Revelation 6
1 I saw that the Lamb opened one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures saying, as with a voice of thunder, “Come and see!”
Je regardai, quand l'Agneau ouvrit le premier des sept sceaux, et j'entendis l'un des quatre animaux qui disait d'une voix de tonnerre: Viens!
2 Then a white horse appeared, and he who sat on it had a bow. A crown was given to him, and he came out conquering, and to conquer.
Je regardai, et je vis un cheval blanc. Celui qui le montait avait un arc; on lui donna une couronne, et il partit en vainqueur, pour remporter la victoire.
3 When he opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, “Come!”
Quand l'Agneau ouvrit le deuxième sceau, j'entendis le deuxième animal qui disait: Viens!
4 Another came out, a red horse. To him who sat on it was given power to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another. There was given to him a great sword.
Alors il parut un autre cheval, qui était roux. Celui qui le montait reçut le pouvoir d'ôter de la terre la paix, afin que les hommes fussent entraînés à s'égorger les uns les autres; on lui donna une grande épée.
5 When he opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature saying, “Come and see!” And behold, a black horse, and he who sat on it had a balance in his hand.
Quand l'Agneau ouvrit le troisième sceau, j'entendis le troisième animal qui disait: Viens! Je regardai, et je vis un cheval noir. Celui qui le montait avait une balance à la main.
6 I heard a voice in the middle of the four living creatures saying, “A choenix of wheat for a denarius, and three choenix of barley for a denarius! Don’t damage the oil and the wine!”
Puis j'entendis, au milieu des quatre animaux, comme une voix qui disait: Une mesure de froment pour un denier! Trois mesures d'orge pour un denier! Et ne touche ni à l'huile, ni au vin.
7 When he opened the fourth seal, I heard the fourth living creature saying, “Come and see!”
Quand l'Agneau ouvrit le quatrième sceau, j'entendis la voix du quatrième animal, qui disait: Viens!
8 And behold, a pale horse, and the name of he who sat on it was Death. Hades followed with him. Authority over one fourth of the earth, to kill with the sword, with famine, with death, and by the wild animals of the earth was given to him. (Hadēs g86)
Je regardai et je vis paraître un cheval jaunâtre. Celui qui le montait se nommait la Mort, et le Sépulcre le suivait. On leur donna pouvoir sur le quart de la terre, pour en faire périr les habitants par l'épée, par la famine, par la mortalité, et par les bêtes féroces de la terre. (Hadēs g86)
9 When he opened the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of those who had been killed for the Word of God, and for the testimony of the Lamb which they had.
Quand l'Agneau ouvrit le cinquième sceau, je vis sous l'autel les âmes de ceux qui avaient été immolés pour la parole de Dieu et pour le témoignage qu'ils avaient rendu.
10 They cried with a loud voice, saying, “How long, Master, the holy and true, until you judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?”
Ils crièrent d'une voix forte, et ils dirent: Jusques à quand, ô Maître saint et véritable, différeras-tu de juger, et de venger notre sang sur ceux qui habitent la terre?
11 A long white robe was given to each of them. They were told that they should rest yet for a while, until their fellow servants and their brothers, who would also be killed even as they were, should complete their course.
Alors on leur donna à chacun une robe blanche, et on leur dit de demeurer en repos encore un peu de temps, jusqu'à ce que fût au complet le nombre de leurs compagnons de service et de leurs frères, qui devaient être mis à mort comme eux.
12 I saw when he opened the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake. The sun became black as sackcloth made of hair, and the whole moon became as blood.
Je regardai, lorsque l'Agneau ouvrit le sixième sceau; et il se fit un grand tremblement de terre. Le soleil devint noir comme un sac de crin, et la lune tout entière devint comme du sang.
13 The stars of the sky fell to the earth, like a fig tree dropping its unripe figs when it is shaken by a great wind.
Les étoiles du ciel tombèrent sur la terre, comme les fruits verts que laisse tomber un figuier secoué par un grand vent.
14 The sky was removed like a scroll when it is rolled up. Every mountain and island was moved out of its place.
Le ciel se retira comme un livre qu'on roule; toutes les montagnes et toutes les îles furent jetées hors de leurs places.
15 The kings of the earth, the princes, the commanding officers, the rich, the strong, and every slave and free person, hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains.
Les rois de la terre, les grands, les capitaines, les riches, les puissants, tous les esclaves et tous les hommes libres, se cachèrent dans les cavernes et dans les rochers des montagnes;
16 They told the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb,
et ils dirent aux montagnes et aux rochers: Tombez sur nous; dérobez-nous à la vue de Celui qui est assis sûr le trône, et à la colère de l'Agneau!
17 for the great day of his wrath has come, and who is able to stand?”
Car il est venu, le grand jour de sa colère! Et qui pourrait subsister?
