Matthew 2
1 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of King Herod, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying,
Quando Jesus nasceu em Belém da Judéia, nos dias do rei Herodes, eis que os sábios do Oriente vieram a Jerusalém, dizendo:
2 “Where is he who is born King of the Jews? For we saw his star in the east, and have come to worship him.”
“Onde está aquele que nasceu rei dos judeus? Pois vimos sua estrela no oriente, e viemos adorá-lo”.
3 When King Herod heard it, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.
Quando o rei Herodes ouviu isso, ficou perturbado, e toda Jerusalém com ele.
4 Gathering together all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he asked them where the Christ would be born.
Reunindo todos os principais sacerdotes e escribas do povo, ele lhes perguntou onde o Cristo nasceria.
5 They said to him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for this is written through the prophet,
Eles lhe disseram: “Em Belém da Judéia, pois isto está escrito através do profeta,
6 ‘You Bethlehem, land of Judah, are in no way least among the princes of Judah; for out of you shall come a governor who shall shepherd my people, Israel.’”
'You Bethlehem, terra de Judá, não estão de forma alguma entre os príncipes de Judá; pois de vocês sairá um governador que pastoreará meu povo, Israel”.
7 Then Herod secretly called the wise men, and learned from them exactly what time the star appeared.
Então Herodes chamou secretamente os sábios, e aprendeu com eles exatamente a que horas a estrela apareceu.
8 He sent them to Bethlehem, and said, “Go and search diligently for the young child. When you have found him, bring me word, so that I also may come and worship him.”
Ele os enviou a Belém, e disse: “Ide e procurem diligentemente a criança pequena”. Quando o tiverem encontrado, tragam-me notícias, para que eu também possa vir e adorá-lo”.
9 They, having heard the king, went their way; and behold, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them until it came and stood over where the young child was.
Eles, tendo ouvido o rei, seguiram o seu caminho; e eis que a estrela, que eles viram no leste, foi adiante deles até chegar e ficou em pé onde estava a criança pequena.
10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy.
Quando viram a estrela, regozijaram-se com uma alegria muito grande.
11 They came into the house and saw the young child with Mary, his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Opening their treasures, they offered to him gifts: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
Entraram na casa e viram o menino com Maria, sua mãe, e se prostraram e o adoraram. Abrindo seus tesouros, ofereceram a ele presentes: ouro, incenso e mirra.
12 Being warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they went back to their own country another way.
Being avisados em um sonho para não voltar a Herodes, voltaram para seu próprio país de outra forma.
13 Now when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, “Arise and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and stay there until I tell you, for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.”
Agora que partiram, eis que um anjo do Senhor apareceu a José em um sonho, dizendo: “Levanta-te e leva a criança pequena e sua mãe, e foge para o Egito, e fica lá até que eu te diga, pois Herodes procurará a criança pequena para destruí-lo”.
14 He arose and took the young child and his mother by night and departed into Egypt,
Ele se levantou e levou a criança e sua mãe à noite e partiu para o Egito,
15 and was there until the death of Herod, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying, “Out of Egypt I called my son.”
e esteve lá até a morte de Herodes, para que se cumprisse o que foi dito pelo Senhor através do profeta, dizendo: “Fora do Egito chamei meu filho”.
16 Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked by the wise men, was exceedingly angry, and sent out and killed all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all the surrounding countryside, from two years old and under, according to the exact time which he had learned from the wise men.
Então Herodes, quando viu que era ridicularizado pelos sábios, ficou extremamente zangado, e enviou e matou todas as crianças do sexo masculino que estavam em Belém e em toda a região rural, a partir dos dois anos de idade e abaixo, de acordo com o tempo exato que tinha aprendido com os sábios.
17 Then that which was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled, saying,
Então o que foi dito por Jeremias, o profeta, foi cumprido, dizendo,
18 “A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children; she wouldn’t be comforted, because they are no more.”
“Uma voz foi ouvida em Ramah, lamentação, choro e grande luto, Raquel chorando por seus filhos; ela não se sentiria confortada, porque eles não são mais”.
19 But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, saying,
Mas quando Herodes estava morto, eis que um anjo do Senhor apareceu num sonho a José no Egito, dizendo:
20 “Arise and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel, for those who sought the young child’s life are dead.”
“Levanta-te e leva a criança e sua mãe, e vai para a terra de Israel, pois aqueles que procuravam a vida da criança estão mortos”.
21 He arose and took the young child and his mother, and came into the land of Israel.
Ele se levantou e levou a criança e sua mãe, e veio para a terra de Israel.
22 But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning over Judea in the place of his father, Herod, he was afraid to go there. Being warned in a dream, he withdrew into the region of Galilee,
Mas quando soube que Arquelau reinava sobre a Judéia no lugar de seu pai, Herodes, ele teve medo de ir para lá. Avisado em um sonho, ele se retirou para a região da Galiléia,
23 and came and lived in a city called Nazareth; that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophets that he will be called a Nazarene.
e veio e viveu em uma cidade chamada Nazaré; para que se cumprisse o que foi dito através dos profetas de que ele seria chamado de nazareno.
