Matthew 6
1 “Be careful that you don’t do your charitable giving before men, to be seen by them, or else you have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.
Hütet euch, daß ihr eure Gerechtigkeit nicht vor den Leuten übet, um von ihnen gesehen zu werden; ihr habt anders keinen Lohn bei euerem Vater, der in den Himmeln ist.
2 Therefore, when you do merciful deeds, don’t sound a trumpet before yourself, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may get glory from men. Most certainly I tell you, they have received their reward.
Wenn du nun Wohltätigkeit übst, so sollst du nicht vor dir herposaunen lassen, wie die Heuchler tun, in den Synagogen und auf den Gassen, damit sie vor den Leuten gepriesen werden. Wahrlich ich sage euch, sie haben ihren Lohn dahin.
3 But when you do merciful deeds, don’t let your left hand know what your right hand does,
Du aber, wenn du Wohltätigkeit übst, so laß deine Linke nicht wissen, was deine Rechte tut.
4 so that your merciful deeds may be in secret, then your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.
Damit dein Wohltun im Verborgenen bleibe; und dein Vater, der im Verborgenen sieht, wird dir´s vergelten.
5 “When you pray, you shall not be as the hypocrites, for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Most certainly, I tell you, they have received their reward.
Wenn du betest, so sollst du nicht sein wie die Heuchler, denn sie lieben es, in den Synagogen und an den Straßenecken stehend zu beten, damit die Leute sie sehen. Wahrlich ich sage euch, sie haben ihren Lohn dahin.
6 But you, when you pray, enter into your inner room, and having shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.
Du aber, wenn du betest, gehe hinein in dein Kämmerlein und schließe deine Türe zu, und bete zu deinem Vater im Verborgenen; und dein Vater, der im Verborgenen sieht, wird dir vergelten.
7 In praying, don’t use vain repetitions as the Gentiles do; for they think that they will be heard for their much speaking.
Wenn ihr betet, sollt ihr nicht plappern, wie die Heiden, denn sie meinen, sie werden erhört, wenn sie viele Worte machen.
8 Therefore don’t be like them, for your Father knows what things you need before you ask him.
Machet euch ihnen doch nicht gleich! denn euer Vater weiß, was ihr nötig habt, ehe denn ihr ihn bittet.
9 Pray like this: “‘Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy.
Darum sollt ihr also beten: Unser Vater, der du bist in den Himmeln! Geheiligt werde dein Name!
10 Let your Kingdom come. Let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Es komme deine Herrschaft herbei! Es geschehe dein Wille, wie im Himmel, also auch auf Erden!
11 Give us today our daily bread.
Unser nötiges Brot gib uns heute!
12 Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors.
Und vergib uns unsere Schulden, wie auch wir vergeben unsern Schuldigern!
13 Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For yours is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen.’
Und führe uns nicht in Versuchung, sondern erlöse uns von dem Bösen! Denn dein ist die Herrschaft, und die Kraft, und die Herrlichkeit, in Ewigkeit. Amen.
14 “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
Denn wenn ihr den Menschen ihre Fehler vergebet, so wird euch euer himmlischer Vater auch vergeben.
15 But if you don’t forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Wenn ihr aber den Menschen ihre Fehler nicht vergebet, so wird euer Vater eure Fehler auch nicht vergeben.
16 “Moreover when you fast, don’t be like the hypocrites, with sad faces. For they disfigure their faces that they may be seen by men to be fasting. Most certainly I tell you, they have received their reward.
Wenn ihr fastet, so werdet nicht trübselig wie die Heuchler; denn sie entstellen ihre Angesichter, auf daß sie vor den Leuten scheinen mit ihrem Fasten. Wahrlich, ich sage euch, sie haben ihren Lohn dahin.
17 But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face,
Wenn du aber fastest, so salbe dein Haupt, und wasche dein Angesicht.
18 so that you are not seen by men to be fasting, but by your Father who is in secret; and your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you.
Damit du nicht scheinest vor den Leuten, als fastend, sondern vor deinem Vater, der im Verborgenen ist, und dein Vater im Verborgenen sieht, wird dir´s vergelten.
19 “Don’t lay up treasures for yourselves on the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal;
Sammelt euch nicht Schätze auf der Erde, wo Motten und Rost aufzehren, und wo Diebe einbrechen und stehlen.
20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consume, and where thieves don’t break through and steal;
Sammelt euch aber Schätze im Himmel, wo weder Motten noch Rost aufzehren, und wo die Diebe nicht einbrechen und stehlen.
21 for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Denn wo euer Schatz ist, da wird auch euer Herz sein.
22 “The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is sound, your whole body will be full of light.
Die Leuchte des Leibes ist das Auge. Wenn nun dein Auge einfältig ist, so wird dein ganzer Leib licht sein.
23 But if your eye is evil, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!
Wenn aber dein Auge böse ist, so wird dein ganzer Leib finster sein. Wenn nun das Licht, das in dir ist, Finsternis ist, wie groß ist dann die Finsternis.
24 “No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You can’t serve both God and Mammon.
Keiner kann zweier Herrn Knecht sein, denn entweder wird er den einen geringschätzen und den andern lieben, oder er wird dem einen anhangen und den andern verachten. Ihr könnet nicht Gottes und des Mammons Knechte sein.
25 Therefore I tell you, don’t be anxious for your life: what you will eat, or what you will drink; nor yet for your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
Deswegen sage ich euch, sorget nicht für eure Seele, was ihr essen, oder was ihr trinken sollt, auch nicht für euern Leib, was ihr anziehen sollt. Ist nicht die Seele mehr, als die Speise? und der Leib mehr als die Kleidung?
26 See the birds of the sky, that they don’t sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns. Your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you of much more value than they?
Sehet die Vögel des Himmels an, wie sie weder säen, noch ernten, noch in Scheunen sammeln; und doch nährt sie euer himmlischer Vater. Seid ihr denn nicht mehr, als sie?
27 “Which of you by being anxious, can add one moment to his lifespan?
Wer ist aber unter euch, der mit seinem Sorgen seiner Länge eine Elle zusetzen kann?
28 Why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow. They don’t toil, neither do they spin,
Und warum macht ihr euch Sorgen wegen der Kleidung? Betrachtet die Lilien des Feldes, wie sie wachsen; sie arbeiten nicht und spinnen nicht;
29 yet I tell you that even Solomon in all his glory was not dressed like one of these.
Doch sage ich euch, daß selbst Salomo in all´ seiner Herrlichkeit nicht bekleidet gewesen ist, wie derselben eine.
30 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today exists and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, won’t he much more clothe you, you of little faith?
Wenn nun Gott das Gras des Feldes, das heute steht und morgen in den Ofen geworfen wird, also kleidet, sollte er nicht vielmehr euch tun, ihr Kleingläubigen?
31 “Therefore don’t be anxious, saying, ‘What will we eat?’, ‘What will we drink?’ or, ‘With what will we be clothed?’
So sorget und saget doch nicht: Was sollen wir essen? Was sollen wir trinken? oder was sollen wir anziehen?
32 For the Gentiles seek after all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
Denn nach all´ dem trachten die Heiden; euer himmlischer Vater weiß, daß ihr dess´ alles bedürfet.
33 But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well.
Trachtet zuerst nach der Herrlichkeit Gottes, und nach Seiner Gerechtigkeit, und solches alles wird euch dazu gegeben werden.
34 Therefore don’t be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Each day’s own evil is sufficient.
So sorget nun nicht auf morgen, denn der morgende Tag wird für sich selbst zu sorgen haben. Jeder Tag hat genug an seiner Plage.
