John 16
1 “I have said these things to you so that you wouldn’t be caused to stumble.
Estas cosas os he hablado, para que no seáis ofendidos.
2 They will put you out of the synagogues. Yes, the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers service to God.
Os echarán de las sinagogas: aun más, la hora viene, cuando cualquiera que os matare, pensará que hace servicio a Dios.
3 They will do these things because they have not known the Father nor me.
Y estas cosas os harán, porque no conocen al Padre, ni a mí.
4 But I have told you these things so that when the time comes, you may remember that I told you about them. I didn’t tell you these things from the beginning, because I was with you.
Mas os he dicho esto, para que cuando aquella hora viniere, os acordéis de ello, que yo os lo había dicho: esto empero no os lo dije al principio, porque yo estaba con vosotros.
5 But now I am going to him who sent me, and none of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?’
Mas ahora voy al que me envió; y ninguno de vosotros me pregunta: ¿Dónde vas?
6 But because I have told you these things, sorrow has filled your heart.
Mas, porque os he hablado estas cosas, tristeza ha henchido vuestro corazón.
7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth: It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I don’t go away, the Counselor won’t come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.
Empero yo os digo la verdad, que os es necesario que yo vaya; porque si yo no fuese, el Consolador no vendría a vosotros; mas si yo fuere, os le enviaré.
8 When he has come, he will convict the world about sin, about righteousness, and about judgment;
Y cuando él viniere, redargüirá al mundo de pecado, y de justicia, y de juicio.
9 about sin, because they don’t believe in me;
De pecado, por cuanto no creen en mí:
10 about righteousness, because I am going to my Father, and you won’t see me any more;
De justicia, por cuanto voy al Padre, y no me veréis más:
11 about judgment, because the prince of this world has been judged.
De juicio, por cuanto el príncipe de este mundo ya es juzgado.
12 “I still have many things to tell you, but you can’t bear them now.
Aun tengo muchas cosas que deciros, mas ahora no las podéis llevar.
13 However, when he, the Spirit of truth, has come, he will guide you into all truth, for he will not speak from himself; but whatever he hears, he will speak. He will declare to you things that are coming.
Empero cuando viniere aquel, el Espíritu de verdad, él os guiará a toda verdad; porque no hablará de sí mismo, mas todo lo que oyere hablará; y las cosas que han de venir os hará saber.
14 He will glorify me, for he will take from what is mine and will declare it to you.
El me glorificará, porque tomará de lo mío, y os lo hará saber.
15 All things that the Father has are mine; therefore I said that he takes of mine and will declare it to you.
Todo lo que tiene el Padre, mío es: por eso dije que tomará de lo mío, y os lo hará saber.
16 “A little while, and you will not see me. Again a little while, and you will see me.”
Un poco, y no me veréis; y otra vez un poco, y me veréis; porque yo voy al Padre.
17 Some of his disciples therefore said to one another, “What is this that he says to us, ‘A little while, and you won’t see me, and again a little while, and you will see me;’ and, ‘Because I go to the Father’?”
Entonces dijeron algunos de sus discípulos unos a otros: ¿Qué es esto que nos dice: Un poco, y no me veréis; y otra vez, un poco, y me veréis; y, porque yo voy al Padre?
18 They said therefore, “What is this that he says, ‘A little while’? We don’t know what he is saying.”
Así que decían: ¿Qué es esto que dice: Un poco? No sabemos lo que dice.
19 Therefore Jesus perceived that they wanted to ask him, and he said to them, “Do you inquire among yourselves concerning this, that I said, ‘A little while, and you won’t see me, and again a little while, and you will see me’?
Y conocía Jesús que le querían preguntar, y les dijo: ¿Preguntáis entre vosotros de esto que dije: Un poco, y no me veréis; y otra vez, un poco, y me veréis?
20 Most certainly I tell you that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice. You will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy.
De cierto, de cierto os digo: Vosotros lloraréis y lamentaréis, el mundo empero se alegrará: y vosotros seréis tristes, mas vuestra tristeza será vuelta en gozo.
21 A woman, when she gives birth, has sorrow because her time has come. But when she has delivered the child, she doesn’t remember the anguish any more, for the joy that a human being is born into the world.
La mujer cuando pare, tiene dolor, porque es venida su hora; mas después que ha parido un niño, ya no se acuerda de la apretura por el gozo de que haya nacido un hombre en el mundo.
22 Therefore you now have sorrow, but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.
Vosotros pues también ahora a la verdad tenéis tristeza; mas otra vez os veré, y se gozará vuestro corazón, y nadie quitará de vosotros vuestro gozo.
23 “In that day you will ask me no questions. Most certainly I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you.
Y en aquel día no me preguntaréis nada. De cierto, de cierto os digo: Todo cuanto pidiereis al Padre en mi nombre, os lo dará.
24 Until now, you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be made full.
Hasta ahora nada habéis pedido en mi nombre: pedíd, y recibiréis, para que vuestro gozo sea cumplido.
25 “I have spoken these things to you in figures of speech. But the time is coming when I will no more speak to you in figures of speech, but will tell you plainly about the Father.
Estas cosas os he hablado en proverbios; mas la hora viene cuando ya no os hablaré en proverbios, sino que claramente os anunciaré de mi Padre.
26 In that day you will ask in my name; and I don’t say to you that I will pray to the Father for you,
Aquel día pediréis en mi nombre, y no os digo que yo rogaré al Padre por vosotros;
27 for the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me, and have believed that I came from God.
Porque el mismo Padre os ama, por cuanto vosotros me amasteis, y habéis creído que yo salí de Dios.
28 I came from the Father and have come into the world. Again, I leave the world and go to the Father.”
Salí del Padre, y he venido al mundo: otra vez dejo el mundo, y voy al Padre.
29 His disciples said to him, “Behold, now you are speaking plainly, and using no figures of speech.
Dícenle sus discípulos: He aquí, ahora hablas claramente, y ningún proverbio dices.
30 Now we know that you know all things, and don’t need for anyone to question you. By this we believe that you came from God.”
Ahora entendemos que sabes todas las cosas, y no has menester que nadie te pregunte: en esto creemos que has salido de Dios.
31 Jesus answered them, “Do you now believe?
Respondióles Jesús: ¿Ahora creéis?
32 Behold, the time is coming, yes, and has now come, that you will be scattered, everyone to his own place, and you will leave me alone. Yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
He aquí la hora viene, y ya es venida, en que seréis esparcidos cada uno a los suyos, y me dejaréis solo; mas no estoy solo, porque el Padre está conmigo.
33 I have told you these things, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have trouble; but cheer up! I have overcome the world.”
Estas cosas os he hablado para que en mí tengáis paz: en el mundo tendréis apretura; mas confiád, yo he vencido al mundo.
