Matthew 22
1 Jesus answered and spoke to them again in parables, saying,
Respondiendo Jesús les habló de nuevo en parábolas, y dijo:
2 “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a certain king, who made a wedding feast for his son,
“El reino de los cielos es semejante a un rey que celebró las bodas de su hijo.
3 and sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding feast, but they would not come.
Y envió a sus siervos a llamar a los convidados a las bodas, mas ellos no quisieron venir.
4 Again he sent out other servants, saying, ‘Tell those who are invited, “Behold, I have prepared my dinner. My cattle and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready. Come to the wedding feast!”’
Entonces envió a otros siervos, a los cuales dijo: “Decid a los convidados: Tengo preparado mi banquete; mis toros y animales cebados han sido sacrificados ya, y todo está a punto: venid a las bodas”.
5 But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his merchandise;
Pero, sin hacerle caso, se fueron el uno a su granja, el otro a sus negocios.
6 and the rest grabbed his servants, treated them shamefully, and killed them.
Y los restantes agarraron a los siervos, los ultrajaron y los mataron.
7 When the king heard that, he was angry, and sent his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned their city.
El rey, encolerizado, envió sus soldados, hizo perecer a aquellos homicidas, y quemó su ciudad.
8 “Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding is ready, but those who were invited weren’t worthy.
Entonces dijo a sus siervos: “Las bodas están preparadas, mas los convidados no eran dignos.
9 Go therefore to the intersections of the highways, and as many as you may find, invite to the wedding feast.’
Id, pues, a las encrucijadas de los caminos, y a todos cuantos halléis, invitadlos a las bodas”.
10 Those servants went out into the highways and gathered together as many as they found, both bad and good. The wedding was filled with guests.
Salieron aquellos siervos a los caminos, y reunieron a todos cuantos hallaron, malos y buenos, y la sala de las bodas quedó llena de convidados.
11 “But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man who didn’t have on wedding clothing,
Mas cuando el rey entró para ver a los comensales, notó a un hombre que no estaba vestido con el traje de boda.
12 and he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you come in here not wearing wedding clothing?’ He was speechless.
Díjole: “Amigo, ¿cómo has entrado aquí sin tener el traje de boda?” Y él enmudeció.
13 Then the king said to the servants, ‘Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and throw him into the outer darkness. That is where the weeping and grinding of teeth will be.’
Entonces el rey dijo a los siervos: “Atadlo de pies y manos, y arrojadlo a las tinieblas de afuera; allí será el llanto y el rechinar de dientes.
14 For many are called, but few chosen.”
Porque muchos son llamados, mas pocos escogidos”.
15 Then the Pharisees went and took counsel how they might entrap him in his talk.
Entonces los fariseos se fueron y deliberaron cómo le sorprenderían en alguna palabra.
16 They sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians, saying, “Teacher, we know that you are honest, and teach the way of God in truth, no matter whom you teach; for you aren’t partial to anyone.
Le enviaron, pues, sus discípulos con los herodianos, a decirle: “Maestro, sabemos que eres veraz y que enseñas el camino de Dios con verdad, sin miedo a nadie, porque no miras a la persona de los hombres.
17 Tell us therefore, what do you think? Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?”
Dinos, pues, lo que piensas: ¿es lícito pagar tributo al César o no?”
18 But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, “Why do you test me, you hypocrites?
Mas Jesús, conociendo su malicia, repuso: “Hipócritas, ¿por qué me tentáis?
19 Show me the tax money.” They brought to him a denarius.
Mostradme la moneda del tributo”. Y le presentaron un denario.
20 He asked them, “Whose is this image and inscription?”
Preguntoles: “¿De quién es esta figura y la leyenda?”
21 They said to him, “Caesar’s.” Then he said to them, “Give therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”
Le respondieron: “del César”. Entonces les dijo: “Dad, pues, al César lo que es del César, y a Dios lo que es de Dios”.
22 When they heard it, they marveled, and left him and went away.
Oyendo esto, quedaron maravillados, y dejándolo se fueron.
23 On that day Sadducees (those who say that there is no resurrection) came to him. They asked him,
En aquel día, algunos saduceos, los cuales dicen que no hay resurrección, se acercaron a Él, y le propusieron esta cuestión:
24 saying, “Teacher, Moses said, ‘If a man dies, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife and raise up offspring for his brother.’
“Maestro, Moisés ha dicho: ‘Si alguno muere sin tener hijos, su hermano se casará con la cuñada, y suscitará prole a su hermano’.
25 Now there were with us seven brothers. The first married and died, and having no offspring left his wife to his brother.
Ahora bien, había entre nosotros siete hermanos. El primero se casó y murió; y como no tuviese descendencia, dejó su mujer a su hermano.
26 In the same way, the second also, and the third, to the seventh.
Sucedió lo mismo con el segundo, y con el tercero, hasta el séptimo.
27 After them all, the woman died.
Después de todos murió la mujer.
28 In the resurrection therefore, whose wife will she be of the seven? For they all had her.”
En la resurrección, pues, ¿de cuál de los siete será mujer? Porque todos la tuvieron”.
29 But Jesus answered them, “You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God.
Respondioles Jesús y dijo: “Erráis, por no entender las Escrituras ni el poder de Dios.
30 For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like God’s angels in heaven.
Pues en la resurrección, ni se casan ( los hombres ), ni se dan (las mujeres ) en matrimonio, sino que son como ángeles de Dios en el cielo.
31 But concerning the resurrection of the dead, haven’t you read that which was spoken to you by God, saying,
Y en cuanto a la resurrección de los muertos, ¿no habéis leído lo que os ha dicho Dios:
32 ‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.”
“Yo soy el Dios de Abrahán, y el Dios de Isaac, y el Dios de Jacob”? Dios no es Dios de muertos, sino de vivientes”.
33 When the multitudes heard it, they were astonished at his teaching.
Al oír esto, las muchedumbres estaban poseídas de admiración por su doctrina.
34 But the Pharisees, when they heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, gathered themselves together.
Mas los fariseos, al oír que había tapado la boca a los saduceos, vinieron a reunirse junto a Él;
35 One of them, a lawyer, asked him a question, testing him.
y uno de ellos, doctor de la Ley, le propuso esta cuestión para tentarlo:
36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?”
“Maestro, ¿cuál es el mayor mandamiento de la Ley?”
37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’
Respondió Él: “Amarás al Señor tu Dios de todo tu corazón, con toda tu alma, y con todo tu espíritu.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
Este es el mayor y primer mandamiento.
39 A second likewise is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’
El segundo le es semejante: “Amarás a tu prójimo como a ti mismo”.
40 The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments.”
De estos dos mandamientos pende toda la Ley y los Profetas”.
41 Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them a question,
Estando aún reunidos los fariseos, Jesús les propuso esta cuestión:
42 saying, “What do you think of the Christ? Whose son is he?” They said to him, “Of David.”
“¿Qué pensáis del Cristo? ¿De quién es hijo?” Dijéronle “de David”.
43 He said to them, “How then does David in the Spirit call him Lord, saying,
Replicó Él “¿Cómo, entonces, David ( inspirado ), por el Espíritu, lo llama “Señor”, cuando dice:
44 ‘The Lord said to my Lord, sit on my right hand, until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet’?
“El Señor dijo a mi Señor: Sientate a mi diestra, hasta que ponga a tus enemigos bajo tus pies”?
45 “If then David calls him Lord, how is he his son?”
Si David lo llama “Señor” ¿cómo es su hijo?
46 No one was able to answer him a word, neither did any man dare ask him any more questions from that day forward.
Y nadie pudo responderle nada, y desde ese día nadie osó más proponerle cuestiones.
