John 5
1 After these things, there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
Después de estas cosas, había una fiesta de los Judíos, y subió Jesús a Jerusalem.
2 Now in Jerusalem by the sheep gate, there is a pool, which is called in Hebrew, “Bethesda”, having five porches.
Y hay en Jerusalem junto a la puerta del ganado un estanque, que en lengua Hebrea es llamado Betesda, el cual tiene cinco pórticos.
3 In these lay a great multitude of those who were sick, blind, lame, or paralyzed, waiting for the moving of the water;
En estos estaba echada una grande multitud de enfermos, ciegos, cojos, secos, que estaban esperando el movimiento del agua;
4 for an angel went down at certain times into the pool and stirred up the water. Whoever stepped in first after the stirring of the water was healed of whatever disease he had.
Porque un ángel descendía a cierto tiempo al estanque, y revolvía el agua; y el que primero entraba en el estanque, después del movimiento del agua, quedaba sano de cualquier enfermedad que tuviese.
5 A certain man was there who had been sick for thirty-eight years.
Y estaba allí un hombre, que había treinta y ocho años que estaba enfermo.
6 When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he had been sick for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to be made well?”
Como Jesús le vio echado, y entendió que ya había mucho tiempo que estaba enfermo, dícele: ¿Quiéres ser sano?
7 The sick man answered him, “Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, but while I’m coming, another steps down before me.”
Y el enfermo le respondió: Señor, no tengo hombre, que cuando el agua fuere revuelta, me meta en el estanque; porque entre tanto que yo voy, otro antes de mí ha descendido.
8 Jesus said to him, “Arise, take up your mat, and walk.”
Dícele Jesús: Levántate, toma tu lecho, y anda.
9 Immediately, the man was made well, and took up his mat and walked. Now that day was a Sabbath.
Y luego aquel hombre fue sano, y tomó su lecho, e íbase; y era sábado aquel día.
10 So the Jews said to him who was cured, “It is the Sabbath. It is not lawful for you to carry the mat.”
Entonces los Judíos decían a aquel que había sido sanado: Sábado es, no te es lícito llevar tu lecho.
11 He answered them, “He who made me well said to me, ‘Take up your mat and walk.’”
Respondióles: El que me sanó, el mismo me dijo: Toma tu lecho, y anda.
12 Then they asked him, “Who is the man who said to you, ‘Take up your mat and walk’?”
Y le preguntaron entonces: ¿Quién es el que te dijo: Toma tu lecho, y anda?
13 But he who was healed didn’t know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, a crowd being in the place.
Y el que había sido sanado, no sabía quien fuese; porque Jesús se había apartado de la multitud que estaba en aquel lugar.
14 Afterward Jesus found him in the temple and said to him, “Behold, you are made well. Sin no more, so that nothing worse happens to you.”
Después le halló Jesús en el templo, y le dijo: He aquí, ya estás sano: no peques más, porque no te venga alguna cosa peor.
15 The man went away, and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well.
El hombre se fue entonces, y dio aviso a los Judíos, que Jesús era el que le había sanado.
16 For this cause the Jews persecuted Jesus and sought to kill him, because he did these things on the Sabbath.
Y por esta causa los Judíos perseguían a Jesús, y procuraban matarle, porque hacía estas cosas en sábado.
17 But Jesus answered them, “My Father is still working, so I am working, too.”
Y Jesús les respondió: Mi Padre hasta ahora obra, y yo obro.
18 For this cause therefore the Jews sought all the more to kill him, because he not only broke the Sabbath, but also called God his own Father, making himself equal with God.
Entonces por tanto más procuraban los Judíos matarle; porque no solo quebrantaba el sábado, mas aun también decía que era Dios su Padre, haciéndose igual a Dios.
19 Jesus therefore answered them, “Most certainly, I tell you, the Son can do nothing of himself, but what he sees the Father doing. For whatever things he does, these the Son also does likewise.
Respondió pues Jesús, y les dijo: De cierto, de cierto os digo: Que no puede el Hijo hacer algo de sí mismo, sino lo que viere hacer al Padre; porque todo lo que él hace, esto también hace el Hijo juntamente.
20 For the Father has affection for the Son, and shows him all things that he himself does. He will show him greater works than these, that you may marvel.
Porque el Padre ama al Hijo, y le muestra todas las cosas que él hace; y mayores obras que estas le mostrará, de modo que vosotros os maravilléis.
21 For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son also gives life to whom he desires.
Porque como el Padre levanta los muertos, y les da vida, así también el Hijo a los que quiere da vida.
22 For the Father judges no one, but he has given all judgment to the Son,
Porque el Padre a nadie juzga, mas todo el juicio dio al Hijo;
23 that all may honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He who doesn’t honor the Son doesn’t honor the Father who sent him.
Para que todos honren al Hijo, como honran al Padre: el que no honra al Hijo, no honra al Padre que le envió.
24 “Most certainly I tell you, he who hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life, and doesn’t come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life. (aiōnios g166)
De cierto, de cierto os digo: Que el que oye mi palabra, y cree al que me envió, tiene vida eterna; y no vendrá en condenación, mas pasó de muerte a vida. (aiōnios g166)
25 Most certainly I tell you, the hour comes, and now is, when the dead will hear the Son of God’s voice; and those who hear will live.
De cierto, de cierto os digo: Que vendrá hora, y ahora es, cuando los muertos oirán la voz del Hijo de Dios; y los que oyeren, vivirán.
26 For as the Father has life in himself, even so he gave to the Son also to have life in himself.
Porque como el Padre tiene vida en sí mismo, así dio también al Hijo que tuviese vida en sí mismo.
27 He also gave him authority to execute judgment, because he is a son of man.
Y también le dio poder de hacer juicio, porque es el Hijo del hombre.
28 Don’t marvel at this, for the hour comes in which all who are in the tombs will hear his voice
No os maravilléis de esto; porque vendrá hora, cuando todos los que están en los sepulcros oirán su voz;
29 and will come out; those who have done good, to the resurrection of life; and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of judgment.
Y los que hicieron bien, saldrán a resurrección de vida; y los que hicieron mal, a resurrección de condenación.
30 I can of myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and my judgment is righteous, because I don’t seek my own will, but the will of my Father who sent me.
No puedo yo de mí mismo hacer algo: como oigo, juzgo; y mi juicio es justo, porque no busco mi voluntad, mas la voluntad del Padre que me envió.
31 “If I testify about myself, my witness is not valid.
Si yo doy testimonio de mí mismo, mi testimonio no es verdadero.
32 It is another who testifies about me. I know that the testimony which he testifies about me is true.
Otro es el que da testimonio de mí; y yo sé que el testimonio que él da de mí, es verdadero.
33 You have sent to John, and he has testified to the truth.
Vosotros enviasteis a Juan, y él dio testimonio a la verdad.
34 But the testimony which I receive is not from man. However, I say these things that you may be saved.
Empero yo no tomo el testimonio de hombre: mas digo estas cosas, para que vosotros seáis salvos.
35 He was the burning and shining lamp, and you were willing to rejoice for a while in his light.
El era antorcha que ardía, y alumbraba; y vosotros quisisteis regocijaros por un poco en su luz.
36 But the testimony which I have is greater than that of John; for the works which the Father gave me to accomplish, the very works that I do, testify about me, that the Father has sent me.
Mas yo tengo mayor testimonio que el de Juan; porque las obras que el Padre me dio que cumpliese, es a saber, las mismas obras que yo hago, dan testimonio de mí, que el Padre me haya enviado.
37 The Father himself, who sent me, has testified about me. You have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his form.
Y el Padre mismo que me envió, él dio testimonio de mí. Vosotros nunca habéis oído su voz, ni habéis visto su parecer.
38 You don’t have his word living in you, because you don’t believe him whom he sent.
Ni tenéis su palabra permanente en vosotros; porque al que él envió, a éste vosotros no creéis.
39 “You search the Scriptures, because you think that in them you have eternal life; and these are they which testify about me. (aiōnios g166)
Escudriñád las Escrituras; porque a vosotros os parece, que en ellas tenéis la vida eterna; y ellas son las que dan testimonio de mí; (aiōnios g166)
40 Yet you will not come to me, that you may have life.
Y no queréis venir a mí, para que tengáis vida.
41 I don’t receive glory from men.
Gloria de los hombres no recibo.
42 But I know you, that you don’t have God’s love in yourselves.
Mas yo os conozco, que no tenéis el amor de Dios en vosotros.
43 I have come in my Father’s name, and you don’t receive me. If another comes in his own name, you will receive him.
Yo he venido en nombre de mi Padre, y no me recibís: si otro viniere en su proprio nombre, a aquel recibiréis.
44 How can you believe, who receive glory from one another, and you don’t seek the glory that comes from the only God?
¿Cómo podéis vosotros creer, los que tomáis gloria los unos de los otros? y no buscáis la gloria que de solo Dios viene.
45 “Don’t think that I will accuse you to the Father. There is one who accuses you, even Moses, on whom you have set your hope.
No pensáis que yo os tengo de acusar delante del Padre: hay quien os acusa, es a saber, Moisés, en quien vosotros esperáis.
46 For if you believed Moses, you would believe me; for he wrote about me.
Porque si vosotros creyeseis a Moisés, creeríais a mí; porque de mí escribió él.
47 But if you don’t believe his writings, how will you believe my words?”
Y si a sus escritos no creeis, ¿cómo creeréis a mis palabras?
