Numbers 21
1 The Canaanite, the king of Arad, who lived in the South, heard that Israel came by the way of Atharim. He fought against Israel, and took some of them captive.
Y oyendo el Cananeo, el rey de Arad, el cual habitaba al mediodía, que venía Israel por el camino de las centinelas, peleó con Israel, y tomó de él presa.
2 Israel vowed a vow to Yahweh, and said, “If you will indeed deliver this people into my hand, then I will utterly destroy their cities.”
Entonces Israel hizo voto a Jehová, y dijo: Si entregando entregares a este pueblo en mi mano, yo destruiré sus ciudades.
3 Yahweh listened to the voice of Israel, and delivered up the Canaanites; and they utterly destroyed them and their cities. The name of the place was called Hormah.
Y Jehová oyó la voz de Israel, y entregó al Cananeo, y destruyólos a ellos y a sus ciudades, y llamó el nombre de aquel lugar Jorma.
4 They traveled from Mount Hor by the way to the Red Sea, to go around the land of Edom. The soul of the people was very discouraged because of the journey.
Y partieron del monte de Hor camino del mar Bermejo, para rodear la tierra de Edom; y el alma del pueblo fue angustiada en el camino:
5 The people spoke against God and against Moses: “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no bread, there is no water, and our soul loathes this disgusting food!”
Y habló el pueblo contra Dios, y Moisés: ¿Por qué nos hicisteis subir de Egipto para que muramos en este desierto? que ni hay pan, ni agua, y nuestra alma tiene fastidio de este pan tan liviano.
6 Yahweh sent venomous snakes among the people, and they bit the people. Many people of Israel died.
Y Jehová envió en el pueblo serpientes ardientes, que mordían al pueblo, y murió mucho pueblo de Israel.
7 The people came to Moses, and said, “We have sinned, because we have spoken against Yahweh and against you. Pray to Yahweh, that he take away the serpents from us.” Moses prayed for the people.
Entonces el pueblo vino a Moisés, y dijeron: Pecado habemos, por haber hablado contra Jehová y contra ti: ora a Jehová que quite de nosotros estas serpientes. Y Moisés oró por el pueblo.
8 Yahweh said to Moses, “Make a venomous snake, and set it on a pole. It shall happen that everyone who is bitten, when he sees it, shall live.”
Y Jehová dijo a Moisés: Hazte una serpiente ardiente, y pónla sobre la bandera: y será, que cualquiera que fuere mordido y mirare a ella, vivirá.
9 Moses made a serpent of bronze, and set it on the pole. If a serpent had bitten any man, when he looked at the serpent of bronze, he lived.
Y Moisés hizo una serpiente de metal, y púsola sobre la bandera, y fue, que cuando alguna serpiente mordía a alguno, miraba a la serpiente de metal, y vivía.
10 The children of Israel traveled, and encamped in Oboth.
Y partieron los hijos de Israel, y asentaron campo en Obot.
11 They traveled from Oboth, and encamped at Iyeabarim, in the wilderness which is before Moab, toward the sunrise.
Y partidos de Obot, asentaron en Je-abarim en el desierto que está delante de Moab al nacimiento del sol.
12 From there they traveled, and encamped in the valley of Zered.
Partidos de allí, asentaron al arroyo de Zared.
13 From there they traveled, and encamped on the other side of the Arnon, which is in the wilderness that comes out of the border of the Amorites; for the Arnon is the border of Moab, between Moab and the Amorites.
Y partidos de allí asentaron de la otra parte de Arnón, que es en el desierto, que sale del término del Amorreo: porque Arnón es término de Moab, entre Moab y el Amorreo.
14 Therefore it is said in The Book of the Wars of Yahweh, “Vaheb in Suphah, the valleys of the Arnon,
Por tanto es dicho en el libro de las batallas de Jehová: Lo que hizo en el mar Bermejo, y a los arroyos de Arnón;
15 the slope of the valleys that incline toward the dwelling of Ar, leans on the border of Moab.”
Y la corriente de los arroyos que va a parar en Ar, y descansa en el término de Moab.
16 From there they traveled to Beer; that is the well of which Yahweh said to Moses, “Gather the people together, and I will give them water.”
Y de allí vinieron a Beer: este es el pozo del cual Jehová dijo a Moisés: Junta el pueblo, y darles he aguas.
17 Then Israel sang this song: “Spring up, well! Sing to it,
Entonces Israel cantó esta canción: Sube oh pozo; cantád a él:
18 the well, which the princes dug, which the nobles of the people dug, with the scepter, and with their poles.” From the wilderness they traveled to Mattanah;
Pozo, el cual cavaron los señores: caváronlo los príncipes del pueblo, y el legislador, con sus bordones. Y del desierto vinieron a Matana;
19 and from Mattanah to Nahaliel; and from Nahaliel to Bamoth;
Y de Matana a Nahaliel; y de Nahaliel a Bamot;
20 and from Bamoth to the valley that is in the field of Moab, to the top of Pisgah, which looks down on the desert.
Y de Bamot al valle que está en los campos de Moab, y a la cumbre de Fasga, y a la vista de Jesimón.
21 Israel sent messengers to Sihon king of the Amorites, saying,
Y envió Israel embajadores a Sejón, rey de los Amorreos, diciendo:
22 “Let me pass through your land. We will not turn away into field or vineyard. We will not drink of the water of the wells. We will go by the king’s highway, until we have passed your border.”
Pasaré por tu tierra, no nos apartaremos por los labrados, ni por las viñas: no beberemos las aguas de los pozos, por el camino real iremos, hasta que pasemos tu término.
23 Sihon would not allow Israel to pass through his border, but Sihon gathered all his people together, and went out against Israel into the wilderness, and came to Jahaz. He fought against Israel.
Mas Sejón no dejó pasar a Israel por su término: antes juntó Sejón todo su pueblo, y salió contra Israel en el desierto: y vino a Jasa, y peleó contra Israel.
24 Israel struck him with the edge of the sword, and possessed his land from the Arnon to the Jabbok, even to the children of Ammon; for the border of the children of Ammon was fortified.
E Israel le hirió a filo de espada, y tomó su tierra desde Arnón hasta Jabboc, hasta los hijos de Ammón: porque el término de los hijos de Ammón era fuerte:
25 Israel took all these cities. Israel lived in all the cities of the Amorites, in Heshbon, and in all its villages.
E Israel tomó todas estas ciudades, y habitó Israel en todas las ciudades del Amorreo, en Jesebón, y en todas sus aldeas.
26 For Heshbon was the city of Sihon the king of the Amorites, who had fought against the former king of Moab, and taken all his land out of his hand, even to the Arnon.
Porque Jesebón era la ciudad de Sejón rey de los Amorreos: el cual había tenido guerra antes con el rey de Moab, y había tomado toda su tierra de su poder hasta Arnón.
27 Therefore those who speak in proverbs say, “Come to Heshbon. Let the city of Sihon be built and established;
Por tanto dicen los proverbiantes: Veníd a Jesebón: edifíquese, y repárese la ciudad de Sejón;
28 for a fire has gone out of Heshbon, a flame from the city of Sihon. It has devoured Ar of Moab, The lords of the high places of the Arnon.
Que fuego salió de Jesebón, y llama de la ciudad de Sejón, y consumió a Ar de Moab, a los señores de los altos de Arnón.
29 Woe to you, Moab! You are undone, people of Chemosh! He has given his sons as fugitives, and his daughters into captivity, to Sihon king of the Amorites.
¡Ay de ti, Moab! perecido has pueblo de Camos: puso sus hijos en huida, y sus hijas en cautividad por Sejón rey de los Amorreos.
30 We have shot at them. Heshbon has perished even to Dibon. We have laid waste even to Nophah, Which reaches to Medeba.”
Y Jesebón destruyó su reino hasta Dibón, y destruimos hasta Nofe y Medaba.
31 Thus Israel lived in the land of the Amorites.
Así habitó Israel en la tierra del Amorreo.
32 Moses sent to spy out Jazer. They took its villages, and drove out the Amorites who were there.
Y envió Moisés a reconocer a Jazer, y tomaron sus aldeas, y echaron al Amorreo que estaba allí.
33 They turned and went up by the way of Bashan. Og the king of Bashan went out against them, he and all his people, to battle at Edrei.
Y volvieron, y subieron camino de Basán, y salió contra ellos Og, rey de Basán, él y todo su pueblo para pelear en Edrai.
34 Yahweh said to Moses, “Don’t fear him, for I have delivered him into your hand, with all his people, and his land. You shall do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who lived at Heshbon.”
Entonces Jehová dijo a Moisés: No le tengas miedo; que en tu mano le he dado, a él y a todo su pueblo, y a su tierra; y harás de él, como hiciste de Sejón rey de los Amorreos, que habitaba en Jezebón.
35 So they struck him, with his sons and all his people, until there were no survivors; and they possessed his land.
E hirieron a él, y a sus hijos, y a todo su pueblo, que ninguno quedó de él, y poseyeron su tierra.
