Luke 16
1 He also said to his disciples, “There was a certain rich man who had a manager. An accusation was made to him that this man was wasting his possessions.
૧પછી ઈસુએ શિષ્યોને પણ કહ્યું કે, ‘એક શ્રીમંત માણસ હતો, તેણે એક કારભારી રાખ્યો; અને શ્રીમંતની આગળ કારભારી પર એવો આરોપ મૂકવામાં આવ્યો કે, તે તમારી મિલકત ઉડાવી દે છે.
2 He called him, and said to him, ‘What is this that I hear about you? Give an accounting of your management, for you can no longer be manager.’
૨અને તેણે તેને બોલાવીને કહ્યું કે, આ જે તારે વિષે હું સાંભળું છું તે શું છે? તારા વહીવટનો હિસાબ આપ; કેમ કે હવેથી તું કારભારી રહી શકશે નહિ.
3 “The manager said within himself, ‘What will I do, seeing that my lord is taking away the management position from me? I don’t have strength to dig. I am ashamed to beg.
૩કારભારીએ પોતાના મનમાં કહ્યું કે, હું શું કરું? કેમ કે મારો માલિક મારી પાસેથી કારભાર લઈ લે છે. મારામાં મજૂરી કરવાની શકતી નથી; ભીખ માગતાં મને શરમ લાગે છે.
4 I know what I will do, so that when I am removed from management, they may receive me into their houses.’
૪તે મને કારભારમાંથી કાઢી મૂકે ત્યારે લોકો મારા સાથમાં રહે તે માટે શું કરવું તેની મને સૂઝ પડે છે.
5 Calling each one of his lord’s debtors to him, he said to the first, ‘How much do you owe to my lord?’
૫તેણે પોતાના માલિકના દરેક કરજદારને બોલાવ્યા. તેમાંના પહેલાને કહ્યું કે, મારા માલિકનું તારે કેટલું દેવું છે?
6 He said, ‘A hundred batos of oil.’ He said to him, ‘Take your bill, and sit down quickly and write fifty.’
૬અને તેણે કહ્યું કે, સો માપ તેલ. અને તેણે તેને કહ્યું કે, તારું ખાતું લે, અને જલદી બેસીને પચાસ લખ.
7 Then he said to another, ‘How much do you owe?’ He said, ‘A hundred cors of wheat.’ He said to him, ‘Take your bill, and write eighty.’
૭પછી તેણે બીજાને કહ્યું કે, તારે કેટલું દેવું છે? અને તેણે કહ્યું કે, સો માપ ઘઉં, તેણે તેને કહ્યું કે, તારું ખાતું લે, અને એંસી લખ.
8 “His lord commended the dishonest manager because he had done wisely, for the children of this world are, in their own generation, wiser than the children of the light. (aiōn g165)
૮તેના માલિકે અન્યાયી કારભારીનાં વખાણ કર્યાં, કારણ કે તે હોશિયારીથી વર્ત્યો હતો; કેમ કે આ જગતના દીકરા પોતાની પેઢી વિષે અજવાળાનાં દીકરા કરતાં વધારે હોશિયાર હોય છે. (aiōn g165)
9 I tell you, make for yourselves friends by means of unrighteous mammon, so that when you fail, they may receive you into the eternal tents. (aiōnios g166)
૯અને હું તમને કહું છું કે, અન્યાયીપણાના દ્રવ્ય વડે પોતાને સારુ મિત્રો કરો, કે જયારે તે થઈ રહે, ત્યારે તેઓ અનંતકાળના રહેઠાણોમાં તમારો અંગીકાર કરે. (aiōnios g166)
10 He who is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much. He who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much.
૧૦જે બહુ થોડામાં વિશ્વાસુ છે તે ઘણાંમાં પણ વિશ્વાસુ છે; અને જે બહુ થોડામાં અન્યાયી છે તે ઘણાંમાં પણ અન્યાયી છે.
11 If therefore you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?
૧૧માટે જો અન્યાયી દ્રવ્યમાં તમે વિશ્વાસુ ન થયા હો, તો ખરું દ્રવ્ય તમને કોણ સોંપશે?
12 If you have not been faithful in that which is another’s, who will give you that which is your own?
૧૨જો તમે બીજાના દ્રવ્ય સંબંધી વિશ્વાસુ ન થયા હો, તો જે તમારું પોતાનું તે કોણ તમને સોંપશે?
13 No servant can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other; or else he will hold to one and despise the other. You aren’t able to serve God and Mammon.”
૧૩કોઈ ચાકર બે માલિકોની ચાકરી કરી શકતો નથી; કેમ કે તે એકનો દ્વેષ કરશે, ને બીજા પર પ્રેમ કરશે, અથવા તે એકના પક્ષનો થશે, ને બીજાનો તિરસ્કાર કરશે. એકસાથે તમે ઈશ્વરની તથા દ્રવ્યની ચાકરી કરી શકો નહિ.
14 The Pharisees, who were lovers of money, also heard all these things, and they scoffed at him.
૧૪અને ફરોશીઓ જેઓ દ્રવ્યના લોભી હતા તેઓએ તે સઘળી વાતો સાંભળીને ઈસુની મશ્કરી કરી.
15 He said to them, “You are those who justify yourselves in the sight of men, but God knows your hearts. For that which is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God.
૧૫ઈસુએ તેઓને કહ્યું કે, માણસોની આગળ તમે પોતાને ન્યાયી બતાવો છો, પણ ઈશ્વર તમારાં હૃદય જાણે છે; કેમ કે માણસોમાં જે ઉત્તમ ગણેલું છે તે ઈશ્વરની દ્રષ્ટિમાં ધિક્કારપાત્ર છે.
16 “The law and the prophets were until John. From that time the Good News of God’s Kingdom is preached, and everyone is forcing his way into it.
૧૬નિયમશાસ્ત્ર તથા પ્રબોધકો યોહાનના સમય સુધી હતા; તે સમયથી ઈશ્વરના રાજ્યની સુવાર્તા પ્રગટ કરાય છે, અને દરેક માણસ તેમાં જબરદસ્તીથી પ્રવેશવા મથે છે.
17 But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one tiny stroke of a pen in the law to fall.
૧૭પણ નિયમશાસ્ત્રની એક પણ માત્રા રદ થાય, તે કરતાં આકાશ તથા પૃથ્વીને જતું રહેવું સહેલ છે.
18 “Everyone who divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery. He who marries one who is divorced from a husband commits adultery.
૧૮જે કોઈ પોતાની પત્નીને છૂટાછેડા આપીને બીજી સ્ત્રી સાથે લગ્ન કરે છે, તે વ્યભિચાર કરે છે, અને જે કોઈ છૂટાછેડા પામેલી સ્ત્રી સાથે લગ્ન કરે છે, તે વ્યભિચાર કરે છે.
19 “Now there was a certain rich man, and he was clothed in purple and fine linen, living in luxury every day.
૧૯એક શ્રીમંત માણસ હતો, તે કિરમજી રંગના વણાયેલા કિંમતી વસ્ત્ર પહેરતો હતો, અને નિત્ય મોજમઝામાં રહેતો હતો.
20 A certain beggar, named Lazarus, was taken to his gate, full of sores,
૨૦લાજરસ નામે એક ભિખારી જેને આખા શરીરે ફોલ્લા હતા, તે તેના દરવાજા આગળ પડી રહેતો હતો.
21 and desiring to be fed with the crumbs that fell from the rich man’s table. Yes, even the dogs came and licked his sores.
૨૧શ્રીમંતની મેજ પરથી પડેલા ભોંયમાંના કકડા વડે તે પેટ ભરવા ચાહતો હતો; વળી કૂતરા પણ આવીને તેના ફોલ્લા ચાટતા હતા.
22 The beggar died, and he was carried away by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried.
૨૨પછી એમ થયું કે તે ભિખારી મરણ પામ્યો, સ્વર્ગદૂતો તેને ઇબ્રાહિમની ગોદમાં લઈ ગયા; અને શ્રીમંત માણસ પણ મરણ પામ્યો અને તેને દફનાવવામાં આવ્યો.
23 In Hades, he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and saw Abraham far off, and Lazarus at his bosom. (Hadēs g86)
૨૩પાતાળમાં પીડા ભોગવતાં તેણે પોતાની આંખો ઊંચી કરીને દૂરથી ઇબ્રાહિમને તથા તેના ખોળામાં લાજરસને જોયા. (Hadēs g86)
24 He cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue! For I am in anguish in this flame.’
૨૪તેણે બૂમ પાડીને કહ્યું કે, પિતા ઇબ્રાહિમ, મારા પર દયા કરીને લાજરસને મોકલ, કે તે પોતાની આંગળી પાણીમાં બોળીને મારી જીભને ઠંડી કરે, કેમ કે આ આગમાં હું વેદના પામું છું.
25 “But Abraham said, ‘Son, remember that you, in your lifetime, received your good things, and Lazarus, in the same way, bad things. But here he is now comforted and you are in anguish.
૨૫પણ ઇબ્રાહિમે તેને કહ્યું, દીકરા, યાદ કર કે તારા જીવનમાં તું સારી સામગ્રી પામ્યો, અને લાજરસ તો તેવું પામ્યો ન હતો; પણ હમણાં અહીં તે દિલાસો પામે છે, અને તું વેદના પામે છે.
26 Besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, that those who want to pass from here to you are not able, and that no one may cross over from there to us.’
૨૬વળી તે સર્વ ઉપરાંત અમારી તથા તમારી વચ્ચે મોટી ખાઈ આવેલી છે, એ માટે કે જેઓ અહીંથી તમારી પાસે આવવા ચાહે, તેઓ ત્યાં આવી ન શકે, અને ત્યાંથી કોઈ અમારી પાસે આ બાજુ પણ આવી શકે નહિ.
27 “He said, ‘I ask you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father’s house—
૨૭તેણે કહ્યું કે, પિતા, એ માટે હું તમને વિનંતી કરું છું કે, લાજરસને મારા પિતાને ઘરે મોકલો,
28 for I have five brothers—that he may testify to them, so they won’t also come into this place of torment.’
૨૮કેમ કે મારા પાંચ ભાઈઓ છે. લાજરસ તેઓને સાક્ષી આપે, એમ ન થાય કે તેઓ પર પણ આ પીડા આવી પડે.
29 “But Abraham said to him, ‘They have Moses and the prophets. Let them listen to them.’
૨૯પણ ઇબ્રાહિમે કહ્યું, તેઓની પાસે મૂસાનું નિયમશાસ્ત્ર તથા પ્રબોધકો છે; તેઓનું તેઓ સાંભળે.
30 “He said, ‘No, father Abraham, but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’
૩૦અને તેણે કહ્યું કે, પિતા ઇબ્રાહિમ, એમ નહિ, પણ જો કોઈ મૃત્યુમાંથી સજીવન પામીને તેઓની પાસે જાય, તો તેઓ પસ્તાવો કરે.
31 “He said to him, ‘If they don’t listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if one rises from the dead.’”
૩૧અને ઇબ્રાહિમે તેને કહ્યું કે, જો તેઓ મૂસાનું નિયમશાસ્ત્ર તથા પ્રબોધકોનું નહિ સાંભળે, તો પછી મૃત્યુ પામેલાઓમાંથી કોઈ ઊઠીને જાય, તોપણ તેઓ માનવાના નથી.’”
