Matthew 22
1 Jesus answered and spoke to them again in parables, saying,
Jesus nahm von neuem das Wort zu Gleichnisreden und sprach zu ihnen:
2 “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a certain king, who made a wedding feast for his son,
"Das Himmelreich gleicht einem König, der seinem Sohn die Hochzeit ausrichtete.
3 and sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding feast, but they would not come.
Er sandte seine Knechte aus, um die schon geladenen Gäste zur Hochzeit zu entbieten; aber sie hatten keine Lust zu kommen
4 Again he sent out other servants, saying, ‘Tell those who are invited, “Behold, I have prepared my dinner. My cattle and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready. Come to the wedding feast!”’
Da sandte er nochmals andere Knechte mit dem Auftrag: 'Sagt den geladenen Gästen: Mein Frühmahl ist nun fertig, meine Ochsen und mein Mastvieh ist geschlachtet. Alles ist bereit, kommt zur Hochzeit!'
5 But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his merchandise;
Doch, ohne diese Botschaft zu beachten, gingen die einen von den Gästen auf dem Acker oder beim Handel ihren täglichen Geschäften nach.
6 and the rest grabbed his servants, treated them shamefully, and killed them.
Die anderen aber ergriffen des Königs Knechte, verhöhnten sie, ja brachten sie ums Leben.
7 When the king heard that, he was angry, and sent his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned their city.
Da ward der König zornig: er sandte seine Heere aus; die brachten diese Mörder um und verbrannten ihre Stadt.
8 “Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding is ready, but those who were invited weren’t worthy.
Dann sprach er zu seinen Knechten: 'Das Hochzeitsmahl ist fertig; doch die geladenen Gäste waren nicht wert, daran teilzunehmen.
9 Go therefore to the intersections of the highways, and as many as you may find, invite to the wedding feast.’
So geht denn vor die Stadt hinaus: dorthin, wo die Feldwege beginnen, und alle, die ihr findet, ladet zur Hochzeit!'
10 Those servants went out into the highways and gathered together as many as they found, both bad and good. The wedding was filled with guests.
Die Knechte gingen aus auf die Landstraßen, und alle die sie fanden, führten sie herbei: Böse sowohl wie Gute. Und der Hochzeitssaal füllte sich mit Gästen.
11 “But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man who didn’t have on wedding clothing,
Nun trat der König ein, um sich die Gäste anzusehen. Da nahm er eine wahr, der trug kein Hochzeitskleid.
12 and he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you come in here not wearing wedding clothing?’ He was speechless.
Und er sprach zu ihm: 'Mein Freund, wie hast du Einlaß finden können ohne Hochzeitskleid?' Er aber schwieg.
13 Then the king said to the servants, ‘Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and throw him into the outer darkness. That is where the weeping and grinding of teeth will be.’
Da sprach der König zu den Dienern: 'Bindet ihn an Händen und Füßen und werft ihn in die Finsternis hinaus!' Dort wird lautes Klagen und Zähneknirschen sein.
14 For many are called, but few chosen.”
Denn viele sind berufen, aber nur wenige sind auserwählt."
15 Then the Pharisees went and took counsel how they might entrap him in his talk.
Da gingen die Pharisäer hin und berieten sich, wie sie ihn in seinen eigenen Worten fangen könnten.
16 They sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians, saying, “Teacher, we know that you are honest, and teach the way of God in truth, no matter whom you teach; for you aren’t partial to anyone.
Sie sandten deshalb ihre Schüler zu ihm, die von Anhängern des Herodes begleitet waren. Die sprachen zu ihm: "Meister, wir wissen, du bist aufrichtig und lehrst in aller Wahrheit Gottes Weg; dabei nimmst du auf niemand Rücksicht, denn Menschengunst gilt nicht bei dir.
17 Tell us therefore, what do you think? Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?”
So sag uns denn, was meinst du: Darf man dem Kaiser Steuer zahlen oder nicht?"
18 But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, “Why do you test me, you hypocrites?
Jesus aber merkte ihre böse Absicht und sprach zu ihnen: "Was versucht ihr mich, ihr Heuchler?
19 Show me the tax money.” They brought to him a denarius.
Zeigt mir die Steuermünze!" Da reichten sie ihm einen Silberling.
20 He asked them, “Whose is this image and inscription?”
Und er fragte sie: "Wessen Bild und Inschrift steht hier?"
21 They said to him, “Caesar’s.” Then he said to them, “Give therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”
Sie antworteten ihm: "Des Kaisers." Da sprach er zu ihnen: "So gebt dem Kaiser, was dem Kaiser gebührt, und Gott, was Gott gebührt!"
22 When they heard it, they marveled, and left him and went away.
Über diese Antwort waren sie verwundert, und sie verließen ihn und gingen ihres Weges.
23 On that day Sadducees (those who say that there is no resurrection) came to him. They asked him,
An demselben Tag traten Sadduzäer zu ihm, die da behaupteten, es gebe keine Auferstehung, und legten ihm auch eine Frage vor.
24 saying, “Teacher, Moses said, ‘If a man dies, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife and raise up offspring for his brother.’
"Meister", so sprachen sie, "Mose hat gesagt: Stirbt jemand kinderlos, so soll sein Bruder die verwitwete Schwägerin zum Weib nehmen und (mit ihr) seinem (verstorbenen) Bruder Nachkommen erwecken.
25 Now there were with us seven brothers. The first married and died, and having no offspring left his wife to his brother.
Nun lebten unter uns sieben Brüder. Der erste freite und starb kinderlos: so hinterließ er seine Witwe seinem Bruder.
26 In the same way, the second also, and the third, to the seventh.
Ebenso ging es mit dem zweiten und dritten, ja mit allen sieben.
27 After them all, the woman died.
Zuletzt von allen starb auch die Frau.
28 In the resurrection therefore, whose wife will she be of the seven? For they all had her.”
Wem von diesen sieben wird sie nun bei der Auferstehung als Gattin angehören? Sie haben sie ja alle zur Frau gehabt."
29 But Jesus answered them, “You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God.
Jesus antwortete ihnen: "Ihr seid im Irrtum, denn ihr kennt die Schriften nicht noch Gottes Macht.
30 For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like God’s angels in heaven.
Die Auferstandenen freien nicht und lassen sich nicht freien, sondern sind wie Gottes Engel im Himmel.
31 But concerning the resurrection of the dead, haven’t you read that which was spoken to you by God, saying,
Was aber die Auferstehung der Toten betrifft, habt ihr da nicht gelesen, was Gott zu euch in dem bekannten Wort spricht:
32 ‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.”
Ich bin der Gott Abrahams, der Gott Isaaks und der Gott Jakobs? Gott ist nun aber nicht ein Gott der Toten, sondern der Lebendigen."
33 When the multitudes heard it, they were astonished at his teaching.
Das Volk, das diese Worte hörte, staunte über seine Lehre.
34 But the Pharisees, when they heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, gathered themselves together.
Als die Pharisäer erfuhren, er habe die Sadduzäer zum Schweigen gebracht, versammelten sie sich.
35 One of them, a lawyer, asked him a question, testing him.
Einer aus ihrer Mitte, ein Gesetzeslehrer, wollte ihm eine Falle stellen und fragte ihn deshalb:
36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?”
"Meister, welches ist das wichtigste Gebot im Gesetz?"
37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’
Er antwortete ihm: "Du sollst den Herrn, deinen Gott, lieben mit ganzem Herzen, mit ganzer Seele und mit allem Denken.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
Dies ist das wichtigste und höchste Gebot.
39 A second likewise is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’
Das andere aber, das ihm gleichsteht, lautet: Du sollst deinen Nächsten lieben wie dich selbst.
40 The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments.”
In diesen beiden Geboten hängen das ganze Gesetz und die Propheten."
41 Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them a question,
Als dann die Pharisäer beisammen waren, fragte sie Jesus:
42 saying, “What do you think of the Christ? Whose son is he?” They said to him, “Of David.”
"Was denkt ihr über den Messias? Wessen Sohn ist er?" Sie antworteten ihm: "Davids."
43 He said to them, “How then does David in the Spirit call him Lord, saying,
Da sprach Jesus zu ihnen: "Wie kann ihn denn David, vom Geist erleuchtet, Herr nennen, in dem Ausspruch:
44 ‘The Lord said to my Lord, sit on my right hand, until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet’?
Der Herr hat gesagt zu meinem Herrn: Sitze du zu meiner Rechten, bis ich dir deine Feinde zu Füßen lege?
45 “If then David calls him Lord, how is he his son?”
Wenn ihn nun David seinen Herrn nennt, wie kann er da zugleich sein Sohn sein?"
46 No one was able to answer him a word, neither did any man dare ask him any more questions from that day forward.
Darauf konnte ihm niemand ein Wort erwidern, und seitdem wagte auch keiner mehr, ihm eine Frage vorzulegen.
