< Jonah 2 >

1 Then Jonah prayed to Yahweh, his God, out of the fish’s belly.
Yona wɔ apataa no yam no, ɔbɔɔ Awurade ne Nyankopɔn mpae se,
2 He said, “I called because of my affliction to Yahweh. He answered me. Out of the belly of Sheol I cried. You heard my voice. (Sheol h7585)
“Mʼahohia mu mefrɛɛ Awurade, na ogyee me so. Mifi ɔda ase tɔnn srɛɛ mmoa na wutiee me sufrɛ. (Sheol h7585)
3 For you threw me into the depths, in the heart of the seas. The flood was all around me. All your waves and your billows passed over me.
Wotow me kyenee bun mu wɔ po ase tɔnn, na ɔhweam twaa me ho hyiae; wʼasorɔkye ne mframa bu faa me so.
4 I said, ‘I have been banished from your sight; yet I will look again toward your holy temple.’
Na mekae se, ‘Woapam me afi wʼanim; nanso mede mʼani bɛkyerɛ wʼasɔredan kronkron no bio’
5 The waters surrounded me, even to the soul. The deep was around me. The weeds were wrapped around my head.
Nsu a abu afa me so no bɔɔ me hu, bun no twaa me ho hyiae; po mu nwura kyekyeree me ti ho.
6 I went down to the bottoms of the mountains. The earth barred me in forever; yet you have brought my life up from the pit, Yahweh my God.
Memem kɔɔ mmepɔw no ase pɛɛ; asase ase kaa me hyɛɛ mu afebɔɔ. Nanso wugyee me nkwa fii amoa mu, Awurade, me Nyankopɔn.
7 “When my soul fainted within me, I remembered Yahweh. My prayer came in to you, into your holy temple.
“Bere a me nkwa resen akɔ no, mekaee wo Awurade, na me mpaebɔ foro baa wo nkyɛn, wɔ wʼasɔredan kronkron no mu.
8 Those who regard vain idols forsake their own mercy.
“Wɔn a wɔde wɔn ho bata ahoni huhuw ho no hwere adom a anka ɛyɛ wɔn de.
9 But I will sacrifice to you with the voice of thanksgiving. I will pay that which I have vowed. Salvation belongs to Yahweh.”
Nanso me, mede ayeyi nnwom bɛbɔ afɔre ama wo. Nea mahyɛ ho bɔ no, mɛyɛ. Nkwagye fi Awurade.”
10 Then Yahweh spoke to the fish, and it vomited out Jonah on the dry land.
Na afei, Awurade hyɛɛ apataa no ma ɔfee Yona too asase so.
