Revelation 6
1 I saw that the Lamb opened one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures saying, as with a voice of thunder, “Come and see!”
Quand l'agneau eut brisé l'un des sept sceaux, j'entendis l'un des quatre animaux, qui disait comme d'une voix de tonnerre: «Viens.»
2 Then a white horse appeared, and he who sat on it had a bow. A crown was given to him, and he came out conquering, and to conquer.
Et je vis paraître un cheval blanc. Celui qui le montait avait un arc, on lui donna une couronne, et il partit en vainqueur pour aller remporter la victoire.
3 When he opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, “Come!”
Quand l'agneau eut brisé le deuxième sceau, j'entendis le second animal qui disait: «Viens, »
4 Another came out, a red horse. To him who sat on it was given power to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another. There was given to him a great sword.
Et il sortit un autre cheval, qui était rouge. Celui qui le montait, reçut le pouvoir d'ôter la paix de dessus la terre, afin que ses habitants s’entr’égorgeassent; et on lui donna une grande épée.
5 When he opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature saying, “Come and see!” And behold, a black horse, and he who sat on it had a balance in his hand.
Quand l'agneau eut brisé le troisième sceau, j'entendis le troisième animal qui disait: «Viens.» Et je vis paraître un cheval noir. Celui qui le montait tenait une balance à la main;
6 I heard a voice in the middle of the four living creatures saying, “A choenix of wheat for a denarius, and three choenix of barley for a denarius! Don’t damage the oil and the wine!”
et j'entendis au milieu des quatre animaux, comme une voix qui disait: «A un denier le chénice de froment! A un denier les trois chénices d'orge!» — et: «Ne gâte pas l'huile, ni le vin.»
7 When he opened the fourth seal, I heard the fourth living creature saying, “Come and see!”
Quand l'agneau eut brisé le quatrième sceau, j'entendis la voix du quatrième animal qui disait: «Viens.»
8 And behold, a pale horse, and the name of he who sat on it was Death. Hades followed with him. Authority over one fourth of the earth, to kill with the sword, with famine, with death, and by the wild animals of the earth was given to him. (Hadēs g86)
Et je vis paraître un cheval de couleur pâle. Celui qui le montait se nommait la Mort, l'Hadès le suivait. On leur donna le pouvoir sur le quart de la terre, pour en faire périr les habitants par l’épée, par la famine, par la mortalité et par les bêtes féroces. (Hadēs g86)
9 When he opened the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of those who had been killed for the Word of God, and for the testimony of the Lamb which they had.
Quand l'agneau eut brisé le cinquième sceau, je vis sous l'autel les âmes de ceux qui avaient été immolés pour avoir gardé la parole de Dieu et le témoignage de Jésus.
10 They cried with a loud voice, saying, “How long, Master, the holy and true, until you judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?”
Et elles crièrent d'une voix forte: «Maître, toi qui es saint et véritable, jusques à quand différeras-tu de faire justice et de demander compte de notre sang à ceux qui habitent sur la terre?»
11 A long white robe was given to each of them. They were told that they should rest yet for a while, until their fellow servants and their brothers, who would also be killed even as they were, should complete their course.
Alors on leur donna à chacun une robe blanche, et on leur dit de demeurer en repos encore un peu de temps, jusqu’à ce que fût complet le nombre de leurs compagnons de service et de leurs frères, qui devaient être mis à mort comme eux.
12 I saw when he opened the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake. The sun became black as sackcloth made of hair, and the whole moon became as blood.
Quand l'agneau eut brisé le sixième sceau, je regardai, et il se fit un grand tremblement de terre: le soleil devint noir comme un sac de crin, la lune tout entière parut comme du sang,
13 The stars of the sky fell to the earth, like a fig tree dropping its unripe figs when it is shaken by a great wind.
et les étoiles du ciel tombèrent sur la terre, comme les figues vertes tombent d'un figuier secoué par un gros vent.
14 The sky was removed like a scroll when it is rolled up. Every mountain and island was moved out of its place.
Le ciel se retira comme un parchemin qu'on enroule, et toutes les montagnes et les îles furent remuées de leur place.
15 The kings of the earth, the princes, the commanding officers, the rich, the strong, and every slave and free person, hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains.
Et les rois de la terre, les grands, les généraux, les riches, les hommes forts, tout esclave et tout homme libre se cachèrent dans les cavernes et dans les rochers des montagnes,
16 They told the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb,
et ils disaient aux montagnes et aux rochers: «Tombez sur nous et dérobez-nous à la vue de celui qui est assis sur le trône, et à la colère de l'agneau;
17 for the great day of his wrath has come, and who is able to stand?”
car il est venu, le grand jour de sa colère, et qui peut subsister?»
