Philippians 2
1 If therefore there is any exhortation in Christ, if any consolation of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any tender mercies and compassion,
Gilt noch eine Ermahnung in Christus, noch ein Einreden der Liebe, noch eine Gemeinschaft des Geistes, noch Herz und Barmherzigkeit,
2 make my joy full by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind;
so macht mir die Freude voll, daß ihr gleich gesinnt seied, in gleicher Liebe, Eine Seele, Ein Sinn,
3 doing nothing through rivalry or through conceit, but in humility, each counting others better than himself;
ferne überall von Parteigeist, ferne von Eitelkeit, vielmehr in Demut aneinander hinaufsehend,
4 each of you not just looking to his own things, but each of you also to the things of others.
kein Teil nur das Auge habend für sein Wesen, sondern auch für das des andern.
5 Have this in your mind, which was also in Christ Jesus,
Die Gesinnung sei bei euch wie bei Christus Jesus,
6 who, existing in the form of God, didn’t consider equality with God a thing to be grasped,
der da war in Gottesgestalt, aber das Gottgleichsein nicht wie einen Raub ansah,
7 but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men.
sondern sich selbst entäußerte, indem er Knechtsgestalt annahm, in Menschenbild auftrat,
8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself, becoming obedient to the point of death, yes, the death of the cross.
im Verhalten wie ein Mensch befunden, sich selbst erniedrigte, gehorsam bis zum Tode, ja bis zum Kreuzestod.
9 Therefore God also highly exalted him, and gave to him the name which is above every name,
Darum hat ihn auch Gott so hoch erhöht,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, those on earth, and those under the earth,
und ihm den Namen verliehen, der über allen Namen ist, auf daß sich in dem Namen Jesus' beugen alle Knie, derer die im Himmel, die auf der Erde, und die unter der Erde sind,
11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
und alle Zungen bekennen, daß Jesus Christus Herr sei zum Preis Gottes des Vaters.
12 So then, my beloved, even as you have always obeyed, not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
Also meine Geliebten: ihr waret ja allezeit gehorsam; so lasset es nicht bewenden bei dem, was unter meinen Augen geschah, sondern arbeitet jetzt noch viel mehr, in meiner Abwesenheit, mit Furcht und Zittern an eurer Rettung.
13 For it is God who works in you both to will and to work for his good pleasure.
Denn Gott ist es, der in euch wirksam macht das Wollen wie das Wirken, des Wohlgefallens wegen.
14 Do all things without complaining and arguing,
Alles thut ohne Murren und Bedenken,
15 that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without defect in the middle of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you are seen as lights in the world,
daß ihr werdet tadellos und lauter, Kinder Gottes ohne Fehl, mitten in einem verkehrten und verwirrten Geschlecht, unter denen ihr leuchtet wie Gestirne in der Welt,
16 holding up the word of life, that I may have something to boast in the day of Christ that I didn’t run in vain nor labor in vain.
damit daß ihr am Worte des Lebens haltet, mir zum Ruhm auf den Tag Christus', daß ich nicht vergeblich gelaufen sei, noch vergeblich gearbeitet habe.
17 Yes, and if I am poured out on the sacrifice and service of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all.
Und wenn ich auch mein Blut vergießen soll zu Opfer und Weihe eures Glaubens, so freue ich mich, freue mich mit euch insgesamt.
18 In the same way, you also should be glad and rejoice with me.
Ebenso aber sollt auch ihr euch freuen und mit mir freuen.
19 But I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you soon, that I also may be cheered up when I know how you are doing.
Ich hoffe aber im Herrn Jesus, den Timotheus bald zu euch schicken zu können, damit auch ich durch Nachrichten von euch erquickt werde.
20 For I have no one else like-minded, who will truly care about you.
Denn ich habe keinen Gleichgestimmten, der so ohne Falsch sich um eure Dinge bekümmerte.
21 For they all seek their own, not the things of Jesus Christ.
Sie denken alle an sich, nicht an Jesus Christus.
22 But you know that he has proved himself. As a child serves a father, so he served with me in furtherance of the Good News.
Seine erprobte Treue aber ist euch bekannt, hat er doch wie ein Kind seinem Vater mir gedient für das Evangelium.
23 Therefore I hope to send him at once, as soon as I see how it will go with me.
Ihn also hoffe ich euch zu senden, so bald ich nur in meinen eigenen Angelegenheiten hinaussehe.
24 But I trust in the Lord that I myself also will come shortly.
Ich traue aber auf den Herrn, daß ich auch selbst bald werde kommen können.
25 But I thought it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, fellow worker, fellow soldier, and your apostle and servant of my need,
Für dringend aber habe ich erachtet, den Bruder Epaphroditus meinen Mitarbeiter und Mitstreiter, euren Gesandten und Uebermittler meines Bedarfs, zu euch zu entlassen.
26 since he longed for you all, and was very troubled because you had heard that he was sick.
Denn er hatte Verlangen nach euch allen, und hatte keine Ruhe, weil ihr von seiner Krankheit gehört hattet.
27 For indeed he was sick nearly to death, but God had mercy on him, and not on him only, but on me also, that I might not have sorrow on sorrow.
In der That war er auf den Tod krank; aber Gott hat sich seiner erbarmt, und nicht blos seiner, sondern auch meiner, auf daß mich nicht Trübsal über Trübsal treffe.
28 I have sent him therefore the more diligently, that when you see him again, you may rejoice, and that I may be the less sorrowful.
So habe ich mich doppelt beeilt, ihn zu entlassen, damit ihr euch seines Wiedersehens freuet, und ich um eine Anfechtung leichter sei.
29 Receive him therefore in the Lord with all joy, and hold such people in honor,
So heißet ihn im Herrn hoch willkommen, und haltet solche Männer wert.
30 because for the work of Christ he came near to death, risking his life to supply that which was lacking in your service toward me.
Denn um des Werkes Christus' willen kam er dem Tode nahe, und hat sein Leben ausgesetzt bei diesem Dienst für mich, um mit seiner Person auch das noch hinzuzuthun, was ihr selbst nicht thun konntet.
