John 9
1 As he passed by, he saw a man blind from birth.
Y pasando Jesús, vio a un hombre ciego desde su nacimiento.
2 His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”
Y preguntáronle sus discípulos, diciendo: ¿Rabbi, quién pecó, éste o sus padres, para que naciese ciego?
3 Jesus answered, “This man didn’t sin, nor did his parents, but that the works of God might be revealed in him.
Respondió Jesús: Ni éste pecó, ni sus padres: sino para que las obras de Dios se manifiesten en él.
4 I must work the works of him who sent me while it is day. The night is coming, when no one can work.
A mí me conviene obrar las obras de aquel que me envió, entre tanto que el día es: la noche viene, cuando nadie puede obrar.
5 While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”
Entre tanto que estuviere en el mundo, la luz soy del mundo.
6 When he had said this, he spat on the ground, made mud with the saliva, anointed the blind man’s eyes with the mud,
Esto dicho, escupió en tierra; e hizo lodo de la saliva, y untó con el lodo sobre los ojos del ciego,
7 and said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which means “Sent”). So he went away, washed, and came back seeing.
Y le dijo: Vé, lávate en el estanque de Siloé, que interpretado, significa Enviado. Se fue pues, y se lavó, y volvió viendo.
8 Therefore the neighbors and those who saw that he was blind before said, “Isn’t this he who sat and begged?”
Entonces los vecinos, y los que antes le habían visto que era ciego, decían: ¿No es éste el que se sentaba, y mendigaba?
9 Others were saying, “It is he.” Still others were saying, “He looks like him.” He said, “I am he.”
Otros decían: Este es; y otros: Se le parece; mas él decía: Yo soy.
10 They therefore were asking him, “How were your eyes opened?”
Por esto le decían: ¿Cómo te fueron abiertos los ojos?
11 He answered, “A man called Jesus made mud, anointed my eyes, and said to me, ‘Go to the pool of Siloam and wash.’ So I went away and washed, and I received sight.”
Respondió él, y dijo: Aquel hombre que se llama Jesús, hizo lodo, y me untó los ojos, y me dijo: Vé al estanque de Siloé, y lávate; y yo fui, y me lavé, y recibí la vista.
12 Then they asked him, “Where is he?” He said, “I don’t know.”
Entonces le dijeron: ¿Dónde está aquel? Dice él: No sé.
13 They brought him who had been blind to the Pharisees.
Llévanle a los Fariseos, al que antes había sido ciego.
14 It was a Sabbath when Jesus made the mud and opened his eyes.
Y era sábado cuando Jesús había hecho el lodo, y le había abierto los ojos.
15 Again therefore the Pharisees also asked him how he received his sight. He said to them, “He put mud on my eyes, I washed, and I see.”
Y volviéronle a preguntar también los Fariseos, de qué manera había recibido la vista. El les dijo: Púsome lodo sobre los ojos, y me lavé, y veo.
16 Some therefore of the Pharisees said, “This man is not from God, because he doesn’t keep the Sabbath.” Others said, “How can a man who is a sinner do such signs?” So there was division among them.
Entonces unos de los Fariseos le decían: Este hombre no es de Dios, porque no guarda el sábado. Y otros decían: ¿Cómo puede un hombre pecador hacer tales milagros? Y había disensión entre ellos.
17 Therefore they asked the blind man again, “What do you say about him, because he opened your eyes?” He said, “He is a prophet.”
Vuelven a decir al ciego: ¿Tú, qué dices de el que te abrió los ojos? Y él dijo: Que es un profeta.
18 The Jews therefore didn’t believe concerning him, that he had been blind and had received his sight, until they called the parents of him who had received his sight,
Mas los Judíos no creían de él, que había sido él ciego, y hubiese recibido la vista, hasta que llamaron a los padres de el que había recibido la vista.
19 and asked them, “Is this your son, whom you say was born blind? How then does he now see?”
Y preguntáronles, diciendo: ¿Es éste vuestro hijo, el que vosotros decís, que nació ciego? ¿Cómo, pues, ve ahora?
20 His parents answered them, “We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind;
Respondiéronles sus padres, y dijeron: Sabemos que éste es nuestro hijo, y que nació ciego:
21 but how he now sees, we don’t know; or who opened his eyes, we don’t know. He is of age. Ask him. He will speak for himself.”
Mas como vea ahora, no lo sabemos; o quien le haya abierto los ojos, nosotros no lo sabemos: él tiene edád, preguntádle a él, él hablará por sí mismo.
22 His parents said these things because they feared the Jews; for the Jews had already agreed that if any man would confess him as Christ, he would be put out of the synagogue.
Esto dijeron sus padres, porque tenían miedo de los Judíos; porque ya los Judíos habían concluido que si alguno confesase ser él el Mesías, que fuese echado fuera de la sinagoga.
23 Therefore his parents said, “He is of age. Ask him.”
Por eso dijeron sus padres: Edad tiene, preguntád le a él.
24 So they called the man who was blind a second time, and said to him, “Give glory to God. We know that this man is a sinner.”
Así que volvieron a llamar al hombre que había sido ciego, y le dijeron: Da gloria a Dios: nosotros sabemos que este hombre es pecador.
25 He therefore answered, “I don’t know if he is a sinner. One thing I do know: that though I was blind, now I see.”
Entonces él respondió, y dijo: Si es pecador o no, yo no lo sé: una cosa sé, que habiendo yo sido ciego, ahora veo.
26 They said to him again, “What did he do to you? How did he open your eyes?”
Y volviéronle a decir: ¿Qué te hizo? ¿Cómo te abrió los ojos?
27 He answered them, “I told you already, and you didn’t listen. Why do you want to hear it again? You don’t also want to become his disciples, do you?”
Respondióles: Ya os lo he dicho, y no lo habéis escuchado: ¿por qué lo queréis otra vez oír? ¿Queréis también vosotros haceros sus discípulos?
28 They insulted him and said, “You are his disciple, but we are disciples of Moses.
Entonces le vilipendiaron, y dijeron: Tú eres su discípulo; mas nosotros discípulos de Moisés somos.
29 We know that God has spoken to Moses. But as for this man, we don’t know where he comes from.”
Nosotros sabemos que a Moisés habló Dios; mas éste no sabemos de donde es.
30 The man answered them, “How amazing! You don’t know where he comes from, yet he opened my eyes.
Respondióles el hombre, y les dijo: Cierto maravillosa cosa es esta, que vosotros no sabéis de donde sea, y con todo a mí me abrió los ojos.
31 We know that God doesn’t listen to sinners, but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does his will, he listens to him.
Y sabemos que Dios no oye a los pecadores; mas si alguno es adorador de Dios, y hace su voluntad, a éste oye.
32 Since the world began it has never been heard of that anyone opened the eyes of someone born blind. (aiōn g165)
Desde el principio del mundo no fue oído, que abriese alguno los ojos de uno que nació ciego. (aiōn g165)
33 If this man were not from God, he could do nothing.”
Si este hombre no fuera de Dios, no pudiera hacer nada.
34 They answered him, “You were altogether born in sins, and do you teach us?” Then they threw him out.
Respondieron y le dijeron: En pecados eres nacido todo; ¿y tú nos enseñas? Y echáronle fuera.
35 Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, and finding him, he said, “Do you believe in the Son of God?”
Oyó Jesús que le habían echado fuera; y hallándole, le dijo: ¿Tú crees en el Hijo de Dios?
36 He answered, “Who is he, Lord, that I may believe in him?”
Respondió él, y dijo: ¿Quién es, Señor, para que crea en él?
37 Jesus said to him, “You have both seen him, and it is he who speaks with you.”
Y díjole Jesús: Ya le has visto, y el que habla contigo, él es.
38 He said, “Lord, I believe!” and he worshiped him.
Y él dijo: Creo, Señor. Y le adoró.
39 Jesus said, “I came into this world for judgment, that those who don’t see may see; and that those who see may become blind.”
Y dijo Jesús: Yo, para juicio he venido a este mundo, para que los que no ven, vean; y para que los que ven, sean cegados.
40 Those of the Pharisees who were with him heard these things, and said to him, “Are we also blind?”
Y oyeron esto algunos de los Fariseos que estaban con él, y le dijeron: ¿Somos nosotros también ciegos?
41 Jesus said to them, “If you were blind, you would have no sin; but now you say, ‘We see.’ Therefore your sin remains.
Díjoles Jesús: Si fuerais ciegos, no tuvierais pecado; mas ahora decís: Vemos; por tanto vuestro pecado permanece.
