Matthew 27
1 Now when morning had come, all the chief priests and the elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death.
Ότε δε έγεινε πρωΐ, συνεβουλεύθησαν πάντες οι αρχιερείς και οι πρεσβύτεροι του λαού κατά του Ιησού διά να θανατώσωσιν αυτόν·
2 They bound him, led him away, and delivered him up to Pontius Pilate, the governor.
και δέσαντες αυτόν, έφεραν και παρέδωκαν αυτόν εις τον Πόντιον Πιλάτον τον ηγεμόνα.
3 Then Judas, who betrayed him, when he saw that Jesus was condemned, felt remorse, and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,
Τότε ιδών Ιούδας ο παραδόσας αυτόν ότι κατεδικάσθη, μεταμεληθείς επέστρεψε τα τριάκοντα αργύρια εις τους πρεσβυτέρους,
4 saying, “I have sinned in that I betrayed innocent blood.” But they said, “What is that to us? You see to it.”
λέγων· Ήμαρτον παραδόσας αίμα αθώον. Οι δε είπον· Τι προς ημάς; συ όψει.
5 He threw down the pieces of silver in the sanctuary and departed. Then he went away and hanged himself.
Και ρίψας τα αργύρια εν τω ναώ, ανεχώρησε και απελθών εκρεμάσθη.
6 The chief priests took the pieces of silver and said, “It’s not lawful to put them into the treasury, since it is the price of blood.”
Οι δε αρχιερείς, λαβόντες τα αργύρια, είπον· Δεν είναι συγκεχωρημένον να βάλωμεν αυτά εις το θησαυροφυλάκιον, διότι είναι τιμή αίματος.
7 They took counsel, and bought the potter’s field with them to bury strangers in.
Και συμβουλευθέντες ηγόρασαν με αυτά τον αγρόν του κεραμέως, διά να ενταφιάζωνται εκεί οι ξένοι.
8 Therefore that field has been called “The Field of Blood” to this day.
Διά τούτο ωνομάσθη ο αγρός εκείνος Αγρός αίματος έως της σήμερον.
9 Then that which was spoken through Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled, saying, “They took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him upon whom a price had been set, whom some of the children of Israel priced,
Τότε επληρώθη το ρηθέν διά Ιερεμίου του προφήτου, λέγοντος· Και έλαβον τα τριάκοντα αργύρια, την τιμήν του εκτιμηθέντος, τον οποίον εξετίμησαν από των υιών Ισραήλ,
10 and they gave them for the potter’s field, as the Lord commanded me.”
και έδωκαν αυτά εις τον αγρόν του κεραμέως, καθώς μοι παρήγγειλεν ο Κύριος.
11 Now Jesus stood before the governor; and the governor asked him, saying, “Are you the King of the Jews?” Jesus said to him, “So you say.”
Ο δε Ιησούς εστάθη έμπροσθεν του ηγεμόνος· και ηρώτησεν αυτόν ο ηγεμών, λέγων· Συ είσαι ο βασιλεύς των Ιουδαίων; Ο δε Ιησούς είπε προς αυτόν· Συ λέγεις.
12 When he was accused by the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing.
Και ενώ εκατηγορείτο υπό των αρχιερέων και των πρεσβυτέρων, ουδέν απεκρίθη.
13 Then Pilate said to him, “Don’t you hear how many things they testify against you?”
Τότε λέγει προς αυτόν ο Πιλάτος· Δεν ακούεις πόσα σου καταμαρτυρούσι;
14 He gave him no answer, not even one word, so that the governor marveled greatly.
Και δεν απεκρίθη προς αυτόν ουδέ προς ένα λόγον, ώστε ο ηγεμών εθαύμαζε πολύ.
15 Now at the feast the governor was accustomed to release to the multitude one prisoner whom they desired.
Κατά δε την εορτήν εσυνείθιζεν ο ηγεμών να απολύη εις τον όχλον ένα δέσμιον, όντινα ήθελον.
16 They had then a notable prisoner called Barabbas.
Και είχον τότε δέσμιον περιβόητον λεγόμενον Βαραββάν.
17 When therefore they were gathered together, Pilate said to them, “Whom do you want me to release to you? Barabbas, or Jesus who is called Christ?”
Ενώ λοιπόν ήσαν συνηγμένοι, είπε προς αυτούς ο Πιλάτος· Τίνα θέλετε να σας απολύσω; τον Βαραββάν ή τον Ιησούν τον λεγόμενον Χριστόν;
18 For he knew that because of envy they had delivered him up.
Επειδή ήξευρεν ότι διά φθόνον παρέδωκαν αυτόν.
19 While he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent to him, saying, “Have nothing to do with that righteous man, for I have suffered many things today in a dream because of him.”
Ενώ δε εκάθητο επί του βήματος, απέστειλε προς αυτόν η γυνή αυτού, λέγουσα· Άπεχε του δικαίου εκείνου· διότι πολλά έπαθον σήμερον κατ' όναρ δι' αυτόν.
20 Now the chief priests and the elders persuaded the multitudes to ask for Barabbas and destroy Jesus.
Οι δε αρχιερείς και οι πρεσβύτεροι έπεισαν τους όχλους να ζητήσωσι τον Βαραββάν, τον δε Ιησούν να απολέσωσι.
21 But the governor answered them, “Which of the two do you want me to release to you?” They said, “Barabbas!”
Και αποκριθείς ο ηγεμών είπε προς αυτούς· Τίνα θέλετε από των δύο να σας απολύσω; οι δε είπον· Τον Βαραββάν.
22 Pilate said to them, “What then shall I do to Jesus who is called Christ?” They all said to him, “Let him be crucified!”
Λέγει προς αυτούς ο Πιλάτος· Τι λοιπόν να κάμω τον Ιησούν τον λεγόμενον Χριστόν; Λέγουσι προς αυτόν πάντες· Σταυρωθήτω.
23 But the governor said, “Why? What evil has he done?” But they cried out exceedingly, saying, “Let him be crucified!”
Ο δε ηγεμών είπε· Και τι κακόν έπραξεν; Οι δε περισσότερον έκραζον, λέγοντες· Σταυρωθήτω.
24 So when Pilate saw that nothing was being gained, but rather that a disturbance was starting, he took water and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, “I am innocent of the blood of this righteous person. You see to it.”
Και ιδών ο Πιλάτος ότι ουδέν ωφελεί, αλλά μάλλον θόρυβος γίνεται, λαβών ύδωρ ένιψε τας χείρας αυτού έμπροσθεν του όχλου, λέγων· Αθώος είμαι από του αίματος του δικαίου τούτου· υμείς όψεσθε.
25 All the people answered, “May his blood be on us and on our children!”
Και αποκριθείς πας ο λαός είπε· το αίμα αυτού ας ήναι εφ' ημάς και επί τα τέκνα ημών.
26 Then he released Barabbas to them, but Jesus he flogged and delivered to be crucified.
Τότε απέλυσεν εις αυτούς τον Βαραββάν, τον δε Ιησούν μαστιγώσας παρέδωκε διά να σταυρωθή.
27 Then the governor’s soldiers took Jesus into the Praetorium, and gathered the whole garrison together against him.
Τότε οι στρατιώται του ηγεμόνος, παραλαβόντες τον Ιησούν εις το πραιτώριον, συνήθροισαν επ' αυτόν όλον το τάγμα των στρατιωτών·
28 They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him.
και εκδύσαντες αυτόν ενέδυσαν αυτόν χλαμύδα κοκκίνην,
29 They braided a crown of thorns and put it on his head, and a reed in his right hand; and they kneeled down before him and mocked him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!”
και πλέξαντες στέφανον εξ ακανθών, έθεσαν επί την κεφαλήν αυτού και κάλαμον εις την δεξιάν αυτού, και γονυπετήσαντες έμπροσθεν αυτού, ενέπαιζον αυτόν, λέγοντες· Χαίρε, ο βασιλεύς των Ιουδαίων·
30 They spat on him, and took the reed and struck him on the head.
και εμπτύσαντες εις αυτόν έλαβον τον κάλαμον και έτυπτον εις την κεφαλήν αυτού.
31 When they had mocked him, they took the robe off him, and put his clothes on him, and led him away to crucify him.
Και αφού ενέπαιξαν αυτόν, εξέδυσαν αυτόν την χλαμύδα και ενέδυσαν αυτόν τα ιμάτια αυτού, και έφεραν αυτόν διά να σταυρώσωσιν.
32 As they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name, and they compelled him to go with them, that he might carry his cross.
Ενώ δε εξήρχοντο, εύρον άνθρωπον Κυρηναίον, ονομαζόμενον Σίμωνα· τούτον ηγγάρευσαν διά να σηκώση τον σταυρόν αυτού.
33 When they came to a place called “Golgotha”, that is to say, “The place of a skull,”
Και ότε ήλθον εις τόπον λεγόμενον Γολγοθά, όστις λέγεται Κρανίου τόπος,
34 they gave him sour wine to drink mixed with gall. When he had tasted it, he would not drink.
έδωκαν εις αυτόν να πίη όξος μεμιγμένον μετά χολής· και γευθείς δεν ήθελε να πίη.
35 When they had crucified him, they divided his clothing among them, casting lots,
Αφού δε εσταύρωσαν αυτόν διεμερίσθησαν τα ιμάτια αυτού, βάλλοντες κλήρον, διά να πληρωθή το ρηθέν υπό του προφήτου, Διεμερίσθησαν τα ιμάτιά μου εις εαυτούς και επί τον ιματισμόν μου έβαλον κλήρον.
36 and they sat and watched him there.
Και καθήμενοι εφύλαττον αυτόν εκεί.
37 They set up over his head the accusation against him written, “THIS IS JESUS, THE KING OF THE JEWS.”
Και έθεσαν επάνωθεν της κεφαλής αυτού την κατηγορίαν αυτού γεγραμμένην· Ούτος εστιν Ιησούς ο βασιλεύς των Ιουδαίων.
38 Then there were two robbers crucified with him, one on his right hand and one on the left.
Τότε εσταυρώθησαν μετ' αυτού δύο λησταί, εις εκ δεξιών και εις εξ αριστερών.
39 Those who passed by blasphemed him, wagging their heads
οι δε διαβαίνοντες εβλασφήμουν αυτόν, κινούντες τας κεφαλάς αυτών
40 and saying, “You who destroy the temple and build it in three days, save yourself! If you are the Son of God, come down from the cross!”
και λέγοντες· Ο χαλών τον ναόν και διά τριών ημερών οικοδομών, σώσον σεαυτόν· αν ήσαι Υιός του Θεού, κατάβα από του σταυρού.
41 Likewise the chief priests also mocking with the scribes, the Pharisees, and the elders, said,
Ομοίως δε και οι αρχιερείς εμπαίζοντες μετά των γραμματέων και πρεσβυτέρων, έλεγον.
42 “He saved others, but he can’t save himself. If he is the King of Israel, let him come down from the cross now, and we will believe in him.
Άλλους έσωσεν, εαυτόν δεν δύναται να σώση· αν ήναι βασιλεύς του Ισραήλ, ας καταβή τώρα από του σταυρού και θέλομεν πιστεύσει εις αυτόν·
43 He trusts in God. Let God deliver him now, if he wants him; for he said, ‘I am the Son of God.’”
πέποιθεν επί τον Θεόν, ας σώση τώρα αυτόν, εάν θέλη αυτόν· επειδή είπεν ότι Θεού Υιός είμαι.
44 The robbers also who were crucified with him cast on him the same reproach.
Το αυτό δε και οι λησταί οι συσταυρωθέντες μετ' αυτού ωνείδιζον εις αυτόν.
45 Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hour.
Από δε έκτης ώρας σκότος έγεινεν εφ' όλην την γην έως ώρας εννάτης·
46 About the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lima sabachthani?” That is, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”
περί δε την εννάτην ώραν ανεβόησεν ο Ιησούς μετά φωνής μεγάλης, λέγων· Ηλί, Ηλί, λαμά σαβαχθανί; τουτέστι, Θεέ μου, Θεέ μου, διά τι με εγκατέλιπες;
47 Some of them who stood there, when they heard it, said, “This man is calling Elijah.”
Και τινές των εκεί εστώτων ακούσαντες, έλεγον ότι τον Ηλίαν φωνάζει ούτος.
48 Immediately one of them ran and took a sponge, filled it with vinegar, put it on a reed, and gave him a drink.
Και ευθύς έδραμεν εις εξ αυτών και λαβών σπόγγον και γεμίσας όξους και περιθέσας εις κάλαμον επότιζεν αυτόν.
49 The rest said, “Let him be. Let’s see whether Elijah comes to save him.”
Οι δε λοιποί έλεγον· Άφες, ας ίδωμεν αν έρχηται ο Ηλίας να σώση αυτόν.
50 Jesus cried again with a loud voice, and yielded up his spirit.
Ο δε Ιησούς πάλιν κράξας μετά φωνής μεγάλης, αφήκε το πνεύμα.
51 Behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from the top to the bottom. The earth quaked and the rocks were split.
Και ιδού, το καταπέτασμα του ναού εσχίσθη εις δύο από άνωθεν έως κάτω, και η γη εσείσθη και αι πέτραι εσχίσθησαν,
52 The tombs were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised;
και τα μνημεία ηνοίχθησαν και πολλά σώματα των κεκοιμημένων αγίων ανέστησαν,
53 and coming out of the tombs after his resurrection, they entered into the holy city and appeared to many.
και εξελθόντες εκ των μνημείων μετά την ανάστασιν αυτού εισήλθον εις την αγίαν πόλιν και ενεφανίσθησαν εις πολλούς.
54 Now the centurion and those who were with him watching Jesus, when they saw the earthquake and the things that were done, were terrified, saying, “Truly this was the Son of God!”
Ο δε εκατόνταρχος και οι μετ' αυτού φυλάττοντες τον Ιησούν, ιδόντες τον σεισμόν και τα γενόμενα, εφοβήθησαν σφόδρα, λέγοντες· Αληθώς Θεού Υιός ήτο ούτος.
55 Many women were there watching from afar, who had followed Jesus from Galilee, serving him.
Ήσαν δε εκεί γυναίκες πολλαί από μακρόθεν θεωρούσαι, αίτινες ηκολούθησαν τον Ιησούν από της Γαλιλαίας υπηρετούσαι αυτόν·
56 Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of the sons of Zebedee.
μεταξύ των οποίων ήτο Μαρία η Μαγδαληνή, και Μαρία η μήτηρ του Ιακώβου και Ιωσή, και η μήτηρ των υιών Ζεβεδαίου.
57 When evening had come, a rich man from Arimathaea named Joseph, who himself was also Jesus’ disciple, came.
Ότε δε έγεινεν εσπέρα, ήλθεν άνθρωπος πλούσιος από Αριμαθαίας, το όνομα Ιωσήφ, όστις και αυτός εμαθήτευσεν εις τον Ιησούν·
58 This man went to Pilate and asked for Jesus’ body. Then Pilate commanded the body to be given up.
ούτος ελθών προς τον Πιλάτον, εζήτησε το σώμα του Ιησού. Τότε ο Πιλάτος προσέταξε να αποδοθή το σώμα.
59 Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a clean linen cloth
Και λαβών το σώμα ο Ιωσήφ, ετύλιξεν αυτό με σινδόνα καθαράν,
60 and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had cut out in the rock. Then he rolled a large stone against the door of the tomb, and departed.
και έθεσεν αυτό εν τω νέω αυτού μνημείω, το οποίον ελατόμησεν εν τη πέτρα, και προσκυλίσας λίθον μέγαν εις την θύραν του μνημείου ανεχώρησεν.
61 Mary Magdalene was there, and the other Mary, sitting opposite the tomb.
Ήτο δε εκεί Μαρία η Μαγδαληνή και η άλλη Μαρία, καθήμεναι απέναντι του τάφου.
62 Now on the next day, which was the day after the Preparation Day, the chief priests and the Pharisees were gathered together to Pilate,
Και τη επαύριον, ήτις είναι μετά την παρασκευήν, συνήχθησαν οι αρχιερείς και οι Φαρισαίοι προς τον Πιλάτον
63 saying, “Sir, we remember what that deceiver said while he was still alive: ‘After three days I will rise again.’
λέγοντες· Κύριε, ενεθυμήθημεν ότι εκείνος ο πλάνος είπεν έτι ζων, Μετά τρεις ημέρας θέλω αναστηθή.
64 Command therefore that the tomb be made secure until the third day, lest perhaps his disciples come at night and steal him away, and tell the people, ‘He is risen from the dead;’ and the last deception will be worse than the first.”
Πρόσταξον λοιπόν να ασφαλισθή ο τάφος έως της τρίτης ημέρας, μήποτε οι μαθηταί αυτού ελθόντες διά νυκτός κλέψωσιν αυτόν και είπωσι προς τον λαόν, Ανέστη εκ των νεκρών· και θέλει είσθαι η εσχάτη πλάνη χειροτέρα της πρώτης.
65 Pilate said to them, “You have a guard. Go, make it as secure as you can.”
Είπε δε προς αυτούς ο Πιλάτος· Έχετε φύλακας· υπάγετε, ασφαλίσατε καθώς εξεύρετε.
66 So they went with the guard and made the tomb secure, sealing the stone.
Οι δε υπήγον και ησφάλισαν τον τάφον, σφραγίσαντες τον λίθον και επιστήσαντες τους φύλακας.
