Psalms 135

1 Praise Yah! Praise Yahweh’s name! Praise him, you servants of Yahweh,

Halleluja! Preiset den Namen des HERRN, preist ihn, ihr Diener des HERRN,

2 you who stand in Yahweh’s house, in the courts of our God’s house.

die ihr stehet im Hause des HERRN, in den Höfen am Haus unsers Gottes!

3 Praise Yah, for Yahweh is good. Sing praises to his name, for that is pleasant.

Preiset den HERRN, denn gütig ist der HERR; lobsingt seinem Namen, denn lieblich ist er!

4 For Yah has chosen Jacob for himself, Israel for his own possession.

Denn Jakob hat der HERR sich erwählt und Israel sich zum Eigentum erkoren.

5 For I know that Yahweh is great, that our Lord is above all gods.

Ja, ich weiß es: groß ist der HERR, und unser Gott steht über allen Göttern;

6 Whatever Yahweh pleased, that he has done, in heaven and in earth, in the seas and in all deeps.

alles, was dem HERRN gefällt, das führt er aus im Himmel und auf Erden, in den Meeren und allen Tiefen.

7 He causes the clouds to rise from the ends of the earth. He makes lightnings with the rain. He brings the wind out of his treasuries.

Er ist’s, der Wolken heraufführt vom Ende der Erde, der Blitze bei Gewitterregen schafft, der den Wind aus seinen Speichern herausläßt.

8 He struck the firstborn of Egypt, both of man and animal.

Er war’s, der Ägyptens Erstgeburten schlug unter Menschen wie beim Vieh;

9 He sent signs and wonders into the middle of you, Egypt, on Pharaoh, and on all his servants.

der Zeichen und Wunder sandte in deine Mitte, Ägypten, gegen den Pharao und all seine Knechte.

10 He struck many nations, and killed mighty kings—

Er war’s, der viele Völker schlug und mächtige Könige tötete:

11 Sihon king of the Amorites, Og king of Bashan, and all the kingdoms of Canaan—

Sihon, den König der Amoriter, und Og, den König von Basan, und alle Königreiche Kanaans,

12 and gave their land for a heritage, a heritage to Israel, his people.

und ihr Land als Erbbesitz hingab, als Erbe seinem Volke Israel.

13 Your name, Yahweh, endures forever; your renown, Yahweh, throughout all generations.

O HERR, dein Name währt ewig, dein Gedächtnis, o HERR, von Geschlecht zu Geschlecht

14 For Yahweh will judge his people and have compassion on his servants.

denn der HERR schafft Recht seinem Volk und erbarmt sich über seine Knechte.

15 The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands.

Die Götzen der Heiden sind Silber und Gold, das Machwerk von Menschenhänden;

16 They have mouths, but they can’t speak. They have eyes, but they can’t see.

sie haben einen Mund und können nicht reden, haben Augen und sehen nicht;

17 They have ears, but they can’t hear, neither is there any breath in their mouths.

sie haben Ohren und können nicht hören, auch ist kein Odem in ihrem Munde.

18 Those who make them will be like them, yes, everyone who trusts in them.

Ihnen gleich sind ihre Verfertiger, jeder, der auf sie vertraut.

19 House of Israel, praise Yahweh! House of Aaron, praise Yahweh!

Ihr vom Hause Israel, preiset den HERRN! Ihr vom Hause Aaron, preiset den HERRN!

20 House of Levi, praise Yahweh! You who fear Yahweh, praise Yahweh!

Ihr vom Hause Levi, preiset den HERRN! Ihr, die ihr fürchtet den HERRN, preiset den HERRN!

21 Blessed be Yahweh from Zion, who dwells in Jerusalem. Praise Yah!

Gepriesen sei der HERR von Zion aus, er, der da wohnt in Jerusalem! Halleluja!
