Philippians 2
1 If therefore there is any exhortation in Christ, if any consolation of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any tender mercies and compassion,
S'il y a donc quelque consolation en Christ, s'il y a quelque soulagement dans la charité, s'il y a quelque communion d'esprit, s'il y a quelque affection cordiale et quelque compassion,
2 make my joy full by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind;
rendez ma joie parfaite en vivant en bonne intelligence, en ayant un même amour, une même âme, une seule et même pensée.
3 doing nothing through rivalry or through conceit, but in humility, each counting others better than himself;
Ne faites rien par esprit de contestation, ni par vaine gloire; mais considérez les autres, par humilité, comme supérieurs à vous-mêmes.
4 each of you not just looking to his own things, but each of you also to the things of others.
Que chacun de vous, au lieu de ne regarder qu'à son propre intérêt, regarde aussi à celui des autres.
5 Have this in your mind, which was also in Christ Jesus,
Ayez les mêmes sentiments que Jésus-Christ a eus,
6 who, existing in the form of God, didn’t consider equality with God a thing to be grasped,
lui qui, étant en forme de Dieu, n'a pas voulu se prévaloir de son égalité avec Dieu,
7 but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men.
mais qui s'est anéanti lui-même, prenant la forme d'un serviteur et devenant semblable aux hommes.
8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself, becoming obedient to the point of death, yes, the death of the cross.
Ayant paru comme un simple homme, il s'est abaissé lui-même, se rendant obéissant jusqu'à la mort, même jusqu'à la mort de la croix.
9 Therefore God also highly exalted him, and gave to him the name which is above every name,
C'est pourquoi aussi, Dieu l'a souverainement élevé et lui a donné le nom qui est au-dessus de tout nom,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, those on earth, and those under the earth,
afin qu'au nom de Jésus, tout genou fléchisse dans les cieux, sur la terre et sous la terre,
11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
et que toute langue confesse que Jésus-Christ est le Seigneur, à la gloire de Dieu, le Père.
12 So then, my beloved, even as you have always obeyed, not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
Ainsi, mes bien-aimés, comme vous avez toujours obéi, travaillez à votre salut avec crainte et tremblement, non seulement comme vous le faisiez en ma présence, mais bien plus encore, maintenant que je suis absent.
13 For it is God who works in you both to will and to work for his good pleasure.
Car c'est Dieu qui opère en vous et la volonté et l'exécution, en vertu de son bon plaisir.
14 Do all things without complaining and arguing,
Faites toutes choses sans murmures et sans hésitations,
15 that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without defect in the middle of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you are seen as lights in the world,
afin que vous soyez sans reproche et sans tache, des enfants de Dieu irrépréhensibles au milieu d'une génération dépravée et perverse, au sein de laquelle vous brillez comme des flambeaux dans le monde,
16 holding up the word of life, that I may have something to boast in the day of Christ that I didn’t run in vain nor labor in vain.
portant la parole de vie; en sorte qu'au jour du Christ, je puisse me glorifier de n'avoir pas couru en vain, ni travaillé en vain.
17 Yes, and if I am poured out on the sacrifice and service of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all.
Et même, si mon sang doit servir d'aspersion sur le sacrifice et l'offrande de votre foi, j'en ai de la joie, et je m'en réjouis avec vous tous.
18 In the same way, you also should be glad and rejoice with me.
Vous aussi, ayez-en de la joie, et réjouissez-vous-en avec moi.
19 But I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you soon, that I also may be cheered up when I know how you are doing.
Or j'espère, par la grâce du Seigneur Jésus, vous envoyer bientôt Timothée, afin d'être encouragé, à mon tour, par les nouvelles que j'aurai de vous.
20 For I have no one else like-minded, who will truly care about you.
En effet, je n'ai personne qui partage comme lui mes sentiments, pour s'intéresser sincèrement à ce qui vous regarde:
21 For they all seek their own, not the things of Jesus Christ.
tous cherchent leur propre intérêt, et non celui de Jésus-Christ.
22 But you know that he has proved himself. As a child serves a father, so he served with me in furtherance of the Good News.
Mais vous connaissez sa fidélité éprouvée; vous savez qu'il s'est dévoué avec moi au service de l'Évangile, comme un enfant auprès de son père.
23 Therefore I hope to send him at once, as soon as I see how it will go with me.
J'espère donc vous l'envoyer, dès que je serai au clair sur ma situation;
24 But I trust in the Lord that I myself also will come shortly.
et j'ai cette confiance dans le Seigneur que je viendrai bientôt moi-même.
25 But I thought it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, fellow worker, fellow soldier, and your apostle and servant of my need,
En attendant, j'ai cru nécessaire de vous envoyer Épaphrodite, mon frère, le compagnon de mes travaux et de mes combats, que vous avez délégué auprès de moi pour subvenir à mes besoins.
26 since he longed for you all, and was very troubled because you had heard that he was sick.
Car il désirait ardemment vous voir tous, étant très tourmenté parce que vous aviez appris qu'il était malade.
27 For indeed he was sick nearly to death, but God had mercy on him, and not on him only, but on me also, that I might not have sorrow on sorrow.
En effet, il a été malade, et tout près de la mort; mais Dieu a eu pitié de lui, et non seulement de lui, mais aussi de moi, pour que je n'eusse pas tristesse sur tristesse.
28 I have sent him therefore the more diligently, that when you see him again, you may rejoice, and that I may be the less sorrowful.
Je l'ai donc envoyé avec d'autant plus d'empressement, afin qu'en le revoyant vous ayez de la joie, et que j'aie moins de tristesse.
29 Receive him therefore in the Lord with all joy, and hold such people in honor,
Ainsi, recevez-le dans le Seigneur avec une joie entière, et honorez de tels hommes.
30 because for the work of Christ he came near to death, risking his life to supply that which was lacking in your service toward me.
Car c'est pour l'oeuvre de Christ qu'il a été près de la mort, ayant exposé sa vie pour suppléer aux services que vous ne pouviez me rendre vous-mêmes.
