< Romans 13 >

1 Let every soul be in subjection to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God.
Hinghaih tawnh kami boih mah akaa tawn ukkung ih lok to tahngai o nasoe. Sithaw mah paek ai ah loe sakthaihaih om ai: sakthaihaih akaa tawn kaminawk loe Sithaw mah paek ih ni.
2 Therefore he who resists the authority withstands the ordinance of God; and those who withstand will receive to themselves judgment.
To pongah mi kawbaktih doeh sakthaihaih tawn kaminawk ih lokaek kami loe, Sithaw khokhanhaih aek kami ah oh, lokaek kaminawk loe lokcaekhaih hnu o tih.
3 For rulers are not a terror to the good work, but to the evil. Do you desire to have no fear of the authority? Do that which is good, and you will have praise from the authority,
Kahoih hmuen sah kami mah loe ukkungnawk to zit han om ai, toe kasae hmuen sah kaminawk hanah loe zit thoh. Ukkungnawk zii ai ah oh han na koeh o maw? Kahoih hmuen to sah ah, to tih nahaeloe nihcae pakoehhaih to na hnu tih.
4 for he is a servant of God to you for good. But if you do that which is evil, be afraid, for he doesn’t bear the sword in vain; for he is a servant of God, an avenger for wrath to him who does evil.
Kahoih hmuen sak hanah, anih loe nangcae khaeah Sithaw toksah kami ah oh. Toe kahoih ai hmuen na sak nahaeloe, zii ah; anih loe sumsen to azom ah angnaengh ai: anih loe kahoih ai hmuen sah kami nuiah palungphui hoiah lokcaek, lu lakung Sithaw toksah kami ah oh.
5 Therefore you need to be in subjection, not only because of the wrath, but also for conscience’ sake.
To pongah palungphuihaih zit khue ai ah, kasae kahoih panoekhaih hoiah doeh ukkung tlim ah na kun han oh.
6 For this reason you also pay taxes, for they are servants of God’s service, continually doing this very thing.
Hae tiah oh pongah tamut doeh na paek o han oh: nihcae loe Sithaw toksah kami ah oh o baktih toengah, boeng ai ah tok to a sak o poe.
7 Therefore give everyone what you owe: if you owe taxes, pay taxes; if customs, then customs; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.
To pongah kami boih mah paek han koi kaom hmuen to paek oh: tamut paek han koi kami khaeah tamut to paek oh; hmuen tho paek han koi kami khaeah atho to paek oh; zit han koi kami to zii oh; pakoeh koi kami to pakoeh oh.
8 Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law.
Maeto hoi maeto amlung oh, laiba tawn o hmah: minawk kalah palung kami loe kaalok to koepsak boeh.
9 For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,” and whatever other commandments there are, are all summed up in this saying, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
Kaalok pongah, Na zu sava laep ah zaehaih sah hmah, Kami hum hmah, Paqu hmah, Amsawn hnukung ah om hmah, Ut hmah, tiah oh; kalah kaalok to om vop nahaeloe, to kaaloknawk loe, Na imtaeng kami to na takpum baktih toengah palung ah, tiah thuih ih hae kaalok thungah akun boih boeh.
10 Love doesn’t harm a neighbor. Love therefore is the fulfillment of the law.
Amlunghaih mah imtaeng kami amrosak ai: to pongah amlunghaih loe kaalok akoephaih ah oh.
11 Do this, knowing the time, that it is already time for you to awaken out of sleep, for salvation is now nearer to us than when we first believed.
Aicae pahlonghaih loe, aicae mah tanghaih a tawnh o tangsuek nathuem ih pongah doeh, vaihiah anghnaih kue: vaihi loe iih angthawkhaih atue boeh ni, atue to panoek oh.
12 The night is far gone, and the day is near. Let’s therefore throw off the deeds of darkness, and let’s put on the armor of light.
Aqum boeng tom boeh moe, khodai tom boeh: to pongah khoving toksakhaih to va o si loe, aanghaih maiphaw maica to angkhuk o si boeh.
13 Let’s walk properly, as in the day; not in reveling and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and lustful acts, and not in strife and jealousy.
Poih sakhaih, mu paquihaih, taksa koehhaih, zae sak koehhaih, angaekhaih, uthaihnawk to ayae moe, khodai thungah a oh o baktih toengah, toenghaih hoiah caeh o si.
14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, for its lusts.
Angraeng Jesu Kri to angkhuk oh, taksa koehhaih akoepsak hanah, taksa khaeah angpaek o hmah.
