Matthew 22
1 Jesus answered and spoke to them again in parables, saying,
Jésus, prenant la parole, leur parla de nouveau en paraboles, et il dit:
2 “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a certain king, who made a wedding feast for his son,
" Le royaume des cieux est semblable à un roi qui faisait les noces de son fils.
3 and sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding feast, but they would not come.
Il envoya ses serviteurs appeler ceux qui avaient été invités aux noces, et ils ne voulurent pas venir.
4 Again he sent out other servants, saying, ‘Tell those who are invited, “Behold, I have prepared my dinner. My cattle and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready. Come to the wedding feast!”’
Il envoya encore d'autres serviteurs, en disant: Dites aux conviés: Voilà que j'ai préparé mon festin; on a tué mes bœufs et mes animaux engraissés; tout est prêt, venez aux noces.
5 But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his merchandise;
Mais ils n'en tinrent pas compte, et ils s'en allèrent, l'un à son champ, l'autre à son négoce;
6 and the rest grabbed his servants, treated them shamefully, and killed them.
et les autres se saisirent des serviteurs, et après les avoir injuriés, ils les tuèrent.
7 When the king heard that, he was angry, and sent his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned their city.
Le roi, l'ayant appris, entra en colère; il envoya ses armées, extermina ces meurtriers et brûla leur ville.
8 “Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding is ready, but those who were invited weren’t worthy.
Alors il dit à ses serviteurs: le festin des noces est prêt, mais les conviés n'en étaient pas dignes.
9 Go therefore to the intersections of the highways, and as many as you may find, invite to the wedding feast.’
Allez donc dans les carrefours, et tous ceux que vous trouverez, invitez-les aux noces.
10 Those servants went out into the highways and gathered together as many as they found, both bad and good. The wedding was filled with guests.
Ces serviteurs, s'étant répandus par les chemins, rassemblèrent tous ceux qu'ils trouvèrent, bons ou mauvais; et la salle des noces fut remplie de convives.
11 “But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man who didn’t have on wedding clothing,
Le roi entra pour voir ceux qui étaient à table et ayant aperçu là un homme qui n'était point revêtu d'une robe nuptiale,
12 and he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you come in here not wearing wedding clothing?’ He was speechless.
il lui dit: Mon ami, comment es-tu entré ici sans avoir une robe de noces? Et cet homme resta muet.
13 Then the king said to the servants, ‘Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and throw him into the outer darkness. That is where the weeping and grinding of teeth will be.’
Alors le roi dit à ses serviteurs: Liez-lui les mains et les pieds, et jetez-le dans les ténèbres extérieures: c'est là qu'il y aura des pleurs et des grincements de dents.
14 For many are called, but few chosen.”
Car il y a beaucoup d'appelés, mais peu d'élus. "
15 Then the Pharisees went and took counsel how they might entrap him in his talk.
Alors les Pharisiens s'étant retirés, se concertèrent pour surprendre Jésus dans ses paroles.
16 They sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians, saying, “Teacher, we know that you are honest, and teach the way of God in truth, no matter whom you teach; for you aren’t partial to anyone.
Et ils lui envoyèrent quelques-uns de leurs disciples, avec des Hérodiens, lui dire: " Maître, nous savons que vous êtes vrai, et que vous enseignez la voie de Dieu dans la vérité, sans souci de personne; car vous ne regardez pas à l'apparence des hommes.
17 Tell us therefore, what do you think? Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?”
Dites-nous donc ce qu'il vous semble: Est-il permis, ou non, de payer le tribut à César? "
18 But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, “Why do you test me, you hypocrites?
Jésus, connaissant leur malice, leur dit: " Hypocrites, pourquoi me tentez-vous?
19 Show me the tax money.” They brought to him a denarius.
Montrez-moi la monnaie du tribut. " Ils lui présentèrent un denier.
20 He asked them, “Whose is this image and inscription?”
Et Jésus leur dit: " De qui est cette image et cette inscription?
21 They said to him, “Caesar’s.” Then he said to them, “Give therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”
— De César, " lui dirent-ils. Alors Jésus leur répondit: " Rendez donc à César ce qui est à César, et à Dieu ce qui est à Dieu. "
22 When they heard it, they marveled, and left him and went away.
Cette réponse les remplit d'admiration, et, le quittant, ils s'en allèrent.
23 On that day Sadducees (those who say that there is no resurrection) came to him. They asked him,
Le même jour, des Sadducéens, qui nient la résurrection, vinrent à lui et lui proposèrent cette question:
24 saying, “Teacher, Moses said, ‘If a man dies, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife and raise up offspring for his brother.’
" Maître, Moïse a dit: Si un homme meurt sans laisser d'enfant, que son frère épouse sa femme et suscite des enfants à son frère.
25 Now there were with us seven brothers. The first married and died, and having no offspring left his wife to his brother.
Or, il y avait parmi nous sept frères; le premier prit une femme et mourut, et comme il n'avait pas d'enfant, il laissa sa femme à son frère.
26 In the same way, the second also, and the third, to the seventh.
La même chose arriva au second, puis au troisième, jusqu'au septième.
27 After them all, the woman died.
Après eux tous, la femme aussi mourut.
28 In the resurrection therefore, whose wife will she be of the seven? For they all had her.”
Au temps de la résurrection, duquel des sept frères sera-t-elle la femme? Car tous l'ont eue? "
29 But Jesus answered them, “You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God.
Jésus leur répondit: " Vous êtes dans l'erreur, ne comprenant ni les Ecritures, ni la puissance de Dieu.
30 For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like God’s angels in heaven.
Car, à la résurrection, les hommes n'ont point de femmes, ni les femmes de maris; mais ils sont comme les anges de Dieu dans le ciel.
31 But concerning the resurrection of the dead, haven’t you read that which was spoken to you by God, saying,
Quant à la résurrection des morts, n'avez-vous pas lu ce que Dieu vous a dit, en ces termes:
32 ‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.”
Je suis le Dieu d'Abraham, le Dieu d'Isaac, et le Dieu de Jacob? Or Dieu n'est pas le Dieu des morts, mais des vivants. "
33 When the multitudes heard it, they were astonished at his teaching.
Et le peuple, en l'écoutant, était rempli d'admiration pour sa doctrine.
34 But the Pharisees, when they heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, gathered themselves together.
Les Pharisiens ayant appris que Jésus avait réduit au silence les Sadducéens, s'assemblèrent.
35 One of them, a lawyer, asked him a question, testing him.
Et l'un d'eux, docteur de la loi, lui demanda pour le tenter:
36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?”
" Maître, quel est le plus grand commandement de la Loi? "
37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’
Jésus lui dit: " Tu aimeras le Seigneur ton Dieu de tout ton cœur, de toute ton âme et de tout ton esprit.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
C'est là le plus grand et le premier commandement.
39 A second likewise is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’
Le second lui est semblable: Tu aimeras ton prochain comme toi-même.
40 The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments.”
A ces deux commandements se rattachent toute la Loi, et les Prophètes. "
41 Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them a question,
Les Pharisiens étant assemblés, Jésus leur fit cette question:
42 saying, “What do you think of the Christ? Whose son is he?” They said to him, “Of David.”
" Que vous semble du Christ? De qui est-il fils? " Ils lui répondirent: " De David. " —
43 He said to them, “How then does David in the Spirit call him Lord, saying,
" Comment donc, leur dit-il, David inspiré d'en haut l'appelle-t-il Seigneur, en disant:
44 ‘The Lord said to my Lord, sit on my right hand, until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet’?
Le Seigneur a dit à mon Seigneur: Assieds-toi à ma droite, jusqu'à ce que je fasse de tes ennemis l'escabeau de tes pieds?
45 “If then David calls him Lord, how is he his son?”
Si donc David l'appelle Seigneur, comment est-il son fils? "
46 No one was able to answer him a word, neither did any man dare ask him any more questions from that day forward.
Nul ne pouvait rien lui répondre, et, depuis ce jour, personne n'osa plus l'interroger.
