Philippians 3
1 Finally, my brothers, rejoice in the Lord! To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not tiresome, but for you it is safe.
Au reste, mes frères, réjouissez-vous dans le Seigneur. Pour moi, je ne crains point de vous redire toujours les mêmes choses, et pour vous, cela vous est bon:
2 Beware of the dogs; beware of the evil workers; beware of the false circumcision.
prenez garde aux chiens; prenez garde aux mauvais ouvriers; prenez garde à la fausse circoncision;
3 For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh;
car c'est nous qui sommes la vraie circoncision, nous qui servons Dieu avec l'esprit de Dieu, qui nous glorifions dans Jésus-Christ, et qui ne mettons pas notre confiance en la chair,
4 though I myself might have confidence even in the flesh. If any other man thinks that he has confidence in the flesh, I yet more:
quoique j'aie, quant à moi, tout sujet de mettre aussi ma confiance en la chair. Si quelqu'un croit pouvoir se confier en la chair, je le puis à plus juste titre,
5 circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; concerning the law, a Pharisee;
moi qui suis un circoncis du huitième jour, de la race d'Israël, de la tribu de Benjamin, hébreu fils d'hébreux; pour la Loi, pharisien;
6 concerning zeal, persecuting the assembly; concerning the righteousness which is in the law, found blameless.
pour le zèle, persécuteur de l'Église; pour la justice de la Loi, sans reproche.
7 However, I consider those things that were gain to me as a loss for Christ.
Mais ces qualités, qui étaient pour moi des gains, je les ai tenues pour un préjudice, à cause de Christ,
8 Yes most certainly, and I count all things to be a loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus, my Lord, for whom I suffered the loss of all things, and count them nothing but refuse, that I may gain Christ
et je les tiens certainement toutes pour un préjudice, à cause de l'excellence de la connaissance de Jésus-Christ, mon Seigneur. J'ai fait abandon de toutes ces choses pour lui; je les regarde toutes comme de la balayure, afin de gagner Christ,
9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own, that which is of the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith,
et d'être trouvé en lui, ayant, non ma propre justice, cette justice qui vient de la loi, mais celle qui s'obtient par la foi en Christ, la justice qui vient de Dieu par la foi,
10 that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, becoming conformed to his death,
en sorte que je le connaisse, lui, et la puissance de sa résurrection, et la communion de ses souffrances, en reproduisant sa mort en ma personne,
11 if by any means I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.
pour tâcher de parvenir à la bienheureuse résurrection des morts.
12 Not that I have already obtained, or am already made perfect; but I press on, that I may take hold of that for which also I was taken hold of by Christ Jesus.
Ce n'est pas que j'aie déjà saisi le prix, ou que je sois déjà arrivé à la perfection; mais je le poursuis, tachant de le saisir, parce que j'ai été saisi moi-même par Christ.
13 Brothers, I don’t regard myself as yet having taken hold, but one thing I do: forgetting the things which are behind and stretching forward to the things which are before,
Pour moi, mes frères, je n'estime pas de l'avoir saisi, mais voici ce que je fais: je laisse ce qui est derrière moi, et me portant vers ce qui est devant moi,
14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
je cours vers le but, pour remporter le prix auquel Dieu m'a appelé d'en haut, en Jésus-Christ.
15 Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, think this way. If in anything you think otherwise, God will also reveal that to you.
Que ce soit là notre sentiment, à nous tous qui sommes parfaits, et si, sur quelque point, vous pensez différemment, eh bien! Dieu vous éclairera;
16 Nevertheless, to the extent that we have already attained, let’s walk by the same rule. Let’s be of the same mind.
seulement, au point où nous sommes arrivés, marchons comme nous l'avons fait jusqu'ici.
17 Brothers, be imitators together of me, and note those who walk this way, even as you have us for an example.
Soyez mes imitateurs, mes frères, et ayez les yeux sur ceux qui se conduisent comme nous, vu que nous vous servons de modèle.
18 For many walk, of whom I told you often, and now tell you even weeping, as the enemies of the cross of Christ,
Il y en a plusieurs, que je vous ai souvent signalés, et qu'aujourd'hui encore je vous signale, les larmes aux yeux, comme les ennemis de la croix de Christ par la conduite qu'ils mènent.
19 whose end is destruction, whose god is the belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who think about earthly things.
La fin de ces gens-là, c'est la perdition; eux qui font leur Dieu de leur ventre, et mettent leur gloire dans ce qui fait leur honte, n'ayant de goût que pour les choses terrestres.
20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from where we also wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,
Pour nous, notre patrie est dans les cieux, d'où nous attendons aussi, comme Sauveur, le Seigneur Jésus-Christ,
21 who will change the body of our humiliation to be conformed to the body of his glory, according to the working by which he is able even to subject all things to himself.
qui transformera notre corps vil, en le rendant semblable à son corps glorieux, par le pouvoir qu'il a de s'assujettir toutes choses.
