Matthew 4
1 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.
Alors Jésus fut conduit par l'Esprit dans le désert pour y être tenté par le diable.
2 When he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was hungry afterward.
Après avoir jeûné pendant quarante jours et quarante nuits, il eut faim.
3 The tempter came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”
Et le tentateur, s'approchant, lui dit: " Si vous êtes le Fils de Dieu, commandez que ces pierres deviennent des pains. "
4 But he answered, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of God’s mouth.’”
Jésus lui répondit: " Il est écrit: L'homme ne vit pas seulement de pain, mais de toute parole qui sort de la bouche de Dieu. "
5 Then the devil took him into the holy city. He set him on the pinnacle of the temple,
Alors le diable le transporta dans la ville sainte, et l'ayant posé sur le pinacle du temple,
6 and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written, ‘He will command his angels concerning you,’ and, ‘On their hands they will bear you up, so that you don’t dash your foot against a stone.’”
il lui dit: " Si vous êtes le Fils de Dieu, jetez-vous en bas; car il est écrit: Il a donné pour vous des ordres à ses anges, et ils vous porteront dans leurs mains, de peur que votre pied ne heurte contre la pierre. "
7 Jesus said to him, “Again, it is written, ‘You shall not test the Lord, your God.’”
Jésus lui dit: " Il est écrit aussi: Tu ne tenteras point le Seigneur, ton Dieu. "
8 Again, the devil took him to an exceedingly high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory.
Le diable, de nouveau, le transporta sur une montagne très élevée, et lui montrant tous les royaumes du monde, avec leur gloire,
9 He said to him, “I will give you all of these things, if you will fall down and worship me.”
il lui dit: " Je vous donnerai tout cela, si, tombant à mes pieds, vous m'adorez ".
10 Then Jesus said to him, “Get behind me, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and you shall serve him only.’”
Alors Jésus lui dit: " Retire-toi, Satan; car il est écrit: Tu adoreras le Seigneur, ton Dieu, et tu ne serviras que lui seul. "
11 Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and served him.
Alors le diable le laissa; aussitôt des anges s'approchèrent, et ils le servaient.
12 Now when Jesus heard that John was delivered up, he withdrew into Galilee.
Quand Jésus eut appris que Jean avait été mis en prison, il se retira en Galilée.
13 Leaving Nazareth, he came and lived in Capernaum, which is by the sea, in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali,
Et laissant la ville de Nazareth, il vint demeurer à Capharnaüm, sur les bords de la mer, aux confins de Zabulon et de Nephtali,
14 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying,
afin que s'accomplît cette parole du prophète Isaïe:
15 “The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, toward the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles,
" Terre de Zabulon et terre de Nephtali, qui confines à la mer, pays au-delà du Jourdain, Galilée des Gentils!
16 the people who sat in darkness saw a great light; to those who sat in the region and shadow of death, to them light has dawned.”
Le peuple qui était assis dans les ténèbres a vu une grande lumière; et sur ceux qui étaient assis dans la région de l'ombre de la mort, la lumière s'est levée!
17 From that time, Jesus began to preach, and to say, “Repent! For the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.”
Dès lors Jésus commença à prêcher, en disant: " Repentez-vous, car le royaume des cieux est proche. "
18 Walking by the sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers: Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew, his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.
Comme il marchait le long de la mer de Galilée, Jésus vit deux frères, Simon, appelé Pierre, et André son frère, qui jetaient leur filet dans la mer; car ils étaient pêcheurs.
19 He said to them, “Come after me, and I will make you fishers for men.”
Et il leur dit: " Suivez-moi, et je vous ferai pêcheurs d'hommes. "
20 They immediately left their nets and followed him.
Eux aussitôt, laissant leurs filets, le suivirent.
21 Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets. He called them.
S'avançant plus loin, il vit deux autres frères, Jacques, fils de Zébédée, et Jean son frère, dans une barque, avec leur père Zébédée, réparant leurs filets, et il les appela.
22 They immediately left the boat and their father, and followed him.
Eux aussi, laissant à l'heure même leur barque et leur père, le suivirent.
23 Jesus went about in all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the Good News of the Kingdom, and healing every disease and every sickness among the people.
Jésus parcourait toute la Galilée, enseignant dans leurs synagogues, prêchant l'Evangile du royaume de Dieu, et guérissant toute maladie et toute infirmité parmi le peuple.
24 The report about him went out into all Syria. They brought to him all who were sick, afflicted with various diseases and torments, possessed with demons, epileptics, and paralytics; and he healed them.
Sa renommée se répandit dans toute la Syrie, et on lui présentait tous les malades atteints d'infirmités et de souffrances diverses, des possédés, des lunatiques, des paralytiques, et il les guérissait.
25 Great multitudes from Galilee, Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea, and from beyond the Jordan followed him.
Et une grande multitude le suivit de la Galilée, de la Décapole, de Jérusalem, de la Judée et d'au delà du Jourdain.
