1 A good name is more desirable than great riches, and loving favor is better than silver and gold.

2 The rich and the poor have this in common: Yahweh is the maker of them all.

3 A prudent man sees danger and hides himself; but the simple pass on, and suffer for it.
Miching chun alungthim in hahsatna hung lhung ding avephan, ama le ama akivengdoh jin ahi. Hinlah mi lungthim bei le ima kholtoh louva machalpi chun gimna ato tei ding ahi.
4 The result of humility and the fear of Yahweh is wealth, honor, and life.
Kineosah pum le Pathen gin jeh’a kipaman chu haosatna jouse, jabolna chule hinna ahi.
5 Thorns and snares are in the path of the wicked; whoever guards his soul stays far from them.
Phatlouna jenga chonpa lam lhahna chu ling le khaovin abom jin, koi hileh ling le khao lah’a kiveng thempa chu hoidoh tei ding ahi.
6 Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.
Chapang chu lamdih jenga khoukhah in, chutileh akhanlhit geija asuhmil lou ding aki lhonpi jing ding ahi.
7 The rich rule over the poor. The borrower is servant to the lender.
Mihao in mivaichate chunga vai ahom in, chule sum bapa jong abatsah napa soh’in apang e.
8 He who sows wickedness reaps trouble, and the rod of his fury will be destroyed.
Koi hileh thu adihlou’a tan chun hamsetna ato tei ding, amapa chu lunghang henlang mol-a pansa jongleh, apansahna mol chu atahsa chunga lechuh ding ahibouve.
9 He who has a generous eye will be blessed, for he shares his food with the poor.
Koi hileh midang mit-ha phatah’a vepa chu phatthei chang ding, ajeh chu aman aneh ding an chu vaichaho apejin ahi.
10 Drive out the mocker, and strife will go out; yes, quarrels and insults will stop.
Miphalou chon chavei ho chu no-mang un, chutileh kinahna jong beiyin tin, baotamna jouse jong thip hel ding ahi.
11 He who loves purity of heart and speaks gracefully is the king’s friend.

12 Yahweh’s eyes watch over knowledge, but he frustrates the words of the unfaithful.
Pakaiyin hetna kiti hi amit tenin ave-jing in, chule kitahna bei mi chu apeidoh jin ahi.
13 The sluggard says, “There is a lion outside! I will be killed in the streets!”
Mithasen aseijin, “hichea khun sakei bahkai aum in, potdoh leng kholai dunga ei-tha ding ahi” ati.
14 The mouth of an adulteress is a deep pit. He who is under Yahweh’s wrath will fall into it.
Jonlungpu numeinu kamsung hi, kokhuh thuh tah ahin, Pakai lung hansah chan chu hiche kokhuh sunga hi lhalut tei ding ahi.
15 Folly is bound up in the heart of a child; the rod of discipline drives it far from him.
Chapang lungthim sunga hi ngolna dimset ahin, hinlah achunga hilchahna aum teng, ngolna chu bei tei ding ahi.
16 Whoever oppresses the poor for his own increase and whoever gives to the rich, both come to poverty.
Hao ding deija mivaicha sugentheija chule ahaopa pehbe mi chu vaichat nan aphah ding ahi.
17 Turn your ear, and listen to the words of the wise. Apply your heart to my teaching.
Nana hong phan lang miching ho thumop ngaiphan, chule kahetna hi nalung sunga het tei ding gon lang kisanlut in;
18 For it is a pleasant thing if you keep them within you, if all of them are ready on your lips.
Ajeh chu hiche ho jouse hi nalung sunga nachin leh, nangma dinga lung nopna’a pang ding, chule aboncha nakam’a na phondoh thei teng, nalung lhai ding ahi.
19 I teach you today, even you, so that your trust may be in Yahweh.
Ajeh chu Pakaija nakison theina dinga, tunia hi keiman nangma jah-tah’a kaiseipeh nahi.
20 Haven’t I written to you thirty excellent things of counsel and knowledge,
Keiman nakom’a thumopna le hetthemna thucheng phatah tah kasutdoh peh nahi lou ham?
21 To teach you truth, reliable words, to give sound answers to the ones who sent you?
Hitiahi nangman thutah hochu nahet them’a, chutengleh nahinsol ho ang-a thu adih’a na donbut theina dinga kahil nahi.
22 Don’t exploit the poor because he is poor; and don’t crush the needy in court;
Najotho man’in mivaicha ho chom hih in, ama chu vaicha tahbeh ahi.
23 for Yahweh will plead their case, and plunder the life of those who plunder them.
Ajeh chu Pakai hi amaho vengtup a pang ahin, koi hileh amaho sumang achu Aman asuhmang ding ahi.
24 Don’t befriend a hot-tempered man. Don’t associate with one who harbors anger,

25 lest you learn his ways and ensnare your soul.

26 Don’t you be one of those who strike hands, of those who are collateral for debts.
Bat lahna’a batman a kitung doh ho bang in, batsah nan kimoh tun hih in.
27 If you don’t have means to pay, why should he take away your bed from under you?
Asahna ding ima naneitah lou jongleh, nalupna jalkhun geijin pedoh jeng tan.
28 Don’t move the ancient boundary stone which your fathers have set up.
Napu Napa khang apat gamgi melchihna song chu, nangman na chondoh lou ding ahi.
29 Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will serve kings. He won’t serve obscure men.
Lolhingtah’a natong khut them namudoh lou ham? Amachu lengpa ang-sunga bou ding ding, michavei masanga vang ding thei lou ding ahi.
