Luke 19
1 He entered and was passing through Jericho.
Jésus, étant entré dans Jérico, passait par la ville.
2 There was a man named Zacchaeus. He was a chief tax collector, and he was rich.
Il y avait là un homme appelé Zachée; c'était le chef des péagers, et il était riche.
3 He was trying to see who Jesus was, and couldn’t because of the crowd, because he was short.
Il cherchait à voir qui était Jésus, mais il ne le pouvait pas à cause de la foule, parce qu'il était de petite taille.
4 He ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him, for he was going to pass that way.
Il courut donc en avant et monta sur un sycomore pour voir Jésus, parce qu'il devait passer par là.
5 When Jesus came to the place, he looked up and saw him, and said to him, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for today I must stay at your house.”
Jésus, arrivé à cet endroit, leva les yeux et lui dit: Zachée, hâte-toi de descendre; car il faut que je demeure aujourd'hui dans ta maison.
6 He hurried, came down, and received him joyfully.
Zachée se hâta de descendre et reçut Jésus avec joie.
7 When they saw it, they all murmured, saying, “He has gone in to lodge with a man who is a sinner.”
Voyant cela, tous murmuraient et disaient: Il est entré chez un pécheur pour y loger!
8 Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Behold, Lord, half of my goods I give to the poor. If I have wrongfully exacted anything of anyone, I restore four times as much.”
Mais Zachée, se tenant debout devant le Seigneur, lui dit: Seigneur, voici que je donne la moitié de mes biens aux pauvres, et si j'ai fait tort à quelqu'un en quoi que ce soit, je lui rends quatre fois autant.
9 Jesus said to him, “Today, salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham.
Alors Jésus lui dit: Aujourd'hui le salut est entré dans cette maison, parce que celui-ci est aussi un fils d'Abraham.
10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save that which was lost.”
Car le Fils de l'homme est venu chercher et sauver ce qui est perdu.
11 As they heard these things, he went on and told a parable, because he was near Jerusalem, and they supposed that God’s Kingdom would be revealed immediately.
Comme on écoutait ces paroles, Jésus ajouta une parabole, parce qu'il était près de Jérusalem, et qu'on croyait que le royaume de Dieu allait apparaître soudain.
12 He said therefore, “A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom and to return.
Il dit donc: Un homme de haute naissance s'en alla dans un pays éloigné, pour être investi de l'autorité royale et revenir ensuite.
13 He called ten servants of his and gave them ten mina coins, and told them, ‘Conduct business until I come.’
Il appela dix de ses serviteurs, leur donna dix mines, et il leur dit: Faites-les valoir jusqu'à ce que je revienne.
14 But his citizens hated him, and sent an envoy after him, saying, ‘We don’t want this man to reign over us.’
Mais les gens de son pays le haïssaient; et ils envoyèrent une ambassade après lui, pour dire: Nous ne voulons pas que celui-ci règne sur nous!
15 “When he had come back again, having received the kingdom, he commanded these servants, to whom he had given the money, to be called to him, that he might know what they had gained by conducting business.
Lorsqu'il fut de retour, après avoir été investi de l'autorité royale, il fit venir ses serviteurs auxquels il avait donné l'argent, pour savoir combien chacun lui avait fait rapporter.
16 The first came before him, saying, ‘Lord, your mina has made ten more minas.’
Le premier se présenta et dit: Seigneur, ta mine a produit dix autres mines.
17 “He said to him, ‘Well done, you good servant! Because you were found faithful with very little, you shall have authority over ten cities.’
Et il lui dit: Cela va bien, bon serviteur; puisque tu as été fidèle en très peu de chose, tu auras le gouvernement de dix villes.
18 “The second came, saying, ‘Your mina, Lord, has made five minas.’
Le second vint et dit: Seigneur, ta mine a produit cinq mines.
19 “So he said to him, ‘And you are to be over five cities.’
Il lui dit aussi: Et toi, commande à cinq villes.
20 Another came, saying, ‘Lord, behold, your mina, which I kept laid away in a handkerchief,
Un autre vint et dit: Seigneur, voici ta mine que j'ai gardée, enveloppée dans un linge;
21 for I feared you, because you are an exacting man. You take up that which you didn’t lay down, and reap that which you didn’t sow.’
car je te craignais, parce que tu es un homme dur; tu prends ce que tu n'as pas placé, et tu moissonnes ce que tu n'as pas semé.
22 “He said to him, ‘Out of your own mouth I will judge you, you wicked servant! You knew that I am an exacting man, taking up that which I didn’t lay down and reaping that which I didn’t sow.
Son maître lui répondit: Méchant serviteur, je te jugerai sur tes propres paroles. Tu savais que je suis un homme dur, qui prend ce qu'il n'a pas placé, et qui moissonne ce qu'il n'a pas semé.
23 Then why didn’t you deposit my money in the bank, and at my coming, I might have earned interest on it?’
Pourquoi donc n'as-tu pas mis mon argent dans une banque? A mon retour, je l'aurais retiré avec l'intérêt.
24 He said to those who stood by, ‘Take the mina away from him and give it to him who has the ten minas.’
Et il dit à ceux qui étaient présents: Otez-lui la mine, et donnez-la à celui qui a les dix mines.
25 “They said to him, ‘Lord, he has ten minas!’
Ils lui répondirent: Seigneur, il a dix mines!
26 ‘For I tell you that to everyone who has, will more be given; but from him who doesn’t have, even that which he has will be taken away from him.
— Je vous le déclare, on donnera à celui qui a; mais à celui qui n'a pas, cela même qu'il a lui sera ôté.
27 But bring those enemies of mine who didn’t want me to reign over them here, and kill them before me.’”
Quant à mes ennemis, ceux qui n'ont pas voulu que je règne sur eux, amenez-les ici et égorgez-les en ma présence.
28 Having said these things, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem.
Après avoir dit cela, Jésus allait devant eux, montant à Jérusalem.
29 When he came near to Bethsphage and Bethany, at the mountain that is called Olivet, he sent two of his disciples,
Lorsqu'il fut arrivé près de Bethphagé et de Béthanie, vers la montagne appelée montagne des Oliviers, il envoya deux de ses disciples,
30 saying, “Go your way into the village on the other side, in which, as you enter, you will find a colt tied, which no man has ever sat upon. Untie it and bring it.
et il leur dit: Allez au village qui est devant vous; en y entrant, vous trouverez un ânon attaché, que personne n'a jamais monté; détachez-le et amenez-le-moi.
31 If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ say to him: ‘The Lord needs it.’”
Si quelqu'un vous demande pourquoi vous le détachez, vous lui répondrez: Le Seigneur en a besoin.
32 Those who were sent went away and found things just as he had told them.
Ceux qui étaient envoyés partirent, et ils trouvèrent les choses comme Jésus le leur avait dit.
33 As they were untying the colt, its owners said to them, “Why are you untying the colt?”
Pendant qu'ils détachaient l'ânon, ceux à qui il appartenait leur dirent: Pourquoi détachez-vous cet ânon?
34 They said, “The Lord needs it.”
Ils répondirent: Le Seigneur en a besoin.
35 Then they brought it to Jesus. They threw their cloaks on the colt and sat Jesus on them.
Et ils l'amenèrent à Jésus. Puis, ayant mis leurs vêtements sur l'ânon, ils y firent monter Jésus.
36 As he went, they spread their cloaks on the road.
Comme il s'avançait, les gens étendaient leurs vêtements sur le chemin.
37 As he was now getting near, at the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works which they had seen,
Et lorsqu'il approcha de la descente de la montagne des Oliviers, toute la multitude des disciples, transportée de joie, se mit à louer Dieu, à haute voix, de tous les miracles qu'ils avaient vus.
38 saying, “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven, and glory in the highest!”
Ils disaient: Béni soit le Roi qui vient au nom du Seigneur! Paix dans le ciel, et gloire dans les lieux très hauts!
39 Some of the Pharisees from the multitude said to him, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!”
Alors quelques-uns des pharisiens, qui étaient dans la foule, lui dirent: Maître, reprends tes disciples!
40 He answered them, “I tell you that if these were silent, the stones would cry out.”
Il leur répondit: Je vous le déclare: s'ils se taisent, les pierres crieront!
41 When he came near, he saw the city and wept over it,
Quand il fut près de la ville, en la voyant, Jésus pleura sur elle, et il dit:
42 saying, “If you, even you, had known today the things which belong to your peace! But now, they are hidden from your eyes.
Si tu avais reconnu, toi aussi, au moins en ce jour, ce qui pouvait te donner la paix! Mais maintenant ces choses sont cachées à tes yeux.
43 For the days will come on you when your enemies will throw up a barricade against you, surround you, hem you in on every side,
Car des jours viendront sur toi où tes ennemis t'environneront de tranchées, t'investiront et te serreront de toutes parts.
44 and will dash you and your children within you to the ground. They will not leave in you one stone on another, because you didn’t know the time of your visitation.”
Ils te détruiront entièrement, toi et tes enfants au milieu de toi; et ils ne te laisseront pas une pierre sur une autre pierre, parce que tu n'as point reconnu le temps où tu as été visitée.
45 He entered into the temple and began to drive out those who bought and sold in it,
Quand il fut entré dans le temple, il se mit à chasser ceux qui y vendaient en leur disant:
46 saying to them, “It is written, ‘My house is a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of robbers’!”
Il est écrit: «Ma maison sera une maison de prière!» Et vous, vous en avez fait une caverne de voleurs.
47 He was teaching daily in the temple, but the chief priests, the scribes, and the leading men among the people sought to destroy him.
Il enseignait chaque jour dans le temple. Les principaux sacrificateurs, les scribes et les premiers du peuple cherchaient à le faire mourir;
48 They couldn’t find what they might do, for all the people hung on to every word that he said.
mais ils ne savaient comment s'y prendre, car tout le peuple, en l'écoutant, était suspendu à ses lèvres.
