Luke 2
1 Now in those days, a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be enrolled.
Es geschah aber in jenen Tagen, daß ein Gebot ausging vom Kaiser Agustus, daß alle Welt sich aufschreiben lasse.
2 This was the first enrollment made when Quirinius was governor of Syria.
Diese erste Aufschreibung geschah, als Quirinus Landpfleger in Syrien war.
3 All went to enroll themselves, everyone to his own city.
Und es ging alle, sich aufschreiben zu lassen, ein jeglicher in seine eigene Stadt.
4 Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to David’s city, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David,
Es zog aber auch Joseph hinauf von Galiläa, aus der Stadt Nazareth, nach Judäa, in die Stadt Davids, welche Bethlehem heißt, darum daß er von dem Haus und Geschlecht Davids war,
5 to enroll himself with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him as wife, being pregnant.
Damit er sich aufschreiben lasse, mit Maria, seinem verlobten Weibe, die war schwanger.
6 While they were there, the day had come for her to give birth.
Es geschah aber, als sie daselbst waren, daß die Tage, in welchen sie gebären sollten, voll wurden.
7 She gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him in bands of cloth and laid him in a feeding trough, because there was no room for them in the inn.
Und sie gebar ihren erstgeborenen Sohn, und wickelte ihn in Windeln, und legte ihn in eine Krippe, weil sie keinen Platz hatten in der Herberge.
8 There were shepherds in the same country staying in the field, and keeping watch by night over their flock.
Und es waren Hirten in jener Gegend, die hielten des Nachts Wache auf freiem Felde bei ihrer Herde.
9 Behold, an angel of the Lord stood by them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.
Und siehe, der Engel des Herrn stund bei ihnen, und die Herrlichkeit des Herrn umleuchtete sie, und sie fürchteten sich ganz fürchterlich.
10 The angel said to them, “Don’t be afraid, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be to all the people.
Und der Engel sprach zu ihnen: Fürchtet euch nicht, denn siehe, ich verkündige euch große Freude, die dem ganzen Volke (Israel) widerfahren wird,
11 For there is born to you today, in David’s city, a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
Denn euch ist heute ein Heiland geboren, welcher ist der Messias, der Herr, in der Stadt Davids.
12 This is the sign to you: you will find a baby wrapped in strips of cloth, lying in a feeding trough.”
Und dies sei euch das Zeichen: Ihr werdet finden ein Kindlein in Windeln gewickelt, und in einer Krippe liegend.
13 Suddenly, there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly army praising God and saying,
Und plötzlich war mit dem Engel eine Menge des himmlischen Heeres, die lobten Gott, und sprachen:
14 “Glory to God in the highest, on earth peace, good will toward men.”
Ehre sei Gott in den Höhen! Friede auf Erden! An Menschen Wohlgefallen!
15 When the angels went away from them into the sky, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem, now, and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.”
Und es geschah, als die Engel von ihnen gegangen waren, in den Himmel, da sprachen die Hirten zu einander: Lasset uns gehen gen Bethlehem, und diese Sache sehen, die geschehen ist, und die der Herr und kund getan hat.
16 They came with haste and found both Mary and Joseph, and the baby was lying in the feeding trough.
Und sie kamen eilend, und fanden Maria und Joseph, und das Kind in der Krippe liegend.
17 When they saw it, they publicized widely the saying which was spoken to them about this child.
Und da sie gesehen hatten, machten sie die Sache kund, die ihnen von diesem Kinde gesagt war.
18 All who heard it wondered at the things which were spoken to them by the shepherds.
Und alle, die es hörten, verwunderten sich über das, was ihnen die Hirten gesagt hatten.
19 But Mary kept all these sayings, pondering them in her heart.
Maria aber bewahrte alle diese Dinge, und bewegte sie in ihrem Herzen.
20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, just as it was told them.
Und die Hirten kehrten um, und lobten und priesen Gott, um alles sie, das sie gehört und gesehen hatten, so wie ihnen gesagt war.
21 When eight days were fulfilled for the circumcision of the child, his name was called Jesus, which was given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.
Und als acht Tage um waren, da ward sein Name genannt: Jesus, welcher genannt war von dem Engel, ehe er im Mutterleibe empfangen war.
22 When the days of their purification according to the law of Moses were fulfilled, they brought him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord
Und als die Tage ihrer Reinigung nach dem Gesetz Mosis erfüllt waren, brachten sie ihn hinauf nach Jerusalem, um ihn dem Herrn darzustellen;
23 (as it is written in the law of the Lord, “Every male who opens the womb shall be called holy to the Lord”),
Wie geschrieben steht im Gesetz des Herrn: Jedes Männlein, das die Mutter aufbricht, soll dem Herrn heilig heißen;
24 and to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the law of the Lord, “A pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons.”
Und damit sie ein Opfer brächten, nach dem, das gesagt ist im Gesetz des Herrn: ein Paar Turteltauben, oder zwei junge Tauben.
25 Behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. This man was righteous and devout, looking for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was on him.
Und siehe, es war ein Mensch in Jerusalem, mit Namen Symeon, und dieser Mensch war gerecht und gottesfürchtig, und wartete auf den Trost Israels, und heiliger Geist war auf ihm.
26 It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he should not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.
Und es war ihm geoffenbart von dem heiligen Geist, daß er den Tod nicht sehen werde, ehe er den Messias des Herrn gesehen hätte.
27 He came in the Spirit into the temple. When the parents brought in the child, Jesus, that they might do concerning him according to the custom of the law,
Und er kam in dem Geiste in den Tempel. Und als die Eltern das Kindlein Jesus hineintrugen, damit sie täten nach der Sitte des Gesetzes, für ihn,
28 then he received him into his arms and blessed God, and said,
Da nahm er es in seine Arme, und lobte Gott, und sprach:
29 “Now you are releasing your servant, Master, according to your word, in peace;
Nun entlässest du, Gebieter, deinen Knecht im Frieden, wie du gesagt hast,
30 for my eyes have seen your salvation,
Denn meine Augen haben dein Heil gesehen,
31 which you have prepared before the face of all peoples;
Das du bereitet hast im Angesicht aller Völker,
32 a light for revelation to the nations, and the glory of your people Israel.”
Licht zur Offenbarung für die Heiden, und Herrlichkeit für dein Volk Israel.
33 Joseph and his mother were marveling at the things which were spoken concerning him.
Und sein Vater und seine Mutter waren verwundert ob dem, das über ihn geredet ward.
34 Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary, his mother, “Behold, this child is appointed for the falling and the rising of many in Israel, and for a sign which is spoken against.
Und Symeon segnete sie, und sprach zu Maria, seiner Mutter: Siehe, dieser steht da zum Fallen und Aufstehen vieler in Israel, und zum Zeichen, dem widersprochen wird;
35 Yes, a sword will pierce through your own soul, that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.”
Und auch dir selbst wird ein Schwert die Seele durchbohren; damit vieler Herzen Gedanken offenbar werden.
36 There was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher (she was of a great age, having lived with a husband seven years from her virginity,
Und es war eine Prophetin, Hanna, eine Tochter Phanuels vom Stamme Aser, die war hochbetagt, und hatte gelebt mit ihrem Manne sieben Jahre nach ihrer Jungfrauschaft,
37 and she had been a widow for about eighty-four years), who didn’t depart from the temple, worshiping with fastings and petitions night and day.
Und sie war eine Witwe bei vierundachzig Jahren, die nicht von dem Tempel wich, sondern diente Gott mit Fasten und Gebet, Nacht und Tag.
38 Coming up at that very hour, she gave thanks to the Lord, and spoke of him to all those who were looking for redemption in Jerusalem.
Und sie trat hinzu in selbiger Stunde, pries den Herrn, und redete von ihm zu allen, die auf die Erlösung warteten in Jerusalem.
39 When they had accomplished all things that were according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city, Nazareth.
Und da sie alles vollendet hatten nach dem Gesetz des Herrn, kehrten sie zurück nach Galiläa, in ihre Stadt Nazareth.
40 The child was growing, and was becoming strong in spirit, being filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon him.
Das Kindlein aber wuchs, und erstarkte, voller Weisheit; und Gottes Gnade war auf ihm.
41 His parents went every year to Jerusalem at the feast of the Passover.
Und seine Eltern gingen jährlich gen Jerusalem auf das Passahfest.
42 When he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem according to the custom of the feast;
Und als er zwölf Jahre alt war, gingen sie hinauf gen Jerusalem nach der Gewohnheit des Festes.
43 and when they had fulfilled the days, as they were returning, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. Joseph and his mother didn’t know it,
Und da sie die Tage vollendet hatten, und zurückkehrten, blieb der Knabe Jesus in Jerusalem, und seine Eltern wußten es nicht.
44 but supposing him to be in the company, they went a day’s journey; and they looked for him among their relatives and acquaintances.
Sie meinten aber, er wäre bei der Reisegesellschaft, und kamen eine Tagesreise, und suchten ihn auf bei den Verwandten und Bekannten.
45 When they didn’t find him, they returned to Jerusalem, looking for him.
Und da sie ihn nicht fanden, kehrten sie zurück nach Jerusalem, und suchten ihn.
46 After three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the middle of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions.
Und es geschah nach drei Tagen, fanden sie ihn im Tempel, sitzend in der Mitte der Lehrer, indem er ihnen zuhörte und sie fragte.
47 All who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers.
Alle aber, die ihn hörten, verwunderten sich seines Verstandes und seiner Antworten.
48 When they saw him, they were astonished; and his mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us this way? Behold, your father and I were anxiously looking for you.”
Und als sie ihn sahen, waren sie erstaunt, und seine Mutter sprach zu ihm: Kind, warum hast du uns das getan? Siehe, dein Vater und ich haben dich mit Schmerzen gesucht.
49 He said to them, “Why were you looking for me? Didn’t you know that I must be in my Father’s house?”
Und er sprach zu ihnen: Warum habt ihr mich gesucht? Wußtet ihr nicht, daß ich sein muß in dem, was meines Vaters ist?
50 They didn’t understand the saying which he spoke to them.
Und sie verstanden das Wort nicht, welches er ihnen sagte.
51 And he went down with them and came to Nazareth. He was subject to them, and his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.
Und er ging mit ihnen hinab, und kam nach Nazareth, und war ihnen untertan. Und seine Mutter bewahrte alle diese Dinge in ihrem Herzen. -
52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.
Und Jesus nahm zu an Weisheit und Körpergröße und Gnade bei Gott und Menschen.
