Philippians 2
1 If therefore there is any exhortation in Christ, if any consolation of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any tender mercies and compassion,
Si donc il y a quelque exhortation en Christ, quelque consolation de l'amour, quelque communion de l'Esprit, quelque tendresse et quelque compassion,
2 make my joy full by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind;
comblez ma joie en étant animés des mêmes sentiments, d'un même amour, d'un même accord, d'une même pensée;
3 doing nothing through rivalry or through conceit, but in humility, each counting others better than himself;
ne faisant rien par rivalité ou par vanité, mais avec humilité, chacun comptant les autres meilleurs que lui;
4 each of you not just looking to his own things, but each of you also to the things of others.
chacun de vous ne regardant pas seulement à ses propres choses, mais aussi à celles des autres.
5 Have this in your mind, which was also in Christ Jesus,
Ayez en vous cette pensée, qui était aussi celle de Jésus-Christ,
6 who, existing in the form of God, didn’t consider equality with God a thing to be grasped,
lequel, existant sous la forme de Dieu, n'a pas considéré l'égalité avec Dieu comme une chose à saisir,
7 but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men.
mais s'est dépouillé lui-même, prenant la forme d'un serviteur, étant fait à la ressemblance des hommes.
8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself, becoming obedient to the point of death, yes, the death of the cross.
Et ayant été trouvé dans une forme humaine, il s'est humilié lui-même, devenant obéissant jusqu'à la mort, oui, la mort de la croix.
9 Therefore God also highly exalted him, and gave to him the name which is above every name,
C'est pourquoi Dieu l'a souverainement élevé et lui a donné le nom qui est au-dessus de tout nom,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, those on earth, and those under the earth,
afin qu'au nom de Jésus tout genou fléchisse dans les cieux, sur la terre et sous la terre,
11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
et que toute langue confesse que Jésus-Christ est Seigneur, à la gloire de Dieu le Père.
12 So then, my beloved, even as you have always obeyed, not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
Ainsi donc, mes bien-aimés, comme vous avez toujours obéi, non seulement en ma présence, mais maintenant bien plus encore en mon absence, travaillez à votre propre salut avec crainte et tremblement.
13 For it is God who works in you both to will and to work for his good pleasure.
Car c'est Dieu qui agit en vous, tant pour vouloir que pour faire, selon son bon plaisir.
14 Do all things without complaining and arguing,
Faites toutes choses sans vous plaindre et sans discuter,
15 that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without defect in the middle of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you are seen as lights in the world,
afin que vous deveniez irréprochables et inoffensifs, enfants de Dieu sans défaut au milieu d'une génération tortueuse et perverse, au milieu de laquelle vous êtes vus comme des lumières dans le monde,
16 holding up the word of life, that I may have something to boast in the day of Christ that I didn’t run in vain nor labor in vain.
soutenant la parole de vie, afin d'avoir de quoi me glorifier au jour de Christ de n'avoir pas couru en vain ni travaillé en vain.
17 Yes, and if I am poured out on the sacrifice and service of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all.
Oui, et si je suis répandu sur le sacrifice et le service de votre foi, je suis heureux et je me réjouis avec vous tous.
18 In the same way, you also should be glad and rejoice with me.
De même, vous aussi, soyez dans l'allégresse et réjouissez-vous avec moi.
19 But I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you soon, that I also may be cheered up when I know how you are doing.
Mais j'espère dans le Seigneur Jésus qu'il vous enverra bientôt Timothée, afin que moi aussi je sois réconforté quand je saurai comment vous allez.
20 For I have no one else like-minded, who will truly care about you.
Car je n'ai personne d'autre qui ait les mêmes sentiments que moi et qui s'intéresse vraiment à toi.
21 For they all seek their own, not the things of Jesus Christ.
Car tous cherchent leurs propres intérêts, et non ceux de Jésus-Christ.
22 But you know that he has proved himself. As a child serves a father, so he served with me in furtherance of the Good News.
Mais vous savez qu'il a fait ses preuves. Comme un enfant sert son père, il a servi avec moi pour faire avancer la Bonne Nouvelle.
23 Therefore I hope to send him at once, as soon as I see how it will go with me.
C'est pourquoi j'espère l'envoyer tout de suite, dès que je verrai comment cela se passera pour moi.
24 But I trust in the Lord that I myself also will come shortly.
Mais j'ai confiance dans le Seigneur, car moi aussi je viendrai bientôt.
25 But I thought it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, fellow worker, fellow soldier, and your apostle and servant of my need,
Mais j'ai jugé nécessaire de vous envoyer Epaphrodite, mon frère, mon compagnon de travail, mon compagnon d'armes, votre apôtre et mon serviteur dans le besoin,
26 since he longed for you all, and was very troubled because you had heard that he was sick.
car il vous a tous désirés, et il était très inquiet parce que vous aviez appris qu'il était malade.
27 For indeed he was sick nearly to death, but God had mercy on him, and not on him only, but on me also, that I might not have sorrow on sorrow.
En effet, il a été malade presque à mort, mais Dieu a eu pitié de lui, et non seulement de lui, mais aussi de moi, afin que je n'aie pas tristesse sur tristesse.
28 I have sent him therefore the more diligently, that when you see him again, you may rejoice, and that I may be the less sorrowful.
Je l'ai donc envoyé avec d'autant plus de diligence que, lorsque vous le reverrez, vous vous réjouirez et que je serai moins triste.
29 Receive him therefore in the Lord with all joy, and hold such people in honor,
Recevez-le donc dans le Seigneur en toute joie, et honorez de tels hommes,
30 because for the work of Christ he came near to death, risking his life to supply that which was lacking in your service toward me.
car, pour l'œuvre du Christ, il a frôlé la mort, au péril de sa vie, pour suppléer à ce qui manquait à votre service envers moi.
