Matthew 12
1 At that time, Jesus went on the Sabbath day through the grain fields. His disciples were hungry and began to pluck heads of grain and to eat.
૧તે વેળાએ ઈસુ વિશ્રામવારે અનાજના ખેતરોમાં થઈને જતા હતા, ત્યારે તેમના શિષ્યોને ભૂખ લાગી, તેઓ કણસલાં તોડવા તથા ખાવા લાગ્યા.
2 But the Pharisees, when they saw it, said to him, “Behold, your disciples do what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath.”
૨ફરોશીઓએ તે જોઈને ઈસુને કહ્યું કે, “જો, વિશ્રામવારે જે કરવું ઉચિત નથી તે તમારા શિષ્યો કરે છે.”
3 But he said to them, “Haven’t you read what David did when he was hungry, and those who were with him:
૩પણ ઈસુએ તેઓને કહ્યું કે, “જયારે દાઉદ તથા તેના સાથીઓ ભૂખ્યા હતા, ત્યારે તેણે જે કર્યું તે શું તમે વાંચ્યું નથી?
4 how he entered into God’s house and ate the show bread, which was not lawful for him to eat, nor for those who were with him, but only for the priests?
૪તેણે ઈશ્વરના ઘરમાં પેસીને અર્પણ કરેલી રોટલી, જે તેને તથા તેના સાથીઓને ખાવી ઉચિત ન હતી, પણ એકલા યાજકોને ઉચિત હતી, તે તેણે ખાધી.
5 Or have you not read in the law that on the Sabbath day the priests in the temple profane the Sabbath and are guiltless?
૫અથવા શું નિયમશાસ્ત્રમાં તમે એ નથી વાંચ્યું કે, વિશ્રામવારે ભક્તિસ્થાનમાં યાજકોએ વિશ્રામવારને અપવિત્ર કર્યા છતાં પણ નિર્દોષ છે?
6 But I tell you that one greater than the temple is here.
૬પણ હું તમને કહું છું કે ભક્તિસ્થાન કરતાં અહીં એક મોટો છે.
7 But if you had known what this means, ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,’ you wouldn’t have condemned the guiltless.
૭વળી ‘બલિદાન કરતાં હું દયા ચાહું છું,’ એનો અર્થ જો તમે જાણતા હોત તો નિર્દોષને તમે દોષિત ન ઠરાવત.
8 For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.”
૮કેમ કે માણસનો દીકરો વિશ્રામવારનો પ્રભુ છે.”
9 He departed from there and went into their synagogue.
૯ઈસુ ત્યાંથી નીકળીને તેઓના સભાસ્થાનમાં આવ્યા.
10 And behold, there was a man with a withered hand. They asked him, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath day?” so that they might accuse him.
૧૦ત્યારે જુઓ, ત્યાં એક માણસ હતો, જેનો હાથ સુકાઈ ગયેલો હતો. ઈસુ પર દોષ મૂકવા સારુ ફરોશીઓએ તેમને પૂછ્યું કે, “શું વિશ્રામવારે સાજું કરવું ઉચિત છે?”
11 He said to them, “What man is there among you who has one sheep, and if this one falls into a pit on the Sabbath day, won’t he grab on to it and lift it out?
૧૧ત્યારે તેમણે તેઓને કહ્યું કે, “તમારામાં કયો માણસ એવો છે કે, જેને એક ઘેટું હોય, અને વિશ્રામવારે જો તે ખાડામાં પડે તો તેને પકડીને બહાર નહિ કાઢે?
12 Of how much more value then is a man than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath day.”
૧૨તો માણસ ઘેટાં કરતાં કેટલું મૂલ્યવાન છે! એ માટે વિશ્રામવારે સારું કરવું ઉચિત છે.”
13 Then he told the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out; and it was restored whole, just like the other.
૧૩ત્યારે પેલા માણસને ઈસુએ કહ્યું કે, “તારો હાથ લાંબો કર.” તેણે તે લાંબો કર્યો, તરત તેનો હાથ બીજા હાથનાં જેવો સાજો થયો.
14 But the Pharisees went out and conspired against him, how they might destroy him.
૧૪ત્યારે ફરોશીઓએ નીકળીને તેમને મારી નાખવાને માટે તેમની વિરુદ્ધ મસલત કરી.
15 Jesus, perceiving that, withdrew from there. Great multitudes followed him; and he healed them all,
૧૫પણ ઈસુ એ જાણીને ત્યાંથી નીકળી ગયા. ઘણાં લોકો તેમની પાછળ ગયા, અને તેમણે બધાને સાજાં કર્યા.
16 and commanded them that they should not make him known,
૧૬તેઓને કડક આજ્ઞા આપી કે, ‘તમારે મને પ્રગટ કરવો નહિ’,
17 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying,
૧૭એ માટે કે પ્રબોધક યશાયાએ જે કહ્યું હતું તે પૂરું થાય કે,
18 “Behold, my servant whom I have chosen, my beloved in whom my soul is well pleased. I will put my Spirit on him. He will proclaim justice to the nations.
૧૮“જુઓ, મારો સેવક, જેને મેં પસંદ કર્યો; મારો પ્રિય, જેનાં પર મારો જીવ પ્રસન્ન છે. તેના પર હું મારો આત્મા મૂકીશ, અને તે બધી જ જાતિઓનો ન્યાયચુકાદો પ્રગટ કરશે.
19 He will not strive, nor shout, neither will anyone hear his voice in the streets.
૧૯તે ઝઘડો નહિ કરશે, બૂમ નહિ પાડશે; તેની વાણી રસ્તાઓમાં કોઈ નહિ સાંભળશે.
20 He won’t break a bruised reed. He won’t quench a smoking flax, until he leads justice to victory.
૨૦જ્યાં સુધી ન્યાયચુકાદાને તે જયમાં નહિ પહોંચાડે, ત્યાં સુધી છૂંદેલું બરુ તે ભાંગી નહિ નાખશે, ધુમાતું શણ પણ તે નહિ હોલવશે.
21 In his name, the nations will hope.”
૨૧બધા જ દેશના લોકો તેમના નામ પર આશા રાખશે.”
22 Then one possessed by a demon, blind and mute, was brought to him; and he healed him, so that the blind and mute man both spoke and saw.
૨૨ત્યારે દુષ્ટાત્મા વળગેલાં કોઈ અંધ અને મૂંગા માણસને તેઓ તેમની પાસે લાવ્યા; તેમણે તેને સાજો કર્યો, એટલે જે અંધ તથા મૂંગો હતો તે બોલવા અને જોવા લાગ્યો.
23 All the multitudes were amazed, and said, “Can this be the son of David?”
૨૩સર્વ લોકોએ આશ્ચર્ય પામીને કહ્યું કે, “શું આ દાઉદનો દીકરો હોઈ શકે?”
24 But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, “This man does not cast out demons except by Beelzebul, the prince of the demons.”
૨૪પણ ફરોશીઓએ તે સાંભળીને કહ્યું કે, “દુષ્ટાત્માના સરદાર બાલઝબૂલની મદદથી જ તે દુષ્ટાત્માઓને કાઢે છે.”
25 Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand.
૨૫ત્યારે ઈસુએ તેઓનો વિચાર જાણીને તેઓને કહ્યું કે, “દરેક રાજ્ય જે ભાગલા પાડે, તે તૂટી પડે છે; તથા દરેક નગર અથવા ઘર જે ભાગલા પાડે, તે સ્થિર નહિ રહેશે.
26 If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand?
૨૬જો શેતાન શેતાનને કાઢે તો તે પોતે પોતાની સામે થયો; તો પછી તેનું રાજ્ય શી રીતે સ્થિર રહેશે?
27 If I by Beelzebul cast out demons, by whom do your children cast them out? Therefore they will be your judges.
૨૭જો હું બાલઝબૂલની મદદથી દુષ્ટાત્માઓને કાઢું છું, તો તમારા લોકો કોની મદદથી કાઢે છે? માટે તેઓ તમારા ન્યાયાધીશો થશે.
28 But if I by the Spirit of God cast out demons, then God’s Kingdom has come upon you.
૨૮પણ જો હું ઈશ્વરના આત્માથી દુષ્ટાત્માઓને કાઢું છું, તો ઈશ્વરનું રાજ્ય તમારી પાસે આવ્યું છે એમ સમજો.
29 Or how can one enter into the house of the strong man and plunder his goods, unless he first bind the strong man? Then he will plunder his house.
૨૯વળી બળવાનના ઘરમાં જઈને તે બળવાનને પહેલાં બાંધ્યા વિના તેનો સામાન કોઈથી કેમ લુટાય? પણ તેને બાંધ્યા પછી તે તેનું ઘર લૂંટી લેશે.
30 “He who is not with me is against me, and he who doesn’t gather with me, scatters.
૩૦જે મારા પક્ષનો નથી તે મારી વિરુદ્ધ છે, જે મારી સાથે સંગ્રહ નથી કરતો, તે વિખેરી નાખે છે.
31 Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men.
૩૧એ માટે હું તમને કહું છું કે, દરેક પાપ તથા દુર્ભાષણ માણસોને માફ કરાશે; પણ પવિત્ર આત્માની વિરુદ્ધ જે દુર્ભાષણ કરે તે માણસને માફ નહિ કરાશે.
32 Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age, or in that which is to come. (aiōn g165)
૩૨માણસના દીકરા વિરુદ્ધ જે કોઈ કંઈ કહેશે, તે તેને માફ કરાશે; પણ પવિત્ર આત્માની વિરુદ્ધ જે કોઈ કંઈ કહેશે, તે તેને માફ નહિ કરાશે; આ યુગમાં પણ નહિ, અને આવનાર યુગમાં પણ નહિ. (aiōn g165)
33 “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree corrupt and its fruit corrupt; for the tree is known by its fruit.
૩૩ઝાડ સારું કરો અને તેનું ફળ સારું થશે, અથવા ઝાડ ખરાબ કરો અને તેનું ફળ ખરાબ થશે; કેમ કે ઝાડ ફળથી ઓળખાય છે.
34 You offspring of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.
૩૪ઓ ઝેરી સર્પોના વંશ, તમે દુષ્ટ છતાં સારી વાતો તમારાથી શી રીતે કહી શકાય? કેમ કે મનના ભરપૂરીપણામાંથી મોં બોલે છે.
35 The good man out of his good treasure brings out good things, and the evil man out of his evil treasure brings out evil things.
૩૫સારું માણસ મનના સારા ભંડારમાંથી સારું કાઢે છે, ખરાબ માણસ મનના ખરાબ ભંડારમાંથી ખરાબ કાઢે છે.
36 I tell you that every idle word that men speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.
૩૬વળી હું તમને કહું છું કે, માણસો જે દરેક નકામી વાત બોલશે, તે સંબંધી ન્યાયકાળે તેઓને જવાબ આપવો પડશે.
37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”
૩૭કેમ કે તારી વાતોથી તું ન્યાયી ઠરાવાશે; અને તારી વાતોથી અન્યાયી ઠરાવાશે.”
38 Then certain of the scribes and Pharisees answered, “Teacher, we want to see a sign from you.”
૩૮ત્યારે કેટલાક શાસ્ત્રીઓએ તથા ફરોશીઓએ તેમને ઉત્તર આપતાં કહ્યું કે, “ઓ ઉપદેશક, અમે તમારી પાસેથી ચમત્કારિક ચિહ્ન જોવા ચાહીએ છીએ.”
39 But he answered them, “An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, but no sign will be given to it but the sign of Jonah the prophet.
૩૯પણ ઈસુએ ઉત્તર દેતાં તેઓને કહ્યું કે, “દુષ્ટ તથા બેવફા પેઢી ચમત્કારિક ચિહ્ન માગે છે, પણ યૂના પ્રબોધકનાં ચમત્કારિક ચિહ્ન સિવાય કોઈ ચમત્કારિક ચિહ્ન તેને અપાશે નહિ.
40 For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the huge fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
૪૦કેમ કે જેમ યૂના ત્રણ રાતદિવસ મોટી માછલીના પેટમાં રહ્યો હતો, તેમ માણસનો દીકરો પણ ત્રણ રાતદિવસ પૃથ્વીના પેટાળમાં રહેશે.
41 The men of Nineveh will stand up in the judgment with this generation and will condemn it, for they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and behold, someone greater than Jonah is here.
૪૧ન્યાયકાળે નિનવેહના માણસ આ પેઢી સાથે ઊઠીને ઊભા રહેશે અને તેને અપરાધી ઠરાવશે; કેમ કે યૂનાનો ઉપદેશ સાંભળીને તેઓએ પસ્તાવો કર્યો, પણ જુઓ, યૂના કરતાં અહીં એક મોટો છે.
42 The Queen of the South will rise up in the judgment with this generation and will condemn it, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, someone greater than Solomon is here.
૪૨દક્ષિણની રાણી આ પેઢીની સાથે ન્યાયકાળે ઊઠીને એને અપરાધી ઠરાવશે; કેમ કે પૃથ્વીને છેડેથી સુલેમાનનું જ્ઞાન સાંભળવાને તે આવી; અને જુઓ, અહીં જે છે તે સુલેમાન કરતાં મહાન છે.
43 “When an unclean spirit has gone out of a man, he passes through waterless places seeking rest, and doesn’t find it.
૪૩જયારે અશુદ્ધ આત્મા માણસમાંથી નીકળે છે ત્યારે તે ઉજ્જડ જગ્યામાં વિસામો શોધતો ફરે છે, પણ નથી પામતો.
44 Then he says, ‘I will return into my house from which I came;’ and when he has come back, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order.
૪૪ત્યારે તે કહે છે કે, ‘જે ઘરમાંથી હું નીકળ્યો તેમાં જ હું પાછો જઈશ;’ અને આવીને જુએ છે ત્યારે તો ઘર વાળેલું ખાલી તથા શોભાયમાન કરેલું હોય છે.
45 Then he goes and takes with himself seven other spirits more evil than he is, and they enter in and dwell there. The last state of that man becomes worse than the first. Even so will it be also to this evil generation.”
૪૫પછી તે જઈને પોતા કરતાં વધારે દુષ્ટ એવા સાત દુષ્ટાત્માઓને પોતાની સાથે લાવે છે, અને તેઓ તેમાં પેસીને ત્યાં રહે છે, ત્યારે તે માણસની છેલ્લી અવસ્થા પહેલીના કરતાં વધારે ખરાબ થાય છે. તેમ આ દુષ્ટ પેઢીને પણ થશે.”
46 While he was yet speaking to the multitudes, behold, his mother and his brothers stood outside, seeking to speak to him.
૪૬ઈસુ લોકોને હજુ વાત કહેતાં હતા એટલામાં જુઓ, તેમની મા તથા તેમના ભાઈઓ બહાર આવીને ઊભા હતાં, અને તેમની સાથે વાત કરવા ચાહતા હતાં.
47 One said to him, “Behold, your mother and your brothers stand outside, seeking to speak to you.”
૪૭ત્યારે કોઈએ તેમને કહ્યું કે, “જુઓ, તમારી મા તથા તમારા ભાઈઓ બહાર ઊભા છે, તેઓ તમારી સાથે વાત કરવા ચાહે છે.”
48 But he answered him who spoke to him, “Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?”
૪૮પણ પેલા કહેનારને તેમણે ઉત્તર દેતાં કહ્યું કે, “મારી મા કોણ છે? અને મારા ભાઈઓ કોણ છે?”
49 He stretched out his hand toward his disciples, and said, “Behold, my mother and my brothers!
૪૯તેમણે પોતાના શિષ્યોની તરફ પોતાનો હાથ લંબાવીને કહ્યું કે, “જુઓ મારી મા તથા મારા ભાઈઓ!
50 For whoever does the will of my Father who is in heaven, he is my brother, and sister, and mother.”
૫૦કેમ કે મારા સ્વર્ગમાંના પિતાની ઇચ્છા પ્રમાણે જે કોઈ કરે, તે જ મારો ભાઈ, બહેન તથા મા છે.”
