John 19
1 So Pilate then took Jesus and flogged him.
૧ત્યાર પછી પિલાતે ઈસુને કોરડા મરાવ્યા.
2 The soldiers twisted thorns into a crown and put it on his head, and dressed him in a purple garment.
૨સિપાઈઓએ કાંટાનો મુગટ ગૂંથીને તેમના માથા પર મૂક્યો અને તેમને જાંબુડા રંગનો ઝભ્ભો પહેરાવ્યો;
3 They kept saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” and they kept slapping him.
૩તેઓએ તેમની પાસે આવીને કહ્યું કે, ‘ઓ યહૂદીઓના રાજા, સલામ!’ અને તેઓએ તેમને મુક્કીઓ મારી.
4 Then Pilate went out again, and said to them, “Behold, I bring him out to you, that you may know that I find no basis for a charge against him.”
૪પછી પિલાતે ફરીથી બહાર જઈને લોકોને કહ્યું કે, ‘હું તેને તમારી પાસે બહાર લાવું છું, કે જેથી તમે જાણો કે, મને તેનામાં કંઈ અપરાધ જણાતો નથી.’”
5 Jesus therefore came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple garment. Pilate said to them, “Behold, the man!”
૫ત્યારે ઈસુ કાંટાનો મુગટ તથા જાંબુડા રંગનો ઝભ્ભો પહેરેલા જ બહાર નીકળ્યા. પછી પિલાતે તેઓને કહ્યું કે, ‘આ માણસને જુઓ!’
6 When therefore the chief priests and the officers saw him, they shouted, saying, “Crucify! Crucify!” Pilate said to them, “Take him yourselves and crucify him, for I find no basis for a charge against him.”
૬જયારે મુખ્ય યાજકોએ તથા અધિકારીઓએ તેમને જોયા, ત્યારે તેઓએ બૂમ પાડતાં કહ્યું કે, તેને વધસ્તંભે જડો, વધસ્તંભે જડો.’ પિલાતે તેઓને કહ્યું કે, ‘તમે પોતે તેને લઈ જાઓ અને વધસ્તંભે જડો; કેમ કે મને તેનામાં કંઈ અપરાધ જણાતો નથી.’”
7 The Jews answered him, “We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.”
૭યહૂદીઓએ પિલાતને ઉત્તર આપ્યો કે, ‘અમારો એક નિયમ છે અને તે પ્રમાણે તેણે મૃત્યુદંડ ભોગવવો જોઈએ; કેમ કે તેણે પોતે ઈશ્વરનો દીકરો હોવાનો દાવો કર્યો છે.
8 When therefore Pilate heard this saying, he was more afraid.
૮તે વાત સાંભળીને પિલાત વધારે ગભરાયો;
9 He entered into the Praetorium again, and said to Jesus, “Where are you from?” But Jesus gave him no answer.
૯અને તેણે ફરી દરબારમાં જઈને ઈસુને કહ્યું કે, ‘તું ક્યાંનો છે?’ પણ ઈસુએ તેને કંઈ જવાબ આપ્યો નહિ.
10 Pilate therefore said to him, “Aren’t you speaking to me? Don’t you know that I have power to release you and have power to crucify you?”
૧૦ત્યારે પિલાતે તેમને કહ્યું કે, ‘શું તું મને કશું કહેતો નથી?’ શું તું જાણતો નથી કે તને છોડવાનો અને વધસ્તંભે જડવાનો અધિકાર મને છે?’”
11 Jesus answered, “You would have no power at all against me, unless it were given to you from above. Therefore he who delivered me to you has greater sin.”
૧૧ઈસુએ તેને ઉત્તર આપ્યો કે, ‘ઉપરથી અપાયાં વિના તને મારા પર કંઈ પણ અધિકાર હોત નહિ; તે માટે જેણે મને તને સોંપ્યો છે તેનું પાપ વધારે મોટું છે.’”
12 At this, Pilate was seeking to release him, but the Jews cried out, saying, “If you release this man, you aren’t Caesar’s friend! Everyone who makes himself a king speaks against Caesar!”
૧૨આથી પિલાતે તેમને છોડવાની કોશિશ કરી; પણ યહૂદીઓએ ઊંચા અવાજે કહ્યું કે, ‘જો તમે આ માણસને છોડી દો, તો તમે કાઈસારનાં મિત્ર નથી; જે કોઈ પોતાને રાજા ઠરાવે છે, તે કાઈસારની વિરુદ્ધ બોલે છે.
13 When Pilate therefore heard these words, he brought Jesus out and sat down on the judgment seat at a place called “The Pavement”, but in Hebrew, “Gabbatha.”
૧૩ત્યારે તે સાંભળીને પિલાત ઈસુને બહાર લાવ્યો અને ફરસબંદી નામની જગ્યા જેને હિબ્રૂ ભાષામાં ‘ગાબ્બાથા’ કહે છે, ત્યાં ન્યાયાસન પર બેઠો.
14 Now it was the Preparation Day of the Passover, at about the sixth hour. He said to the Jews, “Behold, your King!”
૧૪હવે પાસ્ખાની તૈયારીનો દિવસ હતો અને લગભગ બપોરનો એક વાગ્યો હતો. પિલાતે યહૂદીઓને કહ્યું કે, ‘જુઓ, તમારો રાજા!’
15 They cried out, “Away with him! Away with him! Crucify him!” Pilate said to them, “Shall I crucify your King?” The chief priests answered, “We have no king but Caesar!”
૧૫ત્યારે તેઓએ પોકારીને કહ્યું કે, ‘તેને દૂર કરો, દૂર કરો, તેને વધસ્તંભે જડો.’ પિલાત તેઓને કહે છે કે, ‘શું હું તમારા રાજાને વધસ્તંભે જડાવું?’ મુખ્ય યાજકોએ ઉત્તર આપ્યો કે, ‘કાઈસાર સિવાય અમારે બીજો કોઈ રાજા નથી.’”
16 So then he delivered him to them to be crucified. So they took Jesus and led him away.
૧૬ત્યારે ઈસુને વધસ્તંભે જડવાને પિલાતે તેઓને સોંપ્યાં. તેથી તેઓ ઈસુને પકડી લઈ ગયા.
17 He went out, bearing his cross, to the place called “The Place of a Skull”, which is called in Hebrew, “Golgotha”,
૧૭પછી ઈસુ પોતાનો વધસ્તંભ ઊંચકીને ખોપરીની જગ્યા, જે હિબ્રૂ ભાષામાં ‘ગલગથા’ કહેવાય છે, ત્યાં બહાર ગયા.
18 where they crucified him, and with him two others, on either side one, and Jesus in the middle.
૧૮તેઓએ ઈસુને તથા તેમની સાથે બીજા બેને વધસ્તંભે જડ્યાં; બંને બાજુએ એકને તથા વચમાં ઈસુને.
19 Pilate wrote a title also, and put it on the cross. There was written, “JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS.”
૧૯પિલાતે એવું લખાણ લખીને વધસ્તંભ પર લટકાવ્યું કે; ‘નાસરેથનો ઈસુ, યહૂદીઓનો રાજા.’”
20 Therefore many of the Jews read this title, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city; and it was written in Hebrew, in Latin, and in Greek.
૨૦જ્યાં ઈસુને વધસ્તંભે જડવામાં આવ્યા હતા, તે જગ્યા શહેરની પાસે હતી અને તે લખાણ હિબ્રૂ, લેટિન તથા ગ્રીક ભાષામાં લખેલું હતું, માટે ઘણાં યહૂદીઓએ તે વાંચ્યું.
21 The chief priests of the Jews therefore said to Pilate, “Don’t write, ‘The King of the Jews,’ but, ‘he said, “I am King of the Jews.”’”
૨૧તેથી યહૂદીઓના મુખ્ય યાજકોએ પિલાતને કહ્યું કે, ‘યહૂદીઓનો રાજા,’ એમ ન લખો, પણ તેણે કહ્યું કે, ‘હું યહૂદીઓનો રાજા છું.’ એમ લખો.
22 Pilate answered, “What I have written, I have written.”
૨૨પિલાતે ઉત્તર આપ્યો કે, ‘મેં જે લખ્યું તે લખ્યું.’”
23 Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also the tunic. Now the tunic was without seam, woven from the top throughout.
૨૩સિપાઈઓએ ઈસુને વધસ્તંભે જડ્યાં પછી તેમના વસ્ત્રો લઈ લીધાં અને તેના ચાર ભાગ પાડ્યા, દરેક સિપાઈને માટે એક; ઝભ્ભો પણ લઈ લીધો હતો; તે ઝભ્ભો સાંધા વગરનો ઉપરથી આખો વણેલો હતો.
24 Then they said to one another, “Let’s not tear it, but cast lots for it to decide whose it will be,” that the Scripture might be fulfilled, which says, “They parted my garments among them. They cast lots for my clothing.” Therefore the soldiers did these things.
૨૪પછી તેઓએ પરસ્પર કહ્યું કે, ‘આપણે તેને ફાડીએ નહિ; પણ તે કોને મળે તે જાણવા માટે ચિઠ્ઠીઓ નાખીએ!’ ‘તેઓએ પરસ્પર મારાં વસ્ત્રો વહેંચી લીધાં અને મારા ઝભ્ભા માટે ચિઠ્ઠીઓ નાખી.’ એમ નિયમશાસ્ત્રમાં જે લખેલું છે તે પૂર્ણ થાય માટે આ બન્યું, તેથી એ કાર્ય સિપાઈઓએ કર્યુ.
25 But standing by Jesus’ cross were his mother, his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.
૨૫પણ ઈસુના વધસ્તંભ પાસે તેમના મા, તેમના માસી, ક્લોપાસની પત્ની મરિયમ તથા મગ્દલાની મરિયમ ઊભા રહેલાં હતાં.
26 Therefore when Jesus saw his mother, and the disciple whom he loved standing there, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son!”
૨૬તેથી જયારે ઈસુએ પોતાની માને તથા જેનાં પર પોતે પ્રેમ કરતા હતા તે શિષ્યને પાસે ઊભા રહેલાં જોયાં, ત્યારે તેમણે પોતાની માને કહ્યું કે, ‘બાઈ, જો તારો દીકરો!’
27 Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother!” From that hour, the disciple took her to his own home.
૨૭ત્યાર પછી તે પેલા શિષ્યને કહે છે કે, ‘જો, તારી મા!’ અને તે જ સમયથી તે શિષ્ય મરિયમને પોતાને ઘરે લઈ ગયો.
28 After this, Jesus, seeing that all things were now finished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, “I am thirsty!”
૨૮તે પછી ઈસુ, હવે સઘળું પૂર્ણ થયું એ જાણીને, શાસ્ત્રવચન પૂર્ણ થાય તે માટે કહે છે કે, ‘મને તરસ લાગી છે.’”
29 Now a vessel full of vinegar was set there; so they put a sponge full of the vinegar on hyssop, and held it at his mouth.
૨૯ત્યાં સરકાથી ભરેલું એક વાસણ મૂક્યું હતું; તેઓએ એક વાદળી લઈને સરકામાં ભીંજવીને લાકડી પર બાંધીને તેમના મોં આગળ ધરી.
30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, “It is finished!” Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
૩૦ત્યારે ઈસુએ સરકો ચાખ્યાં પછી કહ્યું કે, ‘સંપૂર્ણ થયું;’ અને માથું નમાવીને તેમણે પ્રાણ છોડ્યો.
31 Therefore the Jews, because it was the Preparation Day, so that the bodies wouldn’t remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a special one), asked of Pilate that their legs might be broken and that they might be taken away.
૩૧તે પાસ્ખાની તૈયારીનો દિવસ હતો, અને તે વિશ્રામવાર મહત્ત્વનો દિવસ હતો, એ માટે વિશ્રામવારે તેઓના મૃતદેહ વધસ્તંભ પર રહે નહિ માટે યહૂદીઓએ પિલાતને વિનંતી કરી કે, ‘તેઓના પગ ભાંગીને તેઓને નીચે ઉતારવામાં આવે.’”
32 Therefore the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first and of the other who was crucified with him;
૩૨એ માટે સિપાઈઓએ આવીને ઈસુની સાથે વધસ્તંભે જડાયેલા બંને જણાનાં પગ ભાંગ્યાં.
33 but when they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead, they didn’t break his legs.
૩૩જયારે તેઓ ઈસુની પાસે આવ્યા ત્યારે તેમને મૃત જોઈને તેમના પગ ભાંગ્યા નહિ.
34 However, one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out.
૩૪તોપણ સિપાઈઓમાંના એકે ભાલાથી તેમની કૂખ વીંધી અને તરત તેમાંથી લોહી તથા પાણી નીકળ્યાં.
35 He who has seen has testified, and his testimony is true. He knows that he tells the truth, that you may believe.
૩૫જેણે એ જોયું છે તેણે જ આ સાક્ષી આપી છે જેથી તમે પણ વિશ્વાસ કરો, તેની સાક્ષી સાચી છે. તે સત્ય કહે છે, એ તે જાણે છે.
36 For these things happened that the Scripture might be fulfilled, “A bone of him will not be broken.”
૩૬કેમ કે, ‘તેમનું એક પણ હાડકું ભાંગવામાં આવશે નહિ’ એ શાસ્ત્રવચન પૂર્ણ થાય માટે એમ થયું;
37 Again another Scripture says, “They will look on him whom they pierced.”
૩૭વળી બીજું શાસ્ત્રવચન કહે છે કે, ‘જેમને તેઓએ વીંધ્યા તેમને તેઓ જોશે.’”
38 After these things, Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, asked of Pilate that he might take away Jesus’ body. Pilate gave him permission. He came therefore and took away his body.
૩૮આ બાબતો બન્યા પછી અરિમથાઈનો યૂસફ, જે યહૂદીઓની બીકને લીધે ગુપ્ત રીતે ઈસુનો શિષ્ય હતો, તેણે ઈસુનો પાર્થિવ દેહ લઈ જવાની પિલાત પાસે માગણી કરી; અને પિલાતે તેને પરવાનગી આપી. તેથી તે આવીને તેમનો દેહ ઉતારીને લઈ ગયો.
39 Nicodemus, who at first came to Jesus by night, also came bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred Roman pounds.
૩૯જે અગાઉ એક રાત્રે ઈસુની પાસે આવ્યો હતો, તે નિકોદેમસ પણ બોળ અને અગરનું આશરે 30 કિલોગ્રામ મિશ્રણ લઈને આવ્યો.
40 So they took Jesus’ body, and bound it in linen cloths with the spices, as the custom of the Jews is to bury.
૪૦ત્યારે યહૂદીઓની દફનાવવાની રીત પ્રમાણે તેઓએ ઈસુનો પાર્થિવ દેહ લઈને, સુગંધીદ્રવ્યો સહિત શણના વસ્ત્રમાં લપેટ્યો.
41 Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden. In the garden was a new tomb in which no man had ever yet been laid.
૪૧હવે જ્યાં તેમને વધસ્તંભે જડ્યાં હતા ત્યાં એક વાડી હતી અને તે વાડીમાં એક નવી કબર હતી કે જેમાં કોઈને કદી દફનાવવામાં આવ્યો ન હતો.
42 Then, because of the Jews’ Preparation Day (for the tomb was near at hand), they laid Jesus there.
૪૨તે કબર પાસે હતી અને તે દિવસ યહૂદીઓના પાસ્ખાની તૈયારીનો હતો માટે ઈસુને ત્યાં જ દફનાવવામાં આવ્યા.
