name of a Jew, rest on the law, glory in God,
Eis que tu que tens por sobrenome judeu, e repousas na lei, e te glórias em Deus;
18 know his will, and approve the things that are excellent, being instructed out of the law,
E sabes a sua vontade e aprovas as coisas excelentes, sendo instruído por lei;
19 and are confident that you yourself are a guide of the blind, a light to those who are in darkness,
E confias que és guia dos cegos, luz dos que estão em trevas,
20 a corrector of the foolish, a teacher of babies, having in the law the form of knowledge and of the truth.
Instruidor dos néscios, mestre de crianças, que tens a forma da ciência e da verdade na lei;
21 You therefore who teach another, don’t you teach yourself? You who preach that a man shouldn’t steal, do you steal?
Tu, pois, que ensinas a outro, não te ensinas a ti mesmo? Tu, que pregas que não se deve furtar, furtas?
22 You who say a man shouldn’t commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples?
Tu, que dizes que não se deve adulterar, adulteras? Tu, que abominas os ídolos, cometes sacrilégio?
23 You who glory in the law, do you dishonor God by disobeying the law?
Tu, que te glórias na lei, desonras a Deus pela transgressão da lei?
24 For “the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you,” just as it is written.
Porque, como está escrito, o nome de Deus é blasfemado entre os gentios por causa de vós.
25 For circumcision indeed profits, if you are a doer of the law, but if you are a transgressor of the law, your circumcision has become uncircumcision.
Porque a circuncisão é, na verdade, proveitosa, se tu guardares a lei; porém, se tu és transgressor da lei, a tua circuncisão se torna em incircuncisão.
26 If therefore the uncircumcised keep the ordinances of the law, won’t his uncircumcision be accounted as circumcision?
Pois, se a incircuncisão guarda os preceitos da lei, porventura a sua incircuncisão não será reputada como circuncisão?
27 Won’t those who are physically uncircumcised, but fulfill the law, judge you, who with the letter and circumcision are a transgressor of the law?
E, a que por natureza é incircuncisão, se cumpre a lei, não te julgará porventura a ti, que pela letra e circuncisão és transgressor da lei?
28 For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, neither is that circumcision which is outward in the flesh;
Porque não é judeu o que o é exteriormente, nem é circuncisão a que o é exteriormente na carne
29 but he is a Jew who is one inwardly, and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not from men, but from God.
Mas é judeu o que o é no interior, e circuncisão é a do coração, no espírito, não na letra: cujo louvor não provém dos homens, mas de Deus.
