Matthew 12
1 At that time, Jesus went on the Sabbath day through the grain fields. His disciples were hungry and began to pluck heads of grain and to eat.
En ce temps-là, Jésus passa par des champs de blé un jour de sabbat; et ses disciples, ayant faim, se mirent à arracher des épis et à les manger.
2 But the Pharisees, when they saw it, said to him, “Behold, your disciples do what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath.”
Les pharisiens, voyant cela, lui dirent: Voilà tes disciples qui font ce qu'il n'est pas permis de faire le jour du sabbat.
3 But he said to them, “Haven’t you read what David did when he was hungry, and those who were with him:
Il leur répondit: N'avez-vous pas lu ce que fit David, lorsqu'il eut faim, lui et ceux qui étaient avec lui;
4 how he entered into God’s house and ate the show bread, which was not lawful for him to eat, nor for those who were with him, but only for the priests?
comment il entra dans la maison de Dieu et mangea les pains de proposition qu'il n'était pas permis de manger, ni à lui, ni à ceux qui étaient avec lui, mais aux seuls sacrificateurs?
5 Or have you not read in the law that on the Sabbath day the priests in the temple profane the Sabbath and are guiltless?
Ou bien n'avez-vous pas lu dans la loi que les sacrificateurs, le jour du sabbat, violent le sabbat dans le temple, sans être coupables?
6 But I tell you that one greater than the temple is here.
Or, je vous le dis, il y a ici plus que le temple!
7 But if you had known what this means, ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,’ you wouldn’t have condemned the guiltless.
Si vous saviez ce que signifie cette parole: «Je veux la miséricorde et non le sacrifice». — vous n'auriez pas condamné des innocents;
8 For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.”
car le Fils de l'homme est maître du sabbat.
9 He departed from there and went into their synagogue.
Étant parti de là, il entra dans la synagogue.
10 And behold, there was a man with a withered hand. They asked him, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath day?” so that they might accuse him.
Il s'y trouvait un homme qui avait une main desséchée, et ils demandèrent à Jésus: Est-il permis de guérir le jour du sabbat? C'était afin de pouvoir l'accuser.
11 He said to them, “What man is there among you who has one sheep, and if this one falls into a pit on the Sabbath day, won’t he grab on to it and lift it out?
Mais il leur répondit: Quel est celui d'entre vous, qui, ayant une brebis, si elle tombe dans une fosse le jour du sabbat, ne la prenne et ne l'en retire?
12 Of how much more value then is a man than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath day.”
Or, combien un homme ne vaut-il pas mieux qu'une brebis! Il est donc permis de faire du bien le jour du sabbat.
13 Then he told the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out; and it was restored whole, just like the other.
Alors il dit à cet homme: Étends ta main. Il l'étendit; et elle redevint saine comme l'autre.
14 But the Pharisees went out and conspired against him, how they might destroy him.
Les pharisiens, étant sortis, tinrent conseil contre lui pour le faire périr.
15 Jesus, perceiving that, withdrew from there. Great multitudes followed him; and he healed them all,
Mais Jésus, l'ayant su, partit de là; plusieurs le suivirent, et il les guérit tous.
16 and commanded them that they should not make him known,
Puis il leur défendit expressément de le faire connaître.
17 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying,
Ainsi fut accompli ce qui avait été prédit par Ésaïe, le prophète:
18 “Behold, my servant whom I have chosen, my beloved in whom my soul is well pleased. I will put my Spirit on him. He will proclaim justice to the nations.
«Voici mon serviteur que j'ai élu, mon bien-aimé en qui mon âme a mis toute son affection. Je ferai reposer mon Esprit sur lui, et il annoncera le jugement aux nations.
19 He will not strive, nor shout, neither will anyone hear his voice in the streets.
Il ne contestera pas et ne criera point; on n'entendra pas sa voix dans les places publiques.
20 He won’t break a bruised reed. He won’t quench a smoking flax, until he leads justice to victory.
Il ne brisera pas le roseau froissé, et il n'étouffera pas le lumignon qui va s'éteindre, jusqu'à ce qu'il ait fait triompher la justice;
21 In his name, the nations will hope.”
et les nations espéreront en son nom.»
22 Then one possessed by a demon, blind and mute, was brought to him; and he healed him, so that the blind and mute man both spoke and saw.
Alors on présenta à Jésus un démoniaque aveugle et muet; il le guérit, de sorte que le muet parlait et voyait.
23 All the multitudes were amazed, and said, “Can this be the son of David?”
La foule en fut étonnée, et l'on disait: N'est-ce point là le Fils de David?
24 But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, “This man does not cast out demons except by Beelzebul, the prince of the demons.”
Mais les pharisiens, entendant cela, dirent: Cet homme ne chasse les démons que par Béelzébul, le prince des démons!
25 Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand.
Jésus, connaissant leurs pensées, leur dit: Tout royaume divisé contre lui-même sera réduit en désert; et toute ville ou toute maison divisée contre elle-même ne pourra subsister.
26 If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand?
Si Satan chasse Satan, il est divisé contre lui-même; comment donc son royaume subsistera-t-il?
27 If I by Beelzebul cast out demons, by whom do your children cast them out? Therefore they will be your judges.
Et si je chasse les démons par Béelzébul, — vos fils, par qui les chassent-ils? C'est pourquoi, ils seront eux-mêmes vos juges!
28 But if I by the Spirit of God cast out demons, then God’s Kingdom has come upon you.
Mais si je chasse les démons par l'Esprit de Dieu, le royaume de Dieu est donc venu jusqu'à vous.
29 Or how can one enter into the house of the strong man and plunder his goods, unless he first bind the strong man? Then he will plunder his house.
Ou bien, comment quelqu'un peut-il entrer dans la maison de l'homme fort et ravir ses biens, s'il n'a auparavant lié cet homme fort? Après cela, il pourra piller sa maison.
30 “He who is not with me is against me, and he who doesn’t gather with me, scatters.
Celui qui n'est pas avec moi est contre moi, et celui qui n'amasse pas avec moi disperse.
31 Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men.
C'est pourquoi, je vous le dis, tout péché, tout blasphème sera pardonné aux hommes; mais le blasphème contre l'Esprit ne sera point pardonné.
32 Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age, or in that which is to come. (aiōn g165)
Et si quelqu'un parle contre le Fils de l'homme, il lui sera pardonné; mais si quelqu'un parle contre le Saint-Esprit, il ne lui sera pardonné, ni dans ce monde, ni dans le monde à venir. (aiōn g165)
33 “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree corrupt and its fruit corrupt; for the tree is known by its fruit.
Ou dites que l'arbre est bon et que son fruit est bon, ou dites que l'arbre est mauvais et que son fruit est mauvais; car on connaît l'arbre à son fruit.
34 You offspring of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.
Race de vipères, comment pourriez-vous, étant méchants, dire de bonnes choses? Car c'est de l'abondance du coeur que la bouche parle.
35 The good man out of his good treasure brings out good things, and the evil man out of his evil treasure brings out evil things.
L'homme de bien tire de bonnes choses de son bon trésor; mais le méchant tire de mauvaises choses de son mauvais trésor.
36 I tell you that every idle word that men speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.
Je vous le déclare, les hommes rendront compte, au jour du jugement, de toute parole vaine qu'ils auront dite.
37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”
Car par tes paroles tu seras justifié, et par tes paroles tu seras condamné.
38 Then certain of the scribes and Pharisees answered, “Teacher, we want to see a sign from you.”
Alors quelques-uns des scribes et des pharisiens lui dirent: Maître, nous voudrions te voir faire un miracle.
39 But he answered them, “An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, but no sign will be given to it but the sign of Jonah the prophet.
Il leur répondit: Cette génération méchante et adultère demande un miracle; mais il ne lui en sera pas donné d'autre que celui du prophète Jonas.
40 For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the huge fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
Car, de même que Jonas fut dans le ventre du grand poisson trois jours et trois nuits, ainsi le Fils de l'homme sera dans le sein de la terre trois jours et trois nuits.
41 The men of Nineveh will stand up in the judgment with this generation and will condemn it, for they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and behold, someone greater than Jonah is here.
Les Ninivites se lèveront, au jour du jugement, avec cette génération, et ils la condamneront, parce qu'ils se repentirent à la prédication de Jonas. Or, voici: Il y a ici plus que Jonas!
42 The Queen of the South will rise up in the judgment with this generation and will condemn it, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, someone greater than Solomon is here.
La reine du Midi se lèvera, au jour du jugement, avec cette génération, et elle la condamnera, parce qu'elle vint des extrémités de la terre pour entendre la sagesse de Salomon. Or, voici: Il y a ici plus que Salomon!
43 “When an unclean spirit has gone out of a man, he passes through waterless places seeking rest, and doesn’t find it.
Lorsque l'esprit impur est sorti d'un homme, il va par les lieux arides, cherchant, du repos, et il n'en trouve point.
44 Then he says, ‘I will return into my house from which I came;’ and when he has come back, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order.
Alors, il dit: Je retournerai dans ma maison, d'où je suis sorti. Et quand il y est revenu, il la trouve vide, balayée et ornée.
45 Then he goes and takes with himself seven other spirits more evil than he is, and they enter in and dwell there. The last state of that man becomes worse than the first. Even so will it be also to this evil generation.”
Alors il s'en va et prend avec lui sept autres esprits plus méchants que lui; ils y entrent et y demeurent, et la condition dernière de cet homme devient pire que la première. Il en sera ainsi de cette génération méchante.
46 While he was yet speaking to the multitudes, behold, his mother and his brothers stood outside, seeking to speak to him.
Comme Jésus parlait encore à la foule, sa mère et ses frères se tenaient dehors, cherchant à lui parler.
47 One said to him, “Behold, your mother and your brothers stand outside, seeking to speak to you.”
[Quelqu'un lui dit: Voici que ta mère et tes frères sont là dehors, qui cherchent à te parler].
48 But he answered him who spoke to him, “Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?”
Il répondit à celui qui lui disait cela: Qui est ma mère, et qui sont mes frères?
49 He stretched out his hand toward his disciples, and said, “Behold, my mother and my brothers!
Puis, étendant la main sur ses disciples, il dit: Voici ma mère et mes frères!
50 For whoever does the will of my Father who is in heaven, he is my brother, and sister, and mother.”
Car quiconque fait la volonté de mon Père qui est dans les cieux, celui-là est mon frère, et ma soeur, et ma mère.
