Luke 4
1 Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness
Jesús, lleno del Espíritu Santo, dejó el Jordán, y fue conducido por el Espíritu al desierto;
2 for forty days, being tempted by the devil. He ate nothing in those days. Afterward, when they were completed, he was hungry.
( donde permaneció ) cuarenta días, y fue tentado por el diablo. No comió nada en aquellos días; y cuando hubieron transcurrido, tuvo hambre.
3 The devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.”
Entonces el diablo le dijo: “Si Tú eres el Hijo de Dios, di a esta piedra que se vuelva pan”.
4 Jesus answered him, saying, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.’”
Jesús le replicó: “Escrito está: «No solo de pan vivirá el hombre»”.
5 The devil, leading him up on a high mountain, showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
Después le transportó ( el diablo ) a una altura, le mostró todos los reinos del mundo, en un instante,
6 The devil said to him, “I will give you all this authority and their glory, for it has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I want.
y le dijo: “Yo te daré todo este poder y la gloria de ellos, porque a mí me ha sido entregada, y la doy a quien quiero.
7 If you therefore will worship before me, it will all be yours.”
Si pues te prosternas delante de mí, Tú la tendrás toda entera”.
8 Jesus answered him, “Get behind me, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and you shall serve him only.’”
Jesús le replicó y dijo: “Escrito está: «Adorarás al Señor tu Dios, y a Él solo servirás»”.
9 He led him to Jerusalem and set him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, cast yourself down from here,
Lo condujo entonces a Jerusalén, lo puso sobre el pináculo del Templo, y le dijo: “Si tú eres el Hijo de Dios, échate de aquí abajo,
10 for it is written, ‘He will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you;’
porque está escrito: «Él mandará en tu favor a sus ángeles que te guarden»;
11 and, ‘On their hands they will bear you up, lest perhaps you dash your foot against a stone.’”
y «ellos te llevarán en palmas, para que no lastimes tu pie contra alguna piedra»”.
12 Jesus answering, said to him, “It has been said, ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’”
Jesús le replicó diciendo: “Está dicho: «No tentarás al Señor tu Dios»”.
13 When the devil had completed every temptation, he departed from him until another time.
Entonces el diablo habiendo agotado toda tentación, se alejó de Él hasta su tiempo.
14 Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee, and news about him spread through all the surrounding area.
Y Jesús volvió con el poder del Espíritu a Galilea, y su fama se difundió en toda la región.
15 He taught in their synagogues, being glorified by all.
Enseñaba en las sinagogas de ellos y era alabado por todos.
16 He came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. He entered, as was his custom, into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read.
Vino también a Nazaret, donde se había criado, y entró, como tenía costumbre el día de sábado, en la sinagoga, y se levantó a hacer la lectura.
17 The book of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. He opened the book, and found the place where it was written,
Le entregaron el libro del profeta Isaías, y al desarrollar el libro halló el lugar en donde estaba escrito:
18 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the broken hearted, to proclaim release to the captives, recovering of sight to the blind, to deliver those who are crushed,
“El Espíritu del Señor está sobre Mí, porque Él me ungió; Él me envió a dar la Buena Nueva a los pobres, a anunciar a los cautivos la liberación, y a los ciegos vista, a poner en libertad a los oprimidos,
19 and to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”
a publicar el año de gracia del Señor”.
20 He closed the book, gave it back to the attendant, and sat down. The eyes of all in the synagogue were fastened on him.
Enrolló el libro, lo devolvió al ministro, y se sentó; y cuantos había en la sinagoga, tenían los ojos fijos en Él.
21 He began to tell them, “Today, this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.”
Entonces empezó a decirles: “Hoy esta Escritura se ha cumplido delante de vosotros”.
22 All testified about him and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth; and they said, “Isn’t this Joseph’s son?”
Y todos le daban testimonio, y estaban maravillados de las palabras llenas de gracia, que salían de sus labios, y decían: “¿No es Este el hijo de José?”
23 He said to them, “Doubtless you will tell me this proverb, ‘Physician, heal yourself! Whatever we have heard done at Capernaum, do also here in your hometown.’”
Y les dijo: “Sin duda me aplicaréis aquel refrán: ‘Médico, cúrate a ti mismo’. Lo que hemos oído que has hecho en Cafarnaúm, hazlo aquí también, en tu pueblo”.
24 He said, “Most certainly I tell you, no prophet is acceptable in his hometown.
Y dijo: “En verdad, os digo, ningún profeta es acogido en su tierra.
25 But truly I tell you, there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the sky was shut up three years and six months, when a great famine came over all the land.
En verdad, os digo: había muchas viudas en Israel en tiempo de Elías, cuando el cielo quedó cerrado durante tres años y seis meses, y hubo hambre grande en toda la tierra;
26 Elijah was sent to none of them, except to Zarephath, in the land of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow.
mas a ninguna de ellas fue enviado Elías, sino a una viuda de Sarepta, en el país de Sidón.
27 There were many lepers in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet, yet not one of them was cleansed, except Naaman, the Syrian.”
Y había muchos leprosos en Israel en tiempo del profeta Eliseo; mas ninguno de ellos fue curado, sino Naamán el sirio”.
28 They were all filled with wrath in the synagogue as they heard these things.
Al oír esto, se llenaron todos de cólera allí en la sinagoga;
29 They rose up, threw him out of the city, and led him to the brow of the hill that their city was built on, that they might throw him off the cliff.
se levantaron, y, echándolo fuera de la ciudad, lo llevaron hasta la cima del monte, sobre la cual estaba edificada su ciudad, para despeñarlo.
30 But he, passing through the middle of them, went his way.
Pero Él pasó por en medio de ellos y se fue.
31 He came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee. He was teaching them on the Sabbath day,
Y bajó a Cafarnaúm, ciudad de Galilea. Y les enseñaba los días de sábado.
32 and they were astonished at his teaching, for his word was with authority.
Y estaban poseídos de admiración por su enseñanza, porque su palabra era llena de autoridad.
33 In the synagogue there was a man who had a spirit of an unclean demon; and he cried out with a loud voice,
Había en la sinagoga un hombre que tenía el espíritu de un demonio inmundo, y gritó con voz fuerte:
34 saying, “Ah! what have we to do with you, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are: the Holy One of God!”
“¡Ea! ¿qué tenemos que ver contigo, Jesús de Nazaret? ¿Has venido para perdernos? Ya sé quien eres Tú: el Santo de Dios”.
35 Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be silent and come out of him!” When the demon had thrown him down in the middle of them, he came out of him, having done him no harm.
Y Jesús le increpó diciendo: “¡Cállate y sal de él!” Y el demonio, salió de él, derribándolo al suelo en medio de ellos, aunque sin hacerle daño.
36 Amazement came on all and they spoke together, one with another, saying, “What is this word? For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits, and they come out!”
Y todos se llenaron de estupor, y se decían unos a otros: “¿Qué cosa es esta que con imperio y fuerza manda a los espíritus inmundos, y salen?”
37 News about him went out into every place of the surrounding region.
Y su fama se extendió por todos los alrededores.
38 He rose up from the synagogue and entered into Simon’s house. Simon’s mother-in-law was afflicted with a great fever, and they begged him to help her.
Levantose de la sinagoga y entró en casa de Simón. La suegra de Simón padecía de una fiebre grande, y le rogaron por ella.
39 He stood over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. Immediately she rose up and served them.
Inclinándose sobre ella increpó a la fiebre, y esta la dejó. Al instante se levantó ella y se puso a atenderlos.
40 When the sun was setting, all those who had any sick with various diseases brought them to him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.
A la puesta del sol, todos los que tenían enfermos, cualquiera que fuese su mal, se los trajeron, y Él imponía las manos sobre cada uno de ellos, y los sanaba.
41 Demons also came out of many, crying out and saying, “You are the Christ, the Son of God!” Rebuking them, he didn’t allow them to speak, because they knew that he was the Christ.
Salían también los demonios de muchos, gritando y diciendo: “¡Tú eres el Hijo de Dios!” Y Él los reprendía y no los dejaba hablar, porque sabían que Él era el Cristo.
42 When it was day, he departed and went into an uninhabited place and the multitudes looked for him, and came to him, and held on to him, so that he wouldn’t go away from them.
Cuando se hizo de día, salió y se fue a un lugar desierto. Mas las muchedumbres que se pusieron en su busca, lo encontraron y lo retenían para que no las dejase.
43 But he said to them, “I must preach the good news of God’s Kingdom to the other cities also. For this reason I have been sent.”
Pero Él les dijo: “Es necesario que Yo lleve también a otras ciudades la Buena Nueva del reino de Dios, porque para eso he sido enviado”.
44 He was preaching in the synagogues of Galilee.
Y anduvo predicando por las sinagogas de Judea.
