Luke 18
1 He also spoke a parable to them that they must always pray and not give up,
૧સર્વદા પ્રાર્થના કરવી જોઈએ, અને નાહિંમત થવું નહિ, તે શીખવવા સારુ ઈસુએ એક દ્રષ્ટાંત તેઓને કહ્યું કે,
2 saying, “There was a judge in a certain city who didn’t fear God and didn’t respect man.
૨‘એક શહેરમાં એક ન્યાયાધીશ હતો, જે ઈશ્વરથી બીતો ન હતો અને માણસને ગણકારતો ન હતો.
3 A widow was in that city, and she often came to him, saying, ‘Defend me from my adversary!’
૩તે શહેરમાં એક વિધવા સ્ત્રી હતી; તે વારંવાર તેની પાસે આવતી હતી કે ‘મારા પ્રતિવાદીની પાસેથી મને ન્યાય અપાવ.’”
4 He wouldn’t for a while; but afterward he said to himself, ‘Though I neither fear God nor respect man,
૪કેટલીક મુદત સુધી તે એમ કરવા ઇચ્છતો ન હતો; પણ પછીથી તેણે પોતાના મનમાં વિચાર્યું કે, જોકે હું ઈશ્વરથી બીતો નથી, અને માણસને ગણકારતો નથી,
5 yet because this widow bothers me, I will defend her, or else she will wear me out by her continual coming.’”
૫તોપણ આ વિધવા સ્ત્રી મને તસ્દી આપે છે, માટે હું તેને ન્યાય અપાવીશ, કે જેથી તે વારેઘડીએ આવીને મને તંગ કરે નહિ.’”
6 The Lord said, “Listen to what the unrighteous judge says.
૬પ્રભુએ કહ્યું કે, ‘એ અન્યાયી ન્યાયાધીશ શું કહે છે તે સાંભળો.
7 Won’t God avenge his chosen ones who are crying out to him day and night, and yet he exercises patience with them?
૭એ ન્યાયાધીશની માફક ઈશ્વર પોતાના પસંદ કરેલા, જેઓ તેમની આગળ રાતદિવસ હાંક મારે છે, અને જેઓ વિષે તે ખામોશી રાખે છે, તેઓને શું ન્યાય નહિ આપશે?’”
8 I tell you that he will avenge them quickly. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”
૮હું તમને કહું છું કે, ‘તે જલદી તેઓને ન્યાય આપશે. પરંતુ માણસનો દીકરો આવશે, ત્યારે તેમને શું પૃથ્વી પર વિશ્વાસ જડશે?’”
9 He also spoke this parable to certain people who were convinced of their own righteousness, and who despised all others:
૯કેટલાક પોતાના વિષે ઘમંડ રાખતા હતા કે અમે ન્યાયી છીએ, અને બીજાને તુચ્છકારતા હતા, તેઓને પણ ઈસુએ આ દ્રષ્ટાંત કહ્યું કે,
10 “Two men went up into the temple to pray; one was a Pharisee, and the other was a tax collector.
૧૦બે માણસો પ્રાર્થના કરવા સારુ ભક્તિસ્થાનમાં ગયા; એક ફરોશી, અને બીજો દાણી હતો.
11 The Pharisee stood and prayed by himself like this: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like the rest of men: extortionists, unrighteous, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.
૧૧ફરોશીએ ઊભા રહીને પોતાના મનમાં એવી પ્રાર્થના કરી કે, ‘ઓ ઈશ્વર, બીજા માણસોના જેવો જુલમી, અન્યાયી, વ્યભિચારી અથવા આ દાણીના જેવો હું નથી, માટે હું તમારી ઉપકારસ્તુતિ કરું છું.
12 I fast twice a week. I give tithes of all that I get.’
૧૨અઠવાડિયામાં બે વાર હું ઉપવાસ કરું છું અને મારી બધી આવકનો દસમો ભાગ આપું છું.’”
13 But the tax collector, standing far away, wouldn’t even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’
૧૩પણ દાણીએ દૂર ઊભા રહીને પોતાની આંખો સ્વર્ગ તરફ ઊંચી કરવા ન ચાહતા, દુ: ખ સાથે છાતી કૂટીને કહ્યું કે, ‘ઓ ઈશ્વર, મુજ પાપી પર દયા કરો.’”
14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted.”
૧૪હું તમને કહું છું કે, ‘પેલા કરતા એ માણસ ન્યાયી ઠરીને પોતાને ઘરે ગયો; કેમ કે જે કોઈ પોતાને ઊંચો કરે છે તે નીચો કરાશે, અને જે પોતાને નીચો કરે છે તેને ઊંચો કરવામાં આવશે.’”
15 They were also bringing their babies to him, that he might touch them. But when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them.
૧૫તેઓ ઈસુ પાસે પોતાનાં બાળકો પણ લાવ્યા, એ સારુ કે તે તેઓને આશીર્વાદ આપે. પણ શિષ્યોએ તેઓને ધમકાવ્યાં.
16 Jesus summoned them, saying, “Allow the little children to come to me, and don’t hinder them, for God’s Kingdom belongs to such as these.
૧૬તેથી ઈસુએ તેઓને બોલાવીને કહ્યું કે, ‘બાળકોને મારી પાસે આવવા દો, ને તેઓને અટકાવો નહિ; કેમ કે ઈશ્વરનું રાજ્ય એવાઓનું જ છે.
17 Most certainly, I tell you, whoever doesn’t receive God’s Kingdom like a little child, he will in no way enter into it.”
૧૭હું તમને નિશ્ચે કહું છું કે, જે કોઈ બાળકની માફક ઈશ્વરનું રાજ્ય સ્વીકારશે નહિ, તે તેમાં પ્રવેશી શકશે નહિ.’”
18 A certain ruler asked him, saying, “Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” (aiōnios g166)
૧૮એક અધિકારીએ ઈસુને પૂછ્યું કે, ‘ઉત્તમ ઉપદેશક, અનંતજીવનનો વારસો પામવા હું શું કરું?’” (aiōnios g166)
19 Jesus asked him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good, except one: God.
૧૯ઈસુએ તેને કહ્યું કે, ‘તું મને ઉત્તમ કેમ કહે છે? એક એટલે ઈશ્વર વિના અન્ય કોઈ ઉત્તમ નથી.
20 You know the commandments: ‘Don’t commit adultery,’ ‘Don’t murder,’ ‘Don’t steal,’ ‘Don’t give false testimony,’ ‘Honor your father and your mother.’”
૨૦તું આજ્ઞાઓ જાણે છે કે, વ્યભિચાર ન કર, હત્યા ન કર, ચોરી ન કર, જૂઠી સાક્ષી ન પૂર, પોતાના માબાપને માન આપ.’”
21 He said, “I have observed all these things from my youth up.”
૨૧તેણે કહ્યું કે, એ બધું તો હું મારા નાનપણથી પાળતો આવ્યો છું.’”
22 When Jesus heard these things, he said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have and distribute it to the poor. Then you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.”
૨૨ઈસુએ તે સાંભળીને તેને કહ્યું કે, ‘તું હજી એક વાત સંબંધી અધૂરો છે; તારું જે છે તે બધું વેચી નાખ, અને તે ગરીબોને આપી દે, એટલે સ્વર્ગમાં તને દ્રવ્ય મળશે; પછી આવીને મારી પાછળ ચાલ.’”
23 But when he heard these things, he became very sad, for he was very rich.
૨૩પણ એ સાંભળીને તે અતિ ઉદાસ થયો, કેમ કે તેની મિલકત ઘણી હતી.
24 Jesus, seeing that he became very sad, said, “How hard it is for those who have riches to enter into God’s Kingdom!
૨૪ઈસુ તેને જોઈને ઉદાસ થયા અને કહ્યું કે, ‘જેઓ ધનવાન છે, તેઓને ઈશ્વરના રાજ્યમાં પ્રવેશવું એ ખૂબ અઘરું છે!
25 For it is easier for a camel to enter in through a needle’s eye than for a rich man to enter into God’s Kingdom.”
૨૫કેમ કે શ્રીમંતને ઈશ્વરના રાજ્યમાં પ્રવેશવા કરતાં ઊંટને સોયના નાકામાંથી પસાર થવું સહેલું છે.’”
26 Those who heard it said, “Then who can be saved?”
૨૬તે વચન સાંભળનારાઓએ કહ્યું કે, ‘તો કોણ ઉદ્ધાર પામી શકે?’”
27 But he said, “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.”
૨૭પણ ઈસુએ કહ્યું કે, ‘માણસોને જે અશક્ય છે તે ઈશ્વરને શક્ય છે.’”
28 Peter said, “Look, we have left everything and followed you.”
૨૮પિતરે કહ્યું કે, ‘જુઓ, અમે પોતાનું બધું મૂકીને તમારી પાછળ આવ્યા છીએ.’”
29 He said to them, “Most certainly I tell you, there is no one who has left house, or wife, or brothers, or parents, or children, for God’s Kingdom’s sake,
૨૯ઈસુએ તેઓને કહ્યું કે, હું તમને નિશ્ચે કહું છું કે, ‘જે કોઈએ ઘરને, પત્નીને, ભાઈઓને, માબાપને કે સંતાનોને ઈશ્વરના રાજ્યને લીધે ત્યાગ્યા હશે,
31 He took the twelve aside and said to them, “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all the things that are written through the prophets concerning the Son of Man will be completed.
૩૧ઈસુએ બારે શિષ્યોને પાસે બોલાવીને તેઓને કહ્યું કે,’ જુઓ, આપણે યરુશાલેમ જઈએ છીએ, અને માણસના દીકરા સંબંધી પ્રબોધકોથી જે લખાયું છે તે સર્વ પૂરું કરાશે.
32 For he will be delivered up to the Gentiles, will be mocked, treated shamefully, and spit on.
૩૨કેમ કે તેમને બિનયહૂદીઓને આધીન કરાશે, અને તેમની મશ્કરી તથા અપમાન કરાશે, અને તેમના પર તેઓ થૂંકશે;
33 They will scourge and kill him. On the third day, he will rise again.”
૩૩વળી કોરડા મારીને તેઓ તેમને મારી નાખશે, અને ત્રીજે દિવસે તે પાછા સજીવન થશે.’”
34 They understood none of these things. This saying was hidden from them, and they didn’t understand the things that were said.
૩૪પણ તેમાંનું કંઈ તેઓના સમજવામાં આવ્યું; નહિ અને આ વાત તેઓથી ગુપ્ત રહી, અને જે કહેવામાં આવ્યું તે તેઓ સમજ્યા નહિ.
35 As he came near Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the road, begging.
૩૫એમ થયું કે ઈસુ યરીખો પાસે આવતા હતા, ત્યારે માર્ગની બાજુએ એક અંધ જન બેઠો હતો, તે ભીખ માગતો હતો.
36 Hearing a multitude going by, he asked what this meant.
૩૬ઘણાં લોકો પાસે થઈને જતા હોય એવું સાંભળીને તેણે પૂછ્યું કે, ‘આ શું હશે?’”
37 They told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by.
૩૭તેઓએ તેને કહ્યું કે, ‘ઈસુ નાઝારી પાસે થઈને જાય છે.’”
38 He cried out, “Jesus, you son of David, have mercy on me!”
૩૮તેણે બૂમ પાડીને કહ્યું કે, ‘ઓ ઈસુ, દાઉદના દીકરા, મારા પર દયા કરો.’”
39 Those who led the way rebuked him, that he should be quiet; but he cried out all the more, “You son of David, have mercy on me!”
૩૯જેઓ આગળ જતા હતા તેઓએ તેને ધમકાવ્યો, કે ‘ચૂપ રહે;’ પણ તેણે વધારે મોટેથી બૂમ પાડીને કહ્યું કે, ‘દાઉદના દીકરા, મારા પર દયા કરો.’”
40 Standing still, Jesus commanded him to be brought to him. When he had come near, he asked him,
૪૦ઈસુએ ઊભા રહીને તેને પોતાની પાસે લાવવાની આજ્ઞા કરી અને તે પાસે આવ્યો, ત્યારે ઈસુએ તેને પૂછ્યું કે,
41 “What do you want me to do?” He said, “Lord, that I may see again.”
૪૧‘હું તારે માટે શું કરું, તારી ઇચ્છા શી છે?’ તેણે કહ્યું કે, ‘પ્રભુ હું દ્રષ્ટિ પામું.
42 Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight. Your faith has healed you.”
૪૨ઈસુએ તેને કહ્યું કે, ‘તું દ્રષ્ટિ પામ; તારા વિશ્વાસે તને બચાવ્યો છે,’
43 Immediately he received his sight and followed him, glorifying God. All the people, when they saw it, praised God.
૪૩અને તરત તે દ્રષ્ટિ પામ્યો અને ઈશ્વરને મહિમા આપતો તે તેમની પાછળ ચાલ્યો; બધા લોકોએ તે જોઈને ઈશ્વરની સ્તુતિ કરી.
