Mark 4
1 Again he began to teach by the seaside. A great multitude was gathered to him, so that he entered into a boat in the sea and sat down. All the multitude were on the land by the sea.
Anih loe tuipui taengah kaminawk patuk amtong let bae: a taengah kami paroeai angpop o pongah, anih loe palong thungah akunh moe, anghnut; pop parai kaminawk loe tuicing ah oh o.
2 He taught them many things in parables, and told them in his teaching,
Anih mah paroeai hmuen kawng to patahhaih hoiah nihcae hanah patuk, anih mah patukhaih lok hoiah nihcae khaeah,
3 “Listen! Behold, the farmer went out to sow.
tahngai oh; Khenah, aanmu haeh kami loe aanmu haeh hanah a caeh:
4 As he sowed, some seed fell by the road, and the birds came and devoured it.
aanmu to a haeh naah, thoemto loe loklam taengah krak, tavaanawk angzoh o moe, aanmu to akhui o boih.
5 Others fell on the rocky ground, where it had little soil, and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of soil.
Thoemto loe long kathah ai, kapop thlung nuiah krak; long to tampa pongah, aanmu loe akra ai ah amprawk roep:
6 When the sun had risen, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away.
toe ni to bet moe, kabae ni mah dawk naah loe, tangzun om ai pongah, azaem ving.
7 Others fell among the thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no fruit.
Thoemto aanmu loe soekhring thungah krak, soekhring kungnawk loe qoeng o tahang moe, aanmu to tacet o hmoek, to pongah athaih athai ai.
8 Others fell into the good ground and yielded fruit, growing up and increasing. Some produced thirty times, some sixty times, and some one hundred times as much.”
Kalah aanmu loe long kahoih nuiah krak, a qoeng tahang moe, kapop ah aquih to tacawt; thoemto loe qui thum, thoemto loe qui taruk, thoemto loe cumvai khoek to pung o tahang, tiah a naa.
9 He said, “Whoever has ears to hear, let him hear.”
Anih mah nihcae khaeah, Thaihaih naa tawn kami loe, thaih nasoe, tiah a naa.
10 When he was alone, those who were around him with the twelve asked him about the parables.
Anih angmah bueng oh naah, hatlai hnetto hoi a taengah kaom kaminawk mah patahhaih lok to dueng o.
11 He said to them, “To you is given the mystery of God’s Kingdom, but to those who are outside, all things are done in parables,
Anih mah nihcae khaeah, Sithaw mah siangpahrang ah ukhaih prae ih lok tamqu panoek thaihaih to nangcae khaeah paek boeh: toe tasa bangah kaom kaminawk hanah loe, hmuen boih patahhaih hoiah ni thuih:
12 that ‘seeing they may see and not perceive, and hearing they may hear and not understand, lest perhaps they should turn again, and their sins should be forgiven them.’”
nihcae loe hnu o tih, toe maat o mak ai; thaih loe thaih o tih, toe panoek o thai mak ai; to tih ai nahaeloe nihcae mah poekhaih amkhraih o ueloe, nihcae zaehaihnawk to tahmen moeng tih, tiah thuih ih lok to oh, tiah a naa.
13 He said to them, “Don’t you understand this parable? How will you understand all of the parables?
To pongah anih mah nihcae khaeah, Hae patahhaih lok hae na panoek o thai ai maw? Na panoek o thai ai nahaeloe patahhaih hoiah thuih ih loknawk boih to kawbangmaw na panoek o thai tih?
14 The farmer sows the word.
Aanmu haeh kami loe tamthanglok to a haeh.
15 The ones by the road are the ones where the word is sown; and when they have heard, immediately Satan comes and takes away the word which has been sown in them.
Lam taengah kaom kaminawk kheah tamthang lok to a haeh, to kaminawk loe tamthanglok to thaih o, toe Setan loe karangah angzoh moe, nihcae palung thungah haeh ih tamthanglok to lak pae ving, tiah thuih koehhaih ih ni.
16 These in the same way are those who are sown on the rocky places, who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with joy.
Thoemto kaminawk loe kapop thlung ahmuen ah kakrah aanmu hoiah anghmong o; nihcae mah lok to thaih o naah, anghoehaih hoiah talawk o roep;
17 They have no root in themselves, but are short-lived. When oppression or persecution arises because of the word, immediately they stumble.
toe tangzun om ai pongah, atue setta thung khue ni pauep thaih: tamthang lok pongah raihaih hoi pacaekthlaekhaih oh naah, nihcae loe amtimh o roep.
18 Others are those who are sown among the thorns. These are those who have heard the word,
Thoemto kaminawk loe soekhring thungah kakrah aanmu hoiah anghmong o; nihcae loe tamthang lok to thaih o,
19 and the cares of this age, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful. (aiōn g165)
toe hae long nui ih hmuen pongah mawnhaih hoi long angraenghaih mah aling pongah, kalah hmuennawk koehhaih to akun naah, tamthang lok to khuk khoep, to pongah athaih athai ai. (aiōn g165)
20 Those which were sown on the good ground are those who hear the word, accept it, and bear fruit, some thirty times, some sixty times, and some one hundred times.”
Thoemto kaminawk loe kahoih long nuiah kakrah aanmu hoiah anghmong; nihcae mah tamthang lok to thaih o naah, talawk o moe, athaih to athaih; thoemto loe alet quithum, thoemto loe quitaruk, thoemto loe cumvai khoek to pung o tahang, tiah a naa.
21 He said to them, “Is a lamp brought to be put under a basket or under a bed? Isn’t it put on a stand?
Anih mah nihcae khaeah, Hmaithawk loe takho tlim ah, to tih ai boeh loe iihkhun tlim ah suek han ih maw a sinh o? Hmai paanghaih ahmuen ah na ai maw a suek?
22 For there is nothing hidden except that it should be made known, neither was anything made secret but that it should come to light.
To tiah suek naah ni amtueng ai hmuen tidoeh om ai, kangvingh hmuen doeh om ai ah, amtueng phaeng tih.
23 If any man has ears to hear, let him hear.”
Thaihaih naa tawn kami loe, thaih nasoe.
24 He said to them, “Take heed what you hear. With whatever measure you measure, it will be measured to you; and more will be given to you who hear.
Anih mah nihcae khaeah, Na thaih o ih hmuennawk to acoehaih hoiah poek oh: minawk na tahhaih hmuen hoiah ni nang doeh tah toeng tih: kathaih kami nang khaeah, pop aep ah paek tih.
25 For whoever has, to him more will be given; and he who doesn’t have, even that which he has will be taken away from him.”
Katawn kami to pop aep ah paek ueloe: katawn ai kami loe a tawnh ih hmuen doeh la pae kik tih, tiah a naa.
26 He said, “God’s Kingdom is as if a man should cast seed on the earth,
Anih mah, Sithaw mah siangpahrang ah ukhaih prae loe, kami maeto mah long ah haeh ih aanmu baktiah ni oh;
27 and should sleep and rise night and day, and the seed should spring up and grow, though he doesn’t know how.
aqum ah iih moe, khodai naah angthawk, aanmu loe amprawk moe, qoeng tahang, toe kawbangmaw to tiah oh, tito anih mah panoek ai.
28 For the earth bears fruit by itself: first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear.
Angmah koehah long hoiah aquih to tacawt; tadok tacawt tahang hmaloe pacoengah, aquih to tacawt moe, athaih to athaih.
29 But when the fruit is ripe, immediately he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.”
Toe cang hmin naah loe, aah han khawt boeh pongah, anih mah cakra hoiah a aah, tiah a naa.
30 He said, “How will we liken God’s Kingdom? Or with what parable will we illustrate it?
Anih mah, Sithaw mah siangpahrang ah ukhaih prae to kawbangah maw kang patuek o han, to tih ai boeh loe tih hmuen hoiah maw a patah o han?
31 It’s like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, though it is less than all the seeds that are on the earth,
Sithaw mah siangpahrang ah ukhaih prae loe antam mu hoiah anghmong, antam mu loe long ah patit naah, long ih aanmunawk boih pongah kathoeng koek ah oh:
32 yet when it is sown, grows up and becomes greater than all the herbs, and puts out great branches, so that the birds of the sky can lodge under its shadow.”
toe amu to haeh moe, amprawk tahang naah loe, phrohnawk boih pongah len kue, anih ih tahlip tlim ah van ih tavaanawk acuk o thai hanah, kalen parai tanghangnawk to tacawt, tiah a naa.
33 With many such parables he spoke the word to them, as they were able to hear it.
Nihcae mah panoek o thaih pongah, to baktih paroeai patahhaih hoiah lok to a thuih pae.
34 Without a parable he didn’t speak to them; but privately to his own disciples he explained everything.
Patahhaih lok ai ah loe nihcae khaeah lokthui pae ai: angmacae bueng oh o naah loe, a hnukbang kaminawk khaeah hmuennawk boih kamtuengah a thuih pae.
35 On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, “Let’s go over to the other side.”
To na ni, duembang phak naah loe, anih mah nihcae khaeah, Vapui zaeh bangah caeh o si, tiah a naa.
36 Leaving the multitude, they took him with them, even as he was, in the boat. Other small boats were also with him.
A hnukbang kaminawk loe pop parai kaminawk khae hoiah tacawt o moe, palong thung kaom Anih to caeh o haih. Kalah kathoeng kae palongnawk doeh anih hoi nawnto sin o.
37 A big wind storm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so much that the boat was already filled.
To naah takhi sae to song moe, palong thungah tuiphu to akunh, to pongah palong loe tui hoiah koi.
38 He himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they woke him up and asked him, “Teacher, don’t you care that we are dying?”
Anih loe palong hnuk bangah, luhngoeng maeto anghngoeng moe a iih: a hnukbang kaminawk mah anih to pathawk o, anih khaeah, Patukkung, kang hmaat o han boeh, tiah doeh nang dawncang ai boeh maw? tiah a naa o.
39 He awoke and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” The wind ceased and there was a great calm.
Anih loe angthawk moe, takhi to zoeh, tuipui khaeah, Dii ah loe, anghngai duem ah, tiah a naa. To naah takhi to dip moe, paroeai monghaih to oh.
40 He said to them, “Why are you so afraid? How is it that you have no faith?”
Anih mah, Tipongah to tih khoek to na zit o loe, tanghaih na tawn o ai maw? tiah a naa.
41 They were greatly afraid and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?”
Nihcae loe paroeai zit o moe, Hae kami loe kawbaktih kami maw vai? Takhi hoi tuipui mah doeh a lok to tahngai pae o bae hae, tiah maeto hoi maeto a thuih o.
