Proverbs 17
1 Better is a dry morsel with quietness, than a house full of feasting with strife.
ವಿವಾದದೊಂದಿಗೆ ತುಂಬಿದ ಔತಣದ ಮನೆಗಿಂತ, ಶಾಂತಿ ಸಮಾಧಾನದ ಒಣ ತುತ್ತು ಮೇಲು.
2 A servant who deals wisely will rule over a son who causes shame, and shall have a part in the inheritance among the brothers.
ನಾಚಿಕೆಪಡಿಸುವ ಮಗನ ಮೇಲೆ ಜಾಣನಾದ ಸೇವಕನು ಆಳುವವನಾಗಿ ಸಹೋದರರಲ್ಲಿ ಬಾಧ್ಯತೆಗೆ ಪಾಲುಗಾರನಾಗುವನು.
3 The refining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold, but Yahweh tests the hearts.
ಸೋಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಗೆ ಕುಲುಮೆ ಪುಟ, ಬಂಗಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಆವಿಗೆ; ಆದರೆ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಹೃದಯಗಳನ್ನು ಪರಿಶೋಧಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.
4 An evildoer heeds wicked lips. A liar gives ear to a mischievous tongue.
ಕೇಡು ಮಾಡುವವನು ಕೆಟ್ಟ ಮಾತುಗಳಿಗೆ ಕಿವಿಗೊಡುತ್ತಾನೆ; ಸುಳ್ಳುಗಾರನು ನೀಚವಾದ ನಾಲಿಗೆಗೆ ಕಿವಿಗೊಡುವನು.
5 Whoever mocks the poor reproaches his Maker. He who is glad at calamity shall not be unpunished.
ಬಡವರನ್ನು ಹಾಸ್ಯಮಾಡುವವನು, ತನ್ನನ್ನು ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಸಿದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರನ್ನು ನಿಂದಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ; ಬೇರೆಯವರ ವಿಪತ್ತುಗಳಿಗೆ ಸಂತೋಷಿಸುವವನು ಶಿಕ್ಷೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದುವನು.
6 Children’s children are the crown of old men; the glory of children is their parents.
ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ವೃದ್ಧರಿಗೆ ಕಿರೀಟ; ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಭೂಷಣವು ಅವರ ತಂದೆತಾಯಿಗಳೇ.
7 Excellent speech isn’t fitting for a fool, much less do lying lips fit a prince.
ಉತ್ತಮವಾದ ಪದಗಳು ಮೂರ್ಖನಿಗೆ ಸೂಕ್ತವಲ್ಲ; ಆಳುವವನಿಗೆ ಸುಳ್ಳಾಡುವ ತುಟಿಗಳು ಇನ್ನೂ ಎಷ್ಟೋ ಆಯುಕ್ತವಲ್ಲವೇ.
8 A bribe is a precious stone in the eyes of him who gives it; wherever he turns, he prospers.
ಕೊಡುವವನ ಕಣ್ಣಿಗೆ ಲಂಚವು ಆಕರ್ಷಣೆಯಾಗಿದೆ; ಪ್ರತಿ ತಿರುವಿನಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಯಶಸ್ಸು ಬರುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಭಾವಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.
9 He who covers an offense promotes love; but he who repeats a matter separates best friends.
ದೋಷವನ್ನು ಕ್ಷಮಿಸುವವನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಯನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕುತ್ತಾನೆ; ಆದರೆ ದೋಷವನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿ ಆಡುವವನು ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರಿಂದ ಪ್ರತ್ಯೇಕಗೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾನೆ.
10 A rebuke enters deeper into one who has understanding than a hundred lashes into a fool.
ಬುದ್ಧಿಹೀನನ ಬೆನ್ನಿಗೆ ನೂರು ಪೆಟ್ಟುಗಳಿಗಿಂತ ಜ್ಞಾನಿಗೆ ಒಂದು ಗದರಿಕೆಯ ಮಾತು ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ನಾಟುತ್ತದೆ.
11 An evil man seeks only rebellion; therefore a cruel messenger shall be sent against him.
ತಿರುಗಿ ಬೀಳುವವನು ಕೆಟ್ಟದ್ದಕ್ಕೇ ತವಕಪಡುತ್ತಾನೆ; ಆದಕಾರಣ ಮರಣ ದೂತರನ್ನು ಅವನ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಕಳುಹಿಸಲಾಗುವದು.
12 Let a bear robbed of her cubs meet a man, rather than a fool in his folly.
ತನ್ನ ಮೂಢತೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಬುದ್ಧಿಹೀನನನ್ನು ಸಂಧಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಮರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕಳೆದುಕೊಂಡ ಕರಡಿಯನ್ನು ಸಂಧಿಸುವುದು ಮೇಲು.
13 Whoever rewards evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house.
ಉಪಕಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಅಪಕಾರವನ್ನು ಮಾಡುವವನ ಮನೆಯಿಂದ ಕೇಡು ತೊಲಗುವುದೇ ಇಲ್ಲ.
14 The beginning of strife is like breaching a dam, therefore stop contention before quarreling breaks out.
ಕಲಹದ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವು ಆಣೆಕಟ್ಟು ಒಡೆದಂತೆ ಇರುವುದು; ಆದಕಾರಣ ಆ ಕಲಹಕ್ಕೆ ಕೈಹಾಕುವುದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಮುಂಚೆ ಅದನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟುಬಿಡು.
15 He who justifies the wicked, and he who condemns the righteous, both of them alike are an abomination to Yahweh.
ದುಷ್ಟರನ್ನು ನೀತಿವಂತರೆಂದು ನಿರ್ಣಯಿಸುವವನು, ನೀತಿವಂತರನ್ನು ಖಂಡಿಸುವವನೂ ಇವರಿಬ್ಬರೂ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಅಸಹ್ಯ.
16 Why is there money in the hand of a fool to buy wisdom, since he has no understanding?
ಜ್ಞಾನವನ್ನು ಸಂಪಾದಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಬುದ್ಧಿಹೀನನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹಣ ಏಕೆ? ಅವನಿಗೆ ಕಲಿಯಲು ಮನಸ್ಸಿಲ್ಲವಲ್ಲ.
17 A friend loves at all times; and a brother is born for adversity.
ಸ್ನೇಹಿತನು ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರೀತಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ; ಆಪತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಸಹಾಯಮಾಡುವಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಸಹೋದರನು ಹುಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
18 A man void of understanding strikes hands, and becomes collateral in the presence of his neighbor.
ಬುದ್ಧಿಹೀನನು ಕೈ ಕುಲುಕಿ ತನ್ನ ನೆರೆಯವನಿಗೆ ಜಾಮಿನನಾಗುತ್ತಾನೆ.
19 He who loves disobedience loves strife. One who builds a high gate seeks destruction.
ಕಲಹವನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಮಾಡುವವನು ಪಾಪವನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಮಾಡುತ್ತಾನೆ; ತನ್ನ ಗೋಡೆಯನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವವನು ನಾಶನವನ್ನು ಆಮಂತ್ರಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ.
20 One who has a perverse heart doesn’t find prosperity, and one who has a deceitful tongue falls into trouble.
ವಕ್ರಹೃದಯವುಳ್ಳವನು ಸಮೃದ್ಧಿಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದುವುದಿಲ್ಲ; ಮೋಸದ ನಾಲಿಗೆಯುಳ್ಳವನು ಹಾನಿಗೆ ಬೀಳುವನು.
21 He who becomes the father of a fool grieves. The father of a fool has no joy.
ಬುದ್ಧಿಹೀನ ಹೆತ್ತವನಿಗೆ ವ್ಯಥೆ; ಬುದ್ಧಿಹೀನನ ತಂದೆಗೆ ಸಂತೋಷವಿರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.
22 A cheerful heart makes good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.
ಹರ್ಷಹೃದಯವು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಔಷಧ; ಆದರೆ ಕುಗ್ಗಿದ ಮನಸ್ಸು ಎಲುಬುಗಳನ್ನು ಒಣಗಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
23 A wicked man receives a bribe in secret, to pervert the ways of justice.
ನ್ಯಾಯದ ಮಾರ್ಗಗಳನ್ನು ತಿರುಗಿಸಿಬಿಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ದುಷ್ಟನು ಗುಪ್ತವಾಗಿ ಲಂಚವನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾನೆ.
24 Wisdom is before the face of one who has understanding, but the eyes of a fool wander to the ends of the earth.
ವಿವೇಕಿಯು ಜ್ಞಾನವನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಮುಂದೆ ಇಟ್ಟುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಆದರೆ ಬುದ್ಧಿಹೀನ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳು ಭೂಮಿಯ ಅಂತ್ಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅಲೆಯುವವು.
25 A foolish son brings grief to his father, and bitterness to her who bore him.
ಬುದ್ಧಿಹೀನನಾದ ಮಗನು ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಗೆ ದುಃಖವೂ, ತನ್ನನ್ನು ಹೆತ್ತವಳಿಗೆ ಕಹಿಯೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
26 Also to punish the righteous is not good, nor to flog officials for their integrity.
ನೀತಿವಂತನಿಗೆ ದಂಡ ವಿಧಿಸುವುದು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದಲ್ಲದಿದ್ದರೆ, ಖಂಡಿತವಾಗಿಯೂ ಪ್ರಾಮಾಣಿಕ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆಯುವುದು ಸರಿಯಲ್ಲ.
27 He who spares his words has knowledge. He who is even tempered is a man of understanding.
ಪರಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಹೊಂದಿರುವವನು ಮಿತವಾಗಿ ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತಾನೆ; ತಿಳುವಳಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿರುವವನು ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠವಾದ ಆತ್ಮವುಳ್ಳವನಾಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
28 Even a fool, when he keeps silent, is counted wise. When he shuts his lips, he is thought to be discerning.
ಬುದ್ಧಿಹೀನನು ಮೌನವಾಗಿದ್ದರೆ ಜ್ಞಾನಿಯೆನಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವನು; ತನ್ನ ತುಟಿಗಳನ್ನು ಬಿಗಿ ಹಿಡಿಯುವವನು ವಿವೇಕಿ ಎನಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವನು.
