Matthew 15
1 Then Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem, saying,
১তখন যিরুশালেম থেকে কয়েকজন ফরীশীরা ও ব্যবস্থার শিক্ষকরা যীশুর কাছে এসে বললেন,
2 “Why do your disciples disobey the tradition of the elders? For they don’t wash their hands when they eat bread.”
২আপনার শিষ্যরা কি জন্য প্রাচীন পূর্বপুরুষদের নিয়ম কানুন পালন করে না? কারণ খাওয়ার দিনের তারা হাত ধোয় না।
3 He answered them, “Why do you also disobey the commandment of God because of your tradition?
৩তিনি এর উত্তরে তাদের বললেন, “তোমরাও তোমাদের পরম্পরাগত নিয়ম কানুনের জন্য ঈশ্বরের আদেশ অবজ্ঞা কর কেন?”
4 For God commanded, ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and, ‘He who speaks evil of father or mother, let him be put to death.’
৪কারণ ঈশ্বর আদেশ করলেন, “তুমি তোমার বাবাকে ও মাকে সম্মান করবে, আর যে কেউ বাবার কি মায়ের নিন্দা করে, তার মৃত্যুদণ্ড অবশ্যই হবে।”
5 But you say, ‘Whoever may tell his father or his mother, “Whatever help you might otherwise have gotten from me is a gift devoted to God,”
৫কিন্তু তোমরা বলে থাক, যে ব্যক্তি বাবাকে কি মাকে বলে, “আমি যা কিছু দিয়ে তোমার উপকার করতে পারতাম, তা ঈশ্বরকে উত্সর্গ করা হয়েছে,”
6 he shall not honor his father or mother.’ You have made the commandment of God void because of your tradition.
৬সেই ব্যক্তির বাবাকে বা তার মাকে আর সম্মান করার দরকার নেই, এই ভাবে তোমরা নিজেদের পরম্পরাগত নিয়ম কানুনের জন্য ঈশ্বরের বাক্যকে অগ্রাহ্য করছ।
7 You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying,
৭ভণ্ডরা, যিশাইয় ভাববাদী তোমাদের বিষয়ে একদম ঠিক কথা বলেছেন,
8 ‘These people draw near to me with their mouth, and honor me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
৮“এই লোকেরা শুধুই মুখে আমার সম্মান করে, কিন্তু এদের হৃদয় আমার থেকে দূরে থাকে
9 And they worship me in vain, teaching as doctrine rules made by men.’”
৯আর এরা বৃথাই আমার আরাধনা করে এবং মানুষের বানানো নিয়মকে প্রকৃত নিয়ম বলে শিক্ষা দেয়।”
10 He summoned the multitude, and said to them, “Hear, and understand.
১০পরে তিনি লোকদেরকে কাছে ডেকে বললেন, “তোমরা শোনো ও বোঝ।
11 That which enters into the mouth doesn’t defile the man; but that which proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man.”
১১মুখের ভেতরে যা কিছু যায়, তা যে মানুষকে অপবিত্র করে, এমন নয়, কিন্তু মুখ থেকে যা বের হয়, সে সব মানুষকে অপবিত্র করে।”
12 Then the disciples came and said to him, “Do you know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?”
১২তখন শিষ্যরা কাছে এসে তাঁকে বললেন, “আপনি কি জানেন, এই কথা শুনে ফরীশীরা আঘাত পেয়েছে?”
13 But he answered, “Every plant which my heavenly Father didn’t plant will be uprooted.
১৩তিনি এর উত্তরে বললেন, “আমার স্বর্গীয় পিতা যে সমস্ত চারা রোপণ করেননি, সে সমস্তই উপড়িয়ে ফেলা হবে।”
14 Leave them alone. They are blind guides of the blind. If the blind guide the blind, both will fall into a pit.”
১৪ওদের কথা বাদ দাও, ওরা নিজেরা অন্ধ হয়ে অন্য অন্ধদের পথ দেখায়, অন্ধ যদি অন্ধকে পথ দেখায় তবে দুজনেই গর্তে পড়বে।
15 Peter answered him, “Explain the parable to us.”
১৫পিতর তাঁকে বললেন, “এই গল্পের অর্থ আমাদেরকে বুঝিয়ে দিন।”
16 So Jesus said, “Do you also still not understand?
১৬তিনি বললেন, “তোমরাও কি এখনও বুঝতে পার না?
17 Don’t you understand that whatever goes into the mouth passes into the belly and then out of the body?
১৭এটা কি বোঝ না যে, যা কিছু মুখের ভিতরে যায়, তা পেটের মধ্যে যায়, পরে শরীর থেকে বেরিয়ে যায়?
18 But the things which proceed out of the mouth come out of the heart, and they defile the man.
১৮কিন্তু যা যা মুখ থেকে বের হয়, তা হৃদয় থেকে আসে, আর সেগুলোই মানুষকে অপবিত্র করে।”
19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, sexual sins, thefts, false testimony, and blasphemies.
১৯কারণ হৃদয় থেকে কুচিন্তা, নরহত্যা, ব্যভিচার, বেশ্যাগমন, চুরি, মিথ্যাসাক্ষ্য, ঈশ্বরনিন্দা বের হয়ে আসে।
20 These are the things which defile the man; but to eat with unwashed hands doesn’t defile the man.”
২০এই সমস্তই মানুষকে অপবিত্র করে, কিন্তু হাত না ধুয়ে খাবার খেলে মানুষ তাতে অপবিত্র হয় না।
21 Jesus went out from there and withdrew into the region of Tyre and Sidon.
২১পরে যীশু সেই জায়গা ছেড়ে সোর ও সীদোন অঞ্চলে গেলেন।
22 Behold, a Canaanite woman came out from those borders and cried, saying, “Have mercy on me, Lord, you son of David! My daughter is severely possessed by a demon!”
২২আর দেখ, ঐ অঞ্চলের একটি কনানীয় মহিলা এসে চিত্কার করে বলতে লাগল, হে প্রভু, দায়ূদ-সন্তান, আমাকে দয়া করুন, আমার মেয়েটি ভূতগ্রস্ত হয়ে অত্যন্ত কষ্ট পাচ্ছে।
23 But he answered her not a word. His disciples came and begged him, saying, “Send her away; for she cries after us.”
২৩কিন্তু তিনি তাকে কিছুই উত্তর দিলেন না। তখন তাঁর শিষ্যেরা কাছে এসে তাঁকে অনুরোধ করলেন, একে বিদায় করুন, কারণ এ আমাদের পিছন পিছন চিত্কার করছে।
24 But he answered, “I wasn’t sent to anyone but the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”
২৪তিনি এর উত্তরে বললেন, “ইস্রায়েলের হারান মেষ ছাড়া আর কারও কাছে আমাকে পাঠানো হয়নি।”
25 But she came and worshiped him, saying, “Lord, help me.”
২৫কিন্তু মহিলাটি এসে তাঁকে প্রণাম করে বলল, “প্রভু, আমার উপকার করুন।”
26 But he answered, “It is not appropriate to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.”
২৬তিনি বললেন, “সন্তানদের খাবার নিয়ে কুকুরদের কাছে ফেলে দেওয়া উচিত নয়।”
27 But she said, “Yes, Lord, but even the dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.”
২৭তাতে সে বলল, “হ্যাঁ, প্রভু, কারণ কুকুরেরাও তাদের মালিকের টেবিলের নিচে পড়ে থাকা সন্তানদের সেই সব খাবারের গুঁড়াগাঁড়া তারা খায়।”
28 Then Jesus answered her, “Woman, great is your faith! Be it done to you even as you desire.” And her daughter was healed from that hour.
২৮তখন যীশু এর উত্তরে তাকে বললেন, “হে নারী, তোমার বড়ই বিশ্বাস, তোমার যেমন ইচ্ছা, তেমনি তোমার প্রতি হোক।” আর সেই মুহূর্তেই তার মেয়ে সুস্থ হল।
29 Jesus departed from there and came near to the sea of Galilee; and he went up on the mountain and sat there.
২৯পরে যীশু সেখান থেকে গালীল সমুদ্রের ধারে উপস্থিত হলেন এবং পাহাড়ে উঠে সেই জায়গায় বসলেন।
30 Great multitudes came to him, having with them the lame, blind, mute, maimed, and many others, and they put them down at his feet. He healed them,
৩০আর অনেক লোক তাঁর কাছে আসতে লাগল, তারা তাদের সঙ্গে খোঁড়া, অন্ধ, বোবা, নুলা এবং আরও অনেক লোককে নিয়ে তাঁর পায়ের কাছে ফেলে রাখল, আর তিনি তাদের সুস্থ করলেন।
31 so that the multitude wondered when they saw the mute speaking, the injured healed, the lame walking, and the blind seeing—and they glorified the God of Israel.
৩১আর এই ভাবে বোবারা কথা বলছিল, নুলারা সুস্থ হচ্ছিল, খোঁড়ারা হাঁটতে পারছিল এবং অন্ধেরা দেখতে পাচ্ছিল, তখন তারা এই সব দেখে খুবই আশ্চর্য্য হল এবং ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বরের গৌরব করল।
32 Jesus summoned his disciples and said, “I have compassion on the multitude, because they have continued with me now three days and have nothing to eat. I don’t want to send them away fasting, or they might faint on the way.”
৩২তখন যীশু তাঁর শিষ্যদের কাছে ডেকে বললেন, “এই লোকদের জন্য আমার করুণা হচ্ছে, কারণ এরা আজ তিন দিন আমার সঙ্গে আছে এবং এদের কাছে খাবার কিছুই নেই, আর আমি এদেরকে না খাইয়ে বাড়িতে পাঠিয়ে দিতে চাই না, কারণ এরা রাস্তায় দুর্বল হয়ে পড়বে।”
33 The disciples said to him, “Where could we get so many loaves in a deserted place as to satisfy so great a multitude?”
৩৩তাঁর শিষ্যেরা উত্তর দিয়ে বললেন, “এই নির্জন জায়গায় আমরা কোথা থেকে এত রুটি পাবো এবং এত লোককে কিভাবে তৃপ্ত করব?”
34 Jesus said to them, “How many loaves do you have?” They said, “Seven, and a few small fish.”
৩৪যীশু তাঁদের বললেন, “তোমাদের কাছে কতগুলি রুটি আছে?” তাঁরা বললেন, “সাতখানা, আর কয়েকটি ছোট মাছ আছে।”
35 He commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground;
৩৫তখন তিনি লোকদেরকে জমিতে বসতে নির্দেশ দিলেন।
36 and he took the seven loaves and the fish. He gave thanks and broke them, and gave to the disciples, and the disciples to the multitudes.
৩৬পরে তিনি সেই সাতখানা রুটি ও সেই কয়েকটি মাছ নিলেন, ধন্যবাদ দিয়ে ভাঙলেন এবং শিষ্যদের দিলেন, শিষ্যেরা লোকদেরকে দিলেন।
37 They all ate and were filled. They took up seven baskets full of the broken pieces that were left over.
৩৭তখন লোকেরা পেট ভরে খেল এবং সন্তুষ্ট হলো; পরে শিষ্যরা পড়ে থাকা অবশিষ্ট গুঁড়াগাঁড়া জড়ো করে পুরোপুরি সাত ঝুড়ি ভর্তি করে তুলে নিলেন।
38 Those who ate were four thousand men, in addition to women and children.
৩৮যারা খাবার খেয়েছিল, তাদের মধ্যে মহিলা ও শিশু বাদে, শুধু পুরুষের সংখ্যাই ছিল চার হাজার।
39 Then he sent away the multitudes, got into the boat, and came into the borders of Magdala.
৩৯পরে যীশু লোকদেরকে বিদায় করে, তিনি নৌকা উঠে মগদনের সীমাতে উপস্থিত হলেন।
